A Poem: Let Me Worship In Your Altar Time is a commodity Short in supply I can't wait anylonger That's why I want to worship In your sacred altar But where do I start from? The road looks narrow As I journey through the aisle Marching towards the prize That we may mingle and rumble In an atmosphere of bliss Worshiping in harmony You smiled back saying If you really want to worship Put a ring on it That I be yours and you be mine A risk I am willing to take Till death do us part If that's all it takes I will travel all the way Walk through the seven seas For in you, I find me The bone of my bone Put a ring on it That we may workship forever And happily ever after Babatunde Raimi Author/Life Coach/Poet |

Let us attempt to demystify some of the mysteries surrounding the contributory pension scheme which came on board by an act to repeal the pension act No. 2, 2004 and enact the pension reform act 2014, which made provision for a uniform contributory pension scheme for public and private sectors in Nigeria; and for related matters on the 1st day of July, 2014. Majorly, the Defined Benefits Scheme (The old pension scheme) witnessed so many challenges, one of which was the fact that it was unfunded and solely budget based. This gave way to the Contributory Pension System (The new pension system), which is funded by the employer (Minimum 10%) and the employee (8%) in line with the pension law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as enshrined in Section 4(1) of the PRA as amended 2014. The new scheme was too make way for a more effective, efficient and quick pension payment; fifteen years down the line, where are we? Without much ado, it is pertinent to look at some of the provisions of the PRA 2014 (As amended) so as to be able to match the with your rights, duties and obligations. Section 7 of the PRA explains how you can access your terminal benefits. Section 7(1a) defines the limits of the lump sum you are entitled to, while the Programmed Withdrawal option, offered by the Pension Fund Administrators is embedded in Section 7(1b) The Annuity for life option, which can be purchased from life insurance companies is captured in Section 7(1c). But note that this is subject to you attaining age 50 or upon your retirement. When you juxtapose Section 7 of the PRA with the Regulations for the Administration of Retirement and Terminal Benefits, Article 1.2.8 which says “A PFA shall advise a retiring employee of the features of its programmed withdrawal products, including the rates of return, and shall also advise the employee to obtain quotations from the insurance companies on annuity products”, you will realize that the Federal Government have good plans. They do not want you to make a decision without being exposed to options, so that your judgment can be sound, to a large extent. If you take it down to Article 1.2.9 of the same regulation, it says “A PFA shall not impose any option on the retiring employee or coerce…” The key word there is “coerce”. Which translated means “Persuade (an unwilling person) to do something by using force or threats.” By extension, be it the PFA or Insurance companies or their representatives, it is unethical and against internationally acceptable best practices in service delivery and excellence to play on the ignorance of employees who have labored all their life to serve their nation and companies to shield them from basic information that helps them make life long decisions. However, as a contributor, if you feel dissatisfied or confused, please visit any PenCom zonal offices around you for clarification. Let us look at a situation where an employee dies in active service. Under the CPS, there is a life insurance maintained under Section 4(5) of the PRA, where the beneficiaries of the deceased contributor are entitled to the life insurance benefits under Section 57 of the Insurance Act. Please note that terms and conditions apply which is clearly stated in Section 8(2) of the PRA. I want us to carefully read through this next lines. Do you know that Section 11(3a) mandates your employers to deduct at source your contribution and remit same not later than (7) days from when your salary is paid to the Pension Fund Custodian who warehouses the funds for your Pension Fund Administrator? It is when your PFA is notified by your PFC that they send you an acknowledgement text message or email as the case maybe. So, my question is, where you do not receive a text message or email acknowledgement, can we just safely assume that the money has been remitted but you are just yet to be notified? Let me leave you to answer this question while I close with Section 11(6) and I quote “An employer who fails to deduct or remit the contributions within the time stipulated in sub-section (3b) of this section shall, in addition to