I Am Nnamdi Kanu, - Letter From Nnamdi Kanu to Biafrans, Africa, and the WorldGreat Biafrans, Wonderful friends of Biafra and Lovers of Freedom across the GlobeI am Nnamdi Kanu; I am the Voice of the Voiceless People of Biafra,Africa and the world at large. I am a representative of truth and Honesty, I am an epitome of Kindness and LOVE, I am a paragon of Liberty, I was born a libertarian an activist and Orator,I am Nnamdi Kanu, Radio Biafra is the like a Child of my Brain, which through I have succeeded airing my gospel of redemption to the world, I am Brave and never afraid to unveil the truth even before my enemies. I am Nnamdi Kanu, I am whiter than white and whiter than snow, and my mantra is (Eziokwu Bu Ndu) which means"Truth is life" in the Igbo language. I am Nnamdi Kanu; I was born toliberate my people the (Biafrans) from this shackle of Darkness man made contraption that has enslaved them since 1914.When the evil British slave masters led by (Dmitri John Fredrick Lugard) and his girlfriend (Flora Shaw) ruthlessly amalgamated the children of GOD (Biafrans), the (Ariwa’s) Hausa/Fulani and (Oduduwa’s) Yoruba people. They put us together without any consultation or agreement between us: they knew that we were never one people, and we shared no common value system as a people. That is why he Lugard said that the NORTH and SOUTH are like an (OIL and WATER) which can never mix. The girl friend of Lugard who later became his wife named you Niger-Area (Nigeria) which literally means (Niger-A place of Darkness, in Latin language)and (Area-the location).are you surprise about this fact why darkness has engulfed Nigeria since independence even with the enormous natural gas and goal that can generate power for the entire African continent deposited in Enugwu.I am Nnamdi Kanu; I am now a prisoner of conscience under the Muhammadu Buhari’s Government because I am a Biafran. My right has been violated and abused with impunity. Because I am asking for my freedom from Britain and Hausa/FulaniI am Nnamdi Kanu, I want to use this media to speak to every Biafran at heart; I want to put it categorically straight to every Man and Woman from the “Old East Central States” (Biafra) which the Nigerian government decisively divided and called South/East and South/South today. I want to speak to those that still believe in the so-called “Igbo nation”, those that believe in “Ijaw Nation”,”Ogoni Nation” etc., I want you all to know that anything or names you claim as a nation under Nigerian government will fail you all, our name is (Biafra) our map can be found in the world map of 14th and 16th centuries which is older than the British and Nigerian put together, our clans and languages maybe Igbo, Urhobo, Ijaw, Ibibio, anang, itshekirietc. but the name of our Nation is (Biafra), andunder the umbrella of the (United States of Biafra) shall we all standand achieve our goal because as the wise people say, and I quote (UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL). It’s more clear to me that one of the main reason I was arrested, is because I defiled their divide and rule strategies that were the strongest ideology infuriatedon us as a people, hatred and divided lies has been dispensed on us which the Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba gutter media has impacted into the mind of Biafran’s living within the river line areas, they told you that “Igbos” are never your brothers and sisters, they told you tohate them because they are domineering, while they came and took over your land and properties killing your people at Odi (Bayelsa), and you die in hunger and starvation every day.Their tactics have worked for many years, and I was able to destroyit with fact and figures through Radio Biafra. Before I continue, I want you to pay close attention to the voice of that man living within the River line areas of Biafra Land as he answers these questions. (1) Does the Biafran’s living within the River Line Areas live a good and healthy life? (2) Do their children attend a good school? (3) Is there any clean drinking water for them? (4) Does the Hausa/Fulani, Yoruba cabals care about them? (5) Is there any Electricity and Good road network within their region? (6) Do they fish from their rivers anymore? (7) Do they cultivate in their farm land anymore? ( Is there any social, medical care center for them?