WebmastersRe: [PHP] [HOWTO] Send 'POST' Data Through Header ?? by Gerardcole(op): 9:00am On May 31, 2013
Thanks everyone. I have resolved to use GET.

After about 1 hour searching, I saw there are some people who wants what i want but there's no possibility to that. The only option was using COOKIE. Which I don't really trust.

Once Again Thanks.
WebmastersRe: [PHP] [HOWTO] Send 'POST' Data Through Header ?? by Gerardcole(op): 8:03pm On May 30, 2013
Okay. Thanks everyone.

For the records I simply disagree with $_REQUEST cos it checks. POST, GET, COOKIE. Which isn't very professional. You should know what you are fetching. Or make it conditional.

The thing is like this.

User fills form targeting page1.

Page1 processes the input and passes the data to page 2.

Page two has its own form. And its based on what Page1 passes to it.

And I don't want users to know about this.
Webmasters[PHP] [HOWTO] Send 'POST' Data Through Header ?? by Gerardcole(op): 5:47pm On May 29, 2013
To our ogas at the top. I need you guys to help out on this.

I need to send a 'POST' data to another page page on my site by redirection. I don't wanna use a JavaScript cos the user might have JavaScript turned of.

I do not also wanna use a 'GET' cos it will affect the beauty of the project.

I've considered using 'COOKIE' that lasts for 10 seconds. But the bad part is, if a user loads two pages within that 10 seconds, the string is shown on both(this also applies to 'SESSION'). Perhaps the user might not even cookie accepting turned on.

What I'm saying is something like
header('Location: /folder/?foo=bar');

But the ?foo=bar makes it 'GET'. I a 'POST' alternative.

PoliticsPoliticians Take Over Chinua Achebe's Funeral by Gerardcole(op): 5:48am On May 24, 2013
Thursday’s burial of the late literary icon, Prof. Chinua Achebe, turned into a carnival of some sorts as politicians and their supporters announced their “noisy” presence on the occasion.

All through the funeral service at St. Philip’s Anglican Church Nkwelle Ogidi, the politicians kept moving about with their retinue of bodyguards, supporters and praise singers.

The trend worsened as the politicians, mainly those aspiring to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state, tried to outdo one another to announce their presence.

They came in with loud sounding siren-ushered convoys and a rush of young people shadowing after their tinted black luxury cars into the arena.

A lot of them however arrived the venue late after President Goodluck Jonathan had entered the church auditorium, so the presidential guards did not allow them in. However, some of them were able to find their way through another entrance.

Those who gained entry like a member of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, and former Presidential aide, Senator Andy Ubah, took their seats right behind Jonathan, perhaps for effect.

Senator Chris Ngige, another governorship aspirant, sat on the same row with the President along with Governor Peter Obi and President John Mahama of Ghana.

There was however a scene when the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Limited and governorship aspirant, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, arrived at the church.

He and his large supporters as well as bodyguards moved straight to the door to the church but the guards stopped them from entering. Not all the noisemaking and namedropping assuaged the guards, who refused the oil magnate entry.

The Capital Oil boss, however, managed to find himself in the church hall.

Soon after his entry, the Vicar of the church, Ven. Obi Ubaka, broke protocol to announce to the gathering, how much Ubah assisted the church in getting it ready for the funeral service.

Around the church premises and the home of the Achebe’s, the politicians put out huge billboards, banners and posters to express their condolences to the Achebes, while at the same time promoting their aspirations.

Chale!!

My own story is kinda different. I don't know why from my primary school till now I dislike social functions and any such thing as a relationship (I'm not gay or anything). So programming compounded the issue.

I remember a day I was in the church others where praying, my mind was on the code to achieve as aspect of a project. I did get it.
#WhoSaysTheHouseOfGodIsNotGreat

Recently Afam4eva was talking of loosing it socially and asking NL's to help him suggest the hype of the moment.

