phadriz:... and submit the report as at when due. That is not so difficult, don't we have hundreds of company doing exactly that? |
megawealth01:If this is true, for the company to get to the next level, then it is time for him to become the Chairman and hire a CEO that will take the company further and make Energy money for him and the other shareholders. |
BabsO2:Big businesses are good and the world needs the entrepreneurs. However, we need good/great entrepreneurs and not cowboys. Coyboys can run their private enterprises and choose to report whenever they like or not to report at all, it is private. If you list your company and you take money from the public, you must abide by the regulations in the best way possible. What the world needs are people who have regards for established standards and order. Reporting falls in the purvue of the CFO, if the CEO cannot get his CFO to do just that, then he should not be the CEO except he is the one stopping the CFO. |
Streetinvestor2:Foreign reserve is foreigh reserve as someone said. It is like a switch and it is transactional, it is either there as an amount or not whereas the exchange rate is neither a direct switch or transactional in nature, it is affected by several factors. The calculation and the reporting is not also at the same time. If foreign reserve is increasing consistently for some time, and all others things are equal, the positive impact will be visible on the exchange rate and it will be stable and sustainable. |
Truth be told, OANDO needs to sit up, a listed company with over N 1T market capitalization should not be having these type air about defaulting in scheduled reporting around them. We are talking about a multinational, highly capitalised company in one of the most established sectors in the world. The management should start by firing the CFO and replace him with a professional who is ready for world/best-in-class standards. |
Zxcvbnmghtr:Thank you. Most people didn't read that it is a private farm and not government farm. We just like blaming government for everything. The money to set up that farm is less than what we do blow in a party in one weekend as a people. Most of our cities are full of drnking joints and those in that businesses are becoming billionaires because the business is good. What national productivity like this do Nigerians embark on? ... let me stop please. |
YorubaForum:... he was killed with Adekunle Fajuyi in Ibadan. What next..... |
fxtree:It doesn't matter what you earn, you are missing out if you do not invest in equity, either locally or globally. You will be good with dollar denominated stocks. Google, Tesla, Amazon, Nvidia etc. There is a thread for it on Niaraland, go there and equip yourself. However, since you live in Nigeria, I advise that you should also invest some money in Nigeria stocks maybe about 10% of your investible funds. Buy solid stocks that pays dividend and watch it grow. |
Deadlytruth:It seems MB is not available. |
wegevv:Well. I used to think so until I spoke to several UK citizens and found out that many people actally wanted Brexit even though there weren't much justifications to non-UK citizens. The poll was actually a true representative of what the people wanted. The major problem is the preparation for it's implementation wasn't as solid as the politicians made the citizens believe. |
BreconHills:Thank you. ... and in the future, only those young seemingly obscured people behind those old and experienced politicians will take over from them and not social media analysts/commentators/complainers. |
Some of us are tired of hearing about Subsidy removal. I have been hearing that as a teenager under military administration. I am above forty years old now and the same is still being discussed. Other issues we should be tired of are: Turn around maintenance East-West Road Second Niger Bridge (Thank God we will rest from this one). Railroad construction Ballot box devaluation etc Haba, move on Nigeria. Let it be removed once and for all for ever. We will survive. What we need to do is to hold our leaders accountable, first by taking them up on excessive extravagance as public officers like having several expensive cars and endless entourage/escorts etc. |
Let me attempt to answer some of these questions as I know it. Others may please add. PNomsule: |
Supremos:Oga, with due respect, at times, it is better to be a little bit thorough and check things out so that one will not be giving misleading information unknowingly. In section 134 of the constitution, it is 2 conditions that were stated and not 3 as you put it here. Your No 2 and 3. are put together as the second condition in the constitution. it will be misleading for you to put them as 3 separate conditions instead of 2 the way the constitution put it. Presenting the conditions as 3 the way you put it here will require little or no argument but that is not how the constitution put it. Puting it as just 2 conditions in the consitution requires experts interpretation. That is why we need to leave the interpretation of the second condition to the judiciary to clarify once and for all so that this won't be an issue in the future when similar situation arises. Please see a screenshot of the constitution you quoted below.

