A Zimbabwean man, 42, on Tuesday, jumped to his death in the Lake Kariba, after thinking that his wife, who he beat up, had died. Lake Kariba is the world’s largest man-made lake and reservoir by volume, reports Wikipedia. The man, whose name was not revealed by police had reportedly thought that he had killed his wife following the assault, yet she had only lost consciousness. National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi, confirmed that the man’s body was later recovered on the shores of Lake Kariba. Nyathi said, “On August 27, 2019, around 12:00 p.m., a 42-year-old male adult in Kariba had a misunderstanding with his spouse at their residence. “The male adult struck his wife with an unknown object and she lost consciousness. “The man fled from the scene and his body was later found on the shores of Lake Kariba. The woman was taken to hospital where she was treated and later discharged. We reiterate that members of the public should not resort to violence when embroiled in domestic disputes.” See more; http://gistmore.com/zimbabwean-man-commits-suicide-thinking-wife-he-assaulted-was-dead

Twenty-five people have been killed and about a dozen others injured in an attack on a bar in the Mexican city of Coatzacoalcos, apparently overseen by a man who had been recently arrested but released. “The criminals went in, closed the doors, the emergency exits, and set fire to the place,” said Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the president of Mexico, at his daily morning news conference. Prosecutors initially said the fire killed eight women and 15 men and injured 13 people. López Obrador said the death toll had risen to 25, but did not specify the gender of the victims or the number of injured. Veracruz state police said the Tuesday night attack targeted the “Bar Caballo Blanco”. “This is the most inhuman thing possible. It is regrettable that organized crime acts in this manner. It is more regrettable that there may be collusion with authorities” López Obrador said. Governor Cuitláhuac García has since identified the chief suspect as a man known as “La Loca” and gave his name as Ricardo “N’’ because officials no longer give the full names of suspects. García said the man had been detained by marines in July, but was released after being turned over to the state prosecutor’s office. A consultant physician, Dr Adeyemi Ayeni, has died while trying to rescue two electrocuted teenagers in the Surulere area of Lagos. The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, August 11, 2018, at No. 68 Bank Olemoh Street, off Akerele Street, Surulere. PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased had gone to visit members of his extended family during the Eid-el-Kabir. It was gathered that Ayeni was trying to rescue two teenagers, who had suffered electric shock in the compound of the family house, when he was also electrocuted. While the teenagers were rescued, efforts to revive the doctor proved abortive. When our correspondent visited the family house, the wife and sister of the deceased were too distraught to talk. However, a family source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the 51-year-old Ayeni, who was resident in Nasarawa State, came visiting with his nuclear family in line with his yearly tradition. He added that the deceased already bade neighbours farewell for his return journey when the incident happened. The source said, “Doctor came to visit his family members, who still live here in Surulere, during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. Though he was a Christian, he used to come around to celebrate with us yearly even after our parents had passed away. “He was supposed to leave on Sunday and he already bade neighbours goodbye. He was just taking a nap when someone woke him up that two persons had been electrocuted. “I guess he was not yet conscious when he grabbed them and he was also electrocuted in the process. The teenagers are now okay, but by the time the doctor was taken to hospital, he was pronounced dead. He was taken to two other hospitals, but they couldn’t revive him. Family members couldn’t accept the reality of his death dead and they tried different methods to revive him but none worked.” When the state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, was contacted, he said the incident was not reported to the police. Operatives of the joint military intervention force, code-named Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have uncovered another firearms manufacturing plant in Benue State. The operatives also successfully arrested the arms manufacturer alongside nine others, including a wanted alleged kidnap kingpin and cattle rustlers operating between Benue and Nasarawa states axis. Parading the suspects at the OPWS headquarters in Makurdi, the Force Commander, Major General Adeyemi Yekini, said six of the suspects were arrested in Nasarawa State, while four others were apprehended in Benue State. He explained that the arms manufacturing plant and the fabricator, Shekwa Terna, were discovered in Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State, following a tip-off. General Yekini noted that “our operation is currently centered on breaking the supply chain of weapon proliferation in the country, because the increasing spate of arms manufacturing is alarming and it is fuelling criminal activities in the country. “We are targeting weapon manufacturers as a way of breaking the supply chain with a view to reducing the amount of weapons in circulation and curtailing the spate of armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country.” He added that Seidu Muhammadu, a notorious kidnap kingpin and cattle rustler, along with some of his accomplices, were nabbed in Nasarawa State while Moses Dzever, a gang member of the wanted militia leader, Terwase Akwaza, alias Gana, with one other member responsible for Gana’s logistics, was also arrested in Benue. The arms manufacturer, who confessed to the crime, said he took over the business from his elder brother after he was arrested by the military months backs. In his words: “I learned the work from my elder brother, who had earlier been apprehended. After his arrest, I took over the business. I was sleeping in my house when they came and arrested me. I sell the rifles to people in my community, while I sell the pistols to a client from Onitsha. “Sometimes, when my client from Onitsha comes, he buys up to 15 weapons at once. So far, I have sold over 50 weapons since I started. But I now regret my action and wished I never went into this in the first place.” See more here; http://gistmore.com/nigerian-army-uncovers-gun-factory-in-benue-state-arrests-manufacturer-and-9-others
