RollinTNDA:
Landlord wey build house when cement was 1500 will come and be increasing rent.

Baba you built house during Jonathan era

Why you come dey tell me price of rod had increased.

No be the same rod you buy during Jonathan time for very cheap price??

These landlord/landladies are demonic
Are they charged the old price for the maintenance? Rather than focus on the government who is the cause of your pain you are blaming a fellow who is in pains with you. Isn't this witchcraft.

I'm surprised this thread is still moving. Also I'm a bit better now and less depressed. But I still feel doom and gloom once in a while. I have started attending a Nigerian church again but the thing just looks so ceremonial to me. Dancing and Thanksgiving and collecting tithes and offerings is all the Nigerian church seem to be interested in. I still think I need to take time off work but with the few leave days I get here I don't know how that will be possible. Anyway keep me in your prayers, I guess. I also kind of stopped the antidepressants since they were not really doing anything for me.
Take some extra days without pay and go enjoy naija fresh air for some time. In that time, map out what your future plans are whether in the US or back home.

This makes me fear state police as I truly do not see much difference in the modus operandi.
PoliticsRe: Band A Customers Pay More For Darkness by GboyegaD(m): 3:43pm On Mar 28
The minister is highly inefficient. I still don't understand why he has been retained this long.

Why should there be bands and some are only guaranteed 4 - 8 hours of light daily? This isn't improvement, it is failure in its full attire.
PropertiesRe: The House The "Best Agent" In Surulere/Yaba Showed Client For ₦800,000 by GboyegaD(m): 6:49pm On Mar 27
This is worse than wicked. I don't know how some landlords got so greedy that what they have to rent out is not even worth being called a house. The part I hate most are the bathroom inside of toilet and vice versa without a way to separate the toilet space from the bathroom space, the very tiny kitchens without space for prepping and storing, and the lack of proper ventilation in the entire unit.
EducationRe: Jss 2A After Retrieving Their Stolen Desk In Jss 2D (picture) by GboyegaD(m): 5:59pm On Mar 26
During my Junior Secondary School (JSS) days at Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro; we never really had personal chairs or desks. One interesting thing was that in JSS 1 first term, we had excess because then it was not run as a government school. We went home for end of term break and Daniel Akintonde announced Ogun State government taking over the school. When we came back, there was scarcity of chairs and desks. One thing I noticed was that since then, the school never bothered to repair the broken ones and our surplus became deficit.

Meeting up with the barest basics, promptly. But hardly any savings . Not living in a major city.
Wow... that's serious. Is it possible you save before you spend and manage whatever is left to meet your expenses?

I actually don't stay at home until weekend. I buy food in restaurants and I even spend more than #5,000 daily for my own feeding. A plate where I eat is #2500. Multiply by 3 is #7500 daily. I also have a house maid. I didn't even count her mouth in the food calculation I made. But if you actually do the Maths, 20k for food per day for a family that's trying to live comfortably is not out of place na.
Thank you for the clarification. So now, I get why it is N600k for feeding.

I'm on 450k (net)., family of 5.
We're stable but not comfortable.
I'm eyeing 1.2M in the Short term and 3M+ monthly in the Long run to feel and be comfortable.
When you write stable, what does that mean?
CareerRe: How Much Do You Need Monthly To Live Comfortably In Nigeria In 2026? by GboyegaD(m): 6:52pm On Mar 25
geoworldedu:
A family of 4(me, wife, 2 kids)

Feeding daily for 1 person = #5000
4 people = #20,000

Monthly= 20000 x 30 = #600,000 for only feeding.
If you don't mind me asking, why breakdown feeding this way when food is cooked as a family and groceries are bought in bulk and not at each time of cook. As such, it will make more sense to say feeding is N600k than the way it is broken down.

You want to live in denial of the reality. And maybe where we live also determine what we need to live comfortably. I live in Lagos and to live a comfortable life in Lagos, you will need nothing less than 700k as a single. Then as a married man with 2 kids I think 2m as I earlier mentioned. If you want the breakdown I can give you.
Please do. It will help readers understand more and perhaps, help them understand how they can thrive between survival and comfortable.
CareerRe: How Much Do You Need Monthly To Live Comfortably In Nigeria In 2026? by GboyegaD(m): 2:10pm On Mar 25
Reading through comments on this post, my thought is how fo we try to utilize the gains from bulk breaking? All that is needed will be people of like minds coming together to pull resources to buy in bulk.

One other question that comes to mind. How are people coping if many Nigerians are not making as much as most people are mentioning? Does this mean most are barely surviving?
CareerRe: How Much Do You Need Monthly To Live Comfortably In Nigeria In 2026? by GboyegaD(m): 1:58pm On Mar 25

That's the exact truth. Anybody earning below 700k as a single should be considered poor. Also earning 1m as a married person with two kids should be considered poor too.
What proportion of Nigerians earn as much as you stated?

I would have thought the topic will bring about real discuss but I realized many of us are just fuzzy in thoughts.

BTW, do you have a suggestion for USD investment?

InvestmentAdvice On Dollar Investment In Nigeria by GboyegaD(op): 6:46pm On Mar 24
I am trying to do some investments in monetary instruments however, to keep the value of the money, I am planning to keep them in USD. For those very conversant with the Nigerian Money Market, what bank would you suggest I go with?

