africaken254: the trade between america/egypt is worth around 7 billion dollars while yours with america is worth 332 million dollars ,so economically egypt is more important to the US.also militarily egypt buys more american weapons than nigeria, you may be rich but you spend pine nuts when it comes your defence compared to other powerful african economies.so from an american defensive company perspective, your arms import market is dismal are u high on something, our second largest trading partner is China and volume is worth over $12b, den tink of d US how much it's worth.and egypt don't buy weapon from USA ,it's arms deals are with russia, France and China ,d weapons gotten from American is due to the camp Davis agreement with Israel. wer egypt get $1.5b worth of weapons every year such as d Abrams tank, scale down f16s etc while Israel gets close to $7.5b so leave dose trash of trade or weapon selling and buying. |

rugged7: First MRAPs Arrive in Egypt Jen Judson, Defense News 1:11 p.m. EDT May 12, 2016
AMMAN, Jordan — The first shipment of mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles (MRAP) from the US has been delivered to the Egyptian military, according to the US Embassy in Egypt.
While the number of vehicles delivered was not stated, it is the first round of MRAPs out of 762 the US plan to send to Egypt.
According to the embassy, “this new capability will be used to combat terrorism and promote stability in the region.”
And Maj. Gen. Charles Hooper, a senior defense official at the US Embassy in Egypt, said: “The delivery of these MRAPs to Egypt provides a crucial capability needed during these times of regional instability and is part of the continuing strong relationship between the US and Egypt.”
The US is giving Egypt the MRAPs free of charge as part of the Pentagon’s Excess Defense Articles grant program.
The US Army needs less MRAPs as it attempts to wind down its operations in Afghanistan. MRAPs were rapidly developed to protect troops from improvised explosive device blasts in the country.
While Egypt is receiving that equipment for free, the country’s safety and security market is “flourishing,” Cherine Maher, the head of regional safety and security at the US Embassy in Jordan, said May 10 at SOFEX, a special operations exhibition in Amman. Egypt’s defense market is expected to grow by 15 to 20 percent during the next few years, she said.
“Egypt is facing a lot of challenges, especially in terms of border control and whether it’s from the west or the east or the north or the south, so the main project that is going on is border and perimeter control,” Maher said, which means the country really wants bomb detection, jammers and improvised explosive device diffusers.

Politics › Re: London APC Blasts David Cameron by giles14(m): 4:48pm On May 11, 2016 |
olillywales: The London branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also issued a statement condemning British Prime Minister David Cameron's recent comments terming Nigeria a "fantastically corrupt" nation.
Signed by the APC London Press Secretary, Adenike Lucas, the statement said President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to rooting out corruption in the nation.
“The rash statement by the Prime Minister and leader of the conservatives, David Cameron, earlier today fails to credit President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort in fighting corruption," it said.
“President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who should arrive in the UK shortly for the anti-corruption summit hosted by David Cameron has received commendation from the Prime Minister in the past and other world leaders over his stance against corruption.
“During the 2015 Election campaign, PMB as he is fondly known pledged to fight corruption and he has not reneged on his promise.
“It should be noted that within a year of being sworn-in, President Buhari has achieved a lot in his fight against corruption in Nigeria.
“President Buhari is known for his zero tolerance against corruption. He has made major efforts to change the image of the nation within and outside the country; and this government’s policies are working. In the recent list of the top 10 most corrupt countries released, Nigeria was not on the list.
“Even while the Prime Minister made the comment about Nigeria being one of the “fantastically corrupt Countries”, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby quickly corrected him and acknowledged in the presence of the Queen of England that President Buhari “is actually not corrupt and he is doing a great job in Nigeria”.
“Nigeria and indeed the world are aware the new sheriff in town is working to tackle corruption unlike the previous government which allowed corruption to thrive.
“The APC-led government has empowered the anti-corruption agency (EFCC) resulting in several high profile investigations and prosecution of individuals involved in corruption and misappropriation of funds. This is an ongoing process that includes blocking leakages, sensitising the system, re-training of stakeholders amongst other measures put in place to curb corruption.
It is crystal clear to all that President Buhari is determined to root out corruption from the system.
“APC UK and Nigerians in the Diaspora have confidence in the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and believes that the current administration is moving Nigeria forward, away from the rot and decay suffered under the previous administration," it added.