making remittance already due, be liable to a penalty to be stipulated by the Commission”. So, you see, like Bishop Oyedepo usually says “A closed mouth is a closed destiny”. Understanding the workings of the PRA is the first step towards maximizing the scheme and avoiding pension and retirement pitfalls, trust me they are innumerable. Please understand that pension and retirement sensitization awareness should be a core in the fabric of our organization, ministry, department, agency, military or para-military formation. It is a disservice to think your employees only deserves this awareness few years to retirement. Retirement sensitization and planning should start from your first income or first day at work, not a few years to retirement. I feel duty bound to educate you, within the confines of the law, the same way I have travelled across Nigeria preaching the same gospel. Just that you know, retirement planning is for all even if you are self employed because one day either by retirement, resignation of retrenchment, you will be out of service but on what? Perhaps you are self employed, you will not work forever, so it is good to start understanding the how and start planting your cocoa now and reduce the focus on tomatoes. It is a wise person that keeps the pot of water filled during the “Now” rainy season against the dry season. Till I come your way again with more lucid interpretation of the Pension Reform Act, that you may decide if it is a blessing or a curse, thank you for reading. The Single Mother... When you are a Single Mother, your life is defined by lines: fine lines,' Class lines, Boundary lines, Career lines, Motherhood lines: the tightrope line between being a good woman and a Mistress. That moment when the lines blurr and a good woman had to decide whether to toe the line, cross the line, or stay safe behind the lines that guards her virtue. And you know that you have pole vaulted over that line when you allow a married Man get closer... Most times, Single Mothers are seen as a ''Loose Canyon or loose ball" or in simple words: ''A Loose Woman'' one who is 'available' and so randy Men wanna try their luck with you...and mostly 'Married Men''. They easily perceive your needs and try to entice you with Cars, Houses and whatever they can offer. They offer you sex because they know the pressures on your 'LIBIDO'...They take advantage of your lonely and Hot moments. They place you on a very high scale in life and ride your 'LIPS' until its as wide as the Sea and then....off they go!...to another lonely Single Mother. It's a cycle that never breaks and for each time you cross that line, you do not realise you are headed towards a phase of depression Life becomes meaningless when they leave. You become a slave to sex and money and gradually loose your virtues. This has to STOP! It's about time Single Mothers say No to being used as Sexual alternatives to married Men! Say NO to SEX with a Married Man. Call off their BLUFF...! Ask them to loose your number and House Address. Now...your Baby Father is no exception. If he is married, don't let him down there again! He has chosen his PATH and so let him live with his decisions. Don't let him ''eat his cake and have it'' with you. I know its not easy...especially when you have nothing and you have got Children to feed. I understand those lonely nights when all you need is to wrap your thighs with a MAN. I pity for those who get married and their husband is based abroad. To the husbands, is your car not parked at owner's risk? You just made her married but single. I understand the days when you have nothing to pay your Children's fees. I understand it all but the solution to your problems does not lie 'On the genitals of a Married Man'...The solution to your challenges lies with GOD. You need to trust God and believe he will change your story. Give God a chance to show you why he brought you this far....why he gave you those children; why he hasn't allowed the devil to take your life...Please STOP these MEN before they ruin your life. And that is why Single Mothers must help themselves. Look out for a weak single mother around you and help her...become a part of her success story. Share a date, a night out or a word...bond, love and keep sharing. Leave all these "Zaddy's with benefits" if they don't intend to walk the walk. Take advantage of life's curve balls and allow it to transform you to a very pretty and attractive LIONESS who turns for no other; who bows to no MARRIED MAN; Whose TITS & LIPS are not available for irresponsible sexual adventures. Yes! They will come looking for your juice as a Single Mother, be careful. Be a Lioness, FIERCE that can BITE! And so all you married Women whom God has blessed with a husband and all you do for that Man is make him regret the day he married you. Be