lawani: We have always had a low revenue to GDP challenge in Nigeria which is no longer serious now courtesy the current government but it is still there. Make comments only on things you have studied or that you have enough understanding of. There is no need for a first to comment competition or who makes the most comments competition and etc on all threads that you must participate in The governments over the years have collected loans to fund infrastructural developments, how many have they achieved? Learn to make the government responsible instead of shifting goal post each time tou are shown that your point isn't sufficient. |

Also, it is more honourable to beg than to go into crime but it is better for everyone to be well paid and not depend on tips. If you can afford to buy a new TV on a whim, what is the big deal in giving a small amount of money as a tip? Where did you get such a conclusion from? lawani: Revenue. Mention the ones with low government revenue or budget to GDP ratio that is a successful country. Tax sometimes can be an insignificant component of revenue We don't have a low revenue challenge, our challenge is embezzlement and corruption. Most of the middle easy countries developed on oil revenue. |

lawani: .If something has never happened then it will never happen. No country with very low revenue to GDP has ever risen Oga, many countries similar to Nigeria have grown with low tax revenue to GDP ratio. Countries rich in natural resources like ours grew with their resource revenues. Stop parading lies as truth. |

lawani: Lagos and Abuja or PH maybe expensive because of rent and if you really have high income you would be able to afford to go off grid so electricity costs would not be significant. We are not talking of a luxury lifestyle here but comfortable living. Flying in Nigeria today is a luxury and it is even more expensive here than in high income countries. The most senior civil servants are not paid ten million naira per annum after decades of service and you are saying thirty million naira is not enough for you in an average Nigerian city? Can a senior civil servant in any state be described as poor? Why are you so conflicted? How many people outside of the cities you mentioned make that much? Why do you think flying is luxury in a country where government can't provide security yet you hail the government? |

benardtotti: I will try my very best to answer you not as a supporter of the apc but as a Nigerian who advocates proper governance .
First the decay didn't start with this government, it is over 50 years old , when nigeria found wealth with oil in the 70s Gowon made that famous statement that Nigeria's problem is not money but how to spend it , that was the beginning of the lack of accountability that entered governance in nigeria as politicians ajd even the military ended up spending money on white elephant projects, doing subsidy ,and dashing our fellow african countries money .
Meanwhile other countries like uae who also found wealth in oil around the same time sat down and mapped out a blueprint on how to use the oil wealth to develop their country .
You can blame tinubu all you want but the reason I admire his courage is that he didn't come in and do the same populist nonsense other leaders that got us into the mess in the first place , at least he tried to reform the system.
No politician in his first term will try what tinubu did .
Finally , after all said and done even if he looses and a new person comes in how sure are you that they won't continue with Tinubu’s policies ? Will they revoke the tax act ? Will they bring back subsidy and begin to pay dangote to supply fuel at 500 per litre ?
Where will they get funds to pay off all our debts ?etc
Forget partisan politics for an instance and go thru all I wrote logically and reply . I find the bolded amusing. Removing the subsidy and wasting the money saved from it is the main crux of the OP's discuss. If the current government removed all those subsidies you mentioned and are borrowing at the rate they are, you should be more than concerned. |

gaddafe: I own a private school. You can be arrested for administering paracetamol. Infact when health officials come for inspection and they check your first aid box, they don't expect to see any form of medication in it. They will tell you that you are operating a school not a clinic. And that should you have an issue, you should call the parents before even taking the child to the hospital. I have challenged this severally but this is how the government wants it. It is their policy. Only a concrete law from the legislature can change this. Don't you have a qualified registered nurse making the sick bay? |

Mariangeles: In the midst of the crisis, the teachers did everything but rush the boy to the hospital.
They even got someone to drive him home.🙄 I was talking to a group of teachers recently and you can tell they are not allowed to admit basic first aid. The discussion was due to us being called that my nephew who is a boarder had cold and we should come pick him from school. You know they gave us this consent form to sign that should our wards die in school, we wouldn't sue Lagos State Government. A teacher also mentioned how she almost got sacked for administering paracetamol. The parent if the child claimed they only use herbs for their child and it became a big issue. It is unfortunate what we have turned things to but what can we all do? |

MasterTeeUSA: I do not get all these lamentations. In Berlin, you have to pay for trolley. If you dont have 1 Euro coin, you have no ways to get one and you are stuck. In US, for a 30 mins trip, plan to pay over $60 which is close to N80k. You waited for luggage...well I waited for luggages in Gatwick and at Dulles Airport...heaven did not fall.
Maybe you are not matured enough to travel with a child or travel at all. We do not sing all these Songs of Lamentations abroad. Even Flights get delayed like crazy...no one goes into a tirade. It is when we get to Nigeria that we act like everything is perfect abroad. Free buses from airport...in what country...maybe within the airport but even at Heathrow, there are no free buses from airport Lol.
Thank God some of us have traveled, else people like you will paint a fake picture. How long was the wait for the luggage at Dulles? That said, since MM2 got burnt and the plane has to park far away from the point of entry, getting one's luggage is now very very difficult. It takes well over an hour which isn't fair. |

Firstly, I'd say we're architect of our fortune or otherwise in life. We can all begin to getting it right by voting right leaders in governing positions. Take it or you leave it, the masses are always at the receiving end, irrespective of tribal affiliations.
I just dropped off my son at his school today and I knew how much I paid in school fees alone, not to talk of provisions, pocket money, mention it. I get pikin wey dey university too, a private one for that matter.
All I can say is, God's grace has been sufficient for me.
Don't wait until you have a 2-bed before you get married. Things will get better with time. Let your fiancé agree with you on this. Plan for your future. By the time you attain our level, stress or pressure won't be much. If you have the opportunity to japa, don't hesitate but japa with sense. Go to school and come back as I always advocate.
