FamilyRe: How To Prepare For Retirement Without Stress by Gentlebabs(m): 3:35pm On Oct 25, 2018
Retirement planning starts from your first income, not a few years to retirement. One day you will retire, but on what? One day, either by retirement, retrenchment or resignation, you will be out of service. Are you self employed? You will not be as active as you are now in the last quarter of your economic life, best you prepare and plan. Kudos to the poster. Babatunde Raimi

RomancePoem: Married But Single by Gentlebabs(op): 8:45pm On Oct 18, 2018
Poem: Married But Single

You promised friendship
Love and companionship
You said for better for worst
But ignored my emotions
Each time you walk away
A portion of me dies

If marriage was about procreation
I could have married anyone
But i waited for love
In prayer and fasting
God sent me an Angel
Truth is, i am married but single

Loneliness is killing me
I am sick and tired
Cold nights reminds me of us
I miss us Sweety
Beyond pleasure trips
And the glory of comfort
Give me a me time
Just like the good old days

There is a crack in the wall
Laptop and phones took my place
Even though you are married to me
I want it back love back
Before i loose my mind
Lest i fall in the hands of another
Now, this is not a threat.

LiteratureRe: Practical Tips For Effective Reading: Readers Club by Gentlebabs(m): 8:57am On Oct 17, 2018
shollish:
Yes oh

Readers are Leaders!
I had a negative vibe for reading earlier, i hated reading, i read because I had to. But now ny mentality changed I ventured into reading some books recently, I must confess its really good and helpful.

Some good books you can start with are
1) 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey
2) Richest Man in Babylon by George Classon
3) How To Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
4) Think And Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
5) 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.
6) How To Talk To Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere by Larry King
7) Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
cool Art Of War by Sun Tzu
9) Power Of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr Joseph Murphy
10) Art of Seduction by Robert Greene.

It's better you buy them in bookstores (paperback) that's when you will value them most.
i read some of them in Pdf sha
I have read all except number 9. Now that you posted this, I'll look for it. Thank you.

EducationRe: What’s The Most Painful Thing A Lecturer Has Ever Done Or Said To You? by Gentlebabs(m): 8:51am On Oct 17, 2018
Dembuk2009:
Hmmmmm.....
I never imagined a question like this could be constructed!!!
cry cry cry
Sorry you have to read till the end before u know what was done to me.........
The lesson i learnt from that belittling statement is never to belittle anyone cos u don't know their struggle!
I was such an excellent student that almost all my textbooks in secondary were prizes won.
When i got to jss 3, my parents started having issues and later separated and that was it!!!
I was brought back to daddy's base and became a day student. cry
I never repeated but I lost all brilliancy!!!.....Ohhh, i struggled to no avail!!! cry cry
When it was time to proceed to higher institution, I kept failing jamb for 8yrs though i went to a computer school for 1yr inbetween.
My mum later enrolled me for predegree but yet i failed!!!
So i decided to go for partime studies and runs my way out of the school cos i was already doing petty business.
I met my hubby (then boyfriend)wen i got to 200l and that was wen my life began to change positively bit by bit!!!
He encouraged me more and asked me to rewrite jamb with 3 private lesson teachers coming to teach me.
I passed and got into the university.
Hmmmmm.....I never knew partime studies is way different from full time o.........
I kept giving up from time to time but my hubby was a Godsent!!!!
Fatai (lecturer)made me cry so much one say during my 300l exams.
I was writing a paper wen he came towards me and was trying to go through my answer script but i refused and so he started to laugh saying " she is hidding her script o.......Anything u write self will still be zero!!!
He was saying it wen another lecturer walked in and he still proceeded and gave me mortal combat finishing!!!
He said and i quote " if Bukky is given Yoruba education, she will still fail!!!)
Aghhhhhh......my age mate at that!
The other lecturer just walked out and i cried like never before!!!!
After d exam, i went to the hod to report him, though my hod apologised on his behalf, I never spoke with him until i left school..
If i had continued with my brilliancy, by God's grace, i would have come out with a first class!!!
I graduated, went for service and moved on beautifully.
Sorry for the long post..
Do part-time students serve in the NYSC programme?
LiteraturePoem: African Time by Gentlebabs(op): 11:24pm On Oct 16, 2018
Poem: African Time