I really think this condition is common amongst focused (and aspiring / forged) programmers who are yet to get there.
PhonesSont Xperia ZR: Water & Dust Resistance Redefined by Gerardcole(op): 7:51pm On May 13, 2013
Sony has announced the younger sibling to the Xperia Z: the Xperia ZR. The Xperia ZR includes many of the Z's features in a smaller, more compact design.

https://st.gsmarena.com/vv/newsimg/13/05/xperia-zr/gsmarena_001.jpg

Just like the Xperia Z, the Xperia ZR is waterproof and dust-resistant. This time, Sony is not just advertising the fact that the Xperia ZR can survive underwater but that you can actually use it there, particularly for taking 13 megapixel pictures and full HD videos with the camera and dedicated shutter button.

The Xperia ZR has a 4.55-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution LCD. Sony is using its BRAVIA Engine 2, along with something called OptiContrast panel. This basically gets rid of the extra touchscreen layer by integrating the touch sensor on the panel itself, which improves image quality and makes the display assembly thinner.

Other features include a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064, 2GB RAM, 8GB internal memory with microSD card slot and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Sony Xperia ZR is expected to go on sale around the world in Q2, 2013.

PhonesNokia Asha 501: First Phone On Nokia Asha OS by Gerardcole(op): 10:15am On May 09, 2013
Stephen Elop just announced the new Nokia Asha 501 on the stage of the Nokia press in India. It’s the first product of the new generation Ashas with a brand new platform. The design is inspired by Lumia and Nokia picked red as the signature color.
The new Asha platform is based on the SmarterPhone acquisition Nokia made a few years ago. The new interface focuses on swipe events and a new feature called Fastlane.

https://st.gsmarena.com/vv/newsimg/13/05/nokia-asha-501/gsmarena_005.jpg

The Nokia Asha 501 is made of only two parts to make it more durable and cheaper to manufacture. The back is removable to access the microSIM, the pre-installed 4GB microSD card (up to 32GB supported) and the battery.
The phone packs a 3" QVGA capacitive touchscreen on the front (133ppi), it supports two finger multitouch. On the back, there's 3.2MP fixed-focus camera.

The new Asha platform is a grandchild of the MeeGo OS. The phone wakes up with a double tap. It features two home screens - one is Fastlane, the other one is the app drawer.

Fastlane promises to show your present and your past. Present includes currently running apps (yes, multitasking, hell froze over), while Past shows messages and other notifications you’ve received.

The Nokia Asha 501 focuses on 2G connectivity as large parts of emerging markets still rely on the slow mobile Internet. There are two apps to help with that - the Xpress browser compresses traffic and Xpress Now that recommends content based location, preferences and trending topics. Also, a partnership with Facebook and Airtel (Not Nigeria) ensures people can access the social network for free, even without a data plan (this will be for a limited time only).

The Nokia Asha 501 features Wi-Fi connectivity for faster local data transfers, plus Bluetooth 3.0 and microUSB 2.0. 3G-enabled Asha 5xx phones will launch later.

The new Nokia Asha OS will be a very social platform with Facebook, Foursquare, Linkedin, Twitter, Youtube and more available out of box.

There's going to be a dual-SIM version too. The second SIM card is exchangeable without having to remove the battery, a feature Nokia was keen to point out is unique to them.

The Nokia Asha 501 measures 99.2 x 58 x 12.1mm and weighs 98g.

The new Asha platform promises to be very efficient - the 1,200mAh battery in the Asha 501 is enough for up to 17 hours of talk time and 48 days of standby (26 days for the dual-SIM).

The Nokia Asha 501 will start shipping in June in 90 countries on 60 operators. It will cost $99 before taxes and subsidies for the single-SIM version.

I ll not be surprised that JAMB is running on a LOW level VPS instead of on a Self Hosted Machine / High Spec Dedicated Server since its Federal Govt Property.