(9) Ok due to the environmental polluters within their region is there any measure for their health? (10) Why were they massacred in thousands at Odi in (Bayelsa) state by the former president of Nigeria a Yoruba man, Obasanjo? (11) Why was Ken Saro-Wiwa killed by a Hausa/Fulani formal Head of state Sani Abacha? (12) Why did Adekunle a Yoruba Man shot and killed Isaac Adaka Boro after helping them fight his people Biafrans? (13) Why did they Kill Harri Marshal? (14) Why did they Arrest Asari Dokubo many times? (15) Why is Hausa/Fulani the only people that own all the Oil WHALES in your region? (16)Why the Hausa/Fulani are people the only Oil marketers of over 85 % when the oil is in your area? (17) Why did they chase GEJ out of Office under a Gunpoint? (18) Why isthe youth of this so-called South/South the people guarding the crude Oil Pipelines while the Hausa/Fulani enjoy the Oil flow to the North and Yoruba land the South /west? (19) Why have they finally retrieved the contract of the oil guard from your youth? (20) why do your parents die so quick at the hospital when they sick due to lack of proper medical care while the Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba oppressors/Slave masters fly their family members abroad for an appropriate medical checkup? (21) Why did they always call you the Minorities? (22) Have you asked yourselves why they recognized themselves as the North or Ariwa’s while they call you Niger Delta’s or South/South?I shall leave you to answer these few questions as you meditate over them I shall continue…..I want to speak to the (Oduduwa) Yoruba and the (Ariwa) Hausa/Fulani people through this message. My simple question to the Oduduwa People is this?(1) Why have you chose to be treacherous and backstabbers in nature? (2) Why have you failed to fight and regain your lost territory called (Kwara state) (Oduduwa) land that the Hausa/Fulani people have taken from you? Why you did then fought ruthlessly and killed Biafran’s, seized all their properties and hated them after the war? (3) Why were you Yoruba people adamant when “MKO ABIOLA” won the 1993 free and fairest presidential election was killed in the Prison? (4) Where is your “cocoa “plantation of the Yoruba’s? (5) Why did you people hate the “Igbo” speaking (Biafrans) so much while we come to your land and developed and transform them into modern cities, in other words, buying all your lands from you?To the Hausa/Fulani cattle headers,(1) Why have you focused your hope of livelihood upon the Crude Oil that is in Biafra Land? (2) What Happen to your Agriculture in thenorth? (3) What happened to your 72% empty land in the (Ariwa’s) region that was known as the MOHAMEDEN EMIRATES OF THE NORTH governed by the SOKOTO CALIPHATE..? (4) Why have your Youth become to backward and none productive? (5) Why have your founding fathers from the north rejected Western Education, in other words, impoverishing the young people and future GENERATION? (6) Why do you people chose to kill innocent People who do not believe in your religion? (7) Why do you people decide tokill the Biafran’s whenever a cartoon of Mohammed is designed in Denmark or somewhere else in the western world? ( What was thecrime that the Biafran’s have committed that you people started killing us since 1945 till date? (9) Is it a Crime to live on your own and practice whatsoever you believed in? (10) Why can’t you peopleallow the Biafran go their separate way and build their future? (11) Why are you people dying because of Crude Oil in our land and yet you hate us with passion? While you are answering those questions, i shall continue...I am Nnamdi Kanu, I unequivocally stand to tell the African Union and United Nations and the rest of the world from this den of Death that no matter any silence from you, Biafran must stand because we are not from another planet, and we have right fo |
Recall that Mohammadu Buhari appointed Hammid Ali as Custom's DG This same Hammid Ali was part of the "Kangaroo court" that tried and eventually murdered Men Saro Wiwa.. http://www.opinionriver.com/member-of-ken-saro-wiwa-killer-tribunal-col-hamid-ali-appointed-as-nigerias-customs-boss/ you can read the full story here http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/nov/05/ken-saro-wiwa-memorial-art-bus-denied-entry-to-nigeria?CMP=share_btn_tw |
