BraniacX: For the sake of those who never read the book and never heard of the nights king let's pretend the term "nights king" refers to the first white walker as the show implies! yeah I understand. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 4:05pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
Nicolars: Lolz oga oo,,,, u'r so much into the book In the movie, the nightsking is different from the WW and also different from wights
The nightsking is one of those that sit on the horse but doesn't have hairs while the WW have hairs, the wights are those dead creatures
I'll try and post pictures later OK, I get it now. In the show the night king is the same as the leader of the WW while in the books , they are different. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:58pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
Gbola5: The Night's King in the books was no Other. He was a Lord Commander shortly after the wall was built. The 13th, who fell in love with an Other and gave her his soul. The producers just loved that name, "Night's King", and chose it for the leader of their White Walkers. There is no contra. Did they even call the leader of the WW the nights king? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:41pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
Nicolars: You guys r mixing it up The book and the movie r a bit different
In the movie, the nightsking was created by the children of the forest to help them fight against the first men
Then after, the WW turned against everyone and wanted to kill everybody
The 1st men fought against them defeated them then built the wall and created the nightwatch to prevent future invasion by the WW
So I dnt c hw the nightsking was the 13th commander of the nightswatch Bro you're the one mixing it up. The nights king was not created by the children of the forest. The children of the forest created the first WW not the nights king. They are two different persons in the books. The show is yet to introduce the nights kings in its plot. |

djlaqua91: You stated that the NW couldn't have existed before the WW. And I never said anything about the Night king being a man or WW. I only wrote about the NK being a former lord commander of the NW. I've kept repeating that's the books angle. And were exactly is the the contradiction? |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:28pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
djlaqua91: Yeah, you're contradicting what you said. He used to be a lord commander. But only the books are following that angle. And I said its a legend. Legends may be true or false. How am I contradicting myself. The nights king was never WW. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:16pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
djlaqua91: Then the book contradicts itself. Because legend has it that the Night King was a former Lord commander of the NW. Although the show doesn't always follow the Books. The nights king was a man. Who was said to be making sacrifices to the white walkers. He wasn't a WW. He was the 13th Lord Commander of the night watch. |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:06pm On Jun 04, 2016 |
djlaqua91: Gilly meant that if she were a girl Craster will spare her life. He only offered his sons to the WW. As for the Nights Watch, they existed even before the WW according to the books. NightFort was their base, castle black wasn't even built then. But after the defeat of the WW, the wall was erected. They couldn't have existed before the WW. The nights watch are meant to man the walls. Protect the realm against any intruder trying to cross the wall. And it's only after the WW were pushes back that the wall was created. |

kay9: Dude, get your facts right; if you are not sure, say so and others can help you check - or better still don't even say it all. Arguing for arguments sake is just bad manners, please.
1. Gendry was smuggled out of prison, set on a boat, and set free by Ser Davos in the last episode of Season 3 (Mhysa). Unless you have watched an special episode somewhere where he was confirmed dead....
2. In Westoros, ONLY Royalty can legitimize a bastard/baseborn, emphasis on legitimize. The father/parent (who MUST be high-born by the way i.e of noble-birth) MAY make the request to the King/Queen, but the King/Queen can choose to refuse (OR legitimize someone else entirely if the Lord is dead and didn't establish who succeeds him). However, whatever the case, it only becomes recognized AFTER the King/Queen puts a seal to it.
- The Crown (King Tommen) legitimized Ramsay Snow after he delivered Moat Cailin (although I'm still not sure if his father Roose Bolton made the request or not).
- Case 2: King Stannis offering to legitimize Jon Snow when it seemed all the male Starks where dead (Note that there was STILL a female Stark - Sansa). Lol, you're right. Happy now? |

newguy1: we saw dat his dad didn't see dat all he saw was a son he sent out to kill some wildlings came back with one n a bastard Guy no excuses. The old man simply saw what he wanted to see. His character is more like tywin lannister who rejected a son who actually knows how to solve problems for a son and daughter who only created problems. If only cercei used half her time trying to love Robert she probably would have bore him a true heir. Now tyrion is on the other side of the country using is skill to bring glory to a name that the lannister family betrayed. The so called son that he prefers, we will see how many wars he can win with his sword and how many Sam can win with his brain. |

gj22: This is not true. It might be the most pirated but they are def still making a lot. I didn't say they aren't making a lot of money. Thy are in fact making a lot of money but if they continue spending more money making all those CGI do you think it will increase their profits or it will reduce it? Google a little about CGI and how it has affected GOT then you will see. The producers can't wake up one morning and announce to the world that these things are expensive if it ain't eating deep into their pockets. |

