My school granted an enrollment extension, so i’ll still be joining them this summer semester which started April 11th.

The reason they gave for the delay is that the alien office in Berlin was/is overwhelmed by the refugee situation (to cut the long story short)

My candid advice for students admitted to Berlin Institutions - apply for your visa in time (at least 5 - 6 months before your enrollment). Otherwise, use admission letters from other institutions from other cities, if you have that.

I think the situation is getting better now that most EU countries are now rejecting and returning the refugees.

This is not true, I know of 2 people that came to Berlin to start the summer semester and they got their visa in the normal 6 - 8weeks bracket. The department that attend to refugees is different from that which attend to students in the same foreigner office. Like I said to you earlier, your case was an extreme case and don't generalize with it. Congrats on your visa.

Bros your cousin's grade was below average. The lower the point here, the better your result is. E.g 2.0 is phd grade

If you know that you dont have anybody to send money to you when your 8000€ finishes try all your best to secure admission in a city where you can get job, e.g Berlin,Munich, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Bremen,Frankfurt,Bonn,etc, infact dont go to a school that is located in a village like europa university frankfurt(order) in eastern germany, Freiburg,erfurt,postdam etc. You can work here, like myself i started working after 1month with mercedes, be ready to do hard job, cleaning job, if you know how to speak German then everything will be easy for you, you will be the one to select job but mostly manual jobs. If you cannot speak German, you can also get a job, in average big cities, it not difficult to get a student job of 450€ per month. Try to get student accommodation in your school because it goes for 200 to 250€ in most unis, outside rent a shared appartment outside the student accomodation ranges from 270 to 450€ depending on the city you living e.g Hamburg and munich may not have room that less than 300€ per month but smaller city like Bremen will have from 270€. You can after paying house rent and insurance your student working of 450€ is finished then you use your block account maybe 100€ from it to feed for a month. This is reason why somebody that is having it in mind to become overnight rich when he comes to Germany while studying have to have a rethink because definitely it is not going to be easy hustling through out and going to school with German system of education where the work load of exercises every week is as big as mountain.

At the bolded, don't go to a village in any part of Germany. Kleve is a village in the North, but people there can tell you how it is.... you have to travel to köln or dusseldorf to get work. People in postdam, frankfurter oder and Cottbus get job in berlin but the travel time is killing.
It's not about East, South, West or North. If your sending your blocked account money back home or you are using sponsorship, let the big or relatively big cities be your target. Please and please don't go to a place with 50k population because it's in the west or south.... you go cry eeeewwweeee. No matter how bad it is in a big city, you will always find something to do to sustain you.
For example in Berlin, 1. you get 2 years straight residency no need to get another 8k for the 2nd year, 2. relative to other big cities in Germany, accomodation/social life is cheap here, which means you can save more than someone in Munich for example 3. You can earn up to 950/month b4 u start paying tax. These and many more are advantages of been in a big city.
He who has ear let him hear, do not fall for the north, West, south or east theory.

My humble advise to 2016 hopefuls - Do not apply for a student visa interview with Berlin Universities' admission letters, unless you have 3-4 clear months in between your interview date and your enrollment deadline

Please don't generalize with your case, Do you know how many people came to berlin this winter?. As much as I agree that Berlin takes time, there is no need to exaggerate the time 3-4 months (haba fear God na). On a normal day, Berlin takes at least 6/7weeks after interview.
Let's learn to say things the way they are. Your case was an exceptional.

Hasty generalization is one the biggest problem we have as Nigerians and Africans. Different Strokes for different folks they say.
You know 1 or 2 peeps having difficulty in getting jobs in Germany, suddenly there is no job in Germany?
Because a professor told you something, it suddenly became general?

What you read online about Germany in need of "skilled workers" is very true but misinterpreted by many. Germany's economy and population is fine as it is But th e population is not growing as fast as the economy and studies have shown that Germans are not ready to increase child birth thus, the economy will become unsustainable in 20 years time if something is not done along the way. Germany need is not an "immediate" one rather a gradual, steady and systematic one. The high rate of refugee acceptance is a testimony to this.

Many things have been said about school ratings but I will like to share one of the conclusions from the wealth of Heterodox Economist latest research about inequality and standard of living: comparing Germany and US "one of the main Reasons why inequality is lower and standard of living is higher in Germany is that it does not matter which university you send your child to because Education in Germany is publicly financed while you have to buy it with private funds in the US to send your child to the best. Middle and low income earners in Germany do not have to compete with the high income earners to give their children quality education and have social mobility". As far as I know what is important in this part of the world is your grade at the end of the day, whether in uni or unioas, always strife to be the best.

Working and studying it's all about knowing yourself and time management. Working doesn't mean you be the worst in your class and not working doesn't mean you will be the best in your class. I worked during my 1st semester and am still an above average student in my class meanwhile I have other Nigerian students in my class who said they want to concentrate and settle down in there 1st semester 1st and end up failing 1 or 2 courses. €8040 is a lot of money but check your account balance after your 1st 6 months that will tell you your next line of action. As for people like me who no get anyone to send dem dine naija, working and studying is not easy but possible. Know yourself, settle in fast and manage your time well.

I will say it also depends on what you want but from my part of the country na Cameroonians full here and they will never ever follow you, na white wey go give dem paper den de find up and down. Also, most black girls will never split the bills with you on a date, abeg you won de spend ur block money on babe and u no de work? Even if u de work, na on top babe u won de spend ur hard earn money? Be wise.

They av excellent services nd don't waste much time . I took it frm Lagos to new uork, we are suppose to be on transit in morocco for 2 hrs before flying to New york but guess wat we d not spend 30 minutes before we took off frm morocco. But dey are very strict about alcohol so don't try it at all.

Questions peeps ask lately on this thread are just pathetic. You want to go for masters and you can't use your discretion on little issues makes me wonder how some peeps graduated from school. E.g. AK's write up in the last pages of part1 of this thread dealt with alot of issues including how 3rd class graduates and grad with less than 3.0cgpa can gain admission in Germany and he has made reference to that write in this part2 yet, peeps keep asking the same questions. The most annoying part is that esdajo still gave a clue using himself as an example and peeps are still asking to give lists of school that will accept 3rd class and the school that gave him admission. It is just pathetic.

Please don't get me wrong, am not saying peeps should not ask for help/question but let us try and do some little research on our part. You just can't keep asking questions like list of schools to apply to, that offers this, that accepts this, if you can photocopy your certified documents etc. Like seriously?
