A UK clubber's alcohol-fueled night of partying has left him with a £400 (NZ$770) Uber bill after he fell asleep inside the cab. After hard night out partying - and multiple alcoholic beverages - 20-year-old Joseph Fergie decided to use the ridesharing app to get himself home safely. The call centre worker got into his Uber at 5:14am for the 3km ride to his home in Leith, Scotland, which normally takes around 15 minutes Unfortunately, he fell asleep in the cab's back seat, only to be woken up at 8:30am by his Uber driver who informed Fergie that he had arrived at his chosen destination. Upon looking around, Fergie got the shock of his life. Instead of being driven home, he had been driven 180km to Kirkcudbright in Dunfries and Galloway. "I woke up still drunk and when I saw sheep kicking about the countryside - I thought the guy had taken me to Musselburgh," he told the Daily Record. Musselburgh is a town on the coast of the Firth of Forth, around 13km from Edinburgh's city centre. He sent a Snapchat of his predicament to his friends, who were quick to see the funny side.
"I ended up telling all my pals about the situation and they just burst out laughing. They couldn't believe what happened," he told the Daily Record. It took him seven hours and multiple buses and trains to finally arrive back in Edinburgh. His Uber account was charged £395.85 (NZ$771.98) for the journey. "I'm still trying to piece together what exactly happened last night and I am chatting with Uber to see if they can help in any way," Fergie added. "I've had never heard of Kirkcudbright before last night and I doubt I'll be able to ever forget it now." Newshub. Last week, MTN Group Limited, Africa’s largest mobile phone company, listed its Nigerian unit on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. MTN Nigeria is the market leader in the mobile telecom space in Africa’s most populous country, with more than 67 million customers at the end of last year, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission. With a market capitalization north of $6 billion, MTN Nigeria becomes the second largest company on the Nigerian bourse after Dangote Cement which has a current value of more than $8.3 billion. MTN chose a listing without an IPO, simply opting to list its existing shareholders’ equity. Its current stock price is N108 per share. The paperwork it filed for its public listing also reveals who the biggest individual shareholders are. Even though most of them on this list have used their MTN shares as collateral for humongous loans according to a highly placed Nigerian banking executive who confided in this reporter, these are the 6 richest shareholders of MTN Nigeria. Three little girls were found dead this week after accidentally locking themselves in a family car where they suffocated in 35C heat. The young cousins named Agatha Morales, nine, Shamel Alghela Morales, eight, and Pauline Keziah Morales, six, were playing together in Bataan province, the Philippines on May 13. Agatha’s father Jessie Morales, 31, an oil refinery worker, returned home from work at 4pm and parked the green car outside their home. Agatha’s father Jessie Morales, 31, an oil refinery worker, returned home from work at 4pm and parked the green car outside their home. But after going inside to eat, the youngsters are believed to have opened a door and climbed inside to play – before it locked behind them and they were unable to get out again. A friend of the young girls noticed them four hours later at around 8pm. They were all lifeless inside the vehicle. She ran to tell the two parents who were at home a few yards away. Jessie ran outside and found the three children inside the vehicle but they were already dead. Jessie said: ‘They were not able to breath because of the heat inside.’ The family of the victims said that they believe it was an accident and no further investigations should be conducted. They blamed a faulty lock on the car door which allowed the children to climb inside to play but prevented them from opening the door to escape. The local police are now investigating the case to find out if there was negligence on the part of the parents. Bataan Police chief Dennis Orbista said: ‘The father opened the door but the kids were not responding. He brought them to the hospital where they were pronounced dead due to suffocation. ‘To parents of children who are of the same age of the victims, always watch over the children because out of curiosity, they play with all things in the surroundings.’ Read more: https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/17/three-girls-found-dead-locking-hot-car-playing-9590065/?ico=pushly-notifcation-small&utm_source=pushly?ito=cbshare?ito=cbshare cc lalasticlala, mynd44

