Osogbo – A 28years old mann, Isa Ibrahim has been arrested by men of the Osun State Police Command for allegedly arranging his father kidnapped over inheritance.

Ibrahim and three others are now cooling their at the police headquarters after they had kidnapped, collected ransom of over N3million from the family and eventually killed the man identified as Adamu Ibrahim, 55 father to Isa.

Narrating the incident to newsmen after the suspects were paraded by the State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye, Isa Ibrahim who is a herdsman told journalists that he did not know that they will kill his father.

According to him, “I only asked them to kidnap him so that we can collect ransom from him and have my own share of the inheritance

“I don’t know that they will kill my father and the reason for my action is due to the disagreement between me and my father over the inheritance.


“Because of this disagreement, my father sent me out parking from his house.

He said, “When my father sent me parking from his house I met Jolaanabi and he told me that the only way I can get my inheritance from my father is to kidnap him.

Jolaanabi explained to me that ransom will be paid and from the ransom the gang will pay him the sum of N500, 000. But after the deal they killed my father and refuse to pay, N500,000 but they paid me N45,000”

“I regret my action because I only want to get his money not his life”

The State Commissioner of Police, Fimihan Adeoye had told newsmen that detectives are after other members of the gang that participated in the dastardly act involving two Togolese who were hired from Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.

Other members of gang arrested by the police are Lateef Bello, a friend to the son of the victim, Raman and Jolaanabi while other are at large.

The Commissioner said while briefing newsmen said that the incident occurred on 19th April 2018 at Araromi, Owode Ede, Osun State

The police boss said “in the course of our investigation our men arrested one Jolaanabi and was charged to court over the matter but eventually he was granted bail.

“But we did not relent with our investigation which helped us to come to the fact that the son of the victim, Isa Ibrahim masterminded the kidnap of his father.

“The son of the victim met with Jolaanabi and his cohorts to help him kidnap his father for them to collect ransom from his father which he will share the ransom paid with the gang but eventually the father died in captive after which the ransom of N3million was collected from the family and the gang gave the victim’s son paltry N45,000.

“Also, the victims friend, Lateef Bello who participated in the crime revealed the reason for killing Amuda Ibrahim.

He said, “ When he was in our den he removed what was used to blindfold his eyes which resulted to identify us , his action infuriated the two Togolese that was hired by Jolaanabi and they killed him.

“Jolaanabi called Rahaman to get two Togolese from Ibadan

According to him, “When he died I realised that I need the kidney, hands and some other part for something.

We chop off his head and dismembered his body to collect the needed part before burying him at a riverside in Owode Ede. After the ransom was collected I was given N800,000” he concluded.

A 27-year-old man, Mr Daniel Bassey, and his wife, Magdalene, have been arrested for trafficking their two-year-old son for N180,000 to an agent in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Parading the couple and 78 other suspects involved in various crimes at the headquarters of the Cross River State, Police Command in Calabar, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, said the duo were arrested on July 23, 2018 in Calabar after a report by the mother of the child.

Inuwa said the mother of the boy reported to the Efut divisional headquarters that her husband took their only son, Moses Bassey, to an unknown person in Port Harcourt through one woman simply known as Mummy and collected some money.

He said, “On July 23, 2018, one Mrs Magdalene Bassey, reported at Efut Divisional Headquarters in Calabar that her husband, Mr Daniel Bassey, took their first son to an unknown person in Port Harcourt through one woman called Mummy.

“The police immediately swung into action and arrested the suspect. During interrogation, the suspect revealed that his wife was a party to the transaction. They are now in police custody to help the police to unravel the cause of this inhuman action and face possible prosecution.”

He said efforts were on by the police to ensure that the baby was recovered.

During an interview with Southern City News on Tuesday, Daniel Bassey, confessed to the crime, adding that he gave out the child as collateral for N180,000 loan to help him pay his house rent .

“I did it based on the debt of N21,000 I collected from a friend to pay my house rent. There is no work in this rainy season and I am jobless. A guy from my area informed me that he knows a woman who lends money to people.

“That my friend told me that I can give out the child as collateral to get the money without necessarily selling him. The woman gave me N180,000 immediately after she received the child.

“After that, my mother in-law came and asked me of the child and I lied to her that I took the baby to my brother for holiday,” he said.

His wife, Magdalene, who hails from Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, admitted that she consented to the act.

She said she agreed to it so that they could solve their financial problems.

The commissioner also paraded 37 suspected armed robbers, 20 suspected cultists, eight suspects for unlawful possession of firearms, five suspects for murder among others.

He assured that the command would continue to work in collaboration with other security agencies and residents in the state with a view to safeguard lives and property in the state.
