The children's jumping tampouline at my nebors house ended on another compound last night destroying their fence. Surprisingly internet, gas and electricity were not affected so far.

Heavy rain and gusts of wind reaching more than 90mph have brought widespread flooding and travel disruption as Storm Ciara hits the UK.

Trees were toppled, buildings were damaged and some homes had to be evacuated as rivers burst their banks.

Thousands of people are without electricity and sporting events have been cancelled due to the weather.

Airlines have also cancelled hundreds of flights, while several rail firms have urged passengers not to travel.

Ferry passengers also face delays and cancellations, and drivers have been warned to take extra care.

Large parts of the UK are covered by an amber warning for very strong winds, with the Met Office advising that large waves in coastal areas and flying debris could cause injuries.

The home of Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been attacked by fans armed with flares on Tuesday night.

Footage on social media shows a small number of supporters throwing the incendiary objects over the gate of Woodward's property with graffiti also reportedly sprayed on the fence surrounding his home.

It's believed that neither Woodward or his family were home at the time of the attack with the Red Devils quick to condemn an incident which is now being investigated by police.

"Manchester United Football Club have tonight been made aware of the incident outside the home of one of our employees," a club statement released on Tuesday night read.

"We know that the football world will unite behind us as we work with Greater Manchester Police to identify the perpetrators of this unwarranted attack. Anybody found guilty of a criminal offence, or found to be trespassing on this property, will be banned for life and may face prosecution.

"Fans expressing opinion is one thing, criminal damage and intent to endanger life is another. There is simply no excuse for this."

The attack comes just days after United's FA Cup victory over Tranmere was overshadowed by threatening fan chants that were directed Woodward.

One reported example went: "Gonna die, gonna die, Ed Woodward’s gonna die. How we kill him, I don’t know. Chop him up from head to toe. All I know is Woodward’s gonna die."

Woodward has become a figure of increasing frustration among Red Devils supporters as the club has struggled to compete since the retirement of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 48-year-old played a key role in the Glazer's takeover of United in 2005 and was subsequently handed a role within the club before being named executive vice-chairman in 2012.

In his first transfer window in the position, Woodward failed to win fans over with a lack of signings and the decision to bring in Marouane Fellaini from Everton widely ridiculed.

This month, the Red Devils have once again struggled to get deals done but do however now look close to signing Sporting attacker Bruno Fernandes.

The Portugal international has scored 15 goals and provided 14 assists in 27 appearances for Sporting this season across all competitions.

Super agent Jorge Mendes threw Fernandes' prospective move to Old Trafford into serious doubt on Wednesday after admitting he 'doesn't know' if he will leave the Portuguese giants this month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been chasing the attacking midfielder since last summer, but Mendes was not convinced it would get done during the winter window.

When asked if he expected a deal to be completed for the 25-year-old, he said: 'I don't know. If he doesn't leave now, he will leave for sure in the summer because Sporting have already spoken with other clubs.

'Something will happen but I am not sure if now or at the end of the season.'

Portuguese media have followed the potential transfer of Fernandes closely and a report in A Bola on Wednesday suggested that United had made a breakthrough in their pursuit of the midfielder.

It was believed an offer of around £55m had taken the deal forward, but that now no longer seems to be the case as Sporting look to get top dollar for their star man.

When asked about the transfer window, Solskjaer admitted plans to improve the team and add fresh faces are still in place.

'We're looking to strengthen and we know we have to,' he said after Wednesday night's 2-0 home defeat by Burnley.

'We let some players go because we needed to start afresh. We know we need quality and numbers.

'I think everyone can see that these players are being stretched. They are stretched and I have got absolutely no complaints on any of them because they give absolutely everything they've got.'

United believe the demands are 'unreasonable' and have elected to break off from negotiations, according to The Sun.

United had been confident of completing a £55m deal for the Portugal midfielder earlier this week.

Talks between the two clubs hit an impasse over the weekend, with the Portuguese giants unhappy with the structuring of the deal.

The two clubs have been at loggerheads over the fee, with Sporting holding out for as much as £68m. United are said to have offered £42.5m up-front, with a further £8.5m in add-ons.

Sporting were not satisfied with the add-ons and wanted more of the fee in advance, believing that the 25-year-old midfielder, who stormed off the pitch and pushed a camera after Tuesday night's defeat by Braga, would be unlikely to meet the clauses in the deal.

The Sun claim that co-chairman Joel Glazer has now decided to walk away from the deal as he does not think Fernandes is worth what Sporting are demanding.

The Queen's latest health issue comes after her husband Prince Philip was taken to hospital in the run-up to Christmas.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II was forced to call off a royal engagement just half an hour before she was due to arrive because of a health issue.

The Queen sparked health concerns after she was forced to pull out of an engagement she carries out every year because of a cold. The monarch was due to visit the Sandringham branch of the Women's Institute in Norfolk today.

