This your comment is a clear example of defeatist mentality.

Someone illegally treespassed into your country and striding freely while armed, a complete violation of international laws and disrespect of our borders and you expect the locals to keep shut because they're armed? If they kill him then it's open war with Cameroon, the soldiers are aware of that.
That citizen showed remarkable bravery and patriotism to challenge those soldiers, the Nigerian government should respond to this blatant violation of borders immediately.

Nigeria is too small for it to happen. Syria and Turkey were once a Christian country, they were one of the five major Christian cities alongside Rome, Egypt and Jerusalem. But today Turkey and Syria are Islamised.

Yes it will break Nigeria, but that breakage is going to be only the SE and SS, the SW and the rest will just go along with the Islamisation.

Lol.... Turkey was once a major Christian nation, it was known as Constantinople , before that it was known as the sit of power of the Byzantium empire. It used to be the site if the biggest church in Europe, the Hagia Sophia. It was the greatest Christian city in the east, equal to the Church in Antioch Syria, Rome, Jerusalem and Alexandria in Egypt.

Today Constantinople now Turkie is a Muslim country. Even Syria which was a major Christian country is now a majority Muslim country or islamised.

So don't say it can never happen, countries that were far more christained have been converted and Nigeria is not even majorly a Christian country, it's 45% christain and 50 % Muslim.
PoliticsRe: Joe Igbokwe Escapes Mob Attack At Ladipo Market, Lagos by GeneralOuki: 12:05pm On Jun 08
akpumping7720:
Are you up for a debate? Those I taught government in secondary schools some years back can do better than that jargons you wrote up there.

Tafawa Balewa wasn't reporting to Azikiwe when he was the ceremonial president. They held different roles and Azikiwe was just a figure head.

And for your information, Azikiwe didn't really fight like others for our independence. The likes of Chief Anthony Enahoro, Ahmadu Bello, Chief Awolowo and others were meeting with British delegates for Nigeria's independence. As matter of fact, Chief Anthony Enahoro moved the motion for self-independence which was vehemently rejected by the Northern politicians. So don't come and twist history as if Azikiwe was the super hero of Nigeria's independence.
Apparently you're part of those teachers that taught students wrongly which is why massive failures were recorded in WEAC and jamb in Government studies.

While it correct that Chief Anthony Enahoro played pivotal and that the Northern opposed independence, you mischievously downplay Azikiwe's significant and widely recognized contributions to Nigeria's independence struggle.

Azikiwe was a "driving force" and a "driving force behind the nation's independence". He has been described as the "leader of modern day nationalists", He used his newspaper, the West African Pilot, as a "powerful weapon to fight the colonialists" and co-founded the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), a major political party that fought for independence. He also led delegations to London and the US to argue for self-governance.

All the mentioned figures, including Azikiwe, were central to the independence negotiations. Constitutional conferences leading to independence included major political figures from the three main parties: Azikiwe and Awolowo from the South, and Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa from the North. After the 1959 elections, Bello’s NPC formed a coalition government with Azikiwe’s NCNC, which was essential to achieving independence in 1960.

So your comment is built on an incomplete and misleading premise. While you correctly identifies Anthony Enahoro's crucial role, you erroneously attempt to diminish Nnamdi Azikiwe's status, which the overwhelming historical consensus places among the very top tier of figures who fought for Nigeria's freedom.

Hmmmm... If the Lagos State Government decides to reason your matter l'asan, you guys are done for. Walahi!

Why are people this ignorant? They don't hate Igbokwe because of his support for Tinubu, there are other igbo people who support Tinubu that walk around freely in ìgbo populated areas unharmed or harnessed.
Igbokwe's case is not political, he's a well known anti Igbo and South east person, he has nothing but derogatory, condescending and hateful remarks on the igbo people and SE zone despite being an Igbo man. That's a profound betrayal of one's kin. Cubaana and his chief priest publicly declared their support for Tinubu and even came to SE to campaign for him and the people did attack or harass them, they even came out to cheer them in their home towns, so it's not about politics.

A New Call to Leadership: Security is the Foundation of Nigeria’s Future

The greatest threat facing Nigeria today is no longer inflation, unemployment, or even corruption. It is fear.

A nation where citizens are afraid to travel, afraid to farm, afraid to send their children to school, afraid to worship, and afraid to invest is a nation gradually shutting down its own economy. We must stop pretending. Something fundamental is not working, and every Nigerian feels it.

Every day, the headlines repeat the same tragic story: kidnappings, abductions, ransoms, and killings. What began on highways has spread to villages, schools, places of worship, and farmlands. Nowhere feels truly safe anymore. The most dangerous development is not the crimes themselves, but their normalization. Too many have grown numb to the bad news.

Yet every single incident of insecurity is more than a security failure. It is an economic crisis. It is an education crisis. It is an agricultural and investment crisis. It is a national development emergency.

- When farmers abandon their land out of fear, food prices rise and hunger spreads.
- When students stay home, our future is diminished.
- When investors pull back, jobs disappear.
- When professionals emigrate, our institutions weaken.

Security is not just one sector of governance — security is the bedrock of the entire economy. Nothing functions effectively without it.

To state governors across our 36 states: the excuse that you do not control the police or military is no longer sufficient. Leadership demands action. What stops state governments from equipping police stations with operational vehicles, reliable fuel, communication systems, surveillance technology, and drones? What prevents the building of robust community intelligence networks and genuine partnerships with federal security agencies?

A poorly equipped officer cannot secure lives with empty hands. We must stop treating security funding as mere expenditure. It is the most critical investment any responsible government can make.

Look at nations that command global respect. They did not rise by chance. They understood early that national security protects everything else — investment, innovation, education, and prosperity. Citizens and capital flow only where safety is assured.

