Let's step back and ask how you define, "The Best Nigerian Websites You Have Seen". Is it based on:

1) Functionality?
2) Design?
4) Download Time?
5) User Experience?
6) Code Structure?
7) All of the above?

When we answer these (and perhaps more), then we can have a better discussion.

and like kheme said, the above sites look crappy even looking at the source code, Nigerian developers can do far better - there is work to be done, we should keep improving - global standards people, this is the web.

i like using the white guys as an example, you see they have what we called CONTENT DEVELOPERS these guys develop the content for the webby if the client don't have one. and what the client gives out is just a brief on the company. i think we should start charging for content development if we will have to do this job for them.
Most of this guys feel webby is just what you learn by the roadside, it's really weird if people thinks that's how it is, because there is more to web than just designing.

truth! when discussing a project with a client its very important to bring up the issue of content dev first else you will run into trouble as most clients believe its your sole responsibility to come up with content, and traffic. in my experience its best to bill the client for the content work if he wont supply it, if you are not good with content dev (which shouldn't be ur job anyway) you can outsource that to a good writer/research person - a good undergrad will do this for you. Designers/developers should also start working like the ad agencies: 1. document everything, 2. break the project into stages - content, programming, design, integration, analytics, SEO, maintenance, etc, 3. bill each seperately, 4. develop and use a client questioniare (this should help the client focus and think about the goal of the site), 5. lastly every project should have a timeline, which is subject to the clients response to all the above.

i take time to ask my client about the goal of the project, if they don't have any i help develop one. this would keep both parties in check

bye bye IE, but, getting it off the millions of Pcs worldwide is a big poser, especially the fact that most Cafes in nigeria still use it. so u just have to bother about it else the site is useless to the client. once i built a site and was happy with it, but when i went to a cafe to test and see what client actually see - different resolution, different browser etc. I was shocked, really felt like closing the cafe for not upgrading the software. anyway the real deal is someone should write a virus to remove IE from all PCs worldwide.

I once saw at the footer of a website "best viewed with firefox, please stop using IE", I and a friend laughed to tears. lets see how IE handles html5, am sure we would have more laughs

anyone tried combining C4d with AE, really thats when your work comes alive, you should look in that direction - movie or promo sequencing

nice work, but try making some ad designs for real life products, that will help improve your design communication skill. keep up the good work

if you are just looking for a magic tool to do all the work, sorry there is non. don't depend on the software, learn the basics of web design then any application platform will be a tool in your hands.

with these few points i hope i have convinced you that, aptana is great for you, but first learn the basics

i use orbit downloader, its a freeware and its fast. you can do a search on google for : orbit download manager portable , to get a portable version so u can carry around in you flash drive.

for your other issue with writeon, i really don't understand your question: do you want to make it appear bigger at time intervals, if yes use your camera. if you mean making it grow multiple vines at the same time, then arrange your small vines in sequence to simulate the effect. ho[e that helps.

hey, [ sanctisam ] was once in your position, but this is what i did: get a good download manager (a portable one would be better), and go ahead to download the tuts, if you want to learn you would patiently wait and practice with every one you get. it wont be fun but trust me it will help for now till you find reliable internet conn
