eluquenson: They have few officers working midnight, hence no much hassles. My experience was cool with them. It is well known that human being are naturally weak at night, hence no much delay.
During day time, SA immigration go to the extent of calling hotel to confirm reservations made. Very true. Landing in the early hours is very straight forward. It's a different ball game during the day. 2am arrivals are usually the best. Airport is very scanty at that time. |

andrew444: Sorry to disturb you bro
How much did you get your flight to South Africa via South Africa airways ? And is it one way or 2 ways ticket that's required for a visitor visa ? Lol, you need a return ticket. Showing up at PoE with a one way ticket on a visitors visa (if you get that far) you will be placed on the next flight to Lagos. |

Please I will like to know my chances of securing full funding for PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with the following profile
BEng( Elect/Elect Engineering): 4.16/5.0
MEng( Power and Machines): 4.09/5.0 (Coursework)
I'm yet to do my Thesis but I'll like to know my chances of gaining admission for PhD and also getting funding.
I'm looking at WITS and UCT. Please I'll like to know my chances of getting funding in these schools. South African universities are not exactly generous when it comes to funding. You should look at Canada and USA. |

Bolowolowo: I'm not based in Naija right now, but SA is not pretty for Nigerians. You are welcome to make your own decisions. Rephrase. SA is not good for those who are into illegal stuff. Stop generalising. Most of the people who are reported killed or whatever are into one shady stuff or the other. Their profile says alot. Have you ever heard that a Nigerian professional was killed? No. It's all those people who have no clearly defined job. |

paulcr7: Good afternoon house. I am new. I am trying to process admission to do a masters in a South Africa University. Please what are the requirements for a study visa? What is the cost of an airplane ticket? For someone who wants to do masters, you should have at least a little drive to do some research. Go to Google, type all your queries there and you will get responses. If you have done this and aren't still clear, you can ask questions here and hopefully someone will attend to it. All the best |

paramajit: Please I intend traveling to RSA any moment from now. I heard people are been return back from POE due to not holding enough BTA....Please , hope I won’t have problem with $700 as my BTA for one week stay...I already sort the hotel... The thing about BTA is that each airline has a minimum amount they may request for before check in so just confirm with the airline. Its advisable to have some reasonable amount of money that at least shows that you have funds to sustain your self. If you are a first time traveller, those criminals at immigration/custom may tell you that it's not enough. Eyeball them and tell them you have the amount as recommended by the airline. All the best |

drered: Hi Guys,
Big ups to everyone doing good here.
So i have an issue that keeps me up at night (well... sometimes)
I've been to SA twice and the last time i went over my visa got stamped for 7 days instead of the 15 days visa i was given. Apparently the immigration officer looked at my first visa that was valid for 7 days and stamped my duration of stay for the same making it look like i overstayed for 8 days. I didnt notice until 3 days before departure. Got a letter from the office at SA stating that it was an error on their (immigration) part and asking that i should be granted assistance in anyway possible.
Well. When i got to the airport the immigration officer decided to put the blame on me saying i should have come earlier. She showed me the prompt on her computer that said i had overstayed and verbally said i'll never be allowed entry into South Africa anymore. i'll need to travel to South Africa again in 2 months for work related stuff and i'm super concerned about this issue. I've been to the embassy and i wasnt granted entry to talk to any official which is just sad considering issues like this should be expected to happen and a system should be in place to fix them.
My question now is has anyone had a similar experience or know the best way to go around this? Actually, once your passport is stamped it's your responsibility to look the validity of your visa and raise any concerns immediately. Try writing to home affairs directly and see what comes out of it cos legally speaking you over stayed. The immigration officer has the discretion to stamp you in for the number of days they deem fit. |
