#8 Al Sadd Barca strolled to Club World Cup success in 2011 with 4-0 wins over Al Sadd and Santos. Although Messi outshone a young Brazilian superstar by the name of Neymar by scoring twice in the tournament decider, the Argentine was unsuccessful in finding the net against Al Sadd in the semi-finals. He did, however, set up Seydou Keita for Barca's third goal in a routine win. |
#9 Real Murcia The 2007-08 season may have been a disappointment for Barcelona, as they finished third in La Liga, an incredible 18 points behind champions Real Madrid. However, it ended with a lot of fun, as they recovered from the concession of an early goal to storm to a 5-1 lead over Real Murcia in the final game of the season. Messi again got two assists, but it was Giovani dos Santos who took the plaudits for his hat-trick. While Barca have faced Murcia several times since, Messi has not played in any of those games. |
#8 Cadiz In December 2005, Messi missed another rare chance to add another name to his long list of victims in a game against Cadiz. The Argentine got an assist as Barca won 3-1, setting up Samuel Eto'o early in the second half. Messi was injured when the two sides met later in the season in a much tighter affair but, luckily, Ronaldinho was on hand to score the winning goal as Barca went on to win the league. He has not faced them since |
#11 Udinese With just one goal to his name for the Camp Nou outfit, Messi was still far off the level that carried him to five Ballons d'Or when he lined up against Udinese in September 2005. Back then, he was just a promising youngster lucky enough to be playing in attack alongside Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o. It was the Brazilian who showed he was still the grandmaster in the Champions League encounter, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-1 win. Messi, meanwhile, was withdrawn in the 70th minute and although he scored in his next Champions League appearance, he was left out of the next two group games, one of which was the return clash with Udinese. |
#12 Gramenet Messi's third official appearance and first start for Barcelona was also his first defeat with the senior side, as Frank Rijkaard's men lost to Gramenet in the Copa del Rey. Despite the presence of Messi, Henrik Larsson and Andres Iniesta in the starting XI, the Blaugrana could not find a way through against the third-tier team and conceded the decisive goal in extra-time. It is the only time Messi has come up against his side's Catalan neighbours. |
Of all the teams the Barcelona forward has faced, he has failed to hit the net against just 12, including Tuesday's Champions League opponents A career spent as one of the world's most prolific goalscorers and perennially at the top of the game, Lionel Messi has upset a huge number of teams as a star for Barcelona. The Argentine's exploits have led the Catalan side to global success and helped keep them within the top echelons of European football. So consistent has Messi been that it is easier to name the teams he has failed to score against in his senior career since he emerged in Barca's senior side as a 17-year-old in October 2004. Of all the teams Messi has faced in the near 13 and a half years since his first appearance for the Blaugrana, he has failed to hit the net against just 12. He will get the chance to knock one of those teams off the list on Tuesday when his side visit Chelsea in the Champions League. Goal runs through the teams the Camp Nou icon has never scored against http://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-inter-and-the-teams-messi-has-never-scored-against/ch8lchl9peil1sfnp5sr4bzpa

gnykelly:Hmmm... You're quite correct |
gnykelly:Nice observation. I didn't even consider that in the first place. The world is truly going green... Although it's still a long way, but its a certainty in the nearest future.... Sadly as you have pointed out, we have no plans of any sort when that time comes... |
In a world-first, a train in northern NSW is running totally on solar power following the conversion and refurbishment of a derelict heritage train by the Byron Bay Railroad Company. With plenty of sunlight for its batteries to soak up, the company set about converting a 1940s’ railmotor with the aid of Southern Shorthaul Railroad’s Lithgow Railway Workshop. The Workshop custom-designed curved solar panels for the roof of the railmotor along with solar batteries designed to operate all systems – traction power, lighting, control circuits and air compressors. Director Tim Elderton said the technology adapted from electric buses was re-engineered to convert the railmotor. For prolonged lack of sunshine, there is a 30 kilowatt solar array on the station roof so the locomotive can be plugged in. A regenerative braking system also recovers around 25% of spent energy each time the brakes are used and the train has zero emissions. Built in 1949, the 600 class railmotor was innovatively constructed with aluminium like that for aircraft fuselage, making it lighter than the light rail of today. One of the two original diesel engines has been removed but a single Cummins 14 L NT855-R2 diesel engine, fitted in the 1970s (that reclassified the railmotor as a 660 set) remains. The engine was in use for 16 years during which time it was upgraded regularly. It is on board for weight and balance, and while it is a back-up it is not required for the train’s operation. The refurbished railmotor was out of action for 25 years while the 3km of railway line it now runs on had to be repaired by the BBRC, along with a bridge, following disuse of the Murwillumbah to Casino line for more than a decade. The railmotor can tootle along at an easy 115 km/hour, but will only run at low speed on the Byron