careful!!! as there are more Women than Men in this world and every woman needs a Man. So, If you push your husband outside...be rest assured that there are women out there who would accept him and love him scatter "sef", especially as we have so many "WOBE Children" out there sleeping with their ANCESTORS. Before he married you, younspaz out with excess flirtatious energy for him. You were those seductive bum shots, semd his nastily nice messages that makes him run back home. Now that he has put a ring on it, you no longer care. You tie wrapper like my grandmother. Be wise as a serpent. REPENT. So, get off your high horse and show that man why he married you in the first place before another woman shows him why he shouldn't be with you. My apologies to Married Men but the truth must be said! No more SEX with a Married Man as a Single Mother. If he wants in, let him put a ring on it. Single motherhood is not a curse. Nobody has a right to you, so don't de-value yourself. Truth is... 'A good man will never ask you for sex even if he wants to help. When you exchange sex for material gifts you are not better than a prostitute. This rule applies to both sexes. There are still good Men out there...May God bring them your way. A Toast to all Single Mommas! #You are better than they think #You are stronger than them #You will get through life and its curve balls #You can raise responsible and good children #You shall fulfil our destiny #You shall emerge winners in the end #God has got your back #Excerpts from "Single Mothers by Babatunde Raimi) Please share this post on your wall and social media handles, until all Single Mama reads it. "Ojo n ro" "Se re ninu ile" As HE opened the windows of heaven To pour us showers It took me to memory lane Dancing and playing in the rain With multi-coloured and patched knickers Those days were awesome When boys were boys The girls engaged in "Tente" and "Suwe" Sometimes we played Mummy and Daddy We retired to the nearest house To recharge with a plate of "Eba" Then we had houses without walls My mother was your mother My father your father Now, you are wearing a smile Walk with me through memory lane The evenings were for adults As they enjoyed "Behind The Cloud" Village Headmaster was their favourite Theatrically, Chief Elehinmi was dexterous Not forgetting The New Masquerade Zebrudaya and Ovuleria were a case Clarus and Giringory played the clown While Jegede Shokoya ices the cake Those times were precious Memorable and fun-filed If you missed "Things Fall Apart" You have missed our past Written by Africa's finest literary icon A story that chronicles our culture Long before colonial distruptions Thank you Chinua Achebe How could Okonkwo sacrifice Ikemefuna Why did HE not provide a lamb? As HE did in the place of Joseph Does the innocent have to die For the good of the entire land I pen this piece because i am sad Desirous to lead a good centred life Old fashioned behind time Maybe it will help connect the dots As to why love is lost Born close to four decades ago? You sure should feel the pain in my heart Then we leanrt moral instructions Our history was a core in our curriculum We upheld our religious tenents We stood up for elders in "Molue" We prostrated as a sign of obeisance We used slates and not pads We did arithmetic without calculators We preached peace and not division Divorce was not an option Suicidal instincts were non-existent Today, the story is changed Because we forgot history The bedrock of our future We silenced Biafra Tranquilized the struggles of heroes past What are we afraid of? Fear of the unknown? Harboured by the selfish twenty percent Lording over helpless eighty percent But wait! We are close to the wall Just like Hezekiah was And his prayers were answered A new Army is rising We will not go conventional For a pen is mightier than the sword We will crusade our cause And if it takes our life We would die as Martyrs Martyrs against nepotism Corruption and self aggrandizement With or voice we will engage Engaging in line with acceptable standards As the rain falls Should it not bring goodness? In a continent flowing with opportunities Instead it grows thorns My people have been subjugated Conquered and oppressed Repressed and intimidated But not anymore Join me in this crusade Vote out corruption Stamp out poverty on our continent Give our generation a voice All you need is to stand right And the next person stands right That others see you and stand right Only then can we reclaim Africa It may cost you your valuable It could lead to your transition But watch and do nothing And see how our generation is wiped out If you feign indifference You are a part of the problem We will not wait for history We will rewrite it That our legacies lives forever I miss the good old days When integrity and excellence were core I miss yesterday I miss tales by moonlight Each time i remember my father A just and upright man Who died for a cause he believed in He reminds me of who i am The time is now The batton is passed Let us reclaim Africa That our glorious future Be not determined by charlatans Babatunde Raimi (c) |