Time ain't money
Time is life
When you waste time
You waste life
Not money

Respect is reciprocal
Respect time
Luck will smile at you
When you do otherwise
Opportunities fly away

Once I missed a flight
Then poor and proud
I paid dearly from reserve
Which I could have saved
Time ain't money
Time is life

Time ain't money
Once it is lost
It's like a broken hymen
It can never be recovered
Because time is life

Master time management
Then you will be positioned
On a part to greatness
Like a Soldier of fortune
Who understands timing
Along enemy lines

There is no African time
Just foolishman's time
Stop justifying mediocrity
Instead of taking responsibility
That's why you are there

Show some respect
To time and management
Lest you miss opportunities
Destined to make you hammer
Then you blame village witch

"Sun, stand still upon Gibeon"
"And you, Moon, in the valley of Ayalon.'
That was 3224 years back
Joshua reversed nature
Until vengeance was wrought
Because he understood time

The sons of Isachaar
Masters of time management
Knew the best course
At any point in time
What wisdom is this?

Many have gone
Stop foolishman's time
In the school of success
Timing is core
Be advised

Stop procrastination
Practice delegation
None is an icon of knowledge
When empowered
Humans perform exploits

You complain over time
Yet you are nomophobic
I pity your condition
Married to your phones
Soap operas and sports
Yet you blame time

Avoid uneccesaries
Complete your task on time
Tell yourself the magic phrase
"Weldone, I am proud of me"
Reward yourself for timeliness

Lack of respect for timing
Made some marry strangers
Now married but single
They wished they could go back
But time lost cannot be regained

i have lost a lot
Practising African time
Foolishman's time
Don't be like me
Learn from my mistakes
And respect time

Ever wasted time?
Repeat after me
I repent of my sins
Now that I am born again
I am a new creature
I will respect time
Because time is life
LiteratureSay "No" To Rape by Gentlebabs(op): 4:39pm On Oct 16, 2018
Poem: Say "No" To Rape

For years we were incarcerated
We lived in prisons
Prisons of another's creation
The torment was huge
That shame of speaking up
The picture never left us

They slide in like a thief
Took away our dignity
Left us miserable and helpless
Yet their walk out streets
Oh "Yes", "There Was A Country"

The memory lingers
Try as we may
To come forth and share
That justice be served
For the fear of being ostracized
And being misunderstood
We held back

They blame my shorts
Where is their moral?
They question my claim
With the aim to dissuade
Suppressing our voice
They too share the shame

The sin will be visited
To their generation yet unborn
You are not alone
Men too get raped
I have been there
A near rape situation

What if I made moves?
Would you reject me?
What If I shouted?
Who would believe you?
The power of a woman
But not all men are weak

For a moment I died
Even though it passed
The memory lingers
Let's talk about sex
In schools and altars
That we may empower them
Our next generation
No means No
Not initial "Gra gra"

Let's teach them signals
That they may be wise
Astute at Interpreting signs
Paedophies are on the prowl
Rapists having a filled day
In a weak judicial system
Let us talk the talk

They will hear it anyway
Best it be from you
That's why you are a parent
Their teacher and mentor
Let's loud it
Like the gong aloud
In our village square

Sooner than we think
We will use their testicles
As burnt offerings to the gods
For this is a heinous crime
A crime against humanity

Wake up! Speak up! Brave up!
It is the first step
To a journey to freedom
Lest we continue to live
In a new prison
Of our our own creation
Say "No" to rape

PoliticsNigeria Decides - Towards 2019 Elections by Gentlebabs(op): 7:36pm On Oct 09, 2018
Come 2019, let your vote count. Be guided by your conscience. Do not deceived by speeches or divisive rhetorics, especially from the altar (Mosques/Churches). Analyze both parties and follow your mind.

Nigeria will be great again! If you are eligible and you do not have a PVC, then you do not have a moral right to criticize anyone because when you are part of the problem in the system. Elections are not won on social media, let your PVC do the talking.

Come 2019, think, be wise, make a choice, for the future of our generation. Truth is, I just realized everybody is a politician, just in different aspects.

If you care to know, the world, especially Africa is in wait, as to where the pendulum will swing in Nigeria. This directly affects other African countries, especially our west African neighbours. The world needs Nigeria to be stable and be at peace, as the economic, political and economic model for most African countries.

