PRXPERT:Did you notice I put techically in quotes (" " ? |
chriskosherbal:Why is the government so quiet on this menace |
businessMODE:Indeed curious. When did fulani herdsmen start moving about in cars and such large number with the amount of fire power? |
babasolution:Our speculations may just be the truth in the end. We need this investigated |
Lalasticlala what's your take on this issue. Could it be a transition? |
It is curious that there is a sudden upward spike in the cases of Fulani herdsmen kidnapping and ransacking communities all over the country leaving death and destruction in their wake. For those that don't forget history, it would be easy to recollect how boko haram started. They started with kidnapping and robberies to fund their group. Again I ask, is it not curious that Fulani Herdsmen all of a sudden find kidnapping and taking of ransom as a past-time activity? If you are old enough, you would know kidnapping and demanding for ransom is alien to the Fulani Herdsmen tradition. Yes, you could have clashes with them, BUT they don't go out of their way to kidnap people. Last year the shocking news of the political sage Olu Falae graced the front pages of our papers and many found it queer that Fulani herdsmen would go into a private property, recognize a political figure and kidnap him for ransom. This rise in this abnormality can be directly linked to the "technical" defeat of boko haram and their inability to hold territory. Could it be that they are now dispersed as herdsmen in disguise? Are they trying to use funds from kidnapping to fund their insurgency? Since when did fulani herdsmen start possessing sophisticated fire arms as we see in recent seizures made by our gallant military? It is indeed a curious case. I urge our government not to treat this transition with kid gloves. It is high time grazing of cattle is restructured and herdsmen registered and given limits. |
Nice one. Some silly girls and guys would think otherwise, but this is just the hard cold truth. Your mum would sacrifice much more than ANY girl can ever do for you. |
I already have several threads on this topic so won't talk much here. www.nairaland.com/1953773/solar-power-boreholes-jobs-full You can check these threads for details www.nairaland.com/2905849/solar-setup-see-pix-n700konly www.nairaland.com/2522526/beware-5-reasons-may-regret www.nairaland.com/2198094/plain-truth-solar-power-shocking |
darocha1:Absolutely sir. There are just so many ways we get poisoned in today's society. |
jonathanOz:Not all of them sell fake products but it is better to be safe. Kidney failure is not a joke. Lalasticlala/ dominique what do you think abt putting this on fp? Thank you |
It is no news that our market place is riddled with fake products. One that could be particularly dangerous is consumption of fake drinks. This has lead to food poisoning, accumulation of toxins and cancernogenic agents in the body or even immediate death as in the recent cases of deaths from consumption of fake gins in Ondo and Calaba. Before you buy that soft drink or alcoholic drink, watch out for the following: 1. Where you buy from As much as possible DON'T EVER buy drinks from hawkers. YES, if you value your health and life, please quite patronizing those boys and girls selling drinks in hold ups and on the highway. Why? They sell counterfeits because the profit is very high. They don't give a damn about your well being all they want is money and they are even ready to cheat you at the slightest opportunity. They use the hasty situation as a perfect cover to sell fake goods and they know they can easily run off in case anyone discovers the drink or product bought is fake. Beware! It is better you prepare before setting out on a journey. Buy your drinks from trusted supermarkets and retail shops. Watch out for visible telltale signs -faded labels. Look at the bottle cap are the writings on it faded? It could be fake. Probable the counterfeiter used already used bottles. -Wrong spellings -the design does not look original. - colors on labels are not bright and high quality. 3. It tastes odd, throw it Away! If the drink tastes different from what you are used to, please don't continue drinking it because you don't wanna waste your money. Drain the bottle and dispose immediately!. 4. Can is better than pet bottle oh yes! If you must buy drinks in traffic or from environments you don't really trust, go for the Can drinks and not Pet bottles (plastic bottles). Counterfeiters produced products that are easy and cheap to produce. It is expensive to make aluminium cans that are flawless and very hard to reuse the opened ones unlike the pet bottles. So just go for the canned drinks in such situations. 5. Report any case of fake drinks anywhere you find them. let's make the society a better place. Compiled |

