Should we assume the students don't pay any fees? If they aren't fit to pay, they aren't fit to teach.

Same way no one is forced to apply for the job.

Are you asking the proprietor to run a charity? No one is forced to apply and while the salary is depressing, I think we sometimes need to take a back step out of the real world situation and think about it from a Nigeria perspective.

I wouldn't want to conclude without knowing the location of the school, the number of student, and the potential overall competitiveness of the school.

Politics / Re: Marketers, Refiners Demand Total Subsidy Removal. by GboyegaD(m): 2:53pm On Sep 12
The government is using subsidy to defraud the nation. Let the market determine the price, allow Dangote to sell to whosoever he wills at whatsoever price, so not subsidize Dangote, let the people who need the fuel buy it at the market price.

That's great. You know it. Yes, the Soup is called Marugbo , it is Ondo state version of Black soup .

I believe you know Lafun is also made from Cassava flour . Which is popular among the Egba people. You will never hear them call Lafun Amala funfun. They simply call it Lafun. Which is the name. So I find it ridiculous when people call it Amala funfun .

I think it all depends. Don't let us derail the thread. Are Lafun back in the days as a boarder schooling in Ogun State. It isn't so much of a pleasant experience perhaps, hostel food wasn't overall.

I am trying to understand what her rationale is because she did the most stupid thing anyone should do. Living a child by himself at home? A child that needs to feed every two to three hours? Now, she is likely going to face deportation at the end of her jail term.

And does that make it Amala? ....Amala is simply Amala . The ones make from peel yam.

.anybody calling Lafun or plantain flour Amala don't know what he or she is saying.......

Do you know what they call Pupuru?

Pupuru is made from cassava and yes, I know Pupuru. Our tenant and a next door neighbor growing up are from Ikale. So Pupuru is a staple around the house particularly, when they host their meetings with Marugbo (not too sure if this is how it is spelt). One interesting thing is when they start to sing in the evening into the night, it was always fun. Unfortunately, not too many meetings were hosted by them but the few ones were memorable.

My hope is that his organization has some sort of life, accident and death insurance for him of reasonable sums to help the family get their foot as they get used to the loss of their loved one.

You don't know what you are saying.

There is nothing like Amala Lafun.....It is Lafun. But most people ignorantly call it Amala Lafun .
Amala is Amala
Lafun is Lafun

Amala is made from elubo which is the product of dried peeled yam. Besides elubo, amala can be made from other products. Plantain can be dried and a powder of same can be made which then can be used to make amala.

There is nothing like plantain Amala . Amala is Amala.

What is amala if not the process by which it is made. Why do you think we have Amala Lafun? Perhaps, you should go to the local market and ask. Perhaps, if you can convince the iya olojas, then you can come back to convince me too.
Regards.

I am on fully funded scholarship for my PhD so I didnt get any question about my sponsor at my own interview.

He should try again then. Perhaps, the visa officer just wasn't in his best mood. He should also desist from saying your dad has made over N100M this year alone. He should just talk about the line of business and unless he is asked he shouldn't mention. He shouldn't over labor things.

No, I am still on F1 right now. I just thought there was an issue because he is coming to the same school.

I just read the transcript. One quick question, do your stories on your father's business line aligns? Since he must have mentioned you in this DS160, there is a possibility the visa officer reviewed the excerpt of your transcript.

I would suggest he reapplies. 70% scholarship is quite high and worth trying again for.

Okay guys. I am the one that posted that “Can you use Lagos DS160 in Abuja” — the answer is Yes, you can because my brother did that today.

He interviewed in Abuja with the DS160 that he filled for Lagos. His visa was denied though because he mentioned that he has a brother in the US (Same school). I am currently doing a PhD in the same school that he is coming. The only question he got asked is *Do you have anyone in the US and where are they* which he answered truthfully as advised. He got his own 70% scholarship and we have a strong bank statement but was still denied.

I think its because I am in the same school, do you guys think he should reapply for the visa or what can he change?