Have you traveled accross Africa and see how we are perceived as Nigerians? It comes with a soothing feeling of "My Big Brother Is Here". This often time humbles me , hence I know that i represent the most populous black Nation in the world and move with caution outside the shores of this Great Nation, lest I bring her name to be dis-repute.

My fellow citizens, how long will we be divided amongst religious, tribal and political lines? Tribesmen is a coinage of the slave masters to further identify us as non-entities and second class citizens. Apart from the Native Indians in America, have you ever heard the Americans say "We are from the same tribe? Or even the Brits. Why slander and kill ourselves for nought? Why?

I feel very sad when I hear statements like "My Imam/Pastor said we should/Should not vote for...". Clerics are Men of God, the good ones hear from God directly and communicate the message undiluted, these ones are called prophets, but they are not perfect; infallible or failure proof. I listen to Prophets, but often than not, God already tells me or visits me first, the HE confirms His words by the words of His Prophets, lest I fall prey to hungry people, dawning a toga of religion to decide the populace.

Remember, "The thing wey face you, na back he turn to another person". African proverb. Can you tell a man how to sleep with his wife? You can suggest, if he asks, but do not super-imposing your views on another. That is called manipulation, worse than the spirit of witchcraft. Manipulators are worse than infidels, they will not make heaven. If God affirms that infidels will not make heaven, what then happen to the one worse than infidels?

You have a right to vote and be voted for, as long as you are of a sound mind. Do not let politics destroy the relationship you have built with another over time. Just like 2015, this one too will come and go.

This coming election, "Paddle your canoe, make I paddle my own", because even inside a mosque, "All Malam to him kettle. If anyone begrudge you for taking a stand, that person is Is a fair - weather friend. You should be happy they are exposed.

Nigeria will be great again and the Labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain by God's grace.

Strategist.

N.B: Stop asking me who I want to vote for, it is non of your business. "Na so amebo dey start.

LiteratureBut She Trusted You by Gentlebabs(op): 7:48am On Oct 07, 2018
Dedicated To All Victims Of Rape, Especially Those Who Are Afraid To Speak Up And Those Who Lost Their Lives

Poem: But She Trusted You

She trusted you
You had intentions
Betrayed her trust
Got really close to her
She trusted you more

You asked her over
Like a lamb she obeyed
You called it tutorials
and choir practice
But she trusted you

You laid in wait
Like a terrorist
And shut the doors
She protested
Then it dawned on her
It was a trap
In a Lion's den

You had your way
Against her will
Took her pride
Yet she smiled
You thought she liked you

She trusted you
You poisoned her drink
She said "No"
She was vulnerable
You raped her
When "No" means "No"

What you didn't know
You created a beast
You signed your warrant
Yes, your death warrant
Like a Lioness she'll plan
Even if it takes years

Until she sends you to hell
Where you truly belong
She will not rest
Watch your back
The girl you raped
Will strike anytime

Then you'll be gone
Until your kind is vaporized
Paedophiles inclusive
From planet earth
For the Vultures lies in wait
To tear you like you tore her
But she trusted you!

LiteratureSay "No" To Rape And Prostitution by Gentlebabs(op): 6:46pm On Oct 06, 2018
Poem: Say "No" To Rape And Prostitution

Against her will
They took her pride
She cried to the gods
Until her tear glad emptied
But the gods were busy
Tending to other matters
As they were not Omni present

Again they came
Like a thief in the night
She struggled and cried
Got a broken wrist for resistance
But they had their way
Broke her hemen
And took her pride

When they came again
She wrestled not
For she was defenceless
Like a helpless Gazzele
She looked on
As they defiled her
This time, the upteenth

An angel came by
At least, she feigned it
Promised her heaven on earth
A life beyond the normal
A life of freedom and prosperity
Only if she embarked on the journey
A journey accross the mediteranian

What a world!
For the want of a life
She lost her life
She lost herself and her dignity
She travelled through Kano
Enroute Niger to Agadez
Sold into slavery
Abused by slave masters

Eventually she made the journey
She found herself in Lampedusa
Now she must survive
So she embraced the age long profession
Became a master of the game
Under the tutelage of her Madam
She laboured from below
Becoming enslaved forever