CelebritiesWizkid Signs Maleek Berry To Startboy Ent by Gerardcole(op): 12:53am On Apr 18, 2013
https://notjustok.jarapages.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Wizkid-Maleek-Berry.jpg

Wizkid has already started building his own StarBoy Entertainment dynasty with the signing of fast-rising producer, Maleek Berry, who's responsible for a couple of Wiz's recent hits "Lagos 2 Soweto" and "The Matter".

Maleek also produced "Carolina" by Sauce Kid & Davido, "My Way" by Wande Coal and a couple of tracks on Davido's O.B.O album.

I see many fruitful artiste/producer years ahead of these two guys. In very related news, Wizkid will be releasing his 2nd and LAST album under his parent record label EME on the 12 of June, 2013.

The album is still currently untitled but I'm sure that will change in the coming weeks. One of unreleased the tracks titled "Jaiye Jaiye" features Legendary Afrobeat musician, Femi Kuti. The mixtape follows afterwards.

Just remembered that while(1). Nice one active man. I have already followed another approach.

I had an error in my codes while coding that made a condition always true. I know how hard it took me to even close my browser and restart. So I'm not testing this but will give a snippet.

<?php
$cond = 1;
/*Sets a variable that will aid in looping.*/

$even = 2; //Even no's are divisible by 2 without remainder.

$number = 0; //First number

while($cond == 1)
/*Since is already 1, this condition will never end*/
{
if(($number % $even == 0) AND ($number != 0))
/* Since it will return same for 0 but we don't want 0 */
{
echo $number.', ';
}
$number++;
}
?>
WebmastersRe: PHP Simple Puzzle by Gerardcole(m): 3:39pm On Apr 14, 2013
I usually type on my android device so sorry for the errors. I didn't close a line with ;. Also I didn't close the if containing the in_array(), then I interchanged the position of the values in in_array. So editing the former post, here is the solution.

Okay. Since according to our puzzle provider, Judinho59 didn't get the required output, I ll provide my own solution. The puzzle is kinda tricky.

Given array('2', '4', '6', '8', '10', '12')
To return 2,4,8,10 (Removing 6 and 12 and the last comma that's supposed to appear after 10)

I'm also gonna attack in two methods.

1. Using PHP in_array()

<?php
/* First we set the values we do not want in an array */
$unwanted = array('6', '12');

/*Then we set a variable which will help in placing comma's */

$counter = 0;

/*Then to the code */
$ev = array('2', '4', '6', '8', '10', '12');

foreach($ev as $a)
{
if(!in_array($a, $unwanted))
/*Checks if $a is not in our unwanted list before proceeding*/
{
if($counter > 0)
/* Since we don't want it after our last value but after every other, we run this before the value. > 0 here explains that we don't want it before the first as our counter is still 0 before this line */
{
echo ', ';
}
echo $a;
$counter++;
/*In PHP ++ is same as +1 so whenever it gets to the line above, the counter is increased buly 1*/
}

}
?>

2. Using the modulus operator '%'

The modulus %, in PHP returns the remainder in a division operation. E.g 7 % 5 returns 2 (i.e 1 remaining 2), 10 % 5 returns 0 (i.e 2 remaining 0).

I wouldn't be explaining the lines I already explained in example 1 above.

<?php
$div = 6;
/* Since all the unwanted numbers are divisible by 6. */

$counter = 0; //As explained in e.g 1 above

$ev = array('2', '4', '6', '8', '10', '12');

foreach($ev as $a)
{
if($a % $div != 0)
/*Since it will return 0 for our unwanted 6 and 12*/
{
if($counter > 0)
{
echo ', '; //As explained in e.g 1 above
}
echo $a;
$counter++; //As explained in e.g 1 above.
}
}
?>

The above returns:
/*From E.g 1 */

2, 4, 8, 10

/*From e.g 2 */

2, 4, 8, 10

WebmastersRe: PHP Simple Puzzle by Gerardcole(m): 5:57am On Apr 14, 2013
In addition to what Judinho59 wrote.

