Sports / Re: Cameroon Vs Nigeria: Is Rohr The Right Man For Super Eagles AFCON 2022 Campaign? by giles14(m): 5:56pm On Jun 10, 2021
scoredcard247:
- Cameroon vs Nigeria did not produce any goals in their second friendly game played in Austria

- Both sides settled for a 0-0 scoreline and the Indomitable Lions had a game advantage better than the Super Eagles

- Gernot Rohr has won just five out of his 19 friendly matches since he became technical adviser of the national team

Cameroon vs Nigeria ended in a goalless draw as the Indomitable Lions had a best out of two legs, winning one and drawing the other.

On the part of the Super Eagles, it is a time to reflect and go back to the drawing boards to re-strategize the players’ performances.

With the Nation Cup six months away, Nigeria are still lagging behind in terms of blending the whole squad to become strong contenders for the soccer fiesta in January 2022.

Gernot Rohr’s men will begin their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign against Liberia in September 1, and will take on Cape Verde four years later.

The fact about the three-time African champions is that they have not won in their last nine friendlies and since the appointment of Rohr, he has only managed five wins out of 19 test games.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should also pay attention to friendly games not only qualifiers and tournaments.

With the quality of foreign stars in Rohr’s possession, the German gaffer has no excuse to lose some crucial test matches even if a few of the players are not present in the team.

Some African and European countries are not blessed with the amount of talents scattered in all the top leagues in Europe, but they still manage to form formidable squad.

Being the longest serving coach of the national team, Rohr should not be handled with kids glove when executing matches in any capacity for the Super Eagles.

During the era of indigenous coaches, they were not give much time to groom a team to perfection. In fact they work under intense pressure and criticisms from the footballing body and fans.

Rohr could not qualify Nigeria beyond the first round at the 2018 World Cup while the late Stephen Keshi won the AFCON 2013 and with the same squad qualified into the round of 16 at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Late Shuaibu Amodu won two AFCON bronze with the Super Eagles at the 2002 and 2008 AFCON and qualified the team to the South Africa 2010 World Cup, only to be sacked for Swedish Lars Lagerback before the tournament.

Anything less than winning the next AFCON competition should be the target set for Rohr and the next national coach should be employed at local level.

so dem never still sack that man?

Scores flee homes, several houses burnt
*Children also murdered

Suspected Fulani insurgents armed with sophisticated weapons have overrun four council wards in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State and allegedly killed over 100 people.

The attackers also set ablaze several houses, displacing hordes of residents.

Those massacred included women, children and the older people.

The council wards attacked were Mbayongu, Mbatyura/Mberev, Utange and Yoyo.

The attack came less than 24 hours after suspected Fulani militia invaded the Tse-Ancha settlement close to Agan community housing the Abagena IDPs camp during which nine people among them a kindred head of the area were killed.

New Telegraph learnt that in the latest attack, the invaders made incursion into the troubled area on Saturday night and launched the attack which spilled over to Sunday and continued till Monday burning houses and killing people simultaneously.

A resident of one of the affected communities, Mr. Edward Kwaghaondo said the communities have not known peace since the last two months as security agents have allegedly collaborated with the invaders to attack and kill farmers.

“For the past two months, there have been raids and burning of properties and killing of farmers by unknown gunmen.

“These attacks have forced some of the indigenous people to evacuate some of their belongings and families to get shelter in safer places,” he said.

Seems you don't understand how this things work. If that's how terrorism is, then no country would fight it for years. Let me try explain it to you.

Killing 21,000 fighters in a year is different from killing the same number in 9 years, this makes it 2,300 killed per year and 194 killed per month on average basis.

It takes only 2 to 3 weeks to train a fighter, So if you kill 194 per month, bokoharam would recruit 300 the next month, we all saw how they were rushing for recruitment last year after the march-may offensive to the point of even recruiting children and elderly men.

Terrorists do not train their fighters like conventional armies do, if you kill 5000 Cameroonian soldiers out of 20,000 this year, you might definitely meet 15,000 the next year, but if you kill 5000 terrorists out 20,000 this year, be rest assured you will meet the same 20,000 the next year. That's how it works.

The number of terrorists killed does not win the war against terrorism cos they can easily recruit more men, destroying and capturing their weapons, ammo and equipment wins the war, a terrorist without weapon is just a clown.

Figures of Terrorists killed per year since 2011
2011- 109
2012- 556
2013- 2,892
2014- 5,625
2015- 3,618
2016- 1,939
2017- 1,007
2018- 1,237
2019- 1,941
2020- 2,409

so that ineffective buffoons administration killed more terrorist than the present effective administration.

Toju200:

The Ministry of Defence has purchased equipment for the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the Defence Intelligence Agency worth $99.5m (N37.9bn), out of the $1bn approved by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Sunday PUNCH can authoritatively report.