You wanted me out You wanted me to stand down When I really wanted to stand up I know your mind is made up I might be poor and proud As you always deemed me But with every iota of pride in me I will not beg for love You have moved on my dear So have I in grace and style I am not coming back as always You have drawn the last straw Shattered every wall we built Erased every moment we shared I will just sit back on a rocky chair And pretend you never existed It might take time my dear But I will hang on and be strong If truly you are not coming back It means we were never meant to be Sincerely I appreciate the times we shared Including the true lies and Greek gifts Even though you promised heaven on earth Now I see a big scumbag in you At short notice I was available Amidst tight schedules and constraints Especially when you want to browse I allowed you access without a fight Even when I feel closing shop was best I gave my everything until my all And all I get is a heartbreak "We can be friends, but not as you want it" Though it was implied but I get it I built my world around you Feigned off contenders for my love turned foe And suddenly i am not your kind Your parents suddenly don't like me I suddenly don't fit into your over blotted social and educational class I tied our love with a strong roap But now I am loosing it; my sanity Despite overwhelming reasons I trusted and supported you My parents and friends warned me But I was blinded by infatuation I lost my sense of reasoning and judgement Due to what I thought was love If only life was a real pencil I will erase and righten all my wrongs Right now I know you are locked together What are they even doing? Maybe kissing and touching Are they touching the way we do? Are you really telling her 'that' you told me? Is she responding the way I do Oh Lord help me! I am lost emotionally I refuse to be depressed For surely, this too will pass Oh "Yes", it shall pass But I still love you Baby Even though you bailed on me I still want you back Maybe I should say sorry I can't live without you If loving you was a crime I would rather be imprisoned in your world But this is not making sense I think I am delusional On the parade ground of love At the shout of about turn You never look back I must be strong as a Lioness If you gave another our ring Then it was never mine But I pray that one day Karma will visit you accordingly But then it will be too late And I will be happy again This time, with another, "The One" And live happily ever after Babatunde Raimi Author/Life Coach/Poet |

Alone in the sands The fields was yellow It lost its greenery What could have happened? Make haste, get the soothsayers Even the palms They swayed not Not that the beauty was lost But in their dance Lies that Sweet sound I could see the cloud Far from thence This mystery we must solve A puzzle we must demystify As the pride passed by The King followed behind Abomination! A Lion King leads from the front Whatever caused this blackness Surely permeated his kingdom His pride was hurt Let's call the wise one Suggested the Mice For the King speaketh not Like a sprinter he arrived The wise old Tortoise Only him has the answer He conjured; poured wine That their king may live He made several atonements To the lords of the night Then his offering was accepted The secrets were revealed I have seen him fight But today, it is not by strength He has lost his Queen The Queen of his heart Who can atone the Lion King None! And just suddenly Her heart belongs to another But how can he fight When he is disadvantaged How can he fight When he is seen as a weakling He had lost his pride Where do we go from here? The wise one said Like a well rehearsed song All chanted in solidarity Forward! Fall eight times, rise the night And so it happened The pride of the King Has just fallen for another None can appease him But in him lies greatness For surely, he will rise again And who knows, just maybe He will find love again It never happened before But the Lion King cried Who will clean his tears? Who? Babatunde Raimi (c) |
Truth, this one can swallow human being. It was killed in Covenant University farm yesterday. They were actually two; this time stupidly attacked a tractor that was clearing a bush part, while the other ran away. Funnily, the tractor driver ran away, when it attempted to recoil on his leg. It took the bravely of his fellow worker, this Hausa Guy to skillfully kill the Snake and they later settled in for a plate of pepper soup.