Beach to North Beach rail line. This video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZU6Uh8fV7Q) shows the interior and exterior of the train including the driver’s cab, rail lines, route and road crossings. The train set off on its maiden run just prior to Christmas with 100 passengers on board and now offers a regular timetable. A Grandmother whose face is melting due to a rare condition is refusing surgery out of fear that an operation will lead to her death. Wiang Boonmee, 63, from Thailand, went blind in both eyes after developing abnormal growths that spread across her face, covering her eyes and twisting her nose and mouth out of shape. She developed the condition as a child and it only got worse as the years went by. Several decades later, the unsightly growths hang off her face making it looks as though her skin is melting. Wiang leads as close to a normal life as she can, despite her condition, She still works to earn a living. She recently moved from her home in rural Surin province to capital Bangkok where she scrapes together a living selling accessories on the pavement in the centre of the city. The mother-of-one's condition received attention last week when medics were contacted to request assistance for her. But Wiang has refused help despite the severity of her condition, believed to be related to neurofibromatosis. This is because she is afraid of dying on the operating table. Wiang, who also has two grandchildren, said: “I have had this problem for a long time. More than I can remember. I have survived and I’m healthy and have a job. If I have an operation I might never wake up. I’m afraid I would not survive it. My daughter brings me here so I can sell flowers and camphor oils. I am happy and somebody gave me a donation this week, which I’m grateful for.” Dr Sunura Ourairat, President of Rangsit University, visited Wiang on the street on Friday to offer to help her get medical attention. He said: 'I have asked for assistance from the Ministry of Public Health and asked for doctors to visit this grandmother. She is blind and originally from the north east region. We are welcome and ready to help with surgery but she is afraid of dying. She said thank you to everybody for trying to help. We will continue to see what can be done for her." mrvitalis:Who is the second Ikwerre senstor? Is it Ideozu, the Ekpeye man you are referring to as Ikwerre? |
Zaki500:It sure would be, though it's quite unlikely. This year's draw will be intriguing sha. Imagine A Man U/Bayern pair or R. Madrid/Dortmund/Tottenham |
There are just five places left up for grabs in the Champions League group stages after Celtic, Sevilla, Napoli, Maribor and Olympiakos all booked their spots on an eventful evening of football on Tuesday night. Liverpool will be hoping to join their four Premier League rivals – Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Tottenham – in the upcoming draw, though must first finish off Hoffenheim in the second leg of their Play-Off on Wednesday night. But the draw is at last starting to take shape, with the teams in both Pot 1 and Pot 2 now confirmed, and Premier League sides can begin working out who they are likely to face in the group stages… WHEN IS THE DRAW AND HOW CAN I WATCH IT? The draw for this year’s Champions League takes place on Thursday, August 24 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The build-up begins at 5pm, with the draw itself expected to take place half an hour later, and can be watched either on BT Sport 2 or via the live stream on Uefa.com. WHICH POTS ARE EACH TEAM IN? Pot 1 (confirmed) Real Madrid Bayern Munich Chelsea Juventus Benfica Monaco Spartak Moscow Shakhtar Donetsk Pot 2 (confirmed) Barcelona Atletico Madrid PSG Borussia Dortmund Sevilla Manchester City Porto Manchester United Pot 3 (provisional) Napoli Tottenham Basel Olympiakos Anderlecht Liverpool* Roma Besiktas Pot 4 (provisional) Celtic CSKA Moscow* Copenhagen* Sporting Lisbon* APOEL Nicosia* Feyenoord Maribor RB Leipzig *While pots one, two and three are pretty much set, Wednesday’s Play-Off results can still create huge changes in pot four. CSKA Moscow take a one-goal lead back to Russia; Copenhagen need to overturn a 1-0 scoreline when they host Qarabag; Sporting need an away goal in Romania against FCSB; Liverpool take two precious away goals back to Anfield when they host Hoffenheim; and APOEL claimed a 2-0 lead away to Slavia Prague. BEST/WORST CASE SCENARIOS Best draw Chelsea (Pot 1): Porto, Anderlecht, Maribor Man City/Man Utd (Pot 2): Spartak Moscow, Anderlecht, Maribor Spurs/Liverpool (Pot 3): Spartak Moscow, Porto, Maribor Worst draw Chelsea (Pot 1): Barcelona, Napoli, RB Leipzig Man City/Man Utd (Pot 2): Real Madrid, Napoli, RB Leipzig Spurs/Liverpool (Pot 3): Real Madrid, PSG, RB Leipzig Having won the Premier League title last season, Chelsea are seeded in the champions pot and will avoid most of Europe’s biggest teams. Nevertheless, Pot 2 is stacked with powerhouses, such as Barcelona and PSG, while even Pot 4 boasts the champions of Scotland and the Netherlands, as well as the runners-up from the Bundesliga. There could be several groups of death this time around. WHEN WILL THE MATCHES TAKE PLACE? Each team will play their group opponents twice, home and away, over six gameweeks. The group stage begins at the start of September and runs until the start of December, with matches played on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Champions League group stage dates 12-13 September 26-27 September 17-18 October 31 October-1 November 21-22 November 5-6 December http://metro.co.uk/2017/08/22/who-can-manchester-united-chelsea-tottenham-and-man-city-draw-in-the-champions-league-group-stages-6871090/amp/ Lalasticlala mynd44 seun mukina2