Buhari had told the National Assembly in 2018 that he ordered the payment of $496m to the United States Government for the purchase of 12 Tucano aircraft ahead of legislative approval to withdraw the $1bn fund from the Excess Crude Account.

Documents obtained by our correspondent showed that the Ministry of Defence subsequently awarded contracts worth a total of $99,538,467.23 for the military equipment.

The ‘Certificate of No Objection for Award of Contract’ issued by the Bureau of Public Procurement (Ref No. BPP/S.1/Vol.XV/19/114), dated January 16, 2020, referred to the source of funding for the military hardware as “$1bn under the Intervention Fund subject to Mr President’s approval,” while indicating that the Ministry of Defence was the implementing ministry/agency.

The document was signed by the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Mamman Ahmadu; and BPP Director, Compliance, Certification and Monitoring, Ishaq Yahaya.

The Ministry of Defence, on September 17, 2018, also approved a ‘Letter of Award of Contract for the Procurement of Critical Equipment – Two Types of Vehicles, Reutech Surveillance Equipment, Three Types of Weapons and Three Types of Ammunitions for the Nigerian Navy’ (Ref No. MOD/PROC/SIF/2018/1/2).

Items listed under the ‘Vehicles’ category included 10 units of T-90 Tank Second Generation ($43.68m), and 10 units of BREM-4 Armoured Recovery ($20,794,619.56).

Under ‘Surveillance Equipment,’ the document quoted 20 units of Ground Surveillance Radar equipment – Reutech ($7,041,245.91), while the ‘Weapons’ category comprised 20 units of 81mm mortar ($1,050,600), 120 units of MG-127-DSHK-M guns ($2,715,553.80), and 2,012 units of AKMS rifles ($1,608,151.36).

Under ‘Ammunitions,’ the items listed included 8,141 units of 81mm Mortar Bombs ($9,955,615.97), 1,103,000 rounds of 12.7mmx108mm Cartridges ($7,157,367), and 3,259 units of 122mm Grad (Rocket) ($5,535,313.73).

However, in a letter with Ref No. MOD/PROC/SIF/2018/1/2 dated February 5, 2020, the ministry sought to replace the $43.68m T-90 tanks in the previous document with a new list of items for the same amount.

The document is titled ‘Letter for Award of Contract for the Procurement of Critical Equipment for the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and the Defence Intelligence Agency: Replacement of the 10 T-90 Tanks with 60 Legion MRAP Including DSHK Guns, Codan HF Vehicular Radio and Automatic Turret with Pre-Shipment Inspection; and 24 Phantom II APC Including Pre-Shipment Inspection, Complete with Spares, Training and Maintenance.’

Under the ‘Legion MRAP’ category, the document listed 60 units each of Legion MRAP vehicles ($475,587.42), 12.7mm DSHK AA Guns ($18,750), Codan Radios ($6,920), and Armoured Turrets ($29,631).

Under the ‘Phantom II APC’ category, the document listed 24 units each of Phantom II Armoured Personnel Carriers ($385,208.67), 12.7mm DSHK AA Guns ($18,750), Codan ($6,920), and Turret ($29,631).

The sub-totals of the Legion MRAP ($530,888.42) and Phantom II APC ($440,509.67) added up to $971,398.09. However, the total contract sum was put at $43,680,000, including ‘Total for MRAP and Phantom II APC including pre-shipment inspection’ ($42,425,537.10), and ‘Balance for Spares + Training + Maintenance’ ($1,254,462.90).

Further investigation showed that several shipments of some of the listed equipment were obtained by the military with certificates of delivery issued by Brig-Gen B.A. Ilori or Brig-Gen M.T. Jinadu, for the Chief of Army Staff.

According to one letter dated May 29, 2019, the Nigerian Army, in Abuja on May 20 and 22, 2019, took delivery of 2012 AKMS rifles, 70 DSHK 12.7mm guns, 250 CZ 75 pistols and 550 units of 122mm Grad rockets.

In another document dated November 29, 2019, the Army confirmed receipt of 3,259 122mm Grad rockets, 20 40x46mm LV HE cartridges, 160 7.62mmx54mm ball-rimmed cartridges, 167 7.62mmx51mm metal link cartridges, and 30,939 7.62mmx39mm ball special cartridges.

Also, a letter dated January 31, 2020, indicated the delivery of 20 GSRS through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on December 26, 2019. Another dated September 3, 2020, said the Army received 84 DSHK guns on August 11, 2020, and “found to be new and suitable for operational use.”

While a January 5, 2021 letter showed that the Army took receipt of 24 Phantom II APCs on December 14, 2020, another dated January 6, 2021 said 589,337 rounds of 12.7mmx108mm cartridges were delivered on December 12, 2020 and found to be “new and suitable.”

