FEDERAL TERTIARY HOSPITALS TO INCREASE RECRUITMENT OF HEALTH WORKERS In a bid a address burnout and shortage of human resource for health in Federal Tertiary Hospitals (FTHs), Federal Government has ordered Chief Medical Directors of all FTHs to double their intake of personnel. Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Ms Daju Kachollom mni, made this known at a meeting with the Hon. Min. of State for Labour and Employment, Bar. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha @nkeiruka_reps and the Leadership of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) @nard_nigeria , led by Dr. Dele Abdullahi. The meeting was convened to engage with NARD over issues the association had raised in a recent correspondence to the Federal Ministry of Labour. Speaking, Daju who said that the directive to the CMDs had already taken effect, stated that this was in addition to the planned training of frontline health workers and other government measures to tackle the issue of shortage of manpower in Federal Tertiary Hospitals. She further highlighted concerted efforts by the Ministry to improving the country’s healthcare system and working conditions of healthcare workers, mentioning that expansion and upgrade activities was in progress in various hospitals across the country, including strategic collaborations to increase interventions such as the ongoing consultations with the Federal Ministry of Power on the provision of Solar Systems for all FTHs. With regards to increased renumeration she said that such conversations must be had with the relevant MDAs present. But for the delayed implementation of allowances and owed salaries, she said the Ministry had written as well as met with the National Salaries Income Wages Commission and was waiting on a feedback. Adding that in the coming days government will begin payment of the 2024 MRTF. However, she lamented the incessant attacks on health workers especially doctors across the country citing the recent occurrence at the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja which she described as disheartening. And noted that the Ministry had set in motion plans to engage with security agencies including the NSA to find preventive measures against these attacks. In the meantime, she said that efforts are ongoing to beef up security in the hospitals through perimeter fencing, installing of CCTV amongst others. The permanent secretary while appreciating the Minister of States for calling the meeting, as it afforded NARD the opportunity to put in perspective the issues affecting the association, appealed for the review of Collective Bargaining Agreements especially as it concerns validity to avoid having unending agreements that hampers effective implementations of these agreements. She assured all present that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare will continue to keep track of all CBAs to ensure complete implementation in the interest of industrial harmony, |

Haleefah:Is first 28 days, but if you are posted to office within your LGA in your address, in civil service rule you may only get 30% of the allowance, the more the distance of your address in your appointment letter to the place of your deployment the more the pay. Employment Scam: ICPC Secures 5-Year Jail Term for NSCDC’s Commandant The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has secured the conviction of Mr. Christopher Oluchukwu, a Commandant with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for his involvement in employment scam. In the case filed by ICPC at the Katsina State High Court 3, the convict was accused of receiving the sum of N200,000:00, N300,000:00 and N400,000:00 respectively from three individuals under the pretext of securing jobs for their children with the NSCDC. The victims had reported the matter to ICPC after the convict failed to procure the said job and refused to refund their money. During the course of the trial, counsel to ICPC, Ibrahim Garba had in a 9-counts charge told the court how the action of the convict negates Sections 8,10 and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000. Attention 9 pm news News Flash: FG approves Salary increase for civil servants* The Federal Government has approved an increase of between 25% and 35% in salary Increase for Civil Servants on the remaining six Consolidated Salary Structures The Salary Structure are Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS) and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS). It will be recalled that those in the Tertiary Education and Health Sectors had already received their increases which involved Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS) for Universities. For Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, it involved the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS). The Health Sector also benefitted through the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).
