homody: I just need to write this, if you will be coming to SA you must paid for your hotel at my own I did a reservation via Airbnb and the owner of the property agreed I make payment on arrival but on getting to airport the airline mandated me to pay for my hotel before i leave Nigeria for my own good, though someone help out with that at the airport I paid $120 for an hotel, I'm glad I did the booking I would have been send back at Johannesburg poe cos they called the hotel to verified the payment. Something that we are always keen to stress here. |

Anikkybd: Please I will be travelling ending to South africa ,like how much can I hold along cos I was told they would ask me how much am I taking, and also am spending 13 days there, thou I only book hotel for 2 days cos I have a friend I will stay with ,want to know if there might be issues not booking for the 13days.. expecting reply from experience people.. Thanks to you all It's best your friend writes a signed letter stating that he/she would accommodate you for the period of your stay (stating the duration) and would ensure that you leave the Republic at the end of your authorized stay. He/she should also include a phone number, a certified copy of his data page and permit (for non South Africans) or ID for SA citizens and Permanent Residents. The reason for this letter is to prove to the PoE officials that you have somewhere to stay. If you present only two days hotel booking for a 13 day stay, it raises serious questions on your credibility as a genuine visitor. |

TMKsouth: Gautrain is far less. I calculated around R200 from OR Tambo airport to Pretoria Central. Thats minus additional R27 for train card which u will use on return leg. Gautrain bus rides might also set u back less than R50, if you further need to use the bus.
Calculate your route: (take note of Peak/Off Peak times) https://www.gautrain.co.za/commuter/farecalc Yeap. Gautrain is way better. |
Travel › Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Geenosko: 2:43pm On Jan 19, 2019 |
TMKsouth: Best option for first timer travelling alone is to take the Gautrain coz Jo'burg to various Pretoria suburbs can be tricky by road, although there's UBER and cabs at the airport There's a turf war between these two though which has resulted in attacks in previous years. So the train is your safest and fastest option.
Firstly, where in Pretoria will you be staying? Gautrain stations in Pretoria are Centurion, Hatfield and Pretoria Central. If the person can afford to pay R500+ for Uber to Pretoria no biggie else Gautrain would be the best bet.

Anikkybd: i did non apperance visa for south africa, but the visa was issued in ghana by my agent, thou he did ghana work permit on my passport, any challenges i might face at POE......SOMEONE REPLY ME Just so you know the PoE guys at OR Thambo are very good at spotting fake visas and work permits. Even if you escape the ones at Lagos, you can’t escape the ones in Jo'Burg. (They already know its fake the moment you book your ticket) So my advice to you is to confirm from the South African and Ghanaian high commissions respectively if those things on your passport are genuine. Ordinarily you shouldn't have anything to be afraid but this one you are asking about potential issues at PoE... |

I think prospective applicants need to have a better understanding of how CSV works. There's always a fine print.
However if you think your case is strong, there's room to appeal. |

Sometimes you have to spend money to make money. It's very affordable and if you are interested, you can get him to do yours as well. I can't send a sample of my CV to anyone as this is a faceless forum. So please don't be offended! The Lord can touch you to sponsor for some one |

Yes but they said the skills he has, South Africans already have in abundance So he should probably look at the deep end of IT where the skills are really scarce. For instance security... At some point this year, RSA may remove say occupations from the CSV list. |

TOPEADE1: So what you mean is that anyone going for Msc or PhD does not need to submit WAEC? because the info from friends is that I must submit WAEC scratch card with my other application document to SAQA.
I will like to know if there skools in SA that will not request for SAQA on application for Msc research. Just get the evaluation done because even if the school doesn't demand for it, you would need it for study permit application and it makes your application more genuine. |

I have been staying in South Africa for over 8 years so I don’t have a bank statement. And people are saying a lot of things about statement of account nowadays. Please advise as I need to go back to renew my residence permit. Curious though which permit do you have to come back to naija to renew? Use your SA bank statement (signed at the bank) |

2fine2fast: Hello senior fellas. Compliments of the season guys. I applied for the South African police clearance in November as a requirement to renew my student visa that will expire in January. 7 weeks after I have still not gotten the clearance and I already have my return ticket booked for 11 January,2019. Please I need your kind advice as I have every other document ready for visa renewal but the SAPS clearance. A friend told me of someone that renews with just Nigerian police clearance but I don’t want to believe him blindly. Thanks. You could actually have done your SAPS clearance at any vfs office in SA before returning ( I guess you are in naija) Yes you need the SAPS clearance (very important) Last last, you just have to wait |

Summary.
If SAA is not your thing, Rwanda air and Ethiopia air give very affordable prices just plan your journey.
Travelling to Ghana for the sole purpose of catching a "cheap flight" to SA isn't worth the stress unless of course you are doing it for the thrill.
And let me correct the impression that having plenty stamps on your passport reduces the probability of officials disturbing you at the airport. That's not necessarily the case. Even frequent travellers have to deal with them often. Just ensure that you know your rights and stick to it. |

Rwanda air and Ethiopian air give better service and they are quite cheap too. And take a chill. You’ve not even been to SA b4. Wait till u get there b4 giving pple hyped information.
@homody, you can get a return trip on Rwandair for about N150k from Lagos to Johannesburg. Even by January ending. Check flights on travel start. Dude said he's based in Ghana. Hence he's travelling from Ghana and not Nigeria |

iamkingrobert: Good day guys, please if you’ve already paid for your accommodation and have your return ticket will $300 cash be enough to for a 10days trip?
And I’ll like to know if they will ask to see how Much BTA you have at the airport in Johannesburg They don't ask for bta at OR thambo but those beggars in uniform at mmia may tell you that's it not enough, so you will have to stand your ground. If you are a minimalist spender $300 may be enough for you by whiskers but if you have access to other funds, you are good to go. The major issue are those uniformed rogues at mmia |