You can use an exclamation mark '!' to mean not in php. Just like Judinho59 used:

$number != 12;
/*Which translates to: if the current number is not equal to 12 */

Also note that in PHP, '!=' and '!==' are the same.

You can use the greater than '>' or lesser than '<' symbol. It works the same way it does in Mathematics.

From Judinho59's example,

if($number < 12) { /* Meaning: if $numbet is lesser than 12*/ }

This will output same values as Judinho59's. But in case the members of the int array has greater numbers than 12 and you want no values from 12 above, you can use this.

Incase you were wondering, Judinho59's code will output.

2,4,6,8,10,

I would love a puzzle on removing the last comma after 10 as it is not prof. to leave it there.
WebmastersRe: PHP Simple Puzzle by Gerardcole(m): 7:39pm On Apr 13, 2013
I will attack this puzzle in two ways for beginners purpose.

1. Saving values to variable.

<?php
/* I'm typing on my phone so I will use short variable names. Hope you'll undertand */

echo 'Example 1<br>';

$ev = array('2', '4', '6', '8', '10', '12');

/* We are gonna use a foreach() loop which processes every member of an array.*/

$new = ''; //sets an empty variable we will fill our values to.

foreach{$ev as $a)
{
$new .= $a.'<br>';
/* Notice the concatenation operator or you call it dot in Nigeria. I mean '.' It adds the string on the right after the equal sign to the already existing string on the left. Without it, the $new will be replaced by the value on the right */
}

/*Now our values are stored in the variable $new
When we gt to the line we wanna use it, we print*/

echo $new;
?>

2. Outputting variables directly.
<?php

echo 'Example 2';

$ev = array('2', '4', '6', '8', '10', '12');

/* Its still the same foreach() function */

foreach($ev as $a)
{
echo $a . '<br>';
}
?>

The above examples would output

Example 1
2
4
6
8
10
12

Example 2
2
4
6
8
10
12

Notice the dot before the <br> in the source code of examples 1 and 2. This tells php that this variable or string ends here, the following is another.

Since PHP doesn't understand white-spaces when its not appearing within quotes, dots serve as comma in English language.

https://lh4.ggpht.com/-w9m5d13a_1s/UWhOS8RYSyI/AAAAAAAAAEg/FRw6VCauHec/s0/blackdiamond.jpg

British designer Stuart Hughes is a name that is more often than not associated with the glitzy and expensive lifestyle, as he has come up with plenty of weird and pricey designs in the past, including an iPad that had a real T-Rex bone in it. Well, this time around, Stuart Hughes has churned out what could very well be the most expensive smartphone in the world, where he calls it the iPhone 5 Black Diamond, as it carries a sticker price of approximately $15 million after conversion.

This particular smartphone was custom-ordered by an anonymous Chinese businessman, where it comes dipped in 26 karat gold, in addition to an actual black diamond which will now take over the position of the home key, in addition to 600 “regular” diamonds that have been embedded into the phone’s chassis. 53 of those diamonds make up the Apple logo, and the display has ditched Gorilla Glass in lieu of sapphire glass that is a whole lot more durable, and the entire shebang took Stuart Hughes 9 weeks to make it. Ain’t too shabby to earn so much money in such a short amount of time after you deduct the cost of the materials required, no?

WebmastersRe: PHP Simple Puzzle by Gerardcole(m): 11:20am On Apr 12, 2013
Can explain in words:

$a == $b; //$a and $b are equal. True.

$a !=== $b; //$a and $b are not identical. True

E.g:

<?php
$a = 0;
$b = 000;
if($a == $b)
{
echo '$a and $b are equal';
} else {
echo '$a and $b are not equal';
}
echo '<br>';
if($a === $b)
{
echo '$a and $b are identical';
} else {
echo '$a and $b are not identical';
}
?>

The code above will output:

$a and $b are equal
$a and $b are not identical