NIGERIAN PASSPORT RENEWAL PROCESS Hi Guys, Permit me to drop this here as I have seen many questions about this as a google map local guide. I recently renewed my passport and want to share my experience to help others who may need to do so. So what you need to do is go here https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/pages/welcome Apply for e-passport. Follow the steps and it will take you to the INNOVATE1 SERVICES website where you will fill the application form and make payment of about AU $160. After payment you will need to print the payment confirmation/slip, and application forms. A dummy appointment date will be given to you but ignore that. You will need to send the payment receipt and application form to the Nigerian Consular via email to give you an appointment. The email address is nhc.passport@gmail.com. You may be issued an unfavourable date which you can appeal if you want it faster. You will need to write them stating the reasons you need this quicker and attaching any relevant documents that might help. For my case, an initial appointment for July 23 was changed to April 24, which was more favourable. They will schedule an appointment and send you further details about what you need to do or bring along. Please do not bother about a guarantor if you are renewing your old e-passport as this must have been done for the current passport you have. You will need to travel to Canberra for the appointment. Although I heard they do some sort of visit to different states once a year but I am not sure about this and this may not be the best if you want it faster. The process at the consulate may be just 30 minutes like mine if there are no hassles or issues with your documents. Although you may not get the passport same day. Hence a major requirement is for you to come with a prepaid express envelope which they will use to post it. I received my passport about 2 weeks after the appointment date. Hope this helps. |
ukcatlover:Thanks a lot. I will do just this. |
Greetings everyone, I just want to know the best way to renew naija passport here as mine is about to expire. Do we have to just go to Canberra or is there a way to pre-apply? And what documents asides the old passport would be required. Thanks |
Hey guys, been a long time. I need your help to decode if this is legit or not. I understand this is not supposed to be here. Just asking because of the proximity and to get other views. A friend sent these documents to me, from what it seems his younger brother is supposed to go to Vanuatu for a cooking course, and they were issued this travel document. I have asked him what are there expectations from this trip but have not gotten any feedback, since it is still early hours in Nigeria. I am trying to decode how genuine this is.

u3fine:I got mine back in 2017 for 10k. I think you can only get it in Lagos or Abuja. I did mine in Lagos but didn't need to travel down from Port Harcourt. You can send your details and Scan your fingerprints and they can Process it for you. But you will need a contact person there. I have one who helped me back then . |

It should be obvious even to the uneducated that the earth is round. Everything is in a cyclic manner... Time, day and night, seasons etc... This can't happen so perfectly in a flat rectangular configuration. You would appreciate the roundness of the earth when you travel close to the poles, and experience long days with short nights and vice versa, depending on the season. Don't waste your time Mr. 'Mad', you'll only end up proving what we already know, only your pride may not allow you to admit it. |
I thought this issue between Azimo and Transferwise has been dealt with, wonder why we are still doing this comparison. Just to reiterate, Azimo is an excellent money transfer agent only when you are mainly transferring from Europe, ie GBP, EUR, NOK etc. Azimo doesn't send AUD. Except we are ok with derailing this thread with something that has nothing to do with "living in Australia". PS: I use Azimo |
Onyiridike:I believe so... Although the screen display of last night wasn't funny... |
Onyiridike:The main website dpr.gov.ng isn't. |
skibby:Ok. Thanks a lot for the correction Bro. |
tonyik:Sir, it will be better to direct your question here. https://www.nairaland.com/3053069/general-guide-australian-permanent-resident And as regards the 476, Sorry to say you are not eligible. And for others who might want to ask, the 476 Visa is an 18 months temporary work visa in all of Australia. To be eligible you MUST: 1. Be an ENGINEERING graduate NOT MORE than 2 years ago from a reputable FOREIGN university. No Nigerian University is eligible. In fact only one Tanzanian University is eligible in all of Africa. 2. Be under 31 years of age. Other requirements are English Language proficiency tests, character (police) and medical certifications. |

DaddyTheFather:Thanks a lot for this Sir... Yet another reasonable perspective... I have the CA PR plan as a backup to Aussie although I don't know if it's as stringent. |
