Please help my friend suggest very good flimsy escuses to dump her hardcore stingy but very good boyfriend.

He's very good on all other aspects but his stinginess is beyond human comprehension and my friend don't want to appear as been materialistic.

The last straw that broke the camel's back was when she demanded if he could get her pads and some few stuff on his way to her place and when he eventually bought and brought the items to her, he calculated everything he bought and was waiting to be paid which she eventually did and imagine he got the nerves to collect the money from my friend (Just some few thousands), he's very rich so brokenness is out of it.

We've exhausted all the escuses we thought would work out to dump him but he somehow have ways around them (very annoying) and my friend wants to be diplomatic. Please your suggestions are highly welcomed. Thanks

This story isn't complete. What was the deal? Could it be that your friend (which we assume is you) is a spendthrift and the guy isn't one who is a fan of unnecessary expenses?

You said he's doing well financially so money is not the problem, why do I sense entitlement here?

The money is just some" few thousands" abi why is she so pained if money isn't an issue for her?

Many thanks. I do not plan to go to SA at least not anytime soon. My major concern is how to explain this to the country I’m planning on applying for residency. I want to come clean but I don’t know how to explain it. Do I say I was asked to pay a fine but I did not pay it and when one fails to pay the fine, you automatically get a five years ban? Or I was told to either pay a fine or face a 5years ban which I chose to go with the ban? Which is the right way to put it?

Honesty remains the best policy.

I know several people would encourage you to lie in your application and that's misrepresentation with severe penalty if you are caught.

The way the question is asked will determine respond.

Even if it was 10 years ago you would still be paying... remember they have your full details and they have recorded it on their system. The only way you can escape these fine if your details has changed.
Where the fine can be paying? You can only be paying the fine at the any point of entry in south Africa.

The fine option doesn't exist again.
The ban for over staying is now five years and since that infraction occurred in 2013 (9 years ago), he should be able to apply again

If you are on visitor's visa, please ensure you buy a return flight ticket to avoid Immigration wahala. Moreover, why would you contemplate one way if you only intend to spend 30 days?

Same question I asked myself.
Some categories of visas are exempt from return ticket and visitors visa isn't one of them

A 100K monthly salary earner in Nigeria is better than a 400K monthly salary earner in the United States.

The luxury lifestyles some of us live here with 100K, cannot sustain us a day over there. We can’t try such in US and save a dim.

Some of our annual rent here is weekly/ monthly rent over there. Can you pay over 100K naira monthly house rent with 400K monthly salary here in Nigeria? You can’t do that, but you don’t have a choice over there. You pay or kicked out of the house.

Some of our people over there are becoming wiser now. They don’t mind sleeping on the streets, work for at least 5-10yrs, move back to Nigeria with their savings. You cannot survive with 100M living comfortably a year over there. Tax go finish you up. But you can live large with 100M for 5yrs or more here in Nigeria depends on your lifestyles tho.

You don’t pay unnecessary tax here. But in foreign countries you pay almost everything.
In naija you can own 10 cars..not in the United States because you pay for packing space for each car. You get the point now?

Some of our people in diaspora, once they earn $10K in a month or so, depends on the job, they’d send $9K down to their Nigeria account and keep $1K for their upkeep. Some would buy lands and build houses for rent or some other businesses.
If you don’t do that, you’d work all your life and come back with nothing. Those of you on this method are wise. But becareful of the people you send your money to here. Trust no one! Get a trustworthy lawyer involved.

U can make unnecessary noise or play loud music here. You can’t try such over there and not find yourself in police cell.

So you see….We are privileged here. We only need to get bad political leaders off the way. By getting involved in politics, national, state, LGA and community affairs. That’s how American youth you admire, do.

They don’t just fold hands, wailing and waiting for a miracle. They debate, disagree, challenge, involved and create. You get the point now?