Don't Wait For Me Life with you, a treasure Moments shared, golden When you said "Yes" My heavens opened This is for a good reason You are my good luck charm Rolling with you, I learnt patience The good times taught me gratitude The sad times taight me experience Even when I laid with another You forgave in advance How can I pay you back We named our kids Visualised our homes Together, we painted the future You sacrificed everything for me Because i was your King You gave me hope When life's cruelties overwhelmed me Wrapped me in your chest With the tingling sensation of your breast And told me "It will be well" But don't wait for me We were young and naive For years we planned Everyone envied us We painted the city blue and white For once, we never held back But don't wait for me In this journey called "I Do" Where death is the terminus I suddenly realised We can't play the sentimental card Except we desire a lifetime endurance So, please, don't wait for me I guess you understand now I just want us to be happy For the rest of our lives I know you will hurt But you will also heal And later appreciate our choice You are not an enemy Never will I erase your memory Neither am I the heartless one Indecision is a decision not to decide So, I have decided to move on Hoping you will not be my greatest regret Sincerely, I still love you But I guess this is where the road ends For the years we have wasted The promises left unkept Dreams left unfulfilled Cast the blame on me If I say "Don't wait for me" It is for a good reason That you may fly like a bird And meet the vessel HE prepared for you For there is a man for every woman And a woman for every man I pen this with a bleeding heart For somewhere in my heart You have a very special place And you will always be my jewel Even if we are not together Please, move on, the future is brighter Let me tell you a secret Please don't tell no one Men cry too, yes we do And it's okay to cry, at times like this Especially when it hurts But we got to be the man Sad the darts life throws at us That of happiness, that of sadness As I put a closure to this I pray you find peace And everything you ever wanted But please, don't wait for me |

A Poem: If I Died Yesterday Wait! Listen to me Before you tighten the noose Overdose or result to poisoning Hear what I have to say I feel your pain Because I have been there The desire to end it all But suicide is not an option I too have been pained Deceived by blood Cheated upon yester years Suffered depression also But here I am Still standing strong Twice I wanted out Trust me, I did too It seemed the hard way And the only way But in the end This Guy survived Yes, I survived Five times I wrote JAMB Four but one I failed But I hadn't a godfather It eluded me like a vapour Depressed and lonely I wanted out But still I am here It's not with it Bro. Don't do it! Why not allow him go Sis. If he hurts you often It is a red flag Love will come again And you will be happy again You are a shining star Work in your timeline Very soon you will fly For every Balloon can fly Don't give up on yourself You got a cheer leader in me So, suicide is not an option In you, songs yet unsung Books yet unwritten Stories yet untold Empires yet uncreated Together we can Bro. Let's tell our story of struggles Triumph of faith over fear Who can stop the moon Tell me who can stop the sun Even the star shines brightest in the dark In your dark moments Lies a ray of hope Please hang on Don't give up on yourself Suicide is not an option You are the real deal Billions competed for one egg Yours made it to the ovary You are a born survivor God's greatest creation HE has got your back Don't bail on HIM now If I died yesterday You won't be reading this Today, I am shining light A torch bearer And a revelation to my generation It's time to wake up And brace up Because suicide is not an option Babatunde Raimi Author/Life Coach/Poet

Topic: MAXIMIZING PROFIT IN SNAIL FARMING, Ese Temisan Ikponmwonba CEO, SHELL CROP FARMS. I created this platform because of those of us who intend to go into Snail farming. It is actually not as stressful as other livestock farming and it is very profitable. The question from almost 99% from us all is how much will I make from it ![]() ?!Even thou I think money should not be the bottom line because it limits you eventually but you know that is just my thinking. I am sure we all have an idea of what profitability is! The basic meaning at least for most of us to understand is the extra money left after all cost have been deducted from income or sales.....Cost is you expenses ie everything the business cost you....Income is monies you get from the sales of your product. In Snail farming we have both fixed and variable cost. Our fixed cost is basically the Cost of structure or building/housing which we will depreciate over time. Others are variable or direct cost. They are salaries for workmen, feeding, cost of initial stock and farm accessories. So I shall use a pen for this case study discussions so we can understand it.... What a pen looks like. So for a pen startup we will have a stock of pols numbered 120. 