Matter of factly, we are in hard times now. Facing economic challenges, orchestrated by our over-dependence on oil and our inability to plan properly by projecting into the future financially. Surprisingly, we have a generation that tends to conform with tradition, comfortable in their comfort zones. Despite these desperate times, that deserves desperate solutions, we have refused to learn from the mistakes of yester-years. We have refused to learn from the misdeeds of previous generations. Surviving this harsh times requires us thinking outside the box. No matter how depressed the economy will be, man will always need food, shelter and clothing. The basic necessities of life are a must, if you must live to tell the story of the Nigeria that we all desire. Recession brings redistribution of wealth, naturally. Truth is, times of recessions is usually a good time to raise a new generation of Millionaires. There is always a good in every bad, your duty is to see it and see it first. My advise, sit back, think on paper, what problems exist around you that you can solve by commercialising. We have so many guys into hairdressing now because, women will always desire to look beautiful, maybe above so many other things. Some ladies even prefer their hair done by a guy, believing that he should know how to do the settings-and-resettings from a masculine perspective, making it beautifully beautiful. Secondly, recently, there was scarcity of Tomatoes in Nigeria. During these period, Nigerians started inventing soups that does not necessarily need tomatoes like “Egusi”, “Okro”, “Oha”, “Ogbono” et al. The likes of Coconut rice graced our dining tables, but did this still remove the desire for a “Pepper feel” that tomatoes and “Tatashe” offers. The South Westerners are known to like so much Pepper in their soups, they were not getting maximum utility from these “Ebola” that plagued our tomatoes. During that period, I even heard 3 pieces tomatoes sold for about #500 (Five Hundred Naira). I used Tomatoes as an example to prove to you that, our generation needs a new generation of farmers, who will embrace farming, like the Cocoa Millionaires of yesteryear. I think we still have a couple of them around, that aspiring farmers can learn from. Modern technologies are now available to produce crops in and out of season, so as to ensure continuity in supplies. Partnerships can also be sought with companies to ensure these crops are well preserved so as to avoid wastage and loss on the part of the farmer. I am not unaware that preservation is a major factor that farmers have to handle every other time, but if we ask questions, I am sure we can get help from experienced local and international farmers, Agricultural Research Institutes like (IITA) and the likes. So many Ph.D. holders are now going into farming, and they are beginning to see the brighter side of it, as seen by our founding fathers in the early 1960’s and 1970’s. This just means that, When our youths with youthful energy diversify into any agriculturally related field, with adequate trainings, the nation will be revamped from her current financial mess and economic uncertainties, thereby reducing, to a large extent the gap between the “Super Rich” and “The Poor”. When I woke up to the news that the National Youth Service Corps (N.Y.S.C.) has been scrapped, I wished that the government (Federal, State and Local), setup large farm settlements, that will house all basic amenities while harnessing all the factors of production and specialise in a particular produce in that locality . However, this does not limit their productions, so that they will not perform below their installed capacity. Within this settlements will be soil scientists, Graduate Agriculturists, Clinics to cater for needs of the workers on these farms, as will be necessary per time. This, I feel, will help us achieve the diversification that our economy actually needs now. Do you know that some teachers who engage in private lessons make more money that some bankers and insurance agents? This is because, everybody wants qualitative education for their children, but they still need to go out there to work, so as to be able to fend for their family. Qualified teachers who wishes to professionalise will make more money in these times, where parents barely have time to even assist their children with their home works. This also shows the lacuna in our educational system, that has produced some graduates that do not know how to write simple application letters, how much more business plans. If this recession is not properly managed, the economy will go into depression, which is the worst state of financial crunch. Think, my people think ! Finally, survival is a skill that you must develop. Look at your fingertips, it is unique to you and you alone, no one else on planet earth has your unique features. What problems are you created to solve? There will be challenges, but these hard-times is to bring out the best in you. You do not need money to start a business, all you need is an idea. My dream is to raise a new generation of leaders that will be economic reformers and world shakers. People who are ready to take their world by storm and create a lasting impression on the sands of time. Once again, I am yours sincerely, and borrowing from Senator Ben Bruce, I am just trying to make common sense. The above is how to INSURE and SECURE our future. Thank you for reading. Give these my picture a caption…Let’s see how creative you can be with words. But it wasn’t easy oh! http://www.insuranceplus.com.ng/index.php/2016/06/06/what-do-you-think-about-this/ |
(Culled from The Beauty Of Tragedy by Babatunde Raimi) Sometimes in Feb. 2015, I was in a business meeting when our insurance consultant walked in. Together, we tried to analyse the reason why there is so much apathy towards insurance. The consultant looked at me straight in the eyes and said “Imagine you wake up on a bright morning, ready to go to work, your wife walks you to the door and says, “Honey”, have great day, and sealed it with a forehead kiss. Some metres outside, your daughter comes to you holding your hands and said “daddy”, what will you buy for me? Before you could answer her, in their usual childish manner, she said, “Daddy” what if you don’t come back? What happens to Mummy, what happens to us?” For me, that was the end of the meeting, the question pierced my heart. I lost concentration and started thinking, what guarantee do you have that if the outing turn out to be a journey of no return, will your family still enjoy the security they enjoyed when you were on-board?. What if it was your dependant wife or daughter that asked you that question “What happens to us if you don’t come back? Insurance is not to enrich you, when you buy life insurance, you transfer your risk. If you do not, you might have subjected the future of your dependents and family to the hazards of life. Insurance takes you back to where you were before a fall in the event of eventualities or unforeseen circumstances which always happen. It is a decision of the wise to “Buy The Future – ‘Mensah Utabil’. Sometime in 2013, at about 7.15pm, April 2012, while driving, on Badagry road when men of the underworld, threw whatever on the road. It was a targeted throw like a professional throw of a dart or javelin to make a point or achieve their objective. ‘Boom’ was the sound. I caught my tyre...Full details on: http://www.babatunderaimi.com/sunset-at-noonday/ |
(Culled from: THE BEAUTY OF TRAGEDY by Babatunde Raimi) What if you are kidnapped? Survival maybe as a result of a personal plan you have for yourself in Kidnap and Ransome insurance you have or depend on your organization, family or friends, which is more reliable? According to Google, Kidnap and Ransom insurance is or K&R insurance is designed to protect individuals and corporations operating in high-risk areas around the world”. Are you susceptible to kidnap? Using Nigeria as a case study, can you imagine how many cases of kidnap is perpetrated daily and probably undocumented? Are you likely to be kidnapped, or has there been any attempt to kidnap you, your children or a close family or relative? If you ever found yourself in this situation, imagine if ransom was requested and you were not able to pay? I remember sometime in 2005 or thereabout. I was with my best friend, discussing about the sweet memories of yester-years, the highs and lows. Suddenly, at about 11.24pm, my phone rang; it was a call from my friend’s Brother, who also happened to be my friend too.. He said “Oh Boy!, which kind church una go wey una never come back since”. Literarily, he was questioning lateness. Puzzled, I retorted “I no go Church oh!”. Meaning, “I did not go to church for the compulsory meeting. This was when it dawned on us that something is missing somewhere. The lady, though unmarried then was not a promiscuous person, so the thought of sleeping over at a man’s place was not in view. None of her known friends could tell of her whereabouts. We started praying, as typical Nigerians. The police option was literally put on hold, except she still did not surface after 24 hours. Suddenly, Just a little over 2am.........Continue this true life story on: http://www.babatunderaimi.com/what-if-you-are-kidnaped/ |
About 2 months ago, I was leaving for church and got to Oshodi at about 4.35am, when I suddenly realised I should have navigated into the service lane that leads to NAFDAC. I suddenly climbed the the slight road demarcation before I suddenly saw a group of Police Officers jumped in front of my car. I wound down and opened the door for them, they still forcefully opened the door and entered and even squeezed the small 4 years old chap I carried behind. I was very angry as I asked them why they should be that harsh. One looked at me and said "Why you want run". I retorted, "Why i go run, Police No be human being? I know say I commit offence but no be him say make una do like that. Me wey I dey always tell people say 'Police Is My Friend', una just fall my hand for these ladies wey I carry now. Na laugh dem go dey laugh me now". The one that obviously looked visibly intoxicated said in anger, "Drive to our office. Then I told him "if I reach una office, I go leave the car for una, na somebody go come carry am come meet me". It was at this point that the Officer in charge asked me, "Which state you come from? Oscar Serial Uniform November" I replied. I deliberately said it fast, as I suspected they did not immediately code what I said. He further asked, "What is your name? Bravo Alpha Bravo Alpha Tango Uniform November Delta Echo". This time, I said this faster than the first. It was at this point a second officer said, "Where you take learn all these things? I tell you say Police na my friend abi? I dey consult for Police on retirement matters. Then the O/C said, "Make i show you road wey you go take connect to Egbeda road, so that you go dey go church". I smiled at him and said, na now you come". I just asked a lady by my side to give me #1,000, I gave them in love, as my friends and they opted to give me their telephone numbers. So you see, Police can be your friends, if you know how to psychologically relate with them....Smiling. |
Truth is, if Linda actually opened what is meant to be her privates to Sesan "if" and only "If". What is the big deal. They are two adults, and such acts happen between two consensual adults. However, it is childish to use sexual preferences based on the law of attarction to attack the personality of others. I am very sure Linda now fully understands how people feel, when she goes about her official breaking gossip news job, which is legal. For Whizkid, with fame comes it's trappings, but what is the beauty of this tragedy? It has put the names of the two Gladiators on the lips of all those who cares, and people like me who happens to be on the side, looking and observing... Finally, let the two stars allow sleeping Dogs lie and shake hands, "Life is not a bed of roses". |

