PRESS RELEASE

NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE UPDATE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC ON ITS ONGOING RECRUITMENT EXERCISE

1. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is pleased to inform the general public on the progress of its ongoing recruitment exercise, which commenced with an official advertisement published in national newspapers on Friday, 27th December 2024. In line with its statutory mandate to strengthen manpower capacity and enhance service delivery, a total of 3,927 vacancies were declared across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.

2. The Service received a total of 573,523 applications during the first phase of the exercise. After a rigorous documentary scrutiny, 286,697 candidates were invited to proceed to the next phase. The second stage of the exercise, scheduled to take place from September 14th to 21st, 2025, will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), reflecting the Service’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and fairness in the selection process.

3. Candidates shortlisted for the CBT are required to undertake the test at any location of their choice, provided there is reliable internet access. The exercise must, however, be conducted using a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam and a full-screen display, as the application is not mobile phone-enabled. A facial verification process will be carried out during login; therefore, candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid difficulties with recognition.

4. The CBT application is sensitive to noise and body movement. Accordingly, candidates must remain fully focused throughout the test's duration, as excessive movement, whispering, or background distractions may result in automatic logout by the system.
In the same vein, candidates are advised to avoid switching between windows during the test, as such actions will be flagged as malpractice and may lead to disqualification.

5. To further assist shortlisted applicants, the Service has made provisions for a mandatory pre-test exercise, which will be conducted two days before the actual CBT. This session will enable candidates to familiarise themselves with the application. In this regard, two separate links will be sent to all shortlisted applicants, one for the pre-test and another for the actual examination. Candidates who applied for the Superintendent Cadre (Level cool should note that they will be invited for an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment exercise. This provision does not apply to the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.

6. The Nigeria Customs Service assures all stakeholders that the ongoing recruitment process remains strictly merit-driven and transparent. Successful candidates will be duly informed of subsequent phases of the exercise through the Service’s official communication channels, the details of which will be conveyed in due course. Applicants are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the issued guidelines and to rely solely on verified official platforms of the Service for authentic updates, as the NCS will neither request any form of payment nor conduct recruitment activities on social media platforms.

NNPC sacks Bala Wunti, 200 other officials in major shake-up

NNPC’s C-suite and rank-and-file appeared excited about the exercise, with some suggesting Mr Ojulari took the action to create broader opportunities for women and other minority groups.

Arestructuring exercise has claimed at least 200 officials of the NNPC, Peoples Gazette can report, as chief executive Bayo Ojulari launches his first broad action on the state-run oil firm since he assumed office earlier this month.

Multiple company sources listed Bala Wunti, former head of NAPIMS, and Lawal Sade, the agency’s chief compliance officer, among those who were either forced to retire or terminated with immediate effect. Ibrahim Onoja, managing director of the Port Harcourt Refinery, has also been excused from the organisation, sources said.

NNPC’s C-suite and rank-and-file appeared excited about the exercise, multiple sources said, with some suggesting Mr Ojulari took the action to create broader opportunities for women and other minority groups to advance in the organisation.

“Over 200 employees have just been asked to go,” a top official said under anonymity to discuss the action. “This restructuring will enhance female representation in leadership positions.”

Mr Ojulari elevated Maryamu Idris to replace Lawal Sade as managing director of trading, an official said, where she would oversee crude oil transactions. Obioma Abangwu was appointed chief laiason office for NNPC’s management board, The Gazette heard.

A corporate communications spokesman for the NNPC did not immediately return a request seeking comments about today’s development.

Mr Ojulari, a former Shell executive, assumed office on April 4, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu a few days earlier. He replaced Mele Kyari, a career official who ran the oil giant for five years before his removal.

How Tinubu helped my daughter secure job at NUPRC – Buba Galadima

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and key figure in the Kwankwasiyya movement, has opened up on how his daughter secured a job at the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) through President Bola Tinubu.

He spoke while during a programme on AIT.
Galadima said despite his constant criticism of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government, he is still friends with President Tinubu.

He said: “We are friends and will continue to be friends. If I want anything from him, I can ask. Let me confess on national television. My daughter used my phone to call the President and the President picked the call thinking it was me. And they said they are my children, and that they are calling him because the country is hard.

NNPP leadership still under our control Kwankwaso’s camp

NNPP chieftain warns Kwankwaso against rushed alliances

“They told Tinubu that ‘our father cannot do this for us and he told us that you are his friend.

“The little one said she just finished the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), she could not get a job with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) headed by Gbenga Komolafe. He (Tinubu) just asked, ‘call Komolafe’, go and give my friend’s daughter job’. That is why she wants to go to Mecca to thank God and to thank even Mr President.”

Speaking further, the NNPP chieftain said he worked for former President Muhammadu Buhari for 13 years while his daughter worked for four years without pay.

“My daughter worked for him for four years and he instructed that she should not be paid salary.

“Let them bring any voucher where she was paid. She worked for Buhari for four years in Osinbajo’s office without payment,” he said.

Nigerian Man Who Misses His Wedding To Attend NNPC Recruitment Exam Gets Employed | #AbnTv

A Nigerian man made a significant sacrifice to attend an interview exam with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, choosing to miss his own wedding as both events fell on the same day.

An X user, @young_engr_, shared the story, revealing that the man is his colleague.

According to the X post, the man’s wedding and recruitment exam fell on the same day, but he prioritized the exam, missing his own wedding.

His decision earned him the nickname “Angon NNPC” from his colleagues.

Fortunately, he secured the job on merit, without any connections, according to the post.

The post reads; “My colleague whose wedding was on the same day with the recruitment exam, man went for the exam and didn’t attend the wedding, we all start calling him angon NNPC from then, Alhamdulillah he got the job with no connection, whatever you do in this life trust Allah.”

See the viral tweet; My colleague whose wedding was on the same day with the recruitment exam, man went for the exam and didn't attend the wedding, we all start calling him angon NNPC from then, Alhamdulillah he got the job with no connection, whatever you do in this life trust Allah.