A document dated March 23, 2021, also confirmed the delivery of 20 81mm mortars and 8,141 81mm mortar bombs were delivered on September 18, 2020.

Sunday PUNCH gathered that several items had yet to be delivered as international flights came to a standstill owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Federal Government finally lifted the restriction on flights in September 2020, six months after the ban took effect.

A Supplementary Agreement between the Federal Government and the contractor dated August 12, 2020 said, “Further execution of the contract has been stalled since February 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the embargo on international flights that has prevented the carrying out of the mandatory pre-shipment inspection by the authorised representatives of the buyer (Federal Government).”

Based on the contract awarded by the defence ministry, the items yet to be delivered include 10 BREM-4 Armoured Recovery vehicles ($20,794,619.56), 50 MG-127-DSHK-M guns ($1,131,480.75), 513,663 12.7x108mm cartridges ($3,333,159.21), 84 Codan radios ($13,840), and 84 Armoured Turrets ($59,262). The total cost of the remaining items is $25,332,361.52.

naija na una sabi.if they award proforce the contract for MRAP & APC would nigeria seize to exist?

It's exactly 5 months now since I birthed this business. Exactly November 14th I started a business passion in the BEAUTY market.

On this day my barbershop was birthed... But we have barely operated for upto a month with hitches here and there.

First it starts with the non availability of professional barbers to run the business, all the barbers are either not interested or cannot give it their 100% when they get the job.

Many are frustrated with the poor patronage which is expected of any business or according to an article I read, they are "jealous" of their employer (still trying to figure this out).

My barbershop gulped me a whooping N1m.

All efforts via advertisement and physical search have proved barren as no barber has the patience to work or they are either no longer interested in a skill they learnt (instead have decided to rock the high-way(Yahoo)).

Well all said and done I want persons to know this and learn a lesson off my experience. Never invest in a business you have no skill (training) about.

As the Rent still counts, I continue to be hopeful because I invested premium ideas and hopeful I will get a patient barber to run my business while I attend to other stuffs.
I have good contracts with provision for accomodation for my employees but it's still difficult to get one

Culturally and linguistically East Ukraine is considered Russian if you grew up in Eastern Ukraine in the 50s,60s and 70s You spoke Russian as a second language , if you were academically gifted you were likely to go to Top Russian University. My Ex Boss was born in the UKRAINE , however he would tell you he is Russian, What's the difference he would say.
It would be a horrible mistake for Ukraine to ATTEMPT) to join NATO , in the belief that Russia would not invade Ukraine ( They would) and the US WILL NOT INTERVENE on a MILITARY level.
Two years ago PUTIN re- built A MASSIVE bridge in record time linking Russia directly with Ukraine , the Black Sea is patrolled and owned and has been rechristened the Russian Navy.
Since last month IVAN has sent a fully supported kitted out division to its border with UKRAINE " for training purposes".
Next Month Biden and Putin will meet ( my prediction part 1)
My prediction part 2):
Ukraine will not join NATO because the US will advise them it is not a good idea.
My prediction part 3):
With half of the Country on their side it would take IVAN will take a week to overrun UKRAINE ( West Ukraine), but Russia will NOT invade UKRAINE .
russia is too smart for that.

Which ukraine are you talking about. The one in 2021 or 2014. Most takes of the ukrainian army uses oplot-m tanks, where did the nigerian army bought the btr-4 from? Are you serious. The readiness of the ukrainian army presently is far better than what it was in 2021.
As for the ukrainian airforce, most of their aircraft are maintained and upgraded by the ukrainian defense industry.
And please also know the mass of russian army still use the t-72mb3 which is an upgrade from the basic t-72. Only elite units in the russian armed forces use the t-90 and not even the modernized t-90ms which india is buying. Yeah Russia is a force to reckon with but don't underestimate the ukrainians.
is it the same T_84 that was ordered and wanted by the thais and the pakistani, or is it the same btr4 regretted by the iraqis. Go check well the ukrainians are a shadow of themselves.

I don't think It would be that easy for Russia to sweep easily Ukraine aside. Yeah, Ukraine would be defeated in a conflict with Russia but it won't be an easy defeat and Russia would have a lot to lose in such a conflict. Remember if the Ukrainian army isn't that of 2014 and if Russia had not intervened, Ukraine would have crushed those separatists by now.
which ukraine , that country is a shadow of it's self.
Relying on the west for hands out,or it's btr 60,T-64s and Su-27s .

As long as you're practising religion, you can not see it's foolishness. Even when you see it, you make excuse for your faith/God.

I thank God when I converted, I wasn't a Muslim but a Christian. Cos if I had applied my level of Christian fanatism to Islam, I would likewise have been a terrorist.

And thats the power of religion.