kingsamm: Last month, the leading Telecom provider in Nigeria, MTN revised their data plan prices and also introduced new cool data plans. In this post, I'll be giving you a full list of all these new data plans with prices and activation codes.
Daily Plans
There are two data plans in this category. 30MB for N100 - This plan offered 10MB for the same price before but now it's been upgraded. To activate, dail *104# 100MB for N200 - This plan was also upgraded from 50MB for N200. Meaning there's been a 100% increase! To activate, Dail *113#
MTN weekly Plan There's just one plan in this category and it offers 750MB for N500. Initially, the weekly plan gives you 150MB for N500 and N2000 gives you 750MB. So the new plans gives a 500% value(five times what it was before. To activate, Dail *103# or send 103 to 131.
MTN Monthly Plan
There are four cool plans here. 1.5GB for N1000 - To activate dail *106# 3.5GB for N2000 - To activate, dail *110# 10GB for N5,000 - To activate, dail *116# 22GB for N10000 - To activate, dail *117# The beauty of the monthly plan is that it allows data rollover allowing you to roll all unused data to the next month.
Three Months Plan

overhypedsteve: the world today is beginning to go beyond the concept of present threat to foreseeable threats, Boko Haram was severely mishandled and it created a terrorist bloc in west Africa. That's because during the early days of the Al quada and Taliban insurgent movement African nations were busy using their armies to chase arm robbers and street hudlums they believed the threat from these insurgent group was not real nobody thought of monitoring the Tuaregs in Mali or the bandits in the lake Chad basin area (MNJTF that was supposed to do so had no strategy, structure or support). Now the threats of terrorism is real and we have lost our citizens to their barbaric activities but still yet we have not learnt anything from losing anyone, we have not learnt anything from the Al shabab killings of school students in Kenya and we have not learnt anything from the kidnap of school kids in chibok, what have we done to ensure that this embarrassing tragedies do not repeat themselves? The Nigerian government had a hard time identifying the missing girls and even claimed it was all a propaganda because we do not have a national identification infrastructure that works, and then there was a series of claims and disclaimers and we started begging for foreign aids to rescue the girls(now we know we need advance surveillance and search and rescue platforms, now we know we need knowledge in GeoIntelligence but we use to think it was not in our strategic doctrine to buy high tech stuff but now we need it to rescue our kids and our head of state would have to beg on our behalf)Look at Kenya, what have they done after the university attack are they stationing men to secure institutes of learning round the country or are they just creating rapid responds squads whose primary duty would be VIP protection. we need to start drafting out forseeable threats and building our armed forces to fulfil these roles. What would happen if a rogue state decide to invade a west African anglophone ally what will Nigeria do? What will happen if a Francophone state close to us allow its territory near us to be used for atomic weapon test what will Nigeria do? What will happen if our oil assets in the Gulf of Guinea come under attack by a capable state competing for share in the international oil market what will Nigeria do? What will happen if pirates seize a missile armed frigate and bring it to our coast to effect damages what will Nigeria do? What will happen if Fulani herdsman kidnap young kids from a school in the Mid belt and take them to Neighbouring Mali? What will happen if South Africa comes under a white supremacist regime and our problematic brothers from the south becomes even more problematic, what will happen if the world turned upside down and Africans were the only ones caught unprepared?
What did we put in place to protect the little we have achieved in development over the years? Are we protecting anything at all? 20 super Tucanos as a Nigerian national security objective at the ending phase of a war you fought with four alpha jets? we have the EEZ to protect, we have the Gulf of Guinea to police and all we are thinking of is 12 super tucanos for Boko Haram. Why not give them the money for the jets and beg them to stop fighting? wot of d national christain center? atleast dis is a secular country |

overhypedsteve: @ this point in the anti terror effort with the success already recorded and with Nigeria knowing the fact that the US is seeking for glory credits by selling its equipment to Nigeria, then I think it would be fool hardy to just settle for Tucanos. If the US is not ready to sell us A10 Wathogs then let them forget it. Nigeria will not continue dropping bombs in its territory forever what happens when we are done with Boko Haram will the Tucanos be used as trainers. Super Tucanos? Nonsense.I was in a class on intel management the other day and the good professor talked about the day a submarine showed up in Lagos how the guys in the Nigerian defense head quarters were almost peeing their pants because they knew nothing about its presence in Nigerian waters. Up until this moment nothing have been done about it. But I know that we may buy super Tucanos at the closing phase of a war that we fought the hardest parts with obsolete airframes with much success because there are those who must benefit from each spurious arms deal, those who do not know if there is a national interest to care about. If we need super Tucanos why not buy new ones from Embraer Brasil directly? and the circle continues on oga even if we detected d sub wot can we do, wen our Navy is an OPV navy |
