This is a very interesting and educative thread. The most important thing here is the buyer's education. I noticed that these brand new car sellers in Nigeria always says the truth at all times in giving specifications of the vehicles on display but the buyers hardly take notice of it. My experience, I took interest in Kia sportage and decided to buy one but after visiting a couple of Kia Centres I was not satisfied with the specifications that were brought into Nigeria compared with those ones that were described in the manufaturer's international websites. (to give a little datail - like six airbags compared to only one or two, 2.7 ltr engine compared to 2 litre engine, cruise control, tyre pressure management system, etc). I decided then that it won't be a good value for my money. I ended up importing brand new one from the US with my desired specifications. I saw this as a value for my money, it's been running for 3 years now and still performing great. Ironically some KIA brands (like Opirus) are very loaded even in Nigeria. Buyers need to define what they want and go for it and they shouldn't complain too much on the specs because it has been there before they dropped their money on it. Our complaints should be to the government who allowed such vehicles to enter the country. Do anyone know which govt. agency we can channel such complaints to? Please fire on. |

Those of us who are criticizing the EFCC on this issue, I don't know what you will do if you work for EFCC and you saw an allegation of 4.6 billion money Besides, money laundring and tax evasion is still part of Economic and Financial Crimes. What we need from EFCC is to be consistent, thorough and not to spare a group of |

@backnbeta and co. "who believe all legislative houses do brawl" Please give us a break about brawls in legislative houses all over the world. The issue here is the actual bone of contention for the brawlings. Other houses brawls over 'electoral reform bill', 'state budget' , 'peace agreement' etc and our own house is brawling over a case of corruption by only one member. TOO BAD. The house missed an opportunity to demonstrate to Nigerians that we can rely on them for a better Nigeria. It's really disgusting. |
I have seen NAHCO moved from N6 in November 2006 to N42.52 yesterday. The only place it has been going since then is UP UP and UP. It has produced a whopping and incredible 608 % appreciation within the period. It's like N1m turning to N6m in just 4 months. Do anybody know why this is so? What happened suddenly? Will it continue like this? and will new enterants still benefit? How can oe know and discover opportunities like this in the future?

To All, It is unfortunate that some people do get there degrees in Nigeria through dibious means. I stopped blaming anybody for such a discrimination when I happened to be on a recruitment panel for an organization I once worked with. Could you beleive that for 10 positions in Nigeria and a little advertisement, you will get nothing less that 20,000 responses. What will you do if you happened to be on such a panel? The law of demand and supply as related to price comes to play! "With a very high demand and fixed supply, the prices go up". You will use the fastest means to reduce the number by increasing the requirement(or cut off point)!! That was what was happening for most recruitment. especially in most highly competitive companies. As one of us said, look around for good openings with 2-2 and go for it OR for some favoured few, show that you are good enough and are made of quality stuff or even better that those with 2-1. As another said again, go for 2nd degrees, most companies that insisted on 2-1 will consider 2-2 with a Masters, even many oil companies will do. Cheers! Always be positive and you will get to the top. |
New Cars Versus Tokunbo Cars In Nigeria! Which One Is Better? I Compared New Cars and Tokunbo Cars 3 years ago and I settled for a Toyota Camry, 1996 Model Tokunbo Car. The car has done pretty well I am seriously considering buying another car. Which is better, Tokunbo/Brand New? Please bear in mind the cost, comfort, reliability, cost of ownership, security etc |
Nairalanders, Please advise Assuming you have the collateral, Will you take a loan to invest in Shares even if the interest rate is 23% per annum? If you can, how do you guaranty that you will make up to the interest and still make some profits? |
Try Their website here: http://www.transcorpnigeria.com Their investors' forum here : http://www.transcorpnigeria.com/investor_rel.asp Most times it is good to get more into on a thing before being pessimistic about it except when probing to get more information. I believe in Transcorp and hope to get at least the minimum stock. |