Sculpture sent as gift to mark 20th anniversary of the environmentalist’s execution seized by Lagos customs officials because of its ‘political value A sculpture created as a memorial to Nigerian environmentalist Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight other activists has been denied entry toNigeria, where it had been sent as a gift to mark the 20th anniversary of their execution by the military government.Customs officials impounded Sokari Douglas Camp’s sculpture, in the form of a steel bus, whenit arrived at Lagos port on 8 September, on grounds of its “political value”. Leaflets and reports sent by courier to commemorate Saro-Wiwa’s life and death were also seized.Subsequent efforts by the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, Social Action and other pressure groups have failed to secure the work’s release and a memorial vigil in Bori-Ogoni may have to go ahead without it.Celestine AkpoBari, national coordinator for the Ogoni Solidarity Forum-Nigeria, has spent the past two months working to secure the release of the sculpture, called The Bus - Living Memorial, from a secure area of Lagos port and remains determined to get it to Ogoniland, nine hours’ drive from Lagos, next week.“I have been fortunate to see the bus in London but it will be so exciting to see it in Nigeria, I don’t know if I might faint,” he told the Guardian. “It will give so much happiness and strength and every Ogoni will want to come home and see it. We are still looking forward to hearing the good news, weneed the bus because it is the symbol of our struggle now that Ken is not with us. We will use the presence of the bus to begin another era of our campaign for justice.”The Bus was commissioned following a competition to mark the 10th anniversary of the executions andfirst exhibited outside the Guardian’s London offices in 2006. The artist described her work as a “spectacle” and symbol of the importance of transport to environmental debate. The Bus memorial to Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni 8 means to the Ogoni struggle for environmental justice in the Niger Delta. The Bus was made by Sokari Douglas Camp in 2006 and was the result of an international competition to create the Living Memorial to Ken Saro-Wiwa, initiated by Platform. Photograph: PlatformIt was given to the Ogoni people by UK campaign group Platform, to show solidarity withcontinuingefforts to get oil giant Shell to repair damage caused by spills in Ogoniland over many years.Saro-Wiwa’shanging on 10 November 1995sparked international outrage and led to the country’s suspension from the Commonwealth for four years, until the military handed control back to a civilian government in 1999. In 2009Shell agreed to pay $15.5m (£9.6m)to settle a claim brought by relatives of the Ogoni nine, after it was accused of having collaborated in the violation of their human rights. The Bus spent four days at the bottom of the Thames in August, after it was dropped while being loaded on to a ship at the Port of Tilbury in Kent, and was repaired before leaving the UK for Lagos on 19 August. The plan was for it to make several stops in Nigeria en route to its final destination in Ogoniland.

INrecognition of his support and love, Ohaneze Ndigbo and Igbo Traders Association in Ekiti State have conferred the title‘Nwanne di na mba of Igboland’(Brother who takes care of us in the diaspora) on Governor Ayodele Fayose.Fayose’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi said the award was apt as it came when the governormarked the first year of his second term in office.Speaking on the occasion, President of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Ekiti State, Prince Nathaniel Uzoma, said his people were appreciative of the love and support of the governor for them. He added that he was happy to learn that the governor even gave one of hissons an Igbo name Chukwuemeka. Uzoma also commended the governor for appointing an Igbo man into the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board. In his acceptance, Fayose said Igbo were a peculiar people and commended their industrious nature. He recalled that as a businessman, he had a lot of interactions with Igbo people and learnt a lot from them.“Very close to my business premises in Ibadan in those days was an Igbo trader who had two apprentices named Chukwu and Emeka. I loved their sense of dedication and industry. I loved them so much that when I had a baby boy then, I decided to name him after the boys…” said Fayose.

