Once you taste the unlimited internet access, other telco offerings look like sh*t to you. The interesting part is the fact that I haven't had cause to subscribe to DSTv or any other local paytv operator in like 5 years. It's been bliss thanks to IPTV.

CypressHill2020:
The fibre optic internet service is deployed to your location by way of cables, kinda like how NITEL of those days used to run cables to our homes and offices. FibreOne (my ISP) services particular locations in Lagos at the moment. You will need to contact them to know if they're in your area (if you live in Lagos).

Once deployed, you get a modem (as seen in the attachment) which doubles as your WIFI router to wirelessly connect your devices to the internet. Note that the modem you'd get might be different from the one in the attachment. Mine is 5 years old and I know for sure there are newer models deployed.

Right now in Lagos, companies that offer fibre optic internet service that I know include FibreOne, Tizeti (wifi.com.ng) and BroadBased Communications ltd. FibreOne which I use offers truly unlimited internet service with no data caps like you have with your regular telcos. It's play online till you're tired. I use mine for all my internet needs as well as television needs by way of IPTV and other video streaming apps all for ₦10,800/month (soon to be ₦11,450 from April 1, 2021).

Reach me via email on cypresshillaca2020@gmail.com and I'd be more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Cheers

Fibre optic service provided by FibreOne Broadband in Gbagada, Lagos.

Hi, do you mind giving me links to reliable paid IPTV services? I used to get mine from AliExpress, but it seems there's some clamp down on them as all the ones I'd subscribed to in the past have their pages closed. I prefer paid IPTV to the free apps like Mobdro, LiveNetTV, RedboxTV, etc as the free ones aren't reliable.

Just like you, I cut ties with DSTv in 2016 when I got connected to a fibre optic internet service that offers me truly unlimited service. So, data is not an issue for me.

abatically:
Bro, I'm pretty sure I stream more than u do. I've already used 53gb this month and this month is one or those months that I don't use enough data normally it's around 80-90gb a month. There is no way streaming is more enjoyable than cable. Hd contents use a lot of data and watching in low res hurts my eyes. Can't stand it. Hesgoal, live football TV, etc I have them all. I don't even need to connect with hdmi as I can mirror my phone to tv, once it's conexted to tv the the quality becomes poor especially for all these illegal free streaming apps. They are not just stable enough. Youtube, Netflix, showmax and other paid services on the other hand are very stable as they have very strong and stable servers but are not free. And u can't just be streaming stuff all day and be economical. So u just stream cartoon for ur kids on weekends and leave them to watch for several hours without hurting ur pocket in data? Untill we have stable, reliable and cheap internet cable is still cheaper and better than streaming. You can stream to watch ur favorite shows but it's not something u can do all day.

IPTV is really giving DSTV run of their life, The truth is that the world has gone digital , even if DSTV slash to 2k naira on premium package it cannot be compare to numerous entertaining channel on an Internet Protocol Cable TV.

Life is about time and chance . Yesterday was DSTV