Who is to blame?
A failed society?
Moral decaydence?
Greed or ignorance?
Insufficient foreign aids?
Or the craze for materialism?
Just look in the mirror
The answer stares
Like an Eagle to a waterfowl

I know you hurt
Yes, you do!
Deep down you hurt
No excuse is excusable
To validate your escapades
Maybe the next
Bequeathes you a gift
That which has killed over a million
And still counting

Say "No" to rape and prostitution
Don't say i did not warn you
At least with my poem
Written straight from the heart
As a token of my love
For the benefit of man
And to the glory of the Creator

PoliticsBetween Tinubu And Ambode - The Final Straw by Gentlebabs(op): 1:35pm On Oct 02, 2018
PART 2 AMBO VS TINUBU

The 33 Strategies of War, is a book by Robert Greene which stands as a "Guide to the subtle social game of everyday life informed by the ...

military principles in war.". Greene, Robert,

"Do not proceed only out of pride. Stop before it gets worse."
Do you think Ambode's fight is for self or the people?

"Know your limits."
Some people engage in gambling and they win, they pump in more money, not knowing when to stop and end up loosing all.

"Use deception where you do not have the economic means to expand"
Ambode should not have used submission to disarm his distractors.

"Do not rely on technology and equipment, rely on your knowledge."
Do you think having served 4 years, Ambode has the political sagacity to withstand Jagaban, without whom the president today would not have been?

"Retreat to solidify troops and support."
When you see a goat retreat in a fight, in local parlance we can it "Gidigbo", it is not a sign of weakness, he does so to garner more powers.

"Frustrate the opponent by refusing to fight."
A bait was thrown at him in the person of Sanwo Olu, and he took it hook line and sinker when all other avenues for reconciliation has not been exhausted.

"Be aware of internal spies and disarm them."
Not everybody around Ambode are his friends, spies abound. How do you think one senate president was always able to predict the moves of the presidency and outsmart them eventually.

"Hide your observations."
Sometimes being vocal can be foolish as you expose your strategies to your enemies.

Make your opponent start the actual "fight".
What do you think about how Ambode attacked the personality of Sanwo Olu?

"Wars of self-interest are short and defined."
Is this APC war for the betterment of Lasgosians of self?

"Lure your opponent to attack to use guerrilla tactics effectively."
Submission is not stupidity, it can be an asset later

"When fighting allies create mistrust between them dividing their ranks."
Ambode has track records that can work for him, which he can use effectively, especially the civil servants.

"Be patient, time is your ally."
This is a flower that does not grow in any man's garden.

"Silence can say more than words."
How does your wife or girlfriend feel when they discuss with you and you do not respond?

"Befriend your opponent and work from within their mind".
Bringing them closer to know their next move

"Succumb to others, while covertly fighting"
Stoop to conquer.

Let me be quick to add that, i hate any form of godfatherism or the likes, but he Ambode benefited from the establishment. Even if the Presidency routs for Ambode, it is the delegates that will vote, not the presidency or "mere" wailers on social media.

After the Osun State rasmataz, who could ever think Ambode, who has endeared his name in the hearts of many Lagosians especially for his innovative projects and love for civil servants and eh citizens at large will outsmart a veteran in the game? But i like the whole twist, i expect some revelations and fraternizations in the coming days, especially as the opposition party now has a reason to believe they can win Lagos come 2019, taking advantage of the internal wranglings in the ruling party.

Regardless of your political affinity, let us come out and vote come 2019, it is our civic responsibility, which gives us a moral right to suggest and criticize as will be required.

Whereas an average Yoruba man is cunning and deceitful (my views), they still wear a toga of respect and unity of purpose.

PoliticsLaw 1: Never Outshine The Master, Between Ambode & Tinubu by Gentlebabs(op):
Album The 48 Laws of Power - Keys to Power
Robert Greene

Law 1: Never Outshine the Master
"Law 2: Never Forget Law Number 1"

...with those above you, however, you must take a different approach: when it comes to power, outshining the master is perhaps the worst mistake of all.

He may feign appreciation, but at his first opportunity he will replace you with someone less intelligent, less attractive, less threatening, just as Louis XIV replaced the sparkling Fouquet with the bland Colbert

Second, never imagine that because the master loves you, you can do anything you want. Entire books could be written about favorites who fell out of favor by taking their status for granted, for daring to outshine.

