Namaster: Funniest thing about this BLOCKADE is European countries and American VASSALS across the World somehow BLAME Iran.
They DON'T blame the PDFile or ILLsrael who LAUNCHED the ILLEGAL war.
They BLAME the country that was ATTACKED.
MADNESS.
Another FUNNY thing is that Europe is buying EXPENSIVE Oil from America who's doing EXACTLY what Russia is doing while BOYCOTTING Russian Oil.
The MOWRUNS! Na why dem call them vassal allied states. I recall when the German Chancellor boasted and was brimming with joy that Iran would be destroyed or should be destroyed. He was ecstatic about it. This is why I am not fazed by their so-called disagreement. Also, they are hypocritical. These were the people who lampooned the Chinese for polluting the world and advocated for climate change technologies. Yet, they are the same people now criticising China for "over capacity" in the production of solar panels and wind blades. They are now suddenly afraid of EVs - the same technology they promoted. They are one and the same thing.
p.s. I am forever grateful for Chinese ingenuity in innovating and out-producing their products for the benefit of mankind and exposing the crude and disgusting hypocrisy of the West. |

1forall: Same Nigerians that voted APC now want them out.
But what's Bakare's connection with the topic? By your logic, Osinbajo is now incapable of speaking the truth because he was Buhari's VP. Sorry, but the Nigerians who voted for Buhari did the same thing with Tinubu. Why are they surprised things aren't getting better? Why did they vote for Buhari who had been historically incompetent at everything he touched his hands on since 1984? I don't buy the excuse, sorry. Nigerians knew what they wanted when they voted for Buhari in 2015. Nobody should complain. |

Romance › Re: Involuntary Single Ladies In Nigeria: What’s Really Going On? by Gerrard59(m): 3:14am On Apr 23 |
1forall: The answer is hidden in plain sight. These are tough times and state of the economy is generally unfavourable for men to take on additional responsibilities as things are hard enough being single. It's been so for quite some time and now even worse with this APC government.
The poor economy has greatly exacerbated transactional relationships and hookup culture, and made men increasingly suspicious of ladies' morals and intents, resulting in prolonged periods of bachelorhood. So it's a vicious cycle that also affects the men as there are many involuntarily single men out there too.
Elections have consequences and the sooner more people begin to make the connection between politics, political choices & personal life goals, the better for the involuntarily single people and everyone else out there. The economy is really at fault here, as the term "hook up" got a sexual meaning after the 2015 elections. But then, Nigerians voted for the APC. So? Even the man - Tunde Bakare - you have in your signature was once a Buhari's VP candidate and camapaigned for the APC in 2015, 2019 and 2023. lol |

Yes, society has changed... But try to ask our parents that have been married for years now how they did it.
Even when you see women drive their cars they do that with so much pride. Who would want to stay with a proud woman?
Simply put, as a standard independent lady if you want to marry, be humble. If you are going out on a date with a man you know doesn't have car, use public transport. sounds like an advice given on Nairaland in 2013/2014. I don too old for this forum... |

DJperdurabo: My view about why they're still a lot of "eligible" involuntary single ladies differ slightly from the reasons you gave.
Why?
1. Most eligible single ladies (beautiful, composed, financially stable and over 34) are EXTREMELY picky when it comes to men they date talk less of settling down with. They NEVER date down. Head of Human Resources (35 years), Senior Product Manager (36 years), Senior Sales Associate (34 years), Regional Manager (39 years), Executive Director (40 years), MD (40 years), Boutique Owner (37 years), Spa Owner (38 years) etc.will NEVER settle for a man less than their ego. Now the problem that arises is this: most men that meet their requirements are NOT readily available. He's either married, toxic, a hopeless womaniser, abusive, non-commital, fat, short, not handsome or gay (yes, that one dey too!). The married men account for the largest quadrant of the aforementioned. So you see these pretty ladies asking for love, commitment etc on their bios in dating apps and you wonder why a woman so beautiful is still single. You have the answer now.
2. Unlike what you opined in your post, a lot of these eligible ladies have NOT adjusted their male "entry" requirements. Nope! They maintain their stance in the kind of man they want age notwithstanding. Religion hasn't helped either as the pulpit makes them believe that with faith what happened to just one lady who got married to the man of her dreams via prayers (amongst a population of 20,000 other ladies; do the correlation math) can happen to them. So, they pray on and on and time goes by.
3. Unlike the pervasive view that the older a woman gets the more desperate for a man she becomes thus lowering her standards, the true reality is far from so. This may work for broke, plain Janes. For eligible ladies who know their worth, the older they get the more set in their ways and believe they become; they hardly compromise in their idea of the dream man. In fact, the entry bar gets even higher for men she wants to date and possibly settle down with (ever wondered why you hear more of celibacy as a relationship requirement amongst older ladies- circa late 30s to early 40s than the younger ones?)
I could go and on with other points but the post is getting lengthy. Summarily, "eligible" ladies are still single not for lack of good men out there but for the simple fact that their choice of men are relatively no longer romantically available.
By the time you remove the eligible married men, fat men, short men, Muslim/Christian men (depending on her religion), financially unstable.men (given current standards you should be worth at least 1.5-2Mn net monthly to qualify for these eligible ladies), abusive men, genotype incompatibility, womaniser na wetin remain again? The men don nearly finish na! So you see them struggling for the extremely small percentage of 'eligible' bachelors (handsome, tall, athletic build, financially stable, genotype compatible, smells good, SINGLE, God-fearing, faithful, loves his parents and family hence family oriented, not gay, respectful, commanding presence and ambitious) thus making these guys the prize rather than them.
Note: The points apply to ELIGIBLE (Beautiful, matured, financially stable and organised) spinsters ONLY. A lot of other "ladies" do display the coping mechanism OP stated. But when I stated the same, they said I was nAiVe Thank you for your post, esp for points 1 and 3. |

