jteku: UNITED STATES AMBASSADOR PRESENTS LETTER OF OFFER AND ACCEPTANCE FOR SUPER TUCANO AIRCRAFT TO NIGERIAN AIR FORCE
The United States (US) Ambassador to Nigeria, Stuart Symington, today presented the Letters of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) in respect of the A29 Super Tucano Aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The LOA represents the official US Government offer to sell US defence articles and services to the Nigerian Government. Speaking while presenting the LOA to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, at NAF Headquarters in Abuja, the US Ambassador noted that peaceful existence in Nigeria was strategic to the security of the entire West African Sub-Region in particular and the entire world at large. Accordingly, Ambassador Symington expressed the commitment of the US Government to helping Nigeria completely defeat the Boko Haram Terrorists and also eliminate all forms of terrorism from its territory. In addition, he conveyed the US Government’s belief that the capacity of the NAF could greatly be enhanced by the acquisition of the Super Tucano Aircraft. According to him, the US Government would therefore continue to support the NAF in its capacity building efforts, including the timely supply of needed aircraft spares. The US Ambassador also indicated the readiness of relevant US Government officials to work with NAF officials to facilitate the early delivery of the aircraft once payment had been made. In that regard, officials of both the US Government and the NAF would be meeting in early January 2018 to jointly study the LOA prior to subsequent endorsements by both parties.
The CAS, while receiving the LOA, expressed the appreciation to the US Government for its steady support towards sustaining NAF air operations. He also praised the personal commitment of the US Ambassador to ensuring that the Super Tucano Aircraft deal became a reality. Air Marshal Abubakar agreed with Ambassador Symington that the wellbeing of Nigeria was closely linked to those of other African countries, and indeed the entire world, as terrorism is a global phenomenon, which had to be confronted by all stakeholders. He then reassured the US Ambassador of the commitment of the NAF to the stipulated deadlines in the LOA. Furthermore, the CAS assured the US Ambassador that the NAF would ensure the readiness of proposed home base of the Super Tucano Aircraft in Nigeria before the aircraft’s delivery. He further said that the NAF would nominate and prepare all the pilots and maintenance crew to be trained on the Super Tucano Aircraft, ahead of their training in the US.
It is expected that the LOA would have been signed and necessary payments made before 20 February 2018 to ensure the commencement of production of the NAF’s Super Tucano Aircraft. It would be recalled that the US State Department had earlier approved the sale of 12 x A29 Super Tucano Aircraft to the NAF to further aid the nation’s counterinsurgency campaign.

Ecstasy154: Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo says the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) bears the cost of fuel subsidy and not the federal government.
NAN reports that the vice-president clarified this on Monday while answering questions from journalists after visiting the Oando and Total depot in Apapa, Lagos.
“NNPC is trading in fuel; the federal government is not, at the moment, paying for any subsidy. NNPC is trading,” he said.
“If you are buying and selling fuel, you would have to be able to pay for it. So, it’s not a question of government provision for subsidy, the federal government, at the moment, isn’t paying any subsidy.
“And don’t forget that the way that the NNPC trades is that, in many cases, NNPC is actually giving fuel; there is 445,000 barrels of fuel.
“So really what you are seeing, in many cases, is more or less an exchange for PMS. So at the moment NNPC is paying the cost.”
While speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Maikanti Baru, NNPC group managing director, had said that the landing cost of petrol is now N171 as against the official retail price of N145.
TheCable had reported that this would mean that the federal government would have to pay N40.70 as subsidy on every litre of petrol imported to retain the retail price of N145.

Olabenjamen22: Hundreds of Egyptians ransacked a church south of Cairo and called for it to be demolished, the region’s diocese said. The attack on the church in Atfeh, 100 kilometres (60 miles) from the capital, took place on Friday after weekly Muslim prayers, the diocese said on its Facebook page. Several churches, especially ones that have yet to be licenced by the government, have come under attack by local Muslims in the conservative south of the country. The diocese said the Prince Tawadros church had been used for almost 15 years and had applied for a licence under a law passed last year meant to ease permits for new churches. Hundreds of people massed in front of the building, chanting “hostile” slogans and calling for the church to be demolished, it said. “They stormed the place and destroyed what was inside it, after assaulting the Christians there,” the diocese said. Egypt’s Coptic Christians comprise up to 10 percent of the country’s 93 million people and are the Middle East’s largest religious minority. They have come under sectarian attacks and been targeted by jihadists who have killed more than 100 people in church bombings and shootings since last December.

As if Tavor is made in space....He lied that Russian Military uses Tavor...They have SF in Russia using the AK....He should have educated the people on the various types of AK...Some units operate the modern AK...why make it look like the AK is not a good weapon...The men just wasted 9 minutes of my time....I dont support that the Tavor be the primary weapon of our Infantry...We cant afford that now...
Covert1: Meanwhile Paul Biya will soon be on his way out. He has bitten more than he can chew. Doing the white man's bidding in our neighborhood has it's limits. That guy single handedly made Cameroon an 'enemy' of Nigeria. You can't win a proxy war with us. Boko haram despite the recent hit and runs (which has fingerprints) will be history but Ambazonia will become reality and you can't stop it unless we chose to on our terms at a time of our choosing. Biya is a picture of the resentment they have for us.
ambozonia will be a nightmare to but Cameroon n Nigeria.

NwaChibuzor33: A great and wise Saudi - Arabian born multi millionaire called Osama bin Laden once said They violate our land and occupy it and steal the Muslims' possessions, and when faced by resistance they call it terrorism.
In this context, leave the fulani people, their land and their source of income (livestock) alone if you don't want trouble. I was in kwara state some days ago. Where I lodged was a jungle and the fulani's bring their cows there to graze everyday. They were the bestest of friend I've met in a while. We talk, we eat , I even help them fetch water for their cows irrespective of tribe, religion and background. One of them even offered me one of his hot sister for a one night stand. I enjoyed myself like a king.
