CharleyBright:
One Million Dollar Question no one seem to have answer to is; Where do these Boko Haram emerge from to attack and disappear into?
From where do they regroup without being noticed?
They are definitely not ghosts to appear and disaapear at will after wrecking havoc.
Some people are not telling us the truth about these Boko Haram.
They just don't emanate from some thick forest and disappear without being notice.
Those people live amongst communities and are being protected by the communities from which they regroup and attack.
How do they disguise and live freely?
The FG and the Northerners better start looking into the activities of herdmen and start profiling them.
Until the Northerners are sincere with themselves about Boko Haram, the carnage will continue till forever.
Personally, I don't trust governments when it comes to issues like this. And I mean all governments. They are all as$ holes. The problem is most people criticising this government now were making escuses for the last administration. We ask question about funding, no single arrest has been made till date from both jeg admin to pmb. How is it possible to kidnap over 200 students and sustain them for over 2 yrs. Are they eating grasses or nama? There must be some big financiers.

But I don't agree with your theory of community helping them. Which community will help the same people that decimate them irrespective of religion?

But at least in this administration, even though a lot of ipobians don't want to give credit because pmb is the president, we have seen improvement in the fight against terrorism. BH used to dislodge nigeria army from its base in those days before election came knocking.

there's no difference between fulani soldiers and boko haram boys...they're all terrorists.
Actually, all terrorists have one thing in common. THEY ALL WANT TO TAKE LAND. The way and manner they go about it may be different but their aim is ALWAYS political "LAND GRABBING".

And there are just two groups today that want to grab land from Nigeria i.e B.H and IP___ (fill in the gap)

So I understand where some people calling some other people terrorists are coming from grin grin grin grin

If it is then we should protest, I've paid for their stupid meter over 5 months I'm yet to receive it, they won't even change my direct connection charges from 7k to 2k as stipulated by their own rules, I admit power is a bit stable where I stay but seriously? More charges?

This calls for occupy DISCOS all over again, let them provide meter, find and resolve their problems and be fair to Nigerians
I completely agree with you about occupy Disco.
But for the meters, to the dismay of anti-Buhari band wagon, I have to give this administration a standing ovasion. Why? you may ask?
I was on crazy estimated bills for months and when I could bear it anymore, I decided to pay for the prepaid meter. To my surprise, in Nigeria, when I went to find the details of paying for the prepaid meter, the PHED official told me that they can't give me (i.e the amount and bank details to pay to) because they have been given instruction to refund those that have already paid before. The reason is because according to the ministry of Power/works/housing............

METERS SHOULD BE FREE

I was just dumb founded with mixed feelings. There I was, vexing to pay and get the meter and I am being prevented even though that is how it should be. For the first time in Nigeria, NEPA/PHCN is not asking a customer to go and get a meter - As if it is not illegal to get it from somewhere else. To make matter interesting, for the first time in Nigeria, I hear from a Nepa staff that meters are free.

Even though we managed to get the meter from unapproved source because of the frustration of crazy bills, behold, two weeks ago, there have been a massive installation of prepaid meters for ALL in Port Harcourt.

I bought N2k credit (about 90 units) in late August and I still have about 30 units left even with much improved supply. There is no day in the past two months or more that we don't have light for at least 12-15 hours.

I can only urge you to exercise a bit more patience and also visit the disco in your area again.

Lagos Traffic: Nigeria to divert cargo to Warri, Calabar

September 26, 2017

Agency Report

The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has called on importers to utilise Warri and Calabar sea ports to decongest the current traffic challenge in Lagos.

:
:

“Recently, we heard the licensed custom agents complaining about the same road, we hear you loud and clear, we have started work, so bear with us.
While I am a supporter of this administration, I don't think Fashola is sincere with this call. Or at best just to divert incoming cargo temporarily to other states and when the roads are finished, they will simply return to status quo. This is a government that is proposing another port in Badagry. Is it that they don't know the traffic implications for the state? If it is for the development of SW (as people tell me), why not take the coming port to Ondo state because they also have access to the sea? At over 20million residence, Lagos is already too congested. I am not an expert in the shipping industry but from a laymans perspective, it makes no sense to have another port in addition to the existing well-function ports in tiny Lagos.

I'm sorry maybe I am myopic and not seeing the bigger picture so I will appreciate an intelligent explanation. The only reason I can think of is if its is for political reasons. Since Lagos has now become like a fortress for APC and Ondo (even Ogun) may not always be guaranteed to be ruled by APC government.

Classic intellectual response. God bless the author of this piece.
Till date no one has been force to convert to islam after several years of Islamic banking.
Only bigots will take CAN seriously when the go on their usual boring "islamitation agenda" uninspiring song
But thank God there are many sensible Christians in this country whose minds will not be used by the private-jet pastors
itsdumebi:
Less than two years ago, Britain hosted a world conference on Islamic Banking and Finance and David Cameron, the then British prime minister, openly declared that their intention was to make UK the hub of Islamic Finance in the World.

It would certainly be embarrassing for CAN to be told that the first and foremost state in Nigeria to submit application for loan applicaion to the Islamic Development Bank is a Christian-dominated state in the south-east.

CareerRe: 10 Things You Need To Know About Pension In Nigeria by gists: 11:26am On Apr 26, 2017
Realwvn:
‎Your pension fund administrator (PFA) will take your questions and give you all the information you need to make the right choices as you prepare for life after work. Furthermore, here are 10 things you should know about your pensions before you retire.