I am not a Biafran and neither am I igbo. I do however believe that it is the inalienable right of any human being or ethnic nationality to aspire to be free and to be able to determine their own destiny. The right of self-determination is enshrined in international law and it is guaranteed by every moral stricture known to man.It is a right that has been exercised successfully over and over again in world history and it has led to the creation of new nations which were carved out of older ones. The denial of that right and the suppression and persecution of those who attempt to exercise it leads to nothing but defiance, dissent and resistance and, if not properly managed, it eventually spills over into war and carnage. This has been the primary cause of most of history’s most brutal civil wars, including the American, Russian, French, English, Indian, Sri Lankan, Sudanese, Nigerian, Angolan, Congolese, Zimbabwean, Yugoslavian, Ukrainian, Nicaraguan, Cuban, Irish, Syrian, Libyan, Indonesian, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, Iraqi, Italian ones and countless others. I do not believe in violent change and neither do Ibelieve in war, revolution, terror or the use of arms in the pursuance of even the most noble causes.I do however believe in the power of ideas and the right of any man, woman or people to yearn to be free from bondage and to peacefully and freely express that yearning. It is in this context that I situate my belief in and support for those that view the Nigerian Federation as an oppressive entity which has effectively enslaved its people in an attempt to create what is essentially an artificial and unworkable state. Those that believe in Nigeria have every right to continue to do so and to voice their resolve to keep Nigeria one. What they do not have the rightto do is to refuse to offer the same degree of freedom of expression to those that do not believe in a united Nigeria and who instead believe in the peaceful dissolution of our nation to speak their minds and voice their views. What is good for the goose is surely good for the gander. You cannot grant one side of the divide freedom of expression whilst you deny it to the other. This is all the more so because freedom of expression is the lifeblood of any democracy. It must be accorded in equal measure to those thatbelieve in Nigeria and to those that do not. It is in this light that we must consider the plight of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra and the man that has been described by the Igbo World Assembly as ”Buhari’s first political prisoner”.We may not like his style, we may not like his radio station, we may not share his views or approve of his methods but one thing that we cannot take from Mr. Kanu is his right to hold such views and to express them in a peaceful and lawful manner no matter how distasteful those views may be to some. To deny him this most basic human right is not only an act of intellectual terrorism but it is also the most graveand barbaric manifestation of what is essentiallyan evolving police state where different or contrary views cannot be accommodated by those in power. When Mr. Alex Salmon and his Scottish Nationalist Party began the agitation for the dissolution of the United Kingdom and for the establishment of Scottish independence many years ago they were not charged to court, locked up indefinitely or murdered by the British authorities but instead they were eventually given the opportunity to participate in a referendum and test their ideas. The same thing happened in the Catalan region of Spain where the agitation for the establishment of a new nation is compelling and very popular.Sadly President Buhari who, like most in his generation, are still stuck in the mindset of a civilwar general, has refused to learn from this. The biggest mistake and miscalculation of his administration so far is not the ruthless implementation of its patently and monstrously unapologetic northern agenda but rather its absurd resolve to lock up Mr. Kanu indefinitely and to effectively throw the key away simply because he dared to call for the establishment ofBiafra. As far as I am aware Mr. Kanu has not used or advocated the use of violence whilst expressing himself and neither have any of his supporters. One therefore wonders what has panicked the Federal Government to such a point that they notonly have to lock him up but that they also have to violate the law of the land by not allowing him to see his lawyer and by not presenting him before a court of law and charging him within theconstitutionally-prescribed three days. State-sponsored violence and intimidation, the violation of human rights, illegal incarceration, the murder of innocents and the vicious suppression of legitimate ideas leads to nothing but hardened hearts, greater defiance and the spread of anger and dissent. The principle is simple and clear: the more you fan the flame of tyranny and repression the more the passion andfire for liberty spreads. It follows that the biggest favor that President Buhari’s security agencies could have done for the Biafran cause was to lock up Mr. Kanu and thereby transform him from being a little-known secessionist into the living symbol of the Biafran struggle, a respected freedom fighter, a champion of the Igbo people and an internationally-acclaimed political prisoner. It is no wonder that leading politicians from all over the world, including the former Home Secretary and former Leader of the Labor Party in the United Kingdom, Mrs. Harriet Harman, have called for his release. President Putin of Russia and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of Israel have done the same.Their call was the right and proper thing to do and I add my voice to that call. