CrimeRe: Uncovered: Lagos Factory Selling Newborns For N1m by GenderMix: 1:35pm On Apr 18
This is really worrisome. What sort of business model would allow a person sell their new born. This is heartless

There is also another trend I have noticed with some women who've been having fertility issues in marriage. Initially you won't notice any sign of pregnancy then after a while they'll be absent for like a month and appear with a new born claiming to have given birth. I am a bit skeptical about these women, although my instincts might be wrong. I hope it's not a racket

saphiere:
So a lady promises a guy she was going to visit him. She later didn't go and was sued and made to pay damages.

On the other hand, a guy promises a lady marriage and did not marry her and she cannot sue him. Like seriously?

For those who would say that the former scenario collected money and refused to go visit him, also note that the latter collected sxxx and refused to marry her.
You can't just sue on the basis of verbal promise to visit unless it's documented somewhere or there's evidence like monetary payment to confirm visit.

In the case of promising to marry someone, unless you have it documented or recorded then you can sue otherwise it will be thrown out. The court operate based on facts and evidence not sentiment

PoliticsRe: Can a Serving or Retired Officer Countermand the President’s Representative? by GenderMix: 8:53am On Nov 12, 2025
Excellent questions

1. A retired military officer does not have the authority to issue orders to active-duty soldiers. Once an officer retires, they relinquish their command authority and are no longer part of the military chain of command.
2. Is the property a military installation or a place of national interest? If not, the soldier has no business being in that property or even preventing the ministry from inspecting the property let a lone the minister who is a rep of the C-in-C
3. The minister has the authority to access the property in his official capacity, especially if he is representing the President's interests. The question then arises as to what right a retired officer has to issue orders restricting the Minister's access to the property.

The soldier and whoever gave that command should be immediately arrested. This not a joking matter

PoliticsRe: Coastal Highway: Again, Umahi, Rufai Oseni Engage In Heated Argument (Video) by GenderMix: 8:32pm On Oct 07, 2025
It's common sense and basic logic

Tell us how much the FG has expended in the "X" km of road that has been constructed so far. We can do the favour of getting the average cost per km... It's basic mathematics.

The way he's going about it, means that the project will be completed and Nigerians tax payers will remain in the dark as to the overall cost of the project. How else do we define criminality?

Nigerian journalists owe Nigerians a huge favour by investigating this and publishing same

descartes400:
What nonsense cost per km is he asking for? Is the cost at Twin Waters / Marwa where the ocean was reclaimed the same as the cost at Jakande where the refuse dump had to be excavated or at Orchid where there is a Flyover?

Is the cost the same at Okun Ajah where an ocean wall had to be constructed? What about Ogombo where the swamp had to be sand-filled? Even along ogombo the sand and stone requirement for sandfilling differs per km.

Engr Umahi has corrected him several times that the better metric is an average cost per km yet he keeps insisting on cost per km.

You can insult all you want, you can even insult your ancestral lineage or even wake your father up in the morning with a flying kick, a damn I give not!
PoliticsRe: Coastal Highway: Again, Umahi, Rufai Oseni Engage In Heated Argument (Video) by GenderMix: 7:12pm On Oct 07, 2025
You are either ignorant, naive or on the payroll of these criminal politicians. Very lame submission.

This project is too critical in our history for the estimated budget or cost not to be in the public. On what basis are they executing the project? Remember it was this same project that got started without an environmental impact assessment.

Nigeria is being run by brutal criminals. As we chat, some projects are going on in this country where contractors are paid in dollars not naira equivalent...Hard dollars... Yes you read it right. You guys should keep playing and foo.ling around

descartes400:
Rufai is at it again, Cost per kilometer; between an engineer and an animal farmer.

"The words of the wise bring them praise, but the words of a fool will destroy them. A fool begins by saying foolish things and ends by saying crazy and wicked things. A fool talks too much." – Ecclesiastes 10:12–14

I admit, I’m not an engineer either. But anyone who has ever built so much as a corner shop knows you can’t reduce a construction project to cost per kilometer. How exactly do you determine that?

Among us - even on this very street - are real estate sages who understand that building a house unfolds in phases: the substructure, the superstructure, the finishing, and several other intricate layers. Each phase gulps its own share of coin and resources. So, if it costs ₦10 million to complete a house, how do you break that cost? Per block? Per bag of cement? Per inch of wall? Or perhaps per square meter?

The Minister was right. You can only derive an average by dividing the total project cost by its total distance, (an unfair measurement). You don’t need a master’s degree in engineering - or even to bother the Minister about it. Any child with a grasp of primary arithmetic can figure that out: you know the budgeted sum, and you know the stretch of the coastal road - do the math yourself.