Well, this is why female education and economic empowerment were massively encouraged, so women earn their own money, which a lot of them now do. The thing with "helping" women is that they are largely ungrateful and forgetful about the help. Also, "help" in today's capitalist world isn't a guarantee but value addition. What economic value do you offer? That is how you get assistance. Working as a sales girl in a business has higher chances of being assisted by people, either in tips or higher salaried jobs.
Sorry, but women now have access to education and economic empowerment than ever before. The belief that you deserve help simply because you are a woman does not sit well with me. Help is obtained from your siblings, your parents, and maybe the church. Even for the church, you have to show value before they assist you.
Offer value before seeking help. |

The mass appeal of Android powered Chinese phones should be a lesson for everyone. In fact, if the Chinese are developing a new technology/innovation, it is best to follow suit because once fully developed and accepted in China, the world is next. And as we know it, the Chinese would mass produce it so it becomes very cheap for everyday users. You don't fight the Chinese in technology innovation and mass production. Western automakers tried, and they failed woefully. Today, they are opening R & D facilities and factories in China to learn from the Chinese. Today, there are EV trucks in China, the world's battery producers are Chinese, ditto for solar and wind. You, I and anyone else cannot beat them. Just join them. |

Namaster: China has conducted themselves in a very DISGRACEFUL manner.
America has branded them the ENEMY. Europe has followed suit and BRANDED them the enemy.
They are HAPPY to enter into economic partnerships. But UNWILLING to commit Military Resources to protect those partnerships.
China ALREADY has the Military Might to CHALLENGE the US in any THEATRE of war.
But they continue to act TIMIDLY. And that TIMIDITY no longer looks strategic.
MANY people are tired of the HIGH-HANDEDNESS of America and the rest of the West.
They are READY to move on from them.
But they NEED security guarantees from a Super Power.
Economic partnerships with China makes a country a TARGET for the West.
Without a Military Partnership to go along with it, the economic partnerships of China will become the FORBIDDEN FRUIT.
And China will return to the SHADOW of the West in terms of Economic Influence.
Xi NEEDS to go.
NOTHING stops China from sending one of their Aircraft Carriers to the Middle East. ElevationD: Oh that’s great to know that you are resident in Japan.
As a family man in Malaysia, you have peace of mind. No one harassed you. The challenge as a black man is the repeated tendency you commit crime. One day it is drugs, the next it is fraud or cultism. However policing is good and the country is very safe.
As a family man, you can feel free, move around with no harassment. Night time is peaceful and you can shop at 7 Eleven which opens twenty four hours a day.
Don’t think too far. The same here. It is very safe to move around. But as one raises a family (sending the children to school, playing in fields/neighbourhoods and the children having their own pursuits), how feasible is this for Black families? For instance, in a playground of children and parents, what is it like for the Black child amongst hordes of Malays, Indian Malays and Chinese Malays? p.s. I know that international schools exist, but for the majority, it is very expensive. So either public or private (not necessarily international) schools are the option. Those who carry out legitimate businesses are our citizens from the SE. They largely own the warehouses from where they genuinely carry out their export businesses without harassments. Also Nigerians are employers of labour and they pay minimum wage. You can set up your own factory, manufacture and export to Africa! The cost of living is very reasonable too. I am not surprised at this, but I am happy with it. It is the same here - those with permanent status are either company employees or most likely employers and own their warehouses. The one thing I find loveable about these upper middle/high income Asian societies is how safe they are. Definitely, Singapore is more beautiful and better organized than Malaysia and Thailand put together. When you talk about Singapore, you are looking at one of the five most beautiful places to visit. I agree as Singapore is the elite version of living in Asia, even more than China and Japan combined (my opinion). Indonesia, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam no follow for this matter my brother. Peace of mind is very crucial. Instead of living in Indonesia, please jejely find your way to India or remain in Nigeria. If Nigeria too hard, pack your load go Ghana, Mozambique or Angola. Lol I am not surprised. Just in relation to the above about raising children, one of my school mates married a dude based in Indonesia, but she lives with the children in Anambra. Most of the senior men I come across here don't have their wives and children living with them. Only a few do (married to fellow Nigerians) and the others married to Japanese. |

