An unidentified user based in Lekki, bought a poison to kill rats disturbing his or her house, 2 days after only to discovered that the rats ate the poison, pooed there and left.

Ngozi Okobi

Okobi is one of a number of Nigerians plying their trade in Sweden. Okobi, who plays for Eskilstuna United DFF, has demonstrated her versatility by slotting in right across the pitch, from No10 and attacking midfield, to centre midfield and on the wing. She played every minute of Nigeria’s Canada 2015 campaign. The only married Nigerian woman footballer still active, Okobi tied the knot with her Real Estate mogul sweetheart, Ahmed Okeoghene, in 2017.

Ordega

Ordega, 25, was just 17-years-old when she made her FIFA Women’s Cup debut at Germany 2011. She then found the net at Canada 2015 when she bagged a late equaliser against Sweden in their 3-3 thriller. She was one of the country’s key players at France 2019 where the country got to the Round of 16 of the championship before losing 3-0 to Germany. The former Washington Spirit and Atletico Madrid forward is now in China PR with Shanghai.

Onome Ebi

Now 36, the vastly experienced defender Ebi took part in her fifth FIFA Women’s World Cup at France 2019. Her first came in 2003 as part of a Nigeria team that consisted of national legends Perpetua Nkwocha, Precious Dede and Mercy Akide. The centre-back plays for China PR club Henan Huishang and was named Nigeria’s Player of the Year 2018.

Dike

Many call her the cutest Nigerian female footballer. Sister to ex- Super Eagles striker Bright Dike, former Oklahoma State University forward, Courtney Dike, missed the final list for the Super Falcons at the last World Cup in France after making her debut in 2015 after coming on for Asisat Oshoala in a match against Australia at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada. She first came to limelight in 2014, when she received a call up to represent the Nigerian U-20 national team for the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada and she scored the fastest goal in the history of the competition after just 13 seconds in a match against North Korea.

Tochukwu OLUEHI

Oluehi was named goalkeeper of the tournament at the 2018 CAF African Women’s Championship as Nigeria claimed an eleventh continental title. The 32-year-old conceded just one goal in the group stage before emerging victorious in penalty shoot-outs in the semi-finals and final. She has been to three FIFA Women’s World Cups before this year’s edition and didn’t play a game, being back-up goalkeeper to the now retired Precious Dede.

Chinaza Uchendu

Lagos-born Uchendu plays for Portuguese outfit Braga. France 2019 marked the 21-year-old midfielder’s first FIFA Women’s World Cup. Although she only made a brief appearance at the 2018 CAF African Women’s Championship, coming on as a substitute eight minutes before the end of extra-time in the final, she bagged one of the decisive spot-kicks to help the Super Falcons to another continental title and started the opening day defeat against Norway at the World Cup in France.

Ini-Abasi Anefiok Umotong

Ini-Abasi Anefiok Umotong (born 15 May 1994) is a British Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for FA WSL club Brighton & Hove Albion and the Nigeria national team. Born in Calabar, Nigeria, Umotong alongside her family moved to Birmingham, England, when she was one year old. She is the youngest of six siblings born to Ben Anefiok and Grace Umotong. She began playing football at the age of five and it was in Primary school she got scouted by Birmingham City, Centre of Excellence in 2003.\ She earned her first call up to the Super Falcons in February, 2015 and was named in the 23-player list for the World Cup in Canada in 2015 but did not feature in any of Nigeria’s three group matches as the African Champions failed to progress to the knockout stage.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office on Thursday, July 4, 2019 secured the conviction of Ahmed Oladimeji before Justice Ibrahim Watilat of the Federal High Court, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Oladimeji was found guilty of a one-count amended charge that bordered on sending pornographic and indecent pictures through a computer system.

The offence is contrary to Section 24 (1)(a) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention Etc) Act, 2015, and punishable under Section 24(1)(b) of the Act.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

His plea was sequel to the plea bargain arrangement he reached with the Commission through his lawyer, which informed the amended charge he was convicted of on Thursday.

Apart from the four months jail term, he is to serve on account of his conviction, he was also ordered to restititue sums in foreign currency to victims of his fraudulent acts.

The court equally ordered the forfeiture of all items recovered from him during investigation to the Federal Government of Nigeria. These include one Toshiba Laptop, one IPhone 6 and one Tecno KA phone.

Three persons have been confirmed dead after a 14-seater commercial bus plunged into the Ososa river in Ogun state.

A statement released by the Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC Ogun state command, says the accident happened around 10am at the Ijebu Ode - Sagamu Expressway. A total of 14 people comprising (5male adult and 9Female adult ) were involved in the fatal crash. One male and two females died instantly.

FRSC attributes the cause of the crash to mechanical deficiency.

The injured victims were rescued to the General Hospital Ijebu Ode, and the corpses of the dead victims were deposited at the same Ijebu Ode General Hospital Mortuary.

Efforts are currently on going to remove the Mazda bus from the river.

One person has been confirmed dead while another sustained injury when a tanker filled with gasoline (diesel) exploded at Rano road in Bunkure, Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Spokesman for Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano that the accident occurred at about 8.52 a.m on Thursday.

“We received a distress call from one Malam Mohammed at about 08.52 a.m that there was a tanker that was gutted by fire on Rano road.

“On receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the scene of the incident at about 09.10 a.m to rescue the victims,” Mohammed said.

He said that the tanker’s plate number could not be completely identified due to the fire.

Mohammed attributed the accident to speed limit violation which, he said, resulted in loss of control by the driver.

He said two people were involved out of whom one had died while the other sustained injury, adding that the victims had been handed over to officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Mohammed gave the names of the victims as Malam Danladi, 45, and Abubakar Ya’u, 35.

He appealed to motorists to always obey traffic regulations so as to stay alive and minimise accidents on the road.

The six Madonna University students and lecturer who have been facing a court trial over a Facebook post the University management claimed was injurious to them, have been sent back to prison as the presiding judge, Justice Babatunde Quadri, was absent yesterday, July 2.

The University students and lecturer were granted bail by the court which they described as stringent in February but couldn't leave as they had been unable to fully perfect the bail conditions.

One of the parents of the detained students, Mr Christopher Onyejekwe, revealed that he had gone to the founder of the institution, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Edeh, 11 times to beg him to forgive the students after he was told that the matter had been stepped down for Wednesday (today) by the court clerk, but Rev. Edeh refused.



Punch reported that Onyejekwe said that this is the third time the court would not sit since the students and the lecturer were granted bail. He also threatened to lead a campaign to withdraw no fewer than 200 students from the institution.



“This is getting on our nerves. No fewer than 30 parents of the students have started meeting to discuss how to withdraw their children and wards from the school. I’m leading them and we shall withdraw no fewer than 200 students from the school next semester.

"It has become a fight to the finish; these children have been suffering in detention since February 11, 2019. Four of my children are in the Madonna University now, but all of them will be withdrawn."

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Chuks Ezedum who reacted to threats to withdraw students from the institution, described it as false and only invented by the families and associates of those facing criminal charges brought against them by the Inspector-General of Police.

“No parent or guardian has requested the withdrawal of any student. The school community is safe, friendly and accommodating to all members,” he said.