I have written to Standard Chartered and I am yet to get a response from them.
With Stanbic IBTC, the documents they are asking for KYC threw me off. They asked for the list of post-secondary institutions I attended, all the places I have worked, and a few other things I feel are very mundane without asking for evidence on the main source of funds which makes me bother if they are really serious or they are just out to pissing people off.

Looks like figures are not adding up for GT MMF after the holidays. In my case, I noticed that I was credited with two days interest as of 8pm 23rd March. Fast forward to this morning 24th March at 5am, they added one more day interest. Leaving two more days interest outstanding for the holiday period of 18th March to 23rd March. I wish they can be very transparent on their portal by itemising investment progress. I am fed up with having a calculator at hand everytime I logged into their portal. They should take a leaf from Cowrywise way of itemising their MMF.
I just started investing and I am currently using the GT MMF. One thing I learned to do daily is to update my excel file just to have an idea how/what is going on. I might check the Cowry Wise one too so that I can diversify when next I have some funds I can set aside.

Is this some announcement we should be happy about? In these days when hundreds of miles of roads are built without announcement with a few weeks to months, our government builds a less than 10 miles road and feel they should be celebrated.

It is well. It isn't Resilence in my opinion considering there are more than enough resources in the land. We have to unite to fight our common enemy (the political class) otherwise, it will only get worst.

Why the unnecessary divide? They are a couple so nothing like she has to do all the domestic chores or the man bearing all financial responsibilities. The ideal is both doing everything with one mindset, we are a family.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Are Really Suffering, Damn!!!!! by GboyegaD(m): 3:09pm On Mar 21
Princedapace:
Mehn, bro, people need to start telling these guys the truth. Nigerians have no business suffering. I mean, having AC in this hot season is a must for Nigerians. Omo, Erupeans dey enjoy. During one hot season in Italy, if u see how their govt was making provisions to ensure citizens enjoy calmnes in their body, they created swimming pool in many places, look at the war in Ukrain, the govt of Ukrain cares so much about energy for citizens during winter. God, in Nigeria, these guys no even care. Guy, the heat was too much that i kept talking about it withh the guy I gave a lift. Man, it was like hell. But people mama and papa were under the sun light and will still pay tax to Nigeria govt. Omo, forget, Tinubu get mind o. God, i guess my heart is too soft. I cant be this wicked.
No no no, pls, anyone who is yet to birth a child, pls, ur child does not deserve to sleep under heat, ur child didnt offend anyone in his/her previous life.
Pls, dont birth a child here except u have made provisions to ensure they dont experience heat at night... Imagine heat and mosquitoes. If Nigeria had stable electricity, millions will install AC. Heat inside shop is like u are inside prison. This is too much for such a rich and blessed country.
Tinubu keep saying he removed fuel subsidy to give more money to governors. Same governors looting the money. U cant protest, if u do, police would be sent to deal with u. who controls the police? Tinubu. He cant persecute the governors, he needs them for election. These guys get money and loot it. From local govt chairmen to honourables, governors, senators, house of rep members, they collected these money and loot. We have no single benefit of the fuel subsidy removal. Politicians only got richer and budgted a lot for office furniture, change of cars. To tell u how wicked these guys are, these guys budget money for cars more than they budget fro schools and healthcare. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
god, who did black race offend? Like there is something nature hasnt told us. Probably a cursed race, i dont know. If cursed, Nigeria is worse then.
how can u budget more money for politician cars than for healthcare and education? Look at all governors, all they do is asslick president. While they do anyhow. As long as u are loyal to the president, EFCC wont come after u, if u protest, police and soldiers come for u. Omo, wetin Nigerians go do like this?
Tinubu, pls, removing fuel subsidy is not bold step o. It is not the policy Nigeria needs.
What Nigerians need is serious institutions to checkmate corruption. There is money in Nigeria but it is wasted. Like, fix that part, if govt provide 10 naira for something, let it be used for it. Money given to senators, let it be used. These are areas u need to fix. Leave whatever benefit the common man on the road.
Expanding tax coverage is not what we need in a country with 80 percent informal sector because they arent breathing. As someone who operates in the informal sector, i have no single benefit from Nigeria o. I cant even take loan to do business. They cant give me. But govt expect me to pay 25 percent of my income to them. What do I stand to gain for doing that?
I dont have health care coverage from govt that is good, public schools are terrible which means I will pay more for private education if I have kids, there is no electricity, bro I pay a lot to sustain 24/7 electricity. No be only politicians deserve soft life. I cant be working while they eat becus they are govt. I am sick and tired mehn.
I have elderly ones to care for. Govt thinks I am rich but I am struggling. Govt, I have a lot of responsibilities because u have failed in ur social contract for Nigerians.
Politcians use our money to import girls from SA, Brazil, Dubai and buy properties for their side chicks. At least salary earners in Nigeria can take loan, those of us in the informal sector we cant.
My cash flow is reasonable, i needed a loan to build a house but no bank will give me. Those in the informal sector are not benefiting a dime from Nigeria abeg
While I support you 100 percent, the issue isn't the government but the governed. Read up post on here to see how those that should unite to fight bad governance fight against themselves for very foolish reasons. The probability of having a change is very asymptomatic to zero.

What sort of comparison is this? What is the pump price per liter relative to minimum wage? Some times, i feel we are a very wicked people and we deserve the kind of leaders we get.