However, the Queen caught a cold and no longer felt "up to" attending the meeting at the West Newton Village hall, a member of her security team said.

During her yearly visit to the Women's Institute, Her Majesty usually enjoys tea and cake with the ladies members of the association.

She then listens to a speech delivered every year by a different guest.

This year, the speech was delivered by BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.

This annual visit is particularly important for the monarch, who has been attending meetings at the Women's Institute since 1943.

(CNN)Scientists have created the world's first living, self-healing robots using stem cells from frogs.

Named xenobots after the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) from which they take their stem cells, the machines are less than a millimeter (0.04 inches) wide -- small enough to travel inside human bodies. They can walk and swim, survive for weeks without food, and work together in groups.

These are "entirely new life-forms," said the University of Vermont, which conducted the research with Tufts University's Allen Discovery Center.

Stem cells are unspecialized cells that have the ability to develop into different cell types. The researchers scraped living stem cells from frog embryos, and left them to incubate. Then, the cells were cut and reshaped into specific "body forms" designed by a supercomputer -- forms "never seen in nature," according to a news release from the University of Vermont

The cells then began to work on their own -- skin cells bonded to form structure, while pulsing heart muscle cells allowed the robot to move on its own. Xenobots even have self-healing capabilities; when the scientists sliced into one robot, it healed by itself and kept moving.

"These are novel living machines," said Joshua Bongard, one of the lead researchers at the University of Vermont, in the news release. "They're neither a traditional robot nor a known species of animal. It's a new class of artifact: a living, programmable organism."

Xenobots don't look like traditional robots -- they have no shiny gears or robotic arms. Instead, they look more like a tiny blob of moving pink flesh. The researchers say this is deliberate -- this "biological machine" can achieve things typical robots of steel and plastic cannot.

Traditional robots "degrade over time and can produce harmful ecological and health side effects," researchers said in the study, which was published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. As biological machines, xenobots are more environmentally friendly and safer for human health, the study said.

The xenobots could potentially be used toward a host of tasks, according to the study, which was partially funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, a federal agency that oversees the development of technology for military use.

Xenobots could be used to clean up radioactive waste, collect microplastics in the oceans, carry medicine inside human bodies, or even travel into our arteries to scrape out plaque. The xenobots can survive in aqueous environments without additional nutrients for days or weeks -- making them suitable for internal drug delivery.

Aside from these immediate practical tasks, the xenobots could also help researchers to learn more about cell biology -- opening the doors to future advancement in human health and longevity.

"If we could make 3D biological form on demand, we could repair birth defects, reprogram tumors into normal tissue, regenerate after traumatic injury or degenerative disease, and defeat aging," said the researchers' website. This research could have "a massive impact on regenerative medicine (building body parts and inducing regeneration.)"

It may all sound like something from a dystopian sci-fi movie, but the researchers say there is no need for alarm.

The organisms come pre-loaded with their own food source of lipid and protein deposits, allowing them to live for a little over a week -- but they can't reproduce or evolve. However, their lifespan can increase to several weeks in nutrient-rich environments.

And although the supercomputer -- a powerful piece of artificial intelligence -- plays a big role in building these robots, it's "unlikely" that the AI could have evil intentions.

"At the moment though it is difficult to see how an AI could create harmful organisms any easier than a talented biologist with bad intentions could," said the researchers' website.

A major update to WhatsApp means the world’s most popular messaging app is about to stop working on millions of phones around the world.

From 1 January, anyone using Windows phones will no longer be able to access the Facebook-owned app, while people running older versions of Android or iOS will lose support at the end of January.

WhatsApp said blocking certain mobile operating systems from using the app was necessary in order to ensure the security of its users.

“Because we no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time,” WhatsApp wrote in a series of posts to its website.

“For the best experience, we recommend you use the latest version of iOS [or Android] available for your phone.”

Android phones running an older version of 2.33 – also known as Gingerbread – will lose support, as well as iPhone owners that use iOS 8 or earlier.

Anyone affected by this will be unable to create a new account, as well as being blocked from their existing accounts.

Apple released iOS 8 in 2014, meaning anyone with an iPhone 6 or newer will be spared from the purge. iOS 8 is compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, so owners of these phones are advised to update their devices if they have not done so already.

For owners of Android handsets, which represent the majority of WhatsApp users, the situation is slightly more complicated.

Android Gingerbread came out in 2010, so every single Google, Huawei, Samsung and Sony smartphone of the last decade is safe. However, certain models released before 2010 will also be safe, so long as they are updated to the latest version available to them.

Anyone with a Windows phone who wishes to save their chat histories before the deadline will be able to do so by selecting ‘Export chat’ within the each chat’s settings.

WINDOWS 7's end of life arrives this month, which means those who want to stay up-to-date will have to pay to upgrade their ageing hardware to Windows 10.