I do not think they denied him solely because of that. Have you used any public resource and are you currently in the process of changing your status from F1 to other immigrant status?

So many things are not clear and makes the whole process shady. Does anyone have the information on the crude oil given to Dangote refinery? Is it subsidized or it is at the global market price? Is he refining for the country and getting paid or he is doing it as a business entity? etc.

Quick fix dinner:

The chicken was the remaining from the last time I grilled chicken so I already knew that would make dinner fast. Decided to stroll into the grocery store to get chicken wings for lunch and realized they had some nice ripe plantain. Bought some and knew that dinner was set.

On my way home, I remembered those days my mom sold cook food at Tincan Island Bus Stop. There was a Mama Emeka who sold roasted yam and plantains. There's this vegetable sauce she makes (don't know how to make it so improvised mine with bell peppers, one tomato, and dried scent leaves) and that gave me the needed inspiration however, I wasn't ready to go the long haul of roasting the plantains.

This dinner therefore is an ode to Mama Emeka.

Please don't make the officer's case a story for another day. I guess this is the reason why in recent times I was told to stop putting as discussed in my bank transfers as it could be implicating. Maybe I will change it to charity going forward.

Looks so good 😊 can you share recipe please ?

For the soup, I buy peanuts and mill them at the store. On a low medium fry pan, I toast the milled peanuts. The idea is to add some nuttiness to the taste. In a cooking pot, boil the proteins you intend using (most times, I boil the different proteins separately because they require different times to cook and it is not all stocks you use in cooking). While the proteins are boiling and you have toasted the milled peanuts to a reasonable extent, wash your bitter leaf (I use dry bitter leaves so most times, I soak them earlier). Once they are tender to your satisfaction, add a little palm oil and ground pepper. Allow them to boil to prevent the oil from having a funny taste on your tongue when eating. Once the palm oil is cooked, add your peanut and stir properly. If it is too thick, you can add a little stock. Once it starts to cook, you add the bitter leaf reduce the heat and allow it more time for everything to meddle together.

For the pounded yam, peel the yam and add to a pot of boiling water. Allow the yam to cook and transfer into a food processor using the plastic one (I don't know the name it is called but I mean the thing that rotates inside the food processor). Use the dough option and once it is smooth, transfer into a big bowl and use your spatula (turning stick) to ensure it is very smooth. Put your cling film in a deep soup bowl, cut the pounded yam inside, and wrap well.

Are you alright? Who's bewitched who? What prayers are you talking about? Apparently, you have watched only miracle services and now believe God only does miracles. Go read your Galatians 6 verse 7.

You're a good cook

Decided to bake meat pies after a while. Baked half and freeze the other half and stored them in a ziploc for the next time I want to bake them. I will like to see if there's a difference in baking in bulk and freezing them or doing it in piece meals.

I presume the latter should be better.

@blindangel,
Just checking on you and also writing to let you know that you will have to deal with her for a large number of years since there's a child between you both. You both need to learn to co-parent. It is obvious you ar not matured for marriage and putting the blame of you marrying her on you. Trying to say you love dark chubby woman and married the opposite is in you.

Wish you the best in coparenting.

That's all. But if you don't get the minced ones, you can buy the whole leaf one and blend when you finish cooking it.

I don't thaw it, I just put it in a bowl of hot water to defrost it. I sometimes add grinded pumpkin seed to it for nutrition.

Truth be told sir or ma, I do not see where you asked for NAF Clinic account details. Also, I have to checked the account number today when he kept mentioning personal account to confirm if the NAF cashier gave us her personal account details.

I am very okay with what you said sir. I will make enquiry about the general hospital at ikorodu and post everything including the hospital account details for everyone in this thread to see. I have nothing to hide.

Thank you sir or ma. May you bless you

If possible, I will suggest you continue with NAF so that you don't start all over. Go back to NAF, get the information, and post it on here. That way you are not delaying the process since it has already started.