And, lest we forget, these figures were broken down layer by layer by the Minister during his first interview on the matter. But alas, you can only awaken the drowsy, not those who are pretending to sleep.

Cost per kilometer? grin This isn’t dog breeding, where you can declare cost per puppy, nor cattle rearing, where you can account for cost per calf. This isn’t animal husbandry - this is engineering, a field ruled by science, structure, and sense.

So, you are either humble enough to learn the language of logic, or wise enough to excuse yourself from the gathering of the informed and professional. A fool’s tongue is long enough to cut his own throat. The cockerel that crows the loudest often lays no egg.

wallrichy:
The minister really knows his onion very well even though I don't like the government construction of this coastal road in neglection of the old existing road to the South South And South East.....

Rufai doesn't understand how the roads is being constructed. You don't just give a quote per kilometer on a road that you are yet to ascertain the topography, undulating layout, soil types, swampy, forested, etc......

I believe the minister on his argument even though I don't normally believe anyone called Nigerian.
Which onions? .. Lol

The moment you conceptualize a project in construction for example roads, walkways, etc, your QS can advise you on the cost per linear meter. Though this will be at a high level. Then when the details of the road project are fleshed out, the actual cost can be determined considering inflation, VAT and other factors. The total figure can actually help to determine the cost per km. This was what Mr Rufai was asking and he's absolutely spot on

The Minister Dave Umahi is only trying to be clever by half by speaking jargons and calling himself a professor in practice... 😂

I believe he's dodging the question because if he mentions any amount, he'll put the president and everyone connected to the project at risk of financial accountability with the EFCC. It's just politics

I have been a passerby on Nairaland for some time but I decided to register formally today to assist in my little way in rectifying the psyche of the bulk of the Nigerian population based on comments that have made me cringe uncontrollably over the years.

I do not know Sowore personally but I can say that he is a patriot. I can also say that Nigerians are a deeply weird people, all of us. Imagine an unthinkable case scenario in which the victim of a rape is the defence lawyer of her rapist. Just read some of the comments.

Most of the commenters defending their oppressors beg to survive on a daily basis. What I suggest going forward is that we stop helping each other until we all get serious. When someone begs you for funds, say no. Imagine giving your funds to one of them?

Nonetheless, I appreciate that a lot of people are calling out that in which is wrong, well done to you.
The psyche of the average Nigerian has been so battered that they can't understand when a crime has been committed. If you are in a habit of doing what's right, they'll mock you as though you're foolish. Someone like Wike that's a common criminal is whom some I.diots are defending here. Only the way the last election result of rivers was altered by Wike and his men will tell you the kind of person Wike is.

Every day you see these clowns talking down on Sowore. They want him to be civil with hardened criminals in the name of Nigerian politicians. I don't have any pity for some Nigerians. I know the foolish ones in real life and know how to treat them.

Sowore is the only man so far that's making some of us have hope in Nigeria. He is a real patriot and I don't think we deserve him yet.

Young woman, you sound very very naive. I dont blame you anyways. Sometimes in life we learn from our experience.
As someone who has been married for over a decade, please that boy is deceiving you. He is not ready to settle down now. he may eventually settle down with you, who knows. However, you are starting of on the wrong premise. Please cherish your body. its is out of line to be having sex with someone you are not married to. You can kiss but please refrain from sexual intercourse till marriage.

It should not take up to a month for a man to tell you his intentions if he is serious with you. Here is what you can do

1. Tell him you are done having sex till marriage. it is a tough decision, if he is yours he will stay. You also need to control yourself
2. He needs to be very specific about his intention. You must have this conversation.
3. Ask that you wll like to meet his siblings or parents just to know who you are dealing with.
4. Never meet with him in private again. This is one strategy used to avoid intimacy.

Please don't disappoint yourself and your parents.

crypto is a very speculative kind of investment. If you have the patience and skill, it will be worth it in the coming years. However its very risky.

If you want to play safe, just put your cash in money market (mutual funds). Some have interest as high as 21% per annum. Stanbic Ibtc is a good way to go. Coronation mutual funds with access bank is also good. You can buy US stocks as well using bamboo (you just have to be patient and study the market)

Please you see this investment thing, I have been burnt severely.

First I invested in cryptocurrency, the likes of Solana, Polygon, Dogecoin and Litecoin. Out of all 4 I only had a big break in Dogecoin when it appreciated +100%, but the rest I lost money.