Microsoft has been warning us that this day would come. And now, it’s almost here. Windows 7 end of life lands on January 14, 2020. After that deadline, Windows users running older versions of the desktop operating system will face a difficult choice – cough-up for a hefty bill to upgrade to Windows 10, or brace themselves for some dangerous risks on their home PC.

By ending support for the ageing Windows 7 operating system, which was first launched back in July 2009, Microsoft will stop rolling-out updates with new features, security updates or protections against malware. That means any issues with the software – or any new vulnerabilities discovered by cybercriminals – can be leveraged from indefinitely. Less serious, perhaps – but this also means any annoying bugs or glitches that crop-up will also be immortalised in the operating system.

If you’d like to benefit from the latest security protections and anti-virus solutions from Microsoft, you’ll have to update your machine to an operating system the Redmond-based company does support – namely, Windows 10. Although Microsoft has offered free upgrades to users running official versions of its operating systems in the past, that’s not possible at the moment.

We’ve heard from a number of loyal readers who swear there are still ways to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 for free using tools provided by Microsoft, however representatives from Microsoft tell us that its no-cost upgrade offer expired on July 29, 2016 and there is no officially sanctioned way to update your machine without paying.

The firm also says that for the vast majority of Windows 7 users, moving to a new device with Windows 10 preinstalled is the recommended path – not upgrading the operating system on the older hardware.

Those wanting to install Windows 10 Home edition on their current hardware will need to pay £119.99 (N57000) which is licensed to one PC. And that's the cheapest available option.

The price to upgrade your PC spirals to £219.99 (N105000) for Windows 10 Pro and a jaw-dropping £339 (N163000) for Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. At £219.99 for the upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, Microsoft’s argument about moving to a new notebook, with all the benefits of a new display, trackpad, keyboard, and most importantly of all, battery – makes a little more sense.

It’s unclear whether the US company will offer any kind of price cuts, discounts or promotions nearer to the final deadline. But as of now, you’re looking down the barrel of a pretty hefty bill if you want to upgrade.

A witness told CBS that the armed man walked up to a server during the communion and opened fire.

'You feel like your life is flashing before you. I was so worried about my little one,' witness Isabel Arreola said.

According to WFAA, in the video a person wearing a large coat can be seen standing up and pulling out either a rifle or a shotgun. The shooter appears to fire twice before a member of the congregation shot back.

According to one member of the church, who was watching the livestream, the shooter walked back and said something to one of the deacons.

The gunman then 'moved a few feet and pulled a shotgun and opened fire'.

'A third deacon, who is a concealed carry instruction, and retired law enforcement officer, shot the guy before he could fire a third time!' the witness wrote on Facebook.

While the shots were being fired, people ducked under church pews and others rushed towards the shooter with handguns.

A church leader then tries to calm people down, while members of the congregation scream and cry.

In a statement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said: 'Our hearts go out to the victims and families of those killed in the evil act of violence that occurred at the West Freeway Church of Christ.

'Places of worship are meant to be sacred and I am grateful for the church member who acted quickly to take down the shooter and help prevent further loss of life.'

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said he was 'shocked and saddened' to hear about the shooting.

'As reports come in, please pray for any victims and their families, this congregation, and the law enforcement officials at the scene. My office will assist in any way needed,' he added.

White Settlement police have not responded to requests for comment. White Settlement is about 8 miles west of Fort Worth.

It is not the first deadly shooting to take place at a church in Texas.

In November 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley opened fire on the congregation at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, killing more than two dozen worshippers, before taking his own life.

Two people have been killed in a church shooting near Fort Worth in Texas.
One person died at the scene, while another victim died en route to the hospital.
MedStar Mobile Healthcare spokesperson said shooter was one person who died.
Third person is in critical condition and is being treated at hospital, officials say.
The service at West Freeway Church was being live-streamed at time of shooting.
Witnesses said the gunman was shot dead by a member of the congregation.
Authorities have not released any other details about what led to the shooting.

A gunman has killed one person and critically injured another inside a packed Texas church during a livestreamed service before he was shot dead by an armed member of the congregation.
MedStar Mobile Healthcare spokeswoman Macara Trusty said two people were fatally shot at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement.

Trusty said she was told by a supervisor at the scene that one of the people who died was the shooter.
A third person is in critical condition and is being treated at a hospital. All of the victims are male, she said.

The shooting was reported Sunday morning during the 10am service at the church. The service was being live-streamed at the time of the shooting.
Authorities have not released any details about what led to the shooting.
An elder at the church told the New York Times that one of those killed was a security guard who responded to the shooter, calling him a dear friend.

'He was trying to do what he needed to do to protect the rest of us,' said elder, Mike Tinius.