EnigmaticEnigma:They are both clueless and greedy. |
PUSIDRILA:My brother you no lie jare. They know what they are doing. But solving our problem is not rocket science. In fact a single power company can supply the whole if nigeria. How can we be generating 4,800mw maximum? As big as we are |
Standing5:One of the problems I decided to be silent on. Prepaid meter is the only way to achieve true privatization. And our politicians buying chunks of our power sector that is another issue I will pretend not to know. We are just not sincere with anything in this country. |
Lol
Men can be funny. Glad he did not get away unhurt |
Today we awake to the news that our power generation has dropped to 1580MW. Just last week we were celebrating it's rise to 4800MW. Do you know Nigeria has spent 2.7 Trillion Naira in the last 15 years on power? So What is the problem? We are going about solving our power generation problem the wrong way. Gas powered electricity generation stations IS NOT THE FUTURE of electricity generation! There must be constant supply of gas for these stations to function. They are serious contributors to global warming (everyone is complaining about the hot weather now) this is the hottest period in recorded history. SECTORS OF ELECTRICITY GENERATION and SUPPLY There are 3 major sectors -GENERATION -TRANSMISSION -DISTRIBUTION We are not doing well in any of these 3 but our major problems are with GENERATION and DISTRIBUTION SOLUTION TO POWER GENERATION 1. utilize our renewable sources of energy The UK completed a solar energy farm that would generate 48MW of electricity last year (2015) . Nigeria has more sunshine than the UK because we are a tropical country close to the earth's equator. We have open savanna lands up north that are perfect for such a project as this. What would it cost? Solar energy would cost between $2 million dollars to $4M dollars to generate 1 Mega Watt of electricity Policies should be made to encourage individuals to sell electricity to the distribution companies. It gets better. Wind energy is even cheaper and uses lesser space. Nigeria has a shoreline of 853KM. Wind current remains strong over 1km inland (that is very conservative). So we have about 853Km sq of land. We can't use all thes land as there has to be beaches and other real estates on our shore line but let's assume we can dedicate just 20% of our shoreline to power generation. I takes 60m sq to generate 1MW of electricity from wind energy 20% of our shoreline is 170600M sq of land We can generate about 3000Mw from just 20% of our shorelines using wind energy. No, fuel, no gas shortage, Free energy fro wind that blows everyday our shoreline + open country up north has the potential of generating All the electricity we ever need Texas alone would is generating 5,000Mw of electricity just from wind and solar. This is more than what we are generating with all our hydro power dams and gas turbine stations combined! It costs about $1.4million to generate 1Mw of wind energy. It would cost nigeria $7billion to generate additional 5,000 mega watts. Looks much, but it is not. The telecoms companies we have in nigeria worth far more than this. MTN alone worths over $20billion. A single investor can invest into this and generate an additional 5,000 mw of electricity. Imagine having just 2 companies investing then our capacity can reach 10,000MW +4,800MW (14,800Mw) under 2 years! Why are we behind in renewable energy? 1. Investors only invest where they know they would make profit. We have the market. So that is not a problem. 2. Government should partner with these companies, meet with our billionaires we can also influence partnership with these power companies. 3. State governments should stop waiting for the federal government. State governors should begin to see Revenue potentials through taxes they earn from power companies that operate in them. 4. Policies should be made to encourage individuals who wish to generate renewable energy. In the US you can get 30% of cthe cost paid by the government. And electricity credits are also given for electricity you generate as an individual and contribute to the main grid. The United Kingdom has over 700,000 homes generating 15% of its total power. DISTRIBUTION In layman's terms, the problem with distribution is primarily not having enough transformers. You have transformers that are over loaded. You have some areas that don't even have transformers. These should be one of the responsibilities of the local government councils. Get electicity to your people! Get the infrastructure ready and private investors would come in. ABOVE ALL: we need leadership that is sincere and committed to solving this problem without any selfish interest. There are power companies willing to invest in countries like Nigeria were the market is present and supply is inadequate. We can generate more than enough if we make it conducive for investors to invest I power. 2.7 Trillion Naira and all we can boast of |

Looking forward to working with plantation owners, livestock farmers and fish farmers in use of solar power in water pumping and supply. You can read more here. www.nairaland.com/1953773/solar-power-boreholes-jobs-full and ask questions. Thanks |
naijagobetter:You can't dissociate the military from Nigeria's problems. You are very right sir, started with them |
sambisamana:Do you have any country in mind? I just told you all countries more populous generate much more than nigeria. I mean far much more. Why focus on Africa? |
babyfaceafrica:The data for each country is on wikipedia and Cia world fact book |
babyfaceafrica:No single link, each country has about 2 links, the anti spam bot would ban me if I post all the links |
lots of "OKs" mynd1 and cosby, well done o. sambisamana:NOTE: all countries that are more populated than Nigeria Generate far more than Nigeria. There is No country with over a 150million people that generates less than 20,000Mw |
Nigeria The acclaimed giant of Africa with population of over 150million people. Has spent over 150billion dollars so far in the power sector and all we can show for it is a power generation that swings between 25,000Gwh and 34,000Gwh (2800Mw and 4000Mw) That is about 18W-26W not even enough to charge a laptop only good enough for a single energy saving bulb per person if shared equally amongst the 150million populace. With a GDP of over $573,999,000,000 How do we compare to other developing countries that generate much less than Nigeria? Uzbekistan Greece Romania Thailand VenezuelaCountry Infos available on CIA world fact book and wikipedia |
frank317:Hardmirror has said it all with his first post here indeed. This is like trying to explain Logic to a baby. The girl is having fun obviously, she is not the type you engage in intelligent discuss. Please just let her be. Speechless I am not interested in anything you have to say so don't bother quoting me. I know what you are enjoying is the attention you are getting and the opportunity to feel like a winner. Being a christain does not mean being foolish. Belief in God is personal, you can't prove God this way. Without FAITH, there is no Christianity. I believe in God anyway. But this is the most ridiculous attempt at trying to convince atheists of anything. I hope you grow someday, only then can you laugh at yourself. For now it is pointless explaining anything to you, you just decan't understand |
KingEbukasBlog:Did the christians withness creation to be able to ascertain that Panku or Orunmila did not do it? |

cloudgoddess:To say some people here are dumb is an understatement. Just imagine here reasoning |
Pidggin:Hehehehehe. What a way to reason. You just prove my point |
Favolly:Christianity is a religion. All religions are ways of life. You saying christianity is a way of life is right, just like Hinduism is a way of life too. |