Gbola5: He's not laying a claim. Just stating possible heirs. and am telling you it's impossible for him to be king Roberts heir. He is a bastard and every one who could have willed him the rights of an heir are dead( namely Stannis and Renly) |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 3:47pm On May 31, 2016 |
Gbola5: Gendry isnt dead. Still, he can't lay any claim to the iron throne |
TV/Movies › Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by Geist(m): 1:25pm On May 31, 2016 |
Gbola5: There's Gendry, he could be legitimised. There's actually more, but thats in the books. Robert had some 16 bastards or so. And if Tommen should die, then the throne will go to Margaery, she'll be the last king's widow, and a Baratheon by marriage. Then Cersei comes after her. Simply speaking if a new dynasty is one the throne, you cannot go back to the old one except by force. Gendry is dead and the only way a bastard can be legitimized is if the father does that or if another legitimate heir wills his rights to the bastard. The way it is now, non of that can happen with any of Roberts bastards. |

UjSizzle: We all seem to vw forgetting the prophesy: To go forward you must go back.
Dany was always meant to conquer the Dothrakis and get her army. which prophecy are you talking about. Daenerys only needs an army to take back the seven kingdoms and already got the unsullied and the second sons. The master's in astapor and yunkai already offered her ships to sail to westrous. The way I see it, she had no reason to stay in mereen. |

All his dad want his a son like his younger broda a son that they write stories about not the one that read about the stories of others. does Sam look soft? Didn't look soft when he attacked the white walker. Physical strength isn't all the strength there is. He is about to go learn how to use his true strength to fight in the citadel. |

Also I think daenerys scenes has been boring since she decided to stay and rule in mereen. Considering the fact that GRRM originally planned the novel to be a trilogy, one can easily guess that it was the Starks, Stannis and lannisters character that caused the extension. They have been the major players since daenerys decided to stay in mereen. All those sons of hapy bull shit was just to keep her in the story. She didn't even need the dothraki army and she never planned to conquer the dothrakis sef. Drogon just accidentally flew her across the sea which paved way for her capture and the rest is history. |

Nicolars: His plan aint bad except d part dat he'll give his cork to dany
About killing the king No1 really liked him, so they weren't bothered Giving her his cork his a big part of his plan. I don't think the ironborn or euron himself would be happy building ships for dany if they didn't think somehow there king would be calling the one calling the shots. Eurons plan is plain dumb most especially if you consider the way Danny dealt with the dothraki drogos. |

Ubenedictus: how would you describe the various parallels that one can find between mary and d old ark, d old ark contained stone tablets of d law, mary carried the very word of God, the law giver, the fulfilment and end of the law, d ark was overshadowed by the presence of God so was mary....etc Also damning is Elizabet's reactions to Mary's visitation. Seems to me like she borrowed a leaf from David's reactions to the ark of the old covenant in 2samuel 6:9 and she did this under the influence of the Holy Spirit |
Christianity Etc › Re: The Nature/character Of Temptation. by Geist(m): 4:30pm On May 29, 2016 |
PastorAIO: … Or one can perch delicately on the precipice, merely contemplating the thought and enjoying the contemplation. Fantasising can be so sweet.
In fact most pleasures and pains in life are rooted in conceits. We live in fear of things that haven't happened and possibly will never happen and we delight in things that haven't happened and also will possibly never happen. This fact has many economic implications.
Hope itself is a commodity. We can put a price on hope and buy and sell it. We can do this for pretty much any of our conceits because we experience them as if they were real. Very true, but at times when one compares the effects of these thoughts and contemplations on the human body(or should I say the human psychology) with the action itself the differences greys out or becomes insignificant. Probably that was what Mathew was trying to point out. |