Imagine a Nigeria where every security outpost is properly equipped, personnel are well-motivated, response times are swift, and communities actively support intelligence efforts. That Nigeria will unlock the full potential of its people.

Security alone will not solve every problem. Poverty, unemployment, weak institutions, and leadership failures must also be addressed. But without security, no other progress stands. It is the indispensable foundation.

Any leader — President, Governor, Senator, or Local Chairman — who measurably reduces insecurity in their domain will earn a lasting legacy. Because safety restores confidence. And confidence drives farming, investment, education, business creation, and national prosperity.

History will not judge leaders by the volume of their speeches or promises. It will judge them by one decisive question: *Did Nigerians feel safer under their watch?*

One secure community generates more wealth than a thousand political rallies. One secure Nigeria will attract more global opportunity than any policy document ever crafted.

The time for excuses is over. Nigerians deserve to live without fear. The question is no longer whether insecurity is crippling our nation — but how much longer we are willing to tolerate it.

ponziponzi:
I don't have the strength for this pen.is swinging contest.

Just know that most Israeli technology depends on US IP and technology. Their entire semiconductor industry is US-based, and even when it's not directly US, they depend on US tools and IP. Even their almighty Iron Dome is heavily dependent on US technology. Most of their tech companies also rely heavily on money from the US, like Wall Street.

The US defense budget is more than $1 trillion, so what's $30 billion/year? Funding the IDF isn't just about giving money or weapons alone. A lot of the technology comes from what the US has developed because of their enormous R&grin investment. All this myth that Israel is an island, that they're some kind of superhuman with super intelligence who can do anything, is just bullshit. They are a regional military power propped up by a global superpower's supply chain. Without US tools, IP, and spare parts, their high-tech military grinds to a halt. They know this, that is which is why they are desperately trying to lock in the relationship permanently, not walk away from it, and they shouldn't.
Like I said, you have no idea what you're talking about, you're just spitting out Popular talk points without understanding what they really mean and how they apply with US and Israel partnership. The iron dome was conceived, developed and originally produced entirely by Israel, The Iron Dome was born out of a direct Israeli need after the 2006 Lebanon War, against the advice of the U.S. at the time. It was developed by Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, with the radar from Elta and the command and control from mPrest. A former manager of the project stated clearly in a 2021 interview, "The US didn't have anything to do with the technology of the Iron Dome; Israel developed the whole thing on its own."

While the R& D was Israeli, scaling up mass production of the interceptor missiles (Tamir) was extremely expensive. The 2016 U.S/ Israel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) provided the critical strategic top-up.

To access those U.S. funds, Israel had to agree to a co-production model. This means a significant portion of the Tamir interceptor missiles are now manufactured in the United States. In 2020, Rafael and the American defense contractor Raytheon (now RTX) formalized a joint venture called R2S in the U.S. to manufacture the Iron Dome weapon system (the interceptor and launcher) for the U.S. Marine Corps and, crucially, for Israel itself. This makes the supply chain heavily dependent on the U.S., even if the technology isn't.

The US doesn't give Israel $30b in funding my guy. That's Israel's own annual budget, what the US gives them in exchange of partnership and intelligence sharing is just $3b which is entirely spent on American tech in the US. Go and read about these things and stop sounding ignorant.

Israel is not entirely dependent on US both economically and tech wise, you've obviously been listening to ignorant tiktok influencers or podcasters who spew nonsense after nonsense to those with very little understanding of how these things work. You have a mobile device, use it and educate yourself on this matter my guy.

Many countries have INS systems, not just Israel. And many of their technologies are still dependent on U.S. IP and the global supply chain. Also, it is not a substitute for GNSS.

I didn’t say they can’t build jets; even Sweden and Turkey have their own fighter jets. They were pressured not to build theirs by the Americans because they fund a large part of the IDF budget. That is why America is their father. Even if they decide to build, they will need a lot of U.S. technology and supply chain.

No matter what you call the F-35, it is a product of Lockheed Martin, a U.S. company.

Israel needs the US for everything; their existence depends on the support of the US. The US provides them with economic, technological, and military lifelines. That’s why they listen to the US and spend money to gain influence.
They don't fund IDF budget, at least not in the way you think they do. And it's not because if of funding that made Israel stop producing their own fighter jets, the reason why they pressured Israel was because the Lavi was a direct competitor to the US jets .

IDF budget in a year is $30 billion, US military aid to Israel is just $3.6b, so tell me how they're funding IDF? Besides, the US military aid to Israel is not in cash transfer but a grant that Israel must spend within the US military complex. Not a single bit of that $3.6b leaves US shores. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

They will not need any US technology or supply, they built the Lavi which rivaled the F-16 without any US technology or supply or anything.

The F-35 is a product of Lockheed yes, but it's being co produced with Israel and other NATO countries, Israel just has an exclusive right to modify their version and theirs is not like the regular F-35s being produced by Lockheed. This is a very open knowledge my guy, try read more on this things.

Lol... You're not well versed on this subject, no doubt. Israel doesn't need US for everything. The entire US aid to Israel is less than 10% of Israel's annual budget. Their existence has never depended on the US support, this is the misconceptions that anti Israel people make, they erroneously think that without US the state of Israel will cease to exist, that's an ignorant thing to believe.

Their economy is self sufficient, they don't need the US, they produce so many military hardwares which are sort after by many European and Asian countries. They're very technologically advanced, you have to be to be able to develop the defence systems that they use, be able to modify the f-35 etc. Go and read up on the indigenous technologies produced in Israel. Go and take a look at their desalination technology which is the best in the world.