In all of these cases it is not a weakness to disguise your strenghs if in the end they lead to power. By letting others outshine you, you remain in control, instead of being the victim of their insecurity. This will all come in handy the day you decide to rise above your inferior status.

Poem: I Am Just A Fool

i know it's funny
but you laughed
and i was jealous
to me it was wack
mine never made you laugh
and he's not that funny

I dialed your cell
it said "Not reachable"
It was Girl's night out
what is she wearing?
is she having a drink?

Maybe a dance?
probably with a guy
is he asking for a number?
why am i insecure
could it be love?
or mere infactuation?

At the party
You flirted with him
Even said he looked nice
Never have you told me same
i became traumatised

You left your office
But brought it home
Oh! He is our favouite
he is so caring
His laugher is infectious
i felt emotionally blackmailed

We are just friends
story for the gods
how can he be your bestie
when you call me Honey
this is a misnomer

i guess i am obsessed
maybe i ate "Cobnomi"
that love portion
keeps you enchanted for life
even when you want out

why does she work late?
maybe she is having an affair
Bossy business trips
on first class tickets
i had better be wise

Maybe i am just a fool
hallucinatin over nothing
as niger turned saint
maybe it's karma
my sins finally found me
but i love my Baby

RomancePoem: God Told Me To Marry You by Gentlebabs(op): 8:11pm On Sep 29, 2018
Poem: God Told Me To Marry You

The first day we met
My words failed me
then i asked myself
where have you been?
Not just your beauty
Which iluminates my world
I craved also your love

I was weak and shy
for the loss of courage
laden with timidity
i picked up my cell
you were at the other end
Until you said "Hello!"

Are you there?
How is your day?
Have you eaten?
What are you wearing?
i could hear you smile
Yet, that got me shaky

What do u do?
I sleep for for a living
My liver failed me
What are u putting on?
The armor of God
What a savage response

when will you visit?
will you come to my crib?
what is your best colour?
Do you love Indian curls
oh! soemone help me
she is playing a mind game
her silence is golden

Do you like me?
Hello, can you hear me?
like a bullet ricochetting
You echoed with a dint of smile
What do you want from me?
I just want to be friends
maybe a little above platonic

We can be friends
but not as you want it
my heart beats for another
my day starts and ends with him
this broke my heart
But i was determined
to complete my misssion

Has he put a ring on it?
Does he discuss your careeer?
Has he introduced you to friends?
Does his mother know you?
Competition suddenly set it
and awakened the giant in me

For a moment
i was jealous
when you mentioned him
i felt like a spare tyre
while still soliloquizing
will she say "Yes"?

does he miss your absence?
do you know his next move?
are you a priority or an option?
does he call between work?
when you know you know
are you sure he is the one?

Ok, you know what?
Just one date
Oh my world!
she just gave a pass
who needs an hour?
to prove a point
to love till fade
are you a learner?

in the university of love
faculty of relationship
you will graduate summa cum laude
when you follow prnciples
especially by king Solomon
The wisest of all

until my day starts
and also ends with you
i will push and shove
Upon hills and mountains
'till you say "Yes"
I know i am the one
i just need you to see it
For God told me to marry you

"Sunset At Noon", Being A Poem Dedicated To All Who Have Lost a Loved One, Especially During Child Birth, Sickness or Accident)

Poem Title: SUNSET AT NOON

The nights lost its splendour
Glamour and fantasies
It no longer whispers
The way it does
When you lay by my side

The house became cold
It can never be the same again
Without you by side
To have and to hold

You are pricelessly priceless
Ireplaceably awesome
God's perfect creation
For me and me alone

A part of me is gone
The tears drop like rivers
Your memories fresh like dews
If only i had a choice...

You treated me like a son
Made my meals and our bed
Did my laundry as my mother
Yet my inestimable partner
My ever shinning star

I waited to hear the good news
We did our best brought joys
The addendum, we lost her
Broke the Camel's back
That day i died before i died

Why do bad things happen to good people?
And good things to bad people?
We prayed and fasted
But the Creator took His Creation
Who can battle with Him?

Although you left imprints
Children, siblings and loved ones
God's reward for our union
But none can take your place
Who then will be my playmate?