The top earning Instagrammers of 2019: Cristiano Ronaldo tops list with £38.2million ahead of Lionel Messi and highest-paid woman Kendall Jenner in third on £12.7million

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned the highest earner on Instagram this year as it is revealed the footballer raked in a staggering £38.2million ($47.8million).

The Portuguese footballer, 34, earned an eye-watering £780,000 ($975,000) per post, according to the rich list compiled by Buzz Bingo.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese footballer has 194 million followers on Instagram and shares pictures of his sporting success, family and workouts earning him £38.2million ($47.8million) in 2019.
The father-of-four signed a four-year contract with Italian Juventus Football Club last year and captains the Portuguese national team.

Ronaldo earns £28million-a-year ($36.6million) in wages at Juventus, after taxes, making his Instagram platform a lucrative business.
He had a total of 49 ad posts this year where he promoted Nike football boots, his own fragrance, CR7 Play it Cool, and even a hair loss consultation site.
Last year he became the first player to score 400 goals across Europe's top five leagues.

2. Lionel Messi
Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi came in at number two on the rich list with a total earning this year of £18.7million ($23.3million).

David Beckham has become the highest earning British star on Instagram for a second year.
The former footballer, 44, can reportedly make up to £286,000 ($357,000) for posting a single sponsored image and uploaded 30 ad posts this year totalling £8.6million ($10.7million).
The staggering amount is an increase on his earnings from last year, when the star reportedly commanded £228,000 ($298,224) per post.
Among David's 30 sponsored posts this year were adverts for wristwatches company Tudor Watch and menswear brand, Kent & Curwen.

5. Selena Gomez
American singer Selena Gomez earned £6.4million ($8million) on Instagram this year despite only posting nine sponsored pictures.
The pop star, 27, cashed in a reported £709,000 ($886,000) per post on the site where she has 164 million followers.
The singer, best known for her hit 'We Don't Talk Anymore' with Charlie Puth, has recently shared previews of her new album 'Rare' which is out on January 10.

Among her sponsored posts are a deal with sports brand Puma and luxury brand Coach which she has collaborated with on with bags and clothing.

Wada's executive committee made the unanimous decision to impose the ban on Russia in a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Monday.

It comes after Russia's Anti Doping Agency (Rusada) was declared non-compliant for manipulating laboratory data handed over to investigators in January 2019.

It had to hand over data to Wada as a condition of its controversial reinstatement in 2018 after a three-year suspension for its vast state-sponsored doping scandal.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have stung the country with a four-year ban from all major sporting events, including the 2020 Olympic Games.

Russia will be barred from competing at the 2022 World Cup, with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) hitting the nation with a four-year ban from all major sporting events.

Along with football’s showpiece tournament, which is due to head to Qatar in three years’ time, the Russian flag and anthem will also be missing from the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

A WADA panel last month recommended the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) be declared non-compliant again over inconsistencies in anti-doping data discovered during an investigation.

WADA's independent Compliance Review Committee (CRC) recommended strong sanctions be imposed on Russia, including a four-year ban from competing in and hosting major sporting events.

On Monday, the body's Executive Committee unanimously agreed with the recommendation at a meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

A statement from WADA President Sir Craig Reedie said: “The ExCo’s strong decision today shows WADA’s determination to act resolutely in the face of the Russian doping crisis, thanks to the Agency’s robust investigatory capability, the vision of the CRC, and WADA’s recently acquired ability to recommend meaningful sanctions via the Compliance Standard which entered into effect in April 2018.

"Combined, these strengths have enabled the ExCo to make the right decisions at the right time.

“For too long, Russian doping has detracted from clean sport.

"The blatant breach by the Russian authorities of RUSADA’s reinstatement conditions, approved by the ExCo in September 2018, demanded a robust response. That is exactly what has been delivered today.

"Russia was afforded every opportunity to get its house in order and re-join the global anti-doping community for the good of its athletes and of the integrity of sport, but it chose instead to continue in its stance of deception and denial.

"As a result, the WADA ExCo has responded in the strongest possible terms, while protecting the rights of Russian athletes that can prove that they were not involved and did not benefit from these fraudulent acts.

“On behalf of the ExCo, and of the many WADA stakeholders that supported the CRC recommendation, I would like to thank the members of the CRC for their expert and considered recommendation, as well as WADA I&I and the forensic experts for their skill, diligence and perseverance in getting to the bottom of this highly complex case.”

RUSADA has 21 days to appeal the suspension, which would see its case referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Individual Russian athletes will still be able to enter global competitions under a neutral flag, as was the case for 168 Russians at the 2018 Winter Olympics when the country was banned.

The International Standard for Code Compliance by Signatories does not list UEFA as a "major event organisation", so Russia will also be free to compete at Euro 2020.

Stanislav Cherchesov's side have qualified for the finals, where St Petersburg is one of the host cities.

Russia have been placed in Group B alongside Belgium, Finland and Denmark.