Now I wanted to invest in stocks, but I am not familiar with how the whole thing works or should I say I am skeptical. Though my present investment is on cassava and potatoes(I got the ones that produce after 3 months), though the potatoes are for personal consumption, but I sell the cassava tuber to fufu sellers.

If you have legit resources on the stock or bonds investment, I'll really appreciate.

PropertiesRe: Pay Security Fee Or Be Arrested, Legal Or Illegal? by GenderMix: 7:43am On Aug 07, 2025
Security levy is not a must but it's encouraged by the Nigerian police and you can be summoned by the police for refusing to contribute if the CDA is registered with the government

You need to find out under what umbrella they are collecting the Security levy and who the chairman of the CDA is or the street collecting the money. You also need to ask questions for the sake of accountability. You should not pay a dime if you suspect fraud without proper answers.

I tell you that most Security levy and association dues especially in lagos are actually diverted. If they can't open their books, it means it's illegal , hence be reluctant about paying. There are channels to follow through with regards to this

PropertiesRe: LASPPPA Decries Low Building Approval Rate In Lagos. by GenderMix: 5:21pm On May 19, 2025
Macphenson:
I have said this for the umpteenth time, Lagos State Government should go back and review the process of building approval and by extension regulation.

The process is more of income generation and exploitatitive than actual regulation.

First of all building approvals should be domicilled with the local government which will.in turn aide easy regulation and oversight.

The timing of approval is a major factor that Lagos state government needs to look into. Most times it takes between 8 months to one year for a building to be approved. Approval shouldnt take more than three months. Because of timing, a lot of developers will submit building plan for approval and commence the development while waiting for the appeoval because it takes time.

Another factor is the cost. Lagos state government should look into the cost of building approval as it is scaring people away. A lot of developers would rather keep the money meant for approval to use and bribe their corrupt officials and agents.

Also Lagos State Building Control Agency should be solely and entirely incharge of everything building construction regulation. Agencies like Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority( LASPPA,) Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory , Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC) and Lagos State Waste Management Agency ( LAWMA) should all be a unit under Lagos State Building Control Agency so that the desired result of building regulation could easily be achieved and not making the entire process so cumbersome and exploitative for Lagosians. That way people will be glad to comply easily with building codes and regulations.
Thank you for Such an outstanding submission. I rest my case.

FamilyRe: Public Opinion Poll: Boys Wearing Earrings by GenderMix: 10:31am On Apr 21, 2025
To Nigeria's youth, it's a fashion trend but I can tell you they are just confused and copying whatever they like on the internet. "Anywhere Belle face"

Culture , they say is the way of life of a people. When did wearing earrings by males become the culture of any ethnic group in Nigeria. If it's India, it's understandable because it's part of their culture.

I have no issues with it but I think people should just be sensible the way they live their lives. People should try to be original and authentic. Living a fake life in the name of being "woke" is absolute foolishness. Leave earrings for people who's culture involves wearing earrings and stay true to your culture. It's the same reason our government has gone to copy a Constitution that has no direct positive impact in the lives of Nigerians.

If you are in lagos state and you drive, just be very careful with your speed limit in some areas. Even if you exceed the limit by 1km you will pay 50,000 naira. This is no joke.

I was about regularizing my car papers when I was told I had a fine of 50,000 naira. I was shocked because there was no prior notification. I was directed to this site ....https://payvis.ng/... to check. I checked and discovered that I exceeded the speed limit by 3km/hr on Mobolaji Bank Anthony way . The speed limit there was 60km. The picture of my car and other details where shown.

Many people are not aware that they have exceeded the limit until they try to update their papers.

You can check with your plate number on ....https://payvis.ng/...

Every country has criminals and evil minded individuals ready to do stuff for financial gain. This is typical. However there has to be a robust system in place to checkmate such practice and reward people who engage In productive activities.

Nigeria has system to checkmate criminals but a weak enforcement system.

Does Nigeria have policies set aside to reward productive ventures? This is what people look forward to in systems that work. It encourages hardwork.
FamilyWhat Is The Nigerian Dream? by GenderMix(op): 6:02am On Apr 11, 2025
The concept of a national dream is often associated with the United States, where citizens aspire to own homes, access quality healthcare and education, and enjoy well-maintained infrastructure. The American government prioritizes these basic amenities, making them easily accessible to the average citizen. This, in turn, contributes to a high quality of life, happiness, and national pride.

In Nigeria, the situation is different. Many citizens struggle to access these fundamental necessities due to inadequate infrastructure and ineffective governance. This raises questions about the government's policies and actions: Have they improved the lives of Nigerians? Do citizens feel a sense of pride and ownership in their country?

What is the Nigerian Dream?