120 snails in one pen. Our cost for 120 pols is 30,000. Labour cost for 120 snails is 1,200 @ a rate of 15k to 1500 pieces of snails Monthly. Feeding will cost 600 monthly @ a rate of 7k5 to 1500 pieces of snails This pen will roughly cost 30k which we will spread across say 5years. Which will give us 500 naira monthly. Farm accessories might as well be say 5k which I fink is on the high side though, but for this sake we will use #5,000 and this cost is one off. So our total cost for the first month of farming will be labour which is #1,200 plus feeding #600naira plus accessories #5,000 plus depreciation of the pen cost #500 naira and the cost of the snails #30,000 So we have a total cost of #37,300 for the first month. These pols are usually about 4-6months old.... but for this class we will use the lower boundary which is 4months.... So at month 4 our total cost is #37,300. A laborer can care for 1500 pieces of snails alone...... Caring for 120 snails will cost #1,200 monthly But most times it’s even no cost because it’s the owner who does the caring. This is a breakdown of how much it will cost for you to care for 120 snails monthly when calculating your profitability. We are using a pen as a case study... cost of constructing one is #3,000 which you will depreciate over time. Let us consider a mortality rate of 0.16 which will leave us at 100 snails in the pen. But this happens if proper care and attention is not given to the snails once you can get very healthy snails to start with them you should have a smooth sail... Standard for Accounting purpose... We use it for projections... So for the first month on the farm our cost is #37,300. Snails are 4months old also pls note. I need to break it down so everyone can be carried along sorry.... i feel fulfilled that way.... Month 2 on the farm, snails 5 months old: Feeding 600+ labour 1,200 +Rent 500 =2300 Month 3 on the farm, Snails 6months old: Feeding 600+ labour 1,200 + Rent 500 =2300 Month 4 on the farm, Snails are 7 months old: Feeding 700 + labour 1,200 + Rent 500 = 2,400 At this month the snails have started laying we will use a standard of 4 per snails keeping hatchability in mind and a mortality rate of 0.16 so we have 100 snails left. This will give us 400 hatchlings. Month 5 on the farm, snails are 8 months old: Feeding 1,000 + labour 1,200 + Rent 500 = 2,700. Month 6 on the farm, snails are 9 months old: Feeding 1,000 + labour 1,200 + Rent 500 = 2,700 Month 7 on the farm, snails are 10 months old: Feeding 1,200+ labour 1,200 + Rent 500= 2,900 At this month we use a standard of 5 hatchlings per snail giving is a total of 500 hatchlings Month 8 on the farm snails are 11 months old : Feeding 1,500 + labour 1,200 + Rent 500= 3,200 Month 9 on the farm snails are 12 months old: Feeding 1,500 + labour 1,200 + Rent 500= 3,200 At this stage you can decide to start selling off your initial stock, your hatchlings at month 4 on the farm because they will be about 7-8 months old then and your hatchlings at month 7 also .... Our total sales will be the 100 initial stock which we can sell for as high as #17,000 for 20 pieces or as low as #15,000 for 20 pieces but for this purpose we will use the lower boundary which is #15,000 100 pieces @ #15,000 for 20 = #75,000 [The hatchlings from month4 selling at #9,000 for 20 pieces we have 180,000 The hatchling at month 7: at #200 naira per piece will give 100,000 So our total sales for 100 pieces of snails will be #255,000. Less our total cost of #59,000. Gives us 196,000, which is over 300% profit.... I hope we have been able to grasp it all. Yes but that’s not part of his class but your profitability can sky rocket with the by products also.... all parts of the snails is monetized from shells to intestines to extract. The beauty about snail farming is you can sell at any month. I have not seen one farmer that can meet demand and demand is high. You can also be strategic and do much more; a lot to be archived. Poem: Goodnight Ochanya What a wicked world Where the poor get oppressed Justice, where is thy sting? Oh Ochanya, where are thou? Why did God allow it Why, God why? After years of torment Breast yet unformed Defiled and tormented Her soul cried for freedom But she bowed to threats The the worst happened Her sun set at noonday What a way to take a bow And the perpetrators What happens to them? Where is the God of thunder? The God of instant judgement? We invoke death unto them? That they may die Before they die? And be made a public spectacle No means "No" Yes, the hour has come To liberate every Ochanya It's time to speak up Their days are numbered When a Buffallo sets out Meets a pride of Lion The game is over If your ward suddenly recoils Avoids people like plague Start asking questions There might be a paedophile Lurking somewhere within To all rapists and paedophiles Your time is up Forgiveness you will get if you ask your Creator But our job as advocates Is to arrange the meeting Within legal confines Armed with our voices and pen Till you are vaporized Erased from planet earth Like you never came Goodnight Ochanya But this just a beginning The walk for rape is real The cry for justice is intensified We will work our talk Until every Ochanya is free From the hands of terrorists Rapists and paedophiles The game has just begun...
