Nigerians can now obtain affidavits from the Federal High Court without travelling to any court premises, thanks to the court’s Electronic Court Management System (ECMS) e-Affidavit Portal. The fully digital platform allows applicants to register, complete forms, upload documents, make payment and download a verified affidavit from anywhere with an internet connection. The portal was set up to deliver a secure and efficient process for affidavit applications and related court services. It operates under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023. The process, obtained from the Federal High Court’s e-Affidavit Portal on Sunday, shows that applicants can access a range of affidavits covering name changes, correction of dates of birth, loss of documents, change of signature, next of kin, marriage, banking and other purposes. The portal also provides applicants with a means of tracking their applications and downloading completed affidavits after payment and approval. Here is how to apply: 1. Create an account Applicants are required to register on the Federal High Court’s Electronic Court Management System portal at https://portal.fhc.gov.ng/. During registration, users are asked to provide their full name, phone number, date of birth, email address and a password. The name entered should be the name that the applicant wants to appear on the affidavit. After registration, the applicant should log in to the portal and select the affidavit module. 2. Complete your profile Before starting a new affidavit application, applicants are required to complete their affidavit profile. The portal requests information including the applicant’s native town, residential address, occupation, NIN, country of origin, state of origin, gender, religion and date of birth. Applicants are also required to upload a passport photograph and an identity card. The Federal High Court advises applicants to ensure that all information supplied is accurate before saving the profile. 3. Choose the type of affidavit After completing the profile, applicants can access the list of available affidavit services. The portal offers several categories, including: Name change: Affidavit of Change of Name, Correction of Name and Harmonisation of Name(s). Date of birth: Statutory Declaration of Age, Declaration of Age for a Minor and Correction of Date of Birth. Loss and incidents: Loss of Items, Burglary, Theft, Robbery, Damage, Missing Person and other related affidavits. Identity and personal matters: Good Conduct, Next of Kin, Guardianship, Verification of Address and State of Origin. Marriage: Bachelorhood, Marriage Declaration, Spinsterhood and Non-impediment. Banking: Change of Bank Phone Number, Non-Indebtedness and Single Account Ownership. General purpose: Authorisation, Transfer of Ownership, Claim of Ownership, Sponsorship, Affidavit of Means and others. Institutional affidavits: Good Conduct and Non-Membership of Secret Cult/Terrorist/Militant Group, Hostel Accommodation and other applications. There are also options for affidavits relating to academic documents, political office candidacy and other institutional purposes. 4. Fill out the application After selecting an affidavit, the applicant is taken to the relevant application form. Depending on the affidavit selected, the form may require the applicant to provide personal details, the purpose of the affidavit and information specific to the application. For example, an application for correction of date of birth requires the applicant to state the reason for the correction, the wrong date of birth and the correct date of birth. Applicants are also required to provide their email address and phone number and select a preferred Federal High Court. The available court options include Federal High Court divisions in different states and Abuja. 5. Upload the required documents The portal requires applicants to provide a recent passport photograph, a valid means of identification and a signature, which can be uploaded or drawn. Accepted identification documents include a National Identification Number, international passport, driver’s licence or voter’s card. The portal states that uploaded passport photographs, identification cards and signatures must meet its specifications, with each file limited to 300KB in the application form reviewed. 6. Preview the application After entering the required information, applicants should click the preview option to review their application. The preview displays the information supplied, including the applicant’s name, identification details, affidavit information, contact details and selected court. Applicants should carefully check the information at this stage before submitting the application because the portal states that payments are final, non-refundable and non-transferable. 7. Agree to the terms and submit After checking the information, the applicant must agree to the portal’s terms and conditions and consent to the processing of personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act. The application can then be submitted. 8. Pay the required fee The portal then directs applicants to make payment electronically. The payment options include Paystack and Remita. The application reviewed for this report displayed a fee of N1,797 for the selected affidavit. Applicants should, however, confirm the amount displayed for their particular application before making payment, as fees may vary by service or change over time. The portal warns that payments are final, non-refundable and non-transferable. 9. Download the affidavit After payment and processing, the completed affidavit can be downloaded through the portal, while a copy is also sent to the applicant’s email address. The Federal High Court says affidavits issued through the portal are protected with unique barcodes and reference numbers that can be used for verification. Applicants are warned that falsifying, altering or misusing an affidavit constitutes a criminal offence and may attract legal consequences. Important things applicants should know The portal says applicants whose applications are queried for additional information or documents must respond within 72 hours. Failure to make the required payment or respond to a query within the stipulated period can result in automatic deletion of the application without a refund or further notice, after which the applicant would have to start a new application and make a fresh payment. The portal also says applicants’ personal information, including NIN, passport photographs, signatures and contact details, is collected for affidavit applications, verification and other lawful purposes. Enugu State Governor, Dr Peter Mbah, has announced his administration’s plans to establish