Girl allegedly turns into a snake after alighting from a Benz, today, at Uselu, Benin Edo State.

According to the residents, some suspected yahoo boys dropped the girl and she turned to a snake.

The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in Osun State has been thrown to mourning following the death of a student identified as Opeyemi Grace Dara.

The deceased who was in the Department of English and Literature was said to have committed suicide after a dose of lethal substance popularly known as snipper.

Although the details of the incident were still sketchy, our correspondent learnt that she took her life following the poor academic performance.

But the authorities of the institution confirmed that the deceased committed suicide due to depression occasioned by poor academic records.

A copy of her academic records obtained from her page on the school portal and made available to PUNCH indicated that she had many outstanding courses.

She was said to be having five outstanding courses and 12 Special Electives.

A source said, “A student in the Department of English and Literature at OAU in Ile-Ife, Opeyemi Grace Dara, whose set finished their final year exams just last semester has committed suicide through the consumption of the notorious snipper on Friday. She was in the last graduating set; however, she had some outstanding courses. The department in mourning mood.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of OAU, Segun Olanrewaju, confirmed the incident to our correspondent and promised that the institution would investigate the incident and make its findings public.

He also warned students against taking their lives because of poor academic performance.

Olanrewaju said, “We sympathise with the parents and guardian of the deceased called Dara. We just want our students and young ones to know that depression is not a thing they should encourage, no matter the situation or circumstance they find themselves.

“Some people in the past have passed through the same situation and circumstances and came out clean. Now, suicide can never be an option and people, especially the young ones who believe that taking their own lives is an act of gallantry should know that it is not.

“We want to appeal to students, particularly OAU students, to take things easy. Any child that fails, that is why the University says ‘you can rerun a course, you can resit a course’, people out there also face challenges and when you are in school, failure or repetition of a course or particular subject is also part of the challenges students must face.

“So, those who are brilliant are not brilliant because they are brilliant. It is circumstantial; so we sympathise with her parents, guardians, friends, and well-wishers. The University will get to the root of the incident and get back to the public.”

A South African man was left stunned with the state of his car which was stripped in 3 hours by robbers in Johannesburg.

@Shange033 in his tweet also disclosed that the auto parts which had barcodes and identification numbers were all left on the road. He tweeted;

Stolen within 3 hours found but the stripping job dammm joburg ... May I add anything with barcode and vehicle identification was left on the road.

A woman identified as Mrs Gbemisola Alabi was kidnapped while out jogging around Monastery road near Novare mall - shoprite Sangotedo Ajah on Sunday, July 28.

Veteran journalist, Soni Irabor, disclosed this in a post on Facebook:

She was kidnapped around Monastery road near Novare mall - shoprite Sangotedo Ajah yesterday (28th July 2019) while she went jogging. We need your help to find her. Frodd beats other housemates to emerge as this week's 'Head Of House.'

After an hour of intense competition amongst the housemates, Frodd emerged victorious as the new head of house.

This week's competition saw housemates compete for one of the most cherished positions in the house.

As usual, the challenge changes every other week and so was this week as Big Brother made the housemates tie a balloon on their ankles. Then the other housemates were to make sure they deflate the ballon of another housemate.

This game saw several housemates leaving early in the game leaving Frodd, Omashola, Jeff and Jackye are the last wo(men) standing.

It didn't take long before Omashola and Jackye got the red cards leaving Frodd and Jeff as the last men standing. It almost got physical as both men tried to outsmart each other to get the coveted prize.

Biggie, however, put a stop to the game and after a short time announced Frodd as the head of house. This makes him the fifth head of house since the show started. He gets 250 Bet9ja coins and the 'head of house' room to himself.

When asked who he would love to share the room with, Frodd told Big Brother that Mike would be his company for the week.

From winning the BET awards for Best International Act and featuring in Beyonce's Lion King Album, Burna Boy says Nigerians love him now because the rest of the world does.

Talking about his album which will be released tomorrow and his music in an interview with Billboard, the Rivers State born singer said his plan is to take his music worldwide and also play in a stadium in China. But first, he’ll embark on a 17-date global tour of 1,000- to 3,000-capacity venues starting Aug. 9 in Toronto.

“This has always been my vision,” he says. “Not like I planned it, just that I knew I should stick to doing what I’m doing. It’s almost like climbing steps -- you keep going up.”

Also speaking on his local growth, Burna Boy stated that Nigerians only acknowledge him now because the rest of the world does.

“Nigerians love me a lot more now because they can see that the whole world likes me, too. They think I’m something special, but I’m not. I’m just a human whose skill is making music. Way I see it, everyone plays their own role in the world, and no role is more important than the other.”

On becoming one of the richest Nigerian artists, he said, “You are only as rich as where you come from, and Nigeria has a lot of poverty.”

Two suspected child traffickers, were apprehended by operatives of the Ebonyi State Neighbourhood Watch after a stalled abduction mission.

The suspects identified as Sunday Chukwuma from Isu community in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, and Nkiruka Okpara, an indigene of the Ahiazu Mbaise community of Imo State, colluded to steal a one-year-old baby from the mother, one Chioma Njoku of Agbebo village.

The plan of stealing the baby while acting like they were helping the single mother, was hatched in Port Harcourt and reportedly facilitated by Chukwuma. Punch reported that the suspects have been handed over to the Ebonyi State Police Command.

The arrest was confirmed by the Chairman of the Onicha Local Government Area of, Ebonyi State, Felix Igboke, who commended the vigilante group.

Bobrisky has reacted to reports of getting 'arrested' today, over a N665k debt he owed a boutique.

The cross-dresser and Lagos socialite was reportedly 'arrested', over an alleged breach of endorsement agreement between him and the management of the bouqitue. However, after he signed an undertaking to pay N300k today and balance up later, he was granted bail at the police station.

Bobrisky in his reaction to the arrest report via Instagram, alleged that the lady behind his 'arrest' was pained that he dropped her contract. He added that she thought the 'almighty Bobrisky' will be detained by the police.

"Haters she is pained I drop her contract. She carry me go police thinking they will detain almighty Bobrisky . I’m not interested anymore" he wrote.

Daddy Freeze took to Instagram to share his opinion on billionaire, Femi Otedola's comment of 'technology ending the need for archaic wristwatches'.

Femi Otedola had revealed why he no longer wears wristwatches in an exchange with a follower on the social media platform. According to the billionaire he started wearing wristwatches at 12, but stopped wearing them 3 years ago. He wrote;

I started wearing a wristwatch when I was 12 years old and I stopped 3 years ago. Technology has ended our necessity for the archaic wristwatch. less is more.

However in response to this, Daddy Freeze who is a known lover of wristwatches, stated that while many see a wristwatch as a mere timepiece that tells what time it is, a handful of people appreciate it as the horological genius that goes into haute horlogerie.

He wrote;

In my humble opinion, I think it all boils down to choice.

The focus of high end watchmaking leans largely on the complexity of the movement, combined with a proficiency for demonstrating the mastery of watchmaking arts.

In that vein, a Patek Phillipe, Piaget, Richard Mille or Audemars Piguet tourbillon for instance, is a masterpiece of artwork, sheer mechanical erudition and exceptional material craftsmanship; the horological equivalent of a Picasso on your wrist.

I wouldn’t buy Vincent Van Gogh or Paul Cezanne paintings for my wall, but that won’t stop me from appreciating the work that went into creating them, even if the painting techniques and materials are today considered old fashioned.