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Kanu but I am moved by his passion and courage. I am also persuaded by the logic and force of his public assertions. He has made a compelling case for the establishment of Biafra and millions of young Igbos from all over the world have bought into it.It is left for those that do not agree with him to make a better case and to stem the Biafran tide. That is the monumental challenge that those thatdo not agree with Mr. Kanu’s views or his methods have. I have not always been on the same page with our Igbo brothers yet despite that one thing is clear: only the callous would deny the fact that they have suffered immeasurably in the Nigerian Federation over the last 50 years.Only the uninformed would deny the fact that they have been butchered, murdered, persecuted, broken, humiliated, insulted, cheated and treated with contempt and disdain more than any other ethnic group in the country since July 1966.What the Nigerian state is confronted with in the new generation of igbos who refuse to be cowed is a time-bomb. Unlike their fathers they cannot be appeased or intimidated. They are not fearful of the prospect of a second civil war. They are not prepared to settle for crumbs and neither do they fear death, conflict, defeat, incarceration, butchery or persecution. They are imbued with a spirit that cannot be suppressed and the more they cry ”Biafra” the more the spirits of the millions that were slaughtered on the Biafran side during the civil war are invoked. The more they cry ”Biafra” the more the souls of the hundreds of thousands of their people that were butchered during the barbaric pogroms in the north in the mid-60’s areremembered. The worst thing that the Nigerian authorities can do is to treat them with levity or contempt. They are angry, they are fed up, they refuse to be enslaved, they want a brighter future and they have come to realise that they have nothing to lose. The most inappropriate thing that PresidentBuhari can do is to continue to underestimate thepower of their resolve or the clarity of their intent. The worst thing that they can do is to begin to jailthem, to shed their blood and to take their lives. The more you lock up the Biafrans, the more theywill rise up. The more you mock them, the more they will shout. The more you kill them, the more their anger will be kindled. The more you deny them, the more they will wax stronger. The more you treat them with disdain, the more they will defy you. You cannot resist an idea whose time has come. This is a fact that we must all accept and it is with this in mind that I urge President Buhari and the Federal Government to not only release Mr. Nnamdi Kanu but also to tread with the utmost restraint and caution when dealing with those that are agitating for Biafra. One of the great benefits of being a coastal nation is the opportunity to have seaports which creates a lot of economic opportunities, far more than would be available to land-locked countries. This is because long before air travel and even till date, having access to sea means access to take part in international trade in a big capacity. Nigeria is blessed with a coastline of 853km, ranking it 92 in the world by length of coastline has taken a decent effort at turning this blessing into an economic opportunity, with six port complexes built along it – the Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports in Lagos; Rivers; Delta; Calabar and Onne Port complexes. Obviously, the ports in Lagos are the two busiest ports, serving as the economic door into the nation. The bulk of imports and exports of Nigeria go through the port, so much that it is not out of place to forget that other ports exist. The implication of this is that it has contributed to the overcrowding and chaotic nature of the traffic and environment of the city of Lagos, as businesses that are dependent on shipping activities try to be situated as close to the city or within it as possible. Also, it has increases the cost of business for many importers and exporters, having to transport their goods from or to Lagos. It has also contributed to the wear and tear of our roads in the absence of an efficient rail system, as containers are transported by land over long distances; this is not to mention the numerous cases of road mishaps involving trailers and containers. Without doubt, there is plenty of room for more ports in Nigeria, especially deep seaports that are at least 30 feet deep (regular ports are about 20 feet deep), which will allow very large and heavily loaded ships to make use of it. Of course, the larger the ships, the more containers can be loaded unto it, which saves cost in the end. One region that will be an excellent site for the siting of a deep seaport will be the South-South region, and for all the right reasons: First, a deep seaport in the region can serve not just the South-South region, but also the South-East which hosts a large number of importers and exporters who have to bear the costs of transporting their goods all the way to and from Lagos. If the deep seaport is connected to the Port-Harcourt – Maiduguri rail line which is under improvement, the port will also make it easier for importers and exporters in many parts of the North-Central and the North-West. Not only that, such a port will create a new economic corridor connecting the North East and parts of the North-Central to the South-East and South-South, thus reducing the pressure on Lagos and stimulating economic activities and development along the new corridor. A deep seaport in the South-South will also be a boost to our offshore economic activities and be able to have impact in the entire Gulf of Guinea, impacting deep offshore operations even as far as Angola. The Akwa Ibom State government during the immediate past administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio initiated the Ibaka Deep Seaport Project which with a depth of about 49 – 54 feet without dredging with a completion date set for 2015. The project, which is also hoping that its being situated in the oil-producing South-South will spur the establishment of petrochemical industries and refineries around the complex for easy export will also have hotels and a dockyard/watercraft repair facilities. However, the end of 2015 is in sight and the port is far from being completed. It is time that the Federal Government to show support in every manner possible to the project in order to expedite its completion as it is too important to let it be subject to the efforts of only one state. The involvement of the Federal Government will help to hasten the completion of the project, as it could prove strategic to the desire of the Buhari administration to spread wealth and create economic opportunities across the country. Lastly, it will also score a vital political point that the administration will not forget the region which largely voted for former President Goodluck Jonathan, considering how impactful the project will be on the area. http://ynaija.com/ynaija-editorial-a-deep-seaport-is-needed-in-the-south-south/ |
