Hello Nairalanders, I have decided to start a tutorial on how to write a job targeted Resume or CV. In this tutorial I will show you the basics of writing a job targeted Resume/CV. If you will agree with me, there are resumes and there are resumes. When i see some resumes i just can't help but laugh. to write a resume that will catch the interest of your potential employer is very easy as ABC. Perhaps you don't know that employers have certain things they look for in any resume and if yours doesn't have it they just drop it. Let me shock you again, employers only spend one minute on your resume. why, you may ask? Very simple. They have thousands of resumes to check. Let's get to the Tutorial itself. <--------------------TUTORIAL STARTS HERE.-----------------------> Before writing your Resume or CV, you need to ask yourself one question. the question is this. What kind of job do i desire? Do you want an Administrative job or Marketing job? By the time you ask this question, it will guide through the rest of the process. May be you don't know that you must have different Resumes for different jobs. the mistake some job seekers make is that they draft just one Resume, mass produce it and send out. My dear , That is very wrong of you. if you have been doing that please stop it. Having answered this question yourself. the next step is as follows: Before Writing 1.List all degrees. this part has to deal with all the degrees you have ever had in your life. Bsc. B.a, B.ed, B.tech, LLB, Msc etc By the time you do this kindly check which one of this degrees corresponds with the job i want. whichever does not correspond please strike it out. 2.List all your jobs with employment dates. have you worked somewhere before? -if so list all job titles and positions held. 3. List all major training courses attended. you think they don't matter, but they do just list them first. it has been discovered that most people who get jobs do so not because of their degrees. 4. List all major projects lead or participated. Do you partake in Volunteer jobs? list the ones you have participated well in it. 5. List all special certifications and licenses – NIIT,CIBN,NIMN etc 6. List all Hobbies. After you have done all the above always cross check you qualifications with the job you desire, by doing this you will stay right on track. Don't forget we are just preparing to write you Resume, this is not your final one. if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me here. if you have any comments or suggestions too, kindly post it here. you may also send your questions to (p h e m y t e @ f r e e a u t o b o t . c o m) thanks very much. Thats it for now watch out for the next part. |

Believe it or not, you are examined from head to toe in all interviews. Not only is your experience and personality sized up, but also your appearance. The dress code for men and women differ substantially so this article is broken up into separate sections for each gender. There's no impression like the first impression. Initial decisions made about you in the first three minutes of the job interview are nearly irreversible. Men - Consider These Tips/Advice • tailored suits in navy, gray, beige. (black is a funeral color, avoid it.) • dark suit, light shirt • natural fabrics - wool/wool blend for the suit, cotton for the shirt, silk for the tie • business shoes and over -the-calf dark socks • matching silk tie in low-key colors Women - Consider These Tips/Advice • simple, tailored suit • tailored dress • dress & jacket combination • simple blouse • natural fabrics - wool/wool blend, cotton and silk • conservative colors - blue, gray, beige or black • avoid loud or flashy styles and colors • use makeup sparingly. • low -heeled pumps, flesh colored stockings More tips available at www.obafemionlie.com/writing-a-targeted-resume or http://www.obafemionline.com/writing-job-targeted-resumes-2 Your's Truly Fawibe Obafemi, www.obafemionline.com |

A lady friend of mine called me about three nights ago. She had a very husky voice which was very unusual of her. That alone tells me something was wrong but had to listen to her story. She was sobbing profusely and it was evident she was troubled. The normal pleasantries ensued for a while and I asked her why she was crying. She could not lay a hand on anything tangible other than she was fed up. After much persuasion, I discovered she was depressed and lonely. She had finished her first degree last year with good results, but up till date she is yet to go for her national service. Adding to her grief was the fact that her roommates and best friend had already gone. She has visited her school times without number but since she is not the only one, they could only tell her not to worry. I could see she was bored of sitting at home all day. She has actually tried getting a job but to no avail. Imagine struggling to gain admission to the university, through thick and thin you managed to graduate only to start begging for national service. In Nigeria, completion of national service is no guarantee that you get a job. Even during the service year, careers are changed. What can we say of doctors teaching English in primary schools? Poor girl, I consoled and advised her to get something doing for the meantime. Even if it meant learning a skill or trade. Issues like this abound in every home across the country. Many graduates, undergraduates often find themselves in between times like this. They are either out of school waiting for the next step in life, on long holidays or the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is on strike like we have now. Thousands of undergraduates are home wasting away precious time. Some were reported to be writing exams before the strike commenced totally disrupting their academic calendar. When students or people finds themselves in phases like this in life so many things happen. Some of the students who are fortunate will have good advice from friends and relatives. They would have either found a job or enroll to learn a trade or skill; quite a lot would also be working. Others who are not so fortunate are sitting at home watching movies and sleeping their eyeballs out. One thing I know for sure is that quite a lot of destinies are being changed during this strike, either for good or bad. Quite an army of unwanted babies would be brought to life with a sure increase in the rate of indiscriminate sex. It is no doubt that lots of lives would be lost also owing to unsafe abortion of unwanted babies by quack doctors. Their male counterparts are also caught in the web of smoking, gambling, drinking and of course indiscriminate sex. What else do we expect from a generation of youths whose destinies have been short-changed? An idle mind they say is the devils workshop. Instead of whiling away the time busy doing nothing, this is a period for the youths to get busy enriching their lives. It is a time for you to learn a skill or craft. For those who were writing exams pre-ASUU strike, please don’t forget to read. As it is evident you are bound to resume to the exam halls. Time is one resource nature has bestowed on us all, but some make the most use of it while others simply waste it. www.obafemionline.com/ASUU-strike |
NaijaEcash:hello Naija Ecash, these are the things i did when i had the same problem. 1. i tried reinstalling the device from my hard disk. (didn't work) 2. i unchecked the TCP/IP(IpV4). that was when i was able to solve the problem. I would advice you visit your network configuration page. i mean where you enter your IP settings. TCP/IP. undo all the selected boxes one by one and try again. Ensure you are connected to the wireless network to prove your selections. i hope that works out well. let me know whats up. after you try this |

Hi Ladies, How would you expect a guy to ask you out? Guys can be very funny at times. Most especially when it comes to issues concerning ladies. So many guys just think a nice ride, clean shave, affluence or probably good diction is a passport to date a lady. That’s why ladies have rather been on the defensive. Now let’s get to the crux of the matter and it brings us to this question. “Ladies, How would you expect a guy to ask you out?” Ladies it’s your thing educate the guys. Thanks |
asha 80:asha, one thing we should realize about issues like this is that though things look rough at present but positive confessions have a way of turning around the situation. davidylan:Positive confessions is not a religious mumbo jumbo. Whether we like it or not, As a man thinks in his heart so is he. America that we see today started existing over 200 years ago. they started saying God bless America even before we were discovered. Nigeria is just going to 50 though not young anymore but we all should realize that Life is in stages;Achievements in phases. No baby walks the day he was born. He needs to crawl, toddle, stagger, before he gets a firm grip of himself and after that he falls no more except he meets an obstacle. Obafemi |
I believe in a better Nigeria. "Nigeria is Blessed" "It is Well with Nigeria" we can still have more. |
