The helicopter crash which killed Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four other people probably began with a “major failure of the tail rotor”, a senior air investigator said on Wednesday, Metro reports.

Tony Cable, a former senior investigator at the Air Accident Investigations Branch, assessed poignant footage of the chopper as it descended from the skies at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. Speaking to Sky News’ Kay Burley Show, he alluded to “white pieces” seen “flying off” the helicopter as it left the pitch.

He said, “There’s quite a number of them. (They) could be part of a rotor blade. It’s certainly a possibility, particularly considering what happens after that, which is when the helicopter starts rotating in the opposite direction from the main rotor. This is what you’d expect if you lose tail rotor thrust.

“There is then a five or six second period before the helicopter starts rotating. The normal technique [to avoid this] is to cut the power, the power from the main rotor. ‘But this is clearly way out of control. ‘It’s very consistent with a tail rotor failure. I gather there haven’t been any of such on the AW169 (the helicopter).”

The Leonardo AW169, favoured by executives, millionaires and the emergency services, one of the most advanced in the world. But an experienced helicopter pilot told Leicester Mercury, “If the whole tail rotor shaft goes for instance, the helicopter begins to spin around its main rotors immediately at a tremendous speed.

A young man named Elijah Oluwaseun Kuti has been charged before Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Elijah who was arraigned by The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC was charged on a two-count charge bordering on engaging in computer phishing and possession of fraudulent documents.

Count one reads:
“That you, Elijah Oluwaseun Kuti, on or about the 20th day of July, 2018, at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, knowingly and intentionally engaged in computer phishing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 32 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc)Act 2015.” .

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, G. G. Chia-Yakua, asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the defendant be remanded in prison custody.

However, the defence counsel, Chisom Obikeze, prayed the court for a short date to file an application for bail on behalf of his client.

Consequently, Justice Obiozor adjourned the matter till November 6, 2018 for hearing of the bail application and also ordered the defendant to be remanded in Ikoyi prison.

A US-based Kenyan pastor has been accused of fraud for holding three Pre-wedding fundraisers with two different women within a few months.

Reverend Stanley Mwea, held two pre-wedding fundraisers in May this year, in Baltimore, Maryland and Boston, Massachusetts and an upcoming one in Washington State.

The woman he intended to marry was Susan Kangethe, but as fate would have it, differences arose before they could tie the knot and the wedding was called off.

Soon after that, Rev Mwea then fell in love with another woman, Ms Serah Ndirangu, and the two planned a third pre-wedding, slated for November 10th this year.

This did not go down very well with some Kenyans in the Diaspora, many of who took to social media to make position on the situation.

This comes at a time when Kenyans in different cities in the US have been complaining of rising instances where, after pre-weddings are held, the “love birds” vanish or relocate to different states, never to be seen again.

In an exclusive interview with Kenya Satellite News Network last Thursday, Pastor Serah Ndirangu said she is ready to get married to the man and “those casting doubts on the event are mere detractors whose opinions don’t really matter.”

She said she is well aware of what happened between the previous fiancée and the Reverend and added that the upcoming pre-wedding was her own idea.

“Why do people like poking their noses in other peoples’ affairs? We really don’t care what they are saying…this is our life and no one is being forced to contribute a penny,” she said.

"Our pre-wedding will take place on November 10th “come rain, come shine,” she added .

Today, the Nigerian Senate passed a resolution calling on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend the excessive ATM card maintenance charges being deducted from customers.

This resolution came as part of a motion on the illicit and excessive bank charges on customers accounts, sponsored by Senator Olugbenga Ashafa (Lagos East, APC).

The Senate also called on commercial banks operating in the country to configure their machines to dispense up to N40,000 per withdrawal pending the outcome of the investigation by the Senate committees tasked with investigating the excessive and illicit bank charges.

Speaking on the Motion, the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki said:
“This is a motion that affects the lives of every Nigerian — irrespective of what part of the country you come from or whatever political affiliation you might have.

This is why we are here: to always defend and protect the interests of the Nigerian people.”

The Senate President stated that the Senate must work to ensure that the Senate’s resolutions on the excessive bank charges goes beyond the debate stage, so that whatever action the Upper Legislative Chamber takes, would come into effect.

“This Senate has done this many times before; when there was a hike in the mobile telecommunication data charges, we intervened and put an end to that.

When there were discrepancies and increases in electricity prices, we also took action. We have done this on a number of similar cases.

Therefore, on this, I want us to take effective resolutions,” Saraki said.

A 41-year old man, Sam Francis, has landed in trouble for sexual assault after he cornered a 10-year old girl and attempted to lure her into sex by touching and handling sensitive parts of her body.

Source reports that the incident happened at Femi Ayantunga Crescent in Surulere, Lagos, where they reside.

The police alleged that the suspect, Francis, returned from work, lured the 10-year old victim into his apartment and tried to lure her into a sex romp. He was said to have touched the sensitive parts of her body including her breasts in order to arouse and confuse her but she resisted, raised alarm and informed her parents about what happened.

The matter was reported to the Gender Section of the State Police Command; Francis was arrested and detained for interrogation.
During interrogation, he admitted that he touched her but did not have any sexual contact with her.
However, the police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrates court for sexual harassment on the 10-year old victim.
He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. Christopher John, did not oppose his bail when he was arraigned before the court.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, granted him bail in the sum of the N200,000 with two sureties in like sum who must show evidence of tax payment for three years.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 10th January 2019.