We planed and prayed
Laughed and cried together
We seemed inseperable
Until the unavoidable enemy emerged
Making your sun set at noon?

Imagine a week without food
A month without your cellphone
Imagine salad without mayonnaise
Then imagine existing without you
Lifeless and worthless

Your sweet cuddles at dawn
Is pleasure to my soul
When we lock lips and kiss
The freshness in your breathe
Reminds me of you

Whenever i close my eyes
All i see is you
After a telling while of absence
I still feel you around
This can only be love

Our love is rooted in friendship
It never dies, it never will
He who takes the body
But not the soul
Is the weaker one
My heart yearns for you

On your mark
Ready and set
You ran your race
Arrived your destination
Blazzed the trail with honours
And passed on the tourch

When we meet again
I shall tell you all
Who tried to take your place
But i locked the doors
With the keys in the ocean of love

Who says Adults do not tear?"
When you know you know
We are humans too
With blood running within
Above all, love makes us cry

God has taken you away
From the ills of the world
In good or bad times
Who can really question "Eledumare"
"For in all things; give thanks"

Poem Title: ASSURANCE

If you touch my love
I will charge at you
Chase you like a Cheetah
Hit you like a Rhinocerus
Dismember you like a Lioness
Until you hang on to life

In my claws you are inescapable
I will engage you in a death roll
As a Crocodile dances with a prey
Till your history is erased
From the surface of the earth
Like you never came

Be advised
Proceed with caution
For when the table turns
Forgiveness is a sin
I am a lethal predator
And shows no mercy
When you touch The One
That makes me complete

This is my ASSURANCE
To you "Ma Cheri koko"
Sealed with a kiss
From the armoury of Love
Je t'aime

Poem Title: Never Again

I crossed the line
When i laid with another
I swear down
It was the devil's handiwork
For a moment i felt vulnerable

In the hands of Delilah
I lost my sense of reasoning
And judgement due to infactuation
Enchanted by her curves
Mystified by her eyes
My vision was obfuscated

If Adam fell, who i am?
It was the devil's handiwork
Samson gave his password
Lost his ministry on Delilah's lap
Eventually he paid the supreme price

Even though you knew
You still loved me uneqivocally
While the smile fooled others
I saw the bruise in your heart
As you teared for love

Today, i remember my vows
Swear by the womb that bore me
Never again will i stray
Like a Sheep without a shepherd
All i ask is forgiveness
Laden with unconditional love

Ever been in a parade?
And the Commanding Officer says
Eyes right, forward match
My eyes are now single
Fixated only on my Jewel

Now that i am renewed
I want my Baby back
I am now a crossed check
Account payee only
Just like Romeo and Juliet
Together we shall be
Till death do us part

RomanceI Am Glad I Found You by Gentlebabs(op): 7:33pm On Sep 06, 2018
Poem Title: I Am Glad I Found You

It drizzled endlessly
Making it a weather for two
From the celestial
You came prepared
Like the droplets of rain
I almost missed the package
As i focused on the container
Instead of the content
Just like the pearl under the ocean
You are my greatest discovery
God's perfect creation
I am glad i found you
If only you say "Yes"
I will love you forever
Will you marry me?

Poem: People Of Oruakpo

I appeared contrarian
Though driven by curiosity
Like a child exploring his gifts
I was mystified
By the agelessness they exude

People of Oruakpo
Somewhere in Isiokolo
A generation of veterans
Longevity runs in their veins
I entered a state of stupefaction
But for a good course

Curiosity led the fly to the grave
I saw mysteries
This was a conundrum
A riddle i am poised to solve
And that i must
Before sunset at noonday

Her response was boisterous
As i echoed "Megwo"
Like a bullet ricocheting
"Vrendo" my son, she responded
The sight of her son
An illustrious son of the soil
Reminded her on the udje steppings
Like a new bride

Unaided she danced and swayed
What a beautiful scenery to behold
The joy of motherhood
Mama was five score and four
A whooping hundred and four years
As they made to catch up
An invitation was brought
The oldest man in the village passed
At the ripe age of six score and ten
Wait till i tell you

Mama's neighbourn, six score
The rural outliving the urban
Surely, in Delta State
Longevity runs in their ancestry
A lineage of naturals