ElevationD: You can live there in peace as long as you can get documents. No one troubles you. Do not engage in drug trafficking or any form of illegality. It’s a free and beautiful country. Very easy going people. Good places to visit too with very good currency.
Too many Nigerians live and carry on legitimate businesses there. They have genuine visas and live with their families. You can also get business visas and so on.
The weather is the same as Nigeria. The same weather happening at the same time just like Nigeria. Let’s say the weather is carbon copy of Nigeria’s weather. You will love it out there. Respect yourself and do not pass your boundary as a foreigner. You are safer there than India, where you can be beaten with cricket bats if you commit crimes, or just for nothing. The same goes for China, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand. They are good countries to live. In Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore, you can enjoy peppersoup fish just like Nigeria, steaming hot. Avoid crimes and you will spend your entire life in peace in those countries. You will also earn well.
Avoid India, Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam. Poverty go bend you life in those countries. The citizens travel to other countries in search of jobs. I know about living in Asia as I'm a resident in Japan. I'm just looking at the aspect of living as a family man (fully Black). Maybe, I'm the one thinking too much and too far. Thailand and Singapore are the best in my opinion. Yes, the weather is conducive for West Africans. Of course, anyone who commits crimes in another man's country has him or herself to blame. cc: For some reasons, you omitted Indonesia. Any particular reason? |

ElevationD: The question is: where are the jobs for African citizens with no documents? Where are the jobs for people who get in to the country with tourist visas which by the way, are the major visas obtained to travel there? Tourist visas are not extended after expiration. In two weeks from the day of your entry, you begin to hide from the authorities.
Chinese Malaysians are Malaysian nationals. Work permits are granted to Filipinos, who mainly work as Indonesians and people of other Asian countries who seek to work there, in the factories and as housekeepers. For Africans, it is a longer route, with student visas or the very expensive and almost impossible to afford ten year visas, avoiding to get into trouble while you wait. Well, Malaysia is not a place I would recommend for an average or even above average African to live in unless sponsored as a scholar to study at one of its best universities or to learn modern day oil palm plantations. The country has never crossed my mind as a place to live. Nonetheless, I admire and respect them for what they have built for themselves. |
Crime › Re: 3 Women Lured With Malaysia Job Offers, But Taken To Mali To Work As Sex Slaves by Gerrard59(m): 2:52am On Apr 20 |
ElevationD: Where are the jobs in Malaysia by the way? The cost of getting into Malaysia with your visa, personally processed by you at the high commission, is far more than going anywhere in Europe and the USA. After your visa, you purchase your ticket and YOU MUST have a minimum cash of two thousand US dollars to present to Malaysian immigration on request as a first timer, upon your arrival. You MUST also have your verifiable health card. How many women venture there?
Where are the jobs in Malaysia, when you only have a tourist visa?
If you have a few millions, why not try your hands on some good investments in Nigeria, or better still some great skills that will make you richer? You also can try your hands on importation of goods that can make life better for you.
Please stay off stress. This “madam” business is such a horrible and dehumanizing practice. For too many years it was Italy. Now, no country is spared by these horrible men and women. Get to all West African countries and you will find innocent and decent Nigerian ladies camped in apartments, with lies of traveling to Europe. They end up as prostitutes to fend for themselves and the men who take them there. Some are not able to venture out of the apartments for fear of exposing the place to police. Sha, there are good jobs in Malaysia, but mainly for Malaysians, especially ethnic Malays and Chinese Malaysians. But yes, the racial discrimination is high there. But the country is pretty well run, way more than any African country anyway. |