I use a 2008 Black Honda Accord, it had an issue my mechanic in Festac diagnosed wrongly and said all the fixing will cost #60,000. My friend who has the same type of car advised me to take it to Oyingbo. There they fixed the car and turned it to a brand new baby. It was as if I had never driven the car before. Because of hectic work schedule, they even came to my house to pick the car. My mechanic is Azeez, and when they introduced him to me just last week, they gave me his number as: 07087866954 Now, I can cruise at a higher altitude without regrets!

Let me.tell you a Secret. Do you know that insurance Sales Agents make more money than most Managers on a monthly basis. I can tell you categorically that most active agents earn between #300,000 & #1,800,000 steadily, and on a monthly basis. When you see an Insurance Agent driving a car, be sure that the car was bought "Loan-free" with their commission, not client's money oh! Afterall, the worker is due of his/her wages. If you think I am lying, ask your banker friends. Their major problem is that, most are financially unintelligent. |
Have you ever been harassed/approached by the fake Masquerades who parade Mushin/Oyingbo axis with a whip, begging for arms? What was your re-action/action when they approached you? Share your experience(s) |

More than 80 million people suffer from chronichalitosis, or bad breath. In most cases it originates from the gums and tongue. The odor is caused by wastes from bacteria in the mouth, the decay of food particles, other debris in your mouth and poor oral hygiene. Now, how do you tell a fine girl she's got HALITOSIS without bashing her ego, all in a bid to help her fight and defeat this disgraceful situation? |
