The Unilag pre-medical student protested yesterday,Wednesday 10th of January.It was a peaceful protest.The main road was blocked and the closed the school first gate as well.
Protest based on the Unilag Pre-med. crossing crisis started from the Senate Building with the hope of seeing the VC to address the issue but he didn’t show up for one or two reasons.The ULSU Preseident, Mr Mohammed Olaniyi, came to address the students on this but still not pleasing.The students https://unilaglabodinho./2016/02/11/lastest-news-on-pre-med-unilag/
is it possible for this to happen to the 2015/2016 set and the next ones? I pray this doesn't happen to the new sets oh!

Dunno why people are wasting their precious time advising you. Your low self esteem and feeling of worthlessness is contagious.

Every sane person who followed your previous thread knows you have a poor perception of yourself. You know nothing, and you're just too dull to learn.

Dunno who pushes these dumb shits to front page.
Abi oh, i wonder for her, i just pray it's not too late for her to recieve sense. Lack of self esteem indeed. SMH for her, what a pity.

Nkasiobi87:
Good morning everyone. If you have been reading my previous posts then you will know very well how my story has been. After getting a job and trying to ignore My husband'S cheating and other cruel characters towards me, he cheats with a female church member and promises her that he will marry her as a second wife.

After much talking which could not bring any positive results, I decided to let them be And mind my own business. He still enters my room when he feels like doing it with me. Now it happens that am 2Months pregnant after 5 kids. I told him about it he was happy at that given time. I then thought that maybe he will change this time to become a better father.

On Sunday while the morning prayer was going on, I couldn't stand up because I have started showing signs of pregnancy. I was feeling very anemic so I decided to sit down. My husband came out and stopped the prayer and started saying that I sat down because I wanted to show his mistress that am pregnant and that am doing drama for her mistress, something that I have never thought of doing. He started calling me all sorts of names all to calm the mistress down incase she notices that am pregnant. All to show the mistress that he is not happy with me being pregnant. All to make me feel bad and not happy of my condition.

While the congregation and the mistress were watching and laughing. When I couldn't take it anymore, I decided to walkout of the church. one of his workers ran after me and forcefully drew me back which left a mark on my neck. His claim is that I shouldn't move out while his pastor is talking. I pushed him out of my way, he slapped me inside church while my hubby watch. with the little strength in me I fight back and leave the church premises. I was so hurt that I want to revenge on my husband and his worker. how will I be proud of this pregnant now that he has said in his congregation that all am doing is noting but a show how painful. how do I pay him back.I really wish the worst on them now.God help me that I didn't do something unlawful to them.
woman, if you love yourself ehn, leave that pit you call marriage and find better things to do with your life because it's quite obvious that you are a piece of trash to your husband and his congregation and yet you're still staying among them expecting them to show you love? Maybe when they kill you and turn your kids to motherless children and slaves then you'll be happy . SMH in disgust #irritatedAtFoolishnessOfSomePeople

hmm. Gray's that text scares me. I used it few months into my 200L. Abandoned it when I discovered Keith Moore and Chaurasia gat what I needed....
wha t scares you about the book?
Education / Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Gbsks: 8:49pm On Jan 27, 2016
DrHesjay:

Baba, how far?
I advise that you study all d soft copies of those books to know which of them u prefer. Then get the hard copies of the ones u prefer...
This way, u won't waste money on books u won't eventually read.
.
Embryology...
People will tell u to get Saddler's or Developing Human. study the first 2 topics in the soft copies. Get the one u prefer. I use developing human b while majority of my class mates use Saddler's...
.
Biochemistry
They will tell u to get either Harpers or Lippincotts.
I made d mistake of not studying the soft copies, and I got Harpers.. I regret that decision till tomorrow.. I just wanted the money.. I dnt understand anything Inside d hook.. I just have a natural hatred for it. It has bn with a friend for over 5months now..
I cane across Vasudevan's and I loved it.. Then I got the hard copy.. And biochemistry became 'okro'.. Thats y u should study those books before buying..