Processed foods were taboos
Unlike their urban comrades
Gulping every fast food
Negating the negatives
In Oruakpo, everyone is a farmer
With at least a vegetation

They understood Genesis 1 verse 11
As uncertificated herberlists
The leafs "Digwe" for them
But for serious medical exigencies
They rarely visit the orthodox

Give them shekels today
You will find it in their "Umuama"
A local bank in their house
They prefer local to broilers
Everything is by nature
In that village
It is a breathe of fresh air

In our cities
A fifty year old is already "Figiti"
Why not retire and go home
A home of peace and longevity
After 35 years of service
You don't have a country home
What a shame with lost identity

In our villages, especially Oruakpo
Retirement starts at five score
My dear friend
One day, you will retire
Have you started planning?
Where is your retirement home?
Enough of procrastination
Now is the time

As for i and i
Isiokolo is the way to go
With one village wife
Integration should be easy
You too can live long
Go a little behind time

CrimeSay No To Jungle Justice by Gentlebabs(op): 12:39pm On Aug 29, 2018
SAY NO TO JUNGLE JUSTICE

Poem Title: Goodbye Sussy

Goodbye Sussy
Take care Honey
Can't wait to get back
Hugs and kisses
Goodbye Daddy

My family, my world
Without whom i am incomplete
They depend on my salary
I cannot let them down

Looking for daily bread
Didn't know i wlll fall victim
A victim of a failed society
I told them i didn't do it
But nobody listened

As they robbed that shop
Made away on their bike
It happened quickly
I made to console
But was taken for the suspect

I made to explain
Nobody listened
My faith was decided
With stones and sticks
My head was punchured
Till blood gushed freely

I begged for life
But they ignore my plea
"I get fuel, i get tire"
My family, what happens to them
Weak and drained
My life flashed before me

"Kill am, kill am"
But i was innocent
A victim of jungle justice
My phone rang
It was my Sussy
But it was too late

When i heard the siren
I had a flicker of hope
The law enforcers were in view
They moved to intervene
But were aggresively restrained
For they would be mobbed

Oh lord! Forgive them
Please protect my family
In this wicked world
My people have killed me
The same people i made to protect

Thank you Babs.
You forced insurance on me
Though i was a hard sell
Your words echoed
Good things happen to bad people
Bad things happen to good people

It is better to have insurance and not need it
Than need it and not have it
But for the Twenty Million endowment
My Baby's future will be bleak
Please ensure they get it

As i take my last breathe
A final exit from planet earth
Death is a necessary end
It will come when it will come
But jungle justice is a "No No"
Let love lead...

RomanceWill You Marry Me by Gentlebabs(op): 10:49pm On Aug 28, 2018
Make That Proposal Creative, Do It Poetically

Poem Title: Will You Marry Me?

Growing up
The beach was our favourite
Running around sandy beaches
Throwing caution to the winds
Parents poised as guards
We threw pebbles around
Climbed beautiful Horses

Built castles with sands
Castles soon washed away
By raging waves
Their sound music to our eyes
All i ask is a chance
To be that wave
That washes you off your feet

You are the "Dawadawa" in my "Efo riro"
The "Utazi" in my "Ofe Nsala"
I really want to do this
Can't imagine a life without you
There will be storms Sweety
Every Ship faces storms
Every boat gets rocked
Every Airplane encounters turbulence

But in these storms
Lies our strenght
That keeps us stronger
Just say "Yes"
And i will bring you the moon
That we may solemnize our union
Tie our love in Paris
The certified city of lovers
With chains of gold
Throw the keys away
In the bottomless sea
Under the moonlight
And the glowing stars

I have travelled to the north
South, west and east
I coudn't find any
Beautifully endowed like you
You Sweety are the one
The air that i breathe
The missing piece of my puzzle
Just say "Yes"
I will tell the whole world
My search ends here
"Will you marry me?"