1. What’s the due date and payment mode?

If you choose to be paid monthly, your PFA will pay your money to your bank account on or before  the 24th day of each month. You don’t have to worry about cheques or any long process. Receiving your pension will be completely convenient for you.

2. What happens in the event of death?

If one is on the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and dies either in active service or after retirement, the next-of-kin as provided by the deceased to the PFA will be contacted to provide relevant documents for processing the contributions. The contributions will be paid to the named beneficiary in the WILL of the Letter of Administration.

3. Can you change your next of kin after you retire?

This can be done at anytime. The change of personal information form will ideally be found on the website of your PFA. Download the form, fill it and submit to your PFA for actioning.

4. How much can you take at once when you retire?

As lumpsum, a retiree is entitled to an amount not less than 25% and not more than 50%. This amount is however dependent on the fact that the retiree is able to collect a monthly pensions of not less than 50% of his/her last salary (computed based on the housing, basic and transport) for a estimated period of atleast 18 years.

5. How soon can you start getting your pension after you retire?

The process of documentation actually starts six months before you retire. For FG employees they have to go for the Bond verification exercise organised by PENCOM. This exercise basically is to enable PENCOM consolidate their account and ensure their accrued rights are paid immediately they retire. For Private sector employees, your PFA has to confirm that all contributions due to you have been made. This process is called ‘consolidation of account’. After this is done, the process of actual payment should take about 3 weeks.

6. Can you choose how you want to be paid?

The programmed withdrawal means you get to choose your payment interval by yourself. You can choose to be paid your pension monthly or quarterly depending on what you think works best for you. Your PFA will be crediting your bank account according to the plan you choose.

7. Can you take from your RSA before you retire?

Yes you can withdraw for your RSA before you retire if you are out of employment for four months and you’re unable to secure another employment. You will be given 25% of your RSA balance. After this 25% has been withdrawn for your RSA, the balance cannot be touched until retirement.

However, if you choose to make additional voluntary contributions (AVC) into your Retirement Savings Account (RSA) you are entitled to withdraw from your AVC any time before retirement (it is tax free if withdrawal is after 5 years). So if you’ve been putting some AVC in your retirement account or if you start now, you too can withdraw from that at any point before you retire.

8. What happens to your balance after you withdraw your lump sum?

When you retire and take an initial lump sum from your RSA, the rest of the money will either be used to procure an annuity for you, or it will be used to fund a programmed withdrawal that pays you for an estimated lifespan of not less than 18 years…in real terms…for life.
A programmed withdrawal is a method by which the employee collects his retirement benefits in periodic sums spread throughout the length of an estimated life span.
An annuity is an income purchased from an approved life insurance company which provides monthly or quarterly income to the retiree during his/her lifetime but only the first 10 years are guaranteed meaning if the retiree dies AFTER 10 years, his/her beneficiaries get NOTHING.

9. Other than when you retire, when can you have access to your RSA?

There are special cases. For instance, if you retire before you’re 50 years old because of a mental or physical disability, your PFA will give you immediate access to your RSA. You can also claim 25% of your pensions if you lose your job and can’t get a new one within four months.

10. Should you move your pensions to an
insurance company when you retire?

It is entirely your choice but you’re strongly advised to keep your pensions with your PFA. Your PFA manages your pensions while you work, they invest the pensions for you safely and they update you regularly about how your money is doing to help you prepare well for retirement. This proves that you can trust them to keep delivering even after you retire. Besides once you move from Programmed Withdrawals to Annuity, you CANNOT move back if you’re are not satisfied with the services they offer or the deal you got. So choose wisely and make n informed decision. Your future and that of your loved ones count on it

http://www.naijanewsrave.com/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-pension-in-nigeria/
Just aa piece of information I heard and I need to ask people with knowledge/experience.
Is pension planned/phased withdrawals after retirements subject to tax and if so what percent. The discussion is that since pension contribution is not tax, that it is treated as an income when you retire and making withdrawals.

Informed opinions will be appreciated.

Children of hate don come again.
I didn't read anywhere in the article where the detractors offered any shred of alternative source of revenue.
If the same eurobond had failded (thank God it was a HUGE success) these same wailing zombies would still have come to blame Adeosun and caller her unprintable names.

The reality is you lots were happy with the vandalisation of pipeline even though we know the gov need funds to execute its plan. Now that they have successuflly (using their term) sold the future of your unborn children, you are here again complaining. The only possible alternative is for government to dip its dirty hands into the pension fund. I am sure these same "ekpas" would still cry fowl.

For me, having infrastructure is unnegotiable, now that revenue are low, we need the cheapest "loan" we can get and this eurobond is a great deal. Is their a price to pay? Of course yes. But that price cannot and should not be lack of needed infrastructure of the nation.

Having said that, Adeosun and her team should realise that they have not done anything we have not seen before. Getting money from foreign investors is not new to Nigeria. So while some of us are relatively happy with this news, we are not excited "yet" until we see actual utilization of the funds for the purpose which its meant. If that happens then she and her team would have written their name among the true hero/heroines of this country.

how does that even make sense?
the moon has been moving in it orbit as perfectly designed by God from the begining and has not collided with earth for zillions of years.
Is it now that it will suddenly change course out of its orbit without any force?
If we are to apply the Newton law of motion that an object will continue to be in a state of rest, or continue to move along its path EXCEPT an external force is exerted on it. So the question is what external force causing ONLY the moon to deviate from its course. Such a force, that is strong enough to change the moon's path would have been felt by earth.

So what else are we supposed to expect from these people? that the sun is tired of giving light to the solar system?