Mimiwems2:It is good you have defined your own strategy for investing. It will help you to focus when other people are expressing their own. I am not aware of any company that pays dividend weekly but dividend-paying US companies pay monthly, quarterly or annually. Instead of giving you fish, it is better to teach you how to fish. Kindly google dividend paying companies and do a little research to get a list by yourself. You can check a couple of sites, compare the results and make your decision. You can share your results here so that people can give further advice. Please note that if I am to give you direct answer/list, I will do exactly what I have asked you to do, "Google it". |
Perewenkle1:Oga, I don't know if you are a lawyer or not but I am not and I keep learning everyday from experts and technocrats in various area. The former Chief justivce that is best positioned, experienced and informed on the issue of constitution and law has explained the dual citizenship and electroal office elaborately, you may check his interview with Arise News from the link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaM2tFXKhGo Let's have a learning mindset and continue our lives. |
judatech:Thank you for asking. God will deliever us in this country. I was an eye witness of similar thing in a remote town in UK. A woman slumped, hit her head on an iron bar, she was lifeless on the floor. People rushed to her, they gave her water, another brought cloth and another called an ambulance. The ambulance came in 7 minutes, took the woman away and 3 days later she came around healthy with bandage on her head. thanking everybody in that area for their help that her life was restored. Why should people be looking like that when there is a vulnberable person that really need their help? This is not because of Buhari, Wike, APC, PDP or LP, this is what Nigerians are becoming. We have to start doing better please. |
yok:Sir, it will be good if you keep this type of information (in red above) to yourself in your heart and not display publicly to people like everyone of us who invests in the stockmarket does. It distracts and put people under unecessary pressure. Thanks. |
OakPearl:Chief, Let me post this to encourage you that you have people that are listening. I got 55% of GFAI already. (As a matter of fact, I have picked some hints from you that really paid off in the past. Kindly keep up the good work.

openmine:Oga, some US states are in the league of countries. Texas is almost as big as the whole Nigeria in land area and much bigger in economy. Texas Land area - 695,662 km² Texas GDP - $2.0 trillion (2021) Nigeria Land Area- 923,768 km² GDP 432.3 billion USD (2020) |
Boogiebee:I don't usually comment but I do read from time to time but I belief you are sincere and I think I can assist with my token. 1. Watch this Youtube video from alux.com - (15 Things To Do If You Get Rich All of a Sudden). Link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVJOyArnq3s 2. Pick a pen and paper and write down all the suggestions you have seen from Nairalanders and review/meditate on it. They wil give you some ideas on Financial Education. Having said the above, this is what I will do if I find myself in your exact situation. 1. I will not quit my job. I will continue working like nothing has happened. 2. I will change my brother's 6m in US Dollar and invest it with Stanbic IBTC Dollar denominated Money Market fund. You can walk into any StanbicIBTC Asset Management office to open an account. 3. I will do the same for my own N 8m. 4. I will not do any investment or business with the money until a minimum of 6 months. 5. I will get financially educated and review all suggestions above and choose 2 or 3 viable ideas and invest 20% of the money and see how it goes for at least a year. I belief If I followed thses 5 steps, by 12 months I will be in a better situation to make decision on the remaining 80%. I wish you the best. |
I have read this thread sometimes back but I am here today to share my experience. I used an Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as Tokunbo cars as I was advised that it is better to buy Honda/Toyota even if they are Tokunbo than to buy brand new Kia/Hyundai cars. After a couple of issues with the tokunbo cars, I followed my heart and went for brand new Kia sportage in 2006. Today my first Sportage is 7 years, it has done 82,000 kilometers, with regular servicing, I haven't changed anything in the engine, I have only replaced the AC compressor, ball joints and some bushings in the arm. I bought another one for my wife in 2010 and that one has also done about 45,000 kilometers, the only thing we have changed in it was a bearing in the the back axle. I am not sure any other brand can do more than this. IMO, KIA/Hyundai cars are not inferior to T/H cars, they may even be superior. |
I have an idea of how to help but may need you to do a business plan and possibly get partners. Let me know if you are open to that. Cheers! |
Friends, I have been having some disturbances in the past few days and I decided to bring it up here to seek your opinion so as to make a better decision. I have a plot of land on a tarred road in a developing residential area and I have been preoccupied with the desire to build a block of flat with 4 nos 2 bedroom flats on it. Suddenly, I was taken abark that a block of shops will be better considering the level of furnishing the flats will require and the simplicity of the shops. FYI, a 2 b/r flat goes for 400K in that area now and once completed, I hope to earn 4 x 400K = 1.6M per annum as rent (all things being equal). On the other hand, a shop goes for 15K per month i.e. 15K x 12 = 180K per annum. The land can also take up to 10 shops which is 180 x 10 = 1.8M per annum as rent. I am assuming that the 2 styles will cost the same amount to construct. With your experience, is there any other thing I need to take into consideration? Or I should just go by the straight arithmetic above that shop is better? Please advise. Cheers! |
I sent you an e-mail already. Please reply. |
Hi Adesoji et al, I urgently need your advice on this. My wife (using the passport with her maiden name)and I applied for US visiting visa in March but was denied. We thought the major reason was because she was pregnant anyway. Now, we are planning to visit US next year with our baby this time around. My question is this, will it be okay if we apply again with my wife's new passport that now bears our SURNAME? Does this pose any issue that may work against us? Kindly advise. I am sorry, it is not about DV but the contributions I have seen here assures me that I can get a reliable and honest answer here. |
How much is the manual? Could you also provide an e-mail address? |
