Education › Re: How MTN Nigeria Restored My Lost Hope by gevans(m): 11:09am On Sep 26, 2024*. Modified: 9:02pm On Sep 26, 2024 |
ajahexcel: My name is Ajah Excel Anayo, This story is how a "Yello Brand" restored hope to a hopeless child.
I had completed my secondary education as the best student in WASSCE and third Best in NECO in 2008 from Federal Government College Okigwe.
For lack of sponsorship, I couldn't write JAMB that year till 2011 after I had raised some money from a teaching job I took.
Fortunately, I wrote JAMB and scored 277 and 264 in post utme, so I got admission to study Information Management Technology in Federal University of Technology Owerri. Then the big question "?", How will I pay acceptance, how will I do clearance, how will I pay school fees , What of accommodation, text books etc.
Fortunately, my friend from FGC okigwe met me in FUTO and gave me N25,000 to pay my acceptance. Another of my FGC Okigwe student took me in to stay in his room. That was how I got into FUTO.
Sincerely, I didn't bring anything to FUTO except two shirts and two trousers and 4 JAMB past questions I used for tutorial for predegree students.
So I started looking for scholarship opportunities, All through 100level, I didn't win any.
Before the semester exams, we were told that those who had not paid school fees will not write the exams. I became so scared and started looking for help all over.
One morning I decided to call the office line of FGC Okigwe Vice Principal, Mrs Ebere Dike. I told her that her best student in 2008 WASSCE wants to drop out for lack of sponsorship and asked I if the school could help in anyway. She told me that the principal who knew me had left and the current one is the third principal since I graduated. Finally, she promised to present my case.
As God would have the new Principal Mrs. Rose N. Nwachukwu took pity and paid my school fees. That was how I wrote the exam. Results were released and I came top of my class with a 4.45 gpa.
In my second year, the same challenge surfaced again, this time I almost dropped out. Then came the light of hope I got to learn about MTN Foundation Scholarship on the Internet from a scholarship website and my CGPA met the requirement. I applied and got enlisted for the exam. 13th of March 2013, MTN Nigeria restored hopes to me and many others with an award of N200,000 yearly.
With that money, I Paid my second-year fees, bought my first laptop I used to start a side hustle. MTN Foundation made good their promise and I received that support till I graduated.
Before I forget, Within same year I got the scholarship, I thought of how I could help other students who are indigent like me get access to scholarship information. In 2013 I started an online platform called Nigerian University Scholarships. It grew so quickly and became the go-to portal for scholarship and other educational resources. Today the platform has grown to become Worldscholarshipforum.com with over 2 million monthly visitors looking for scholarship information on the portal and has grown to birth a company Silicon Africa that now host Smfest one of Nigeria 🇳🇬 largest tech innovation conference.
Today we help over 2 million students every month access information on scholarships and other financial aid programmes through World Scholarship Forum I am happily married and have 3 lovely kids whose future is also secured. All these were only possible because the "Yello Brand" gave a helping hand. I cannot finish my success story without mention of this "Yello Brand". Dear MTNC Foundation, you didn't just help me, you helped a generation. This might be longer than expected but I can't hold the excitement I feel each time I share this story of how MTN Foundation restored hopes to my dying dreams. This is my 2013 version before MTN came to my rescue.
Note: the cheque is a dummy cheque that represents Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba names Inspiring! I used to visit Nigeria University Scholarship site then for scholarships update. |

Romance › Re: What’s Your Pretty Privilege Story ? by gevans(m): 1:50pm On Jul 30, 2023 |
placeofallure: By all standards, I am pretty and I have had my privileges. I tend to have my way with almost everybody.
At the Sunday School when I was little, the teacher was sharing Xmas greeting cards according to how we were sitting. There was a girl sitting beside me and it was her turn to get a card, and it was the most beautiful card of them all. The teacher skipped her, gave me the beautiful card and gave her another one. This incidence was the first time l realised how I looked.
My boss where I served couldn't act bossy with me as he did with every other staff and corp member. He has been mesmerized. He later confessed. The same goes for my zonal inspector. Other girls would jump over themselves if he at least looked their way. He begged to date me for the entire year and I used him.
My lecturer in school has a reputation - He's Mr. No Nonsense. My friend and I turned in our assignments late. Normally, he wouldn't collect it. We tried our luck. He accepted mine and turned my friend back. I pleaded for her but he said only me deserved that privilege.
When I showed up at the immigration office to process my passport. The officer wouldn't let people in, in my presence, he was turning people back, he just looked at me and I made sure we had eye contact, he not only asked me to go in, he led me to the capturing office and gave me a seat.
Many privileges really. In school when we want to do things or see a lecturer or some important people, my friends would push me to the front.
It is real and it works for me. Interesting |

Politics › Re: NBA Conference Saga: ‘why I Wore Suit On Sneakers’, Shettima Breaks Silence by gevans(m): 6:43pm On Aug 26, 2022 |
ArewaNorth: Senator Kashim Shettima, Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has broken his silence on the controversy which trailed his dressing to the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) conference in Lagos on Monday.
Shettima, who stood in for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Presidential Candidate of the ruling party, became a social media sensation after one of his pictures at the conference went viral.
Social media users had accused the former Governor of Borno State of fashion error, picking many holes in his dressing.
The criticism took another dimension when different persons, including celebrities like Charly Boy, mocked the politician with #ShettimaChallenge, which had several pictures of those reproducing what could be described as the senator’s dressing but in a comic manner.
But speaking on the incident for the first time since it happened, Shettima said he deliberately wore the sneakers.
He also alleged that a Presidential Candidate, whose identity he did not disclose, plotted mischief ahead of the event.
In a video, Shettima said, “I was in Lagos for the NBA conference. The conference held in Eko Hotels. It was largely funded by the Lagos State Government, the APC government of Lagos State. Subsequently, they moved to Eko Atlantic City, a product of an idea conceived by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“When I sent my recce team, it was learnt that one of the presidential candidates’ team held meetings for three consecutive nights to commit mischief. I was told it was a hostile crowd… I’m a banker, trained by one of the best bankers in the world. I’m a Jim Ovia boy. I deliberately wore sneakers to the NBA to swam at them.”

Christianity Etc › Re: The Curse In Sleeping With A Married Woman by gevans(m): 1:53pm On Aug 26, 2022 |
cutecommend: A Pastor said a guy slept with a married woman and lost his job the next day.
If you sleep with a married woman will it bring a curse? Let me tell you one thing. Curses are sometimes like seeds that grow into a tree. Do you know if you sleep with a married woman today, you may not feel anything or consequence until maybe 10 years later.
Sleeping with married women is dangerous. You may escape it, but your children may begin to experience some negative stuff.
If you have slept with a married woman, please stop it and repent. Sleeping with married woman is bad. It's a no no for me. I see married women like fellow men. |

They so much love the type that when they hug him, thier hairs will be below the guy's jaw or neck.
They look down on short men so much.
If u are broke and tall, some nigerian girls will consider u.
But if u are short, come broke join, hmmmmm, I have nothing to say.
So over to the girls,
Why una too like tall guys? I think they feel protected around tall giys |

iwaeda: Chelsea travel to Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon to face Leeds for the latest edition of a historically spiky rivalry.
While no one in the modern game contains quite the same steel as Ron 'Chopper' Harris, Thomas Tuchel's Blues duked out an explosive encounter with Tottenham just last weekend. Such was the boiling fury at Stamford Bridge, the wiry German received his marching orders following a handshake staring contest at the final whistle.
Here's the XI Tuchel may send out against Leeds while he serves his suspension this coming weekend. Let me park here |