FamilyJudge Them Not by Gentlebabs(op): 7:01pm On Aug 27, 2018
(Dedicated To All Single Parents)

Poem Title: Judge Them not

Yes i am a single parent
What about it?
Does it make you better than me?
Even as a single parent
I have seen it all
Single parents raise smart kids too

I learnt to take responsibility
The aftermath of impatience
I wish i listened to Mummy
Especially when Daddy echoed it
But the deed was done
Now i am a single parent

He said he loves me
Reached out in love
Took my precious jewel
A gift for the only true one
Young and naive
I caved in
Now i am a single Mum

My bestie got entangled
With a diamond plaited ornament
I wished it was me
I envied her union
Then Prince charming came
Went out faster than he came
Now i am a single Mum

In the line of duty
Defending the defenceless
A nation of insurrections
Between enemy lines
Like lightening the bullet struck
My Gallant officer fell
And now, i am a single parent

Behind his charm
Laced with infectious smiles
And sweet nonsense
Was a monster
Worthy only of castration
Holds a degree in domestic violence
I had to walk away
That i may live again
To tell her story

You can't marry my son
You this "Ofe Mmanu"
If you marry "Aje okuta ma mu omi"
I will divorce you
Even if you are pregnant
My religion forbides our union
But you slept with her
Put her through several abortions
But this stuck
God is watching

The pendulum has swung
Women gaining more economic power
A power than needs control
I just need a child
Can't give one losser the reigns
If only i can bait him
Just to be his baby Mama
Who really needs a man?
But from the beginning
It was not so

He walked away forever
After he survived poisoning
And a scar from his co-pilot
Because he loved her
He walked away
Not because he was weak
At least he escaped the walls
The prison walls of Kirikiri

Single parenting?
A blessing
Or a curse?
Until you open your heart
Listen to them with empathy
You never know how strong they are
The secret tears
How they manage desires
What a way to live

If you know a single parent
Either by choice, divorce or death
Judge them not
Show some respect
Show some love
Because nothing last forever
At some point in our journey
We will all be single

If you know a single parent
Take their children out
Be a coach and a mentor
Fill the void without benefits
Because their God is watching
Those Babes with big God
And Dads with big hearts
That is true essence of living

Lest i forget
A single Mum raised Barrack Obama
Dr. Ben Carson was also raised thus
Even if a single Dad raised me
He taught me values
Respect and tolerance
Above all, he taught me love
And "Yes"
Single parents can raise good kids

EducationI Ran Your Race by Gentlebabs(op): 4:33am On Aug 26, 2018
Poem Title: I Ran Your Race

My father; my hero
My mother; my Angel
My Guardian my friend
For your centuries of support
Thank you

For centuries of love
Self denial and support
That i be educated
In a crazilly literate world
And be liberated from oppression
Thank you

For years
I ran your race
Successfully with laurels
Thought to make you proud
Especially amongst your friends
That you be proud
But within, unfufilment brewed

I 'A'ced my courses
Accolades poured on you
As parents of the best student"
Even though it earned me a place
As a valedictarian
I was dead within

Crowded in the hall
Many saw the smiles
The media went frenzy
An academia was born
But behind the smile
Lies a lonely soul
For i was dead within

You never asked who i was
Never exploited my gifts
The reason God created me
You turned me to a machine
"La cram", "La pour"
Then with honours i graduated

I love you Dad
I adore you Mum
For programing my life
That you may be happy
I hated you with passion
I loved you, then i hated you

Tired of the statusquo
My best friend too is
Victims of circumstamces
We made to satisfy you
That we may embark
On a journey to self discovery
And truly find fulfilment

As i make to receive my scroll
It is a gift i owe you
Receive it in peace and joy
That i may be free
Free to pursue my course
And take responsibility therefrom

The scales are fallen
Awash with sea salt
Surely i will fail
But in failure i will learn
It is a condiment for success
For surely
Every balloon can fly
If we can just try

My son is a Doctor
My daughter is a Lawyer
I want you to be a Pilot
She will make a great Accountant
The Porters plan you distorted
But HE awaits you
Your time in judgement you'll have
For every was created for a purpose

On the part of self-discovery
Many destinies are tired to mine
Therefore i must manifest
On land the Cheetah reigns
The Sailfish dominates the sea
While the Eagle rules the sky
Each operating in their timezone and space

If you are in my shoes
You have a voiceless voice
Don't worry
Your time will come
Even if they pretend all is well
Play the fool and breast the tape
It will all end in praise

This torment is but for a while
Then you can gift it to them
Your certificates and laurels
Only then can follow your path
Like a Bird iniquitously caged
And fly to the sky
Where creativity and talent reigns supreme