Histology:
there are lots of options in histology.. But most people use Junquira. I also got junquira.. But later, I found 'Singh's'... and I bought the hardcopy.. Since then, Singh's became my first choice.. it simplifies everything.. Tho I still use d junquira sometimes.
.
Gross..
The big thing.. As usual... all students get Clinically oriented anatomy(Keith Moore)
If u r not rili the 'softcopy' person.. I advise u get 2 books on gross.. probably Keith Moore and Chaurasia... There's also one brilliant book that I came across.. can't remember d name but they call it 'Above/Below Diaphragm' The book has 2 volumes... 'Above Diaphragm' and 'below diaphragm'.. if u can get it.. good for u oo.. Most people dnt understand that Keith Moore wastes time.. or maybe I am d only one that sees that..
.
Physiology:
It all depends on what you like... But since u r coming to Ilorin.. get Ganong... u just have to use d book.. I hate the book tho'.. I prefer Guyton.. But in ilorin, u have no choice, if u dnt want to fail.. u just have to use Ganong..
.
Basically.. Get at least
* One Gross anatomy book
* One Physiology book
* One embryology book
* One biochemistry book
* One histology book.
* One Anatomy Atlas(Netters preferably)
* Cunningham Dissection manual
* A medical dictionary
.
You can get more, it depends on you..
But above all.. never get too far from your soft copies..
On each course, on d average, I have like 5 soft copy books each..
It helps.
Bro, what's ur take on gray's anatomy for student's textbook for gross anatomy, i've come across the book before and i think it's great. Cc.lomaxx, lagusta, charleymed, chartey.

Wow!!! and they still have the 33k/session for returning students on their website and 57,700 for freshmen consistently on other websites!

pls I don't know anyone at OAU. The one I know, I saw his number here; though not a medical student but have said he has a lot of them - friends and then I asked if he could help me with any of them's number and he raised his voice revealing to me like I'm disturbing him or since he doesn't know me, maybe I might be the wrong person in the facade of OAU aspirant and their lives would be endangered! So, that if I have anything to enquire about I should ask him and he's not giving me what I needed to hear from his vocals!!
I just don't know!

could you pls share me the curricular if it's at hand Sir_? pls!!
I can't ask if you know anyone schooling there oo, in case you'll think I'd endanger their lives too.. but it's so bad how people have withdrawn to their shells for security... but it's necessary though but the shell is not even secure enough to proffer safety!
see the change will be effected as from next session i.e when registeration starts. You can't see it now, but i can assure you it has been approved. Penboy abeg come and confirm this cos he b lyk say dis guy no believe.

@Gbsks!

why do you want to change Sir?

@Lontra, I have a friend whose friend was his mate... they just resumed 300L Zoology at KSU!
The guy was admitted at Unillorin to study medicine and he left his zoology for it.. he was already in 200L second semester almost resuming 300 when the great call tapped him.. since it was what he pursued with his sweat and life and not only desired but longed to see it manifested, he treated his current program with insignificance compared to this call and he had to leave!!!

my counsel: if medicine is a calling or vocation that you are self convinced God has elected/chosen you to serve, then everything else is insignificant because purpose is not fulfilled in it!!!
So, medicine is a calling.. only those to whom it's given understands this.. those to who can't visualize themselves in something else in life oR while they live!!!
many could be obsessed with same passion as those to whom it has been given but the contrast is that purpose of living or of life is fulfilled for them and the pay is something secondary!

So, is medicine your purpose? are fulfilling life if you go there? if it is, nothing is too much to give up for purpose my friend.. mine is medicine, currently in zoology 100L, even if in 300 I'm being admitted, I'm giving it up cause all others are sundry and shadows of life for me!
I'm dropping it like a bad habit!

But look, I understand your plight and where the difficulty is stressed from.. when you asked "is it worth it"? the qualms is with mom and dad! after spending 2years of time and finance, leaving just like that to begin a fresh one without ending the former is to an extent exasperating!
Thing is, if your conviction holds it tight.. they'll see it right.. you make them understand things okay?
purpose is the most mattering matter in life.. it's not just entering school quick and bearing student" with your pointer as the university,. it's about purpose friend!
purpose is another thing next to life or having life not even hope! it comes before hope..
everything happening in our lives is/should be tied to purpose, then we can hope, hope to become better of our lives!
all of us are equal to not living or having lived outside/without purpose!

it's worth it all if it's your purpose and you are convinced.. friend!
The first reason is due to slow academic calendar because as of now there is likely to be another protest due to the addition of 50k to the current tuition fee of college of health sciences student of the school which will be effected as from next session. The second reason is that i need a change of environment as i will soon be a part 3 student in my present course of study.

With this new system, there be admission into medicine and surgery but the first 4 years ll now be run like other courses in semester system and there ll be grading (cgpa). All students must choose there course of interest in the 4th year which they ll be givenBsc in. The next 3 years ll be for clinical students.
Those with Bsc inanatomy, physiology and med biochemistry ll now use 3 years to get MBBS or BDS. Those with degree from biological sciences ll have to use 6 years cos they have no knowledge of the basic medical courses. Other health related courses ll use 4 years to obtain the MBBS degree.
so for someone with biological science degree what course will he apply for d.e ? Medicine or anatomy/physiology?