State University of Artificial Intelligence and Technology, State University of Education and Technology, and State University of Agriculture, Agro-Industrialization and Technology to match the Smart Green School initiative. Mbah disclosed this while delivering the convocation lecture on the topic; “Restoring the Dignity of Man: Enugu’s Quantum Leap in Human Development and Inclusive Prosperity through Experiential Learning” as part of the events marking the 55th convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, held at the school auditorium. The Lecturer said the state has accredited new degree programmes in Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Mechatronics in ESUT and IMT, saying his administration was committed to ensuring that every child can access a school that prepares him or her for the future, hence the 268 Smart Green Schools built across the 260 political wards. Mbah said the Smart Green Schools are equipped with Interactive Smart Boards, 26,000 Desktop Computers, Laboratories, Digital Libraries, Innovation Studios, Clinics, Smart Farms, Water, Teachers accommodation, Solar Energy, and Internet Connectivity, noting that uniforms and learning materials are free of charge. The governor said the Smart Green School pathway continues through Smart Senior Secondary Schools, Modern Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET, Colleges, and transformed tertiary institutions. He said at the heart of his education transformation is the Center for Experiential Learning and Innovation which is responsible for Integrating Curriculum, Teachers’ Development, Research, Digital Literacy, Skill Intelligence, Industry Partnership, and Evidence. The governor further said the state is transforming it’s tertiary institutions including the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, State University of Medical and Applied Sciences, Health Colleges, Enugu State Polytechnic Iwollo, and the State College of Education Technical into institutions that connect to research, technology, enterprise, production and public value. Earlier speaking, the UNN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Simon Ortuanya and the chairman of the occasion, Prof. Chinedu Nebo who commended the governor for the lofty initiative in education, said Experiential Learning is becoming one of the defining imperatives of 21st-century education; hence Nigerian University graduates must be able to create, innovate, solve problems and lead societal transactions. The Convocation lecture which had notable political office holders as well as the Pro-chancellor of UNN, Pro. Adebayo Adegboyega in attendance, was part of the event marking the 55th convocation ceremony of the University.

Pascal Okechukwu, a.k.a. Cubana Chief Priest, scored just 14 votes out of 2,845 total voters in the APC primary for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency House of Representatives seat in Imo State. He lost to the incumbent, Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu (Omeogo), who secured the ticket ahead of the 2027 elections. He promised Bola Ahmed Tinubu millions of Igbo votes and swore to teach Peter Obi politics. Yet, out of nearly 3,000 votes cast in the APC primary, he got only 14. 14 votes — that’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 out of nearly 3,000 votes. 14 votes ooo. And this is the man who promised to carry all Igbo votes in a basket and deliver them to Tinubu in 2027 as the South East “City Boy” coordinator. Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest businessman, says Dangote Group is planning to invest in power generation with a target of up to 20,000 megawatts. Dangote spoke in an interview with Makhtar Diop, managing director at International Finance Corporation (IFC), on Wednesday. “We are now going into power — 20,000 megawatts,” he said. Nigeria currently generates about 4,000–4,500MW of electricity, far below its installed capacity of over 13,000MW. Dangote further listed the planned investment alongside other ongoing projects, including fertiliser production, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and port development. He also spoke on the evolution of his refinery project, noting that it faced scepticism at inception. “At the time when I started this refinery… I have never ever seen crude oil in my life,” he said. “People openly said this refinery will never happen.” The Dangote refinery, valued at about $20 billion, is now producing fuel, with capacity estimated at 650,000 barrels per day. Dangote also said the experience has reinforced his approach to investing in large-scale projects across the continent. “How do we open up Africa? We will open Africa by demonstrating that we believe in Africa, by investing our money in Africa,” he said. “Because if I don’t invest my own money, I can never go to any conference and convince people that Africa is a good place to come and invest. But right now, I have a voice, I have demonstrated that these things are possible.” He added that his group is expanding fertiliser production capacity to about 12 million tonnes annually, alongside investments in mining, agriculture, LNG, and a deep-sea port. “And the needs of Africa are petroleum products, fertilisers,” Dangote said. “Today, in about two and a half years, we will be the largest fertiliser company in the world. We are putting up 12 million tons of urea. We are opening up mines of potash and phosphate in Congo and Brazil. We are building the biggest deep-sea port with an 18-meter draft. We are doing LNG.” He added that the expansion is being driven by stronger cash flows and increased financial flexibility. “We are now actually free of assets, and we can actually raise more money. Our cash flow now is very, very strong,” Dangote said. He added that the projects are aimed at addressing critical infrastructure and industrial gaps across Africa. Dangote, however, said investments will make sense if Africa addresses its structural trade barriers.

3exe3:Correction on Peter Obi’s ADC Exit Contrary to claims, Peter Obi never said he wouldn’t contest the ADC primary election. In fact, he pushed for a Direct Primary so party members could vote. But Atiku and ADC party leaders rejected it. They opted for a consensus arrangement instead – a move designed to make Atiku the party’s flag bearer. Atiku had already funded key party leaders to back the consensus plan, expecting to secure the ticket unopposed. When ADC leaders realized Peter Obi and Kwankwaso were set to leave the party over this, they urgently called an emergency meeting, pleading with both men to stay. But Obi, anticipating the outcome, had already decided to exit. The ADC was never prepared to conduct a Direct Primary.
