I hope he is not trying to influence the selection of the judges for the appeal and supreme courts, looking for judges he can easily buy with the support of Mary Odili. Does he need to visit the CJN in person to discuss the issue of the chief Judge in Rivers state? That case is already in a court. Besides a letter from the RSG through the attorney general and commissioner of justice would have conveyed the message to the CJN. Well, let's see if everyone in Nigeria has a price tag and can be bought by Wike. |

21 day notice was not given and yet INEC accepted them as candidates and allowed them contest the election. BTW op, what is the source of this info?
*Modiified * This is a very silly judgement and will not stand. Its obvious the judges have been compromised and are working with some INEC officials. APC wrote INEC notifying them of all their primaries, a further letter was sent notifying them of a revision in the dates. If there were issues why didn't INEC raise them then. Besides, if this judgement is accepted by the appeal and supreme courts, then it means that all the APC candidates from presidential to state houses of assembly were never candidates for the election because the letter notifying INEC did not originate from APC Rivers but APC national. And did PDP give 21 day notice before primaries?

Rexology: You are not saying the whole truth. When the court said both parties should maintain STATUQUO, what does it mean even if RISEC already had the register? Maintain status quo can mean different things to different people. What was the status quo then? It was the preparation for the elections. So if you say maintain, you are saying let things continue the way they are already. The judge would have spoken in clear terms or ordered RISEC not to conduct the elections. But he knew he had no basis for that and was only playing safe. The judge is the cause of the whole confusion. |

INEC was ordered not to give RISE C the voters register. RISEC said they already had the rwgister. There was no order from the FHC to RISEC. And it has got nothing to do with APC. |

This case is already in appeal court for hearing in Oct. I don't know Justice Akanbi gave his ruling after he has said they will wait for appeal court to decide. His ruling is causing more confusion than peace. Since the FHC and NIC have given contradictory rulings, the LG councils should be sealed till October when the appeal court will resume hearing. |

help3852: Do you know how many months salaries are being owed in rivers state, from state civil servants to teachers, doctors etc.
You should be asking what ameachi did with monthly allocation which is the second highest and IGR which is also third highest. 3months salaries, April, May and June. Most have been paid April salaries before Amaechi left. Amaechi was paying salaries late but he was paying all the same. Allocation dropped! Rivers state wage bill is over 8billion which is also one of the highest and almost equivalent to the allocation. Wike has not paid civil servants any salaries since he took over yet he has borrowed 30b. Amaechi had to pay off most of Rivers state debts. Rivers state debt profile is currently 17b which is amount the least compared to most states like CRS, AKS, Delta and LAG which owe hundreds of billion. Besides GEJ refused to refund to Amaechi 108billion used to construct federal roads. Amaechi may not be perfect but he has tried. |

Yem0350: The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has directed that civil servants in the state be paid April and May salaries. Wike said on Wednesday that the directive was in line with his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers in the state. The governor inherited the two months salary areas from the immediate past administration in the state. He assured civil servants that their welfare would be given top priority by his administration. Wike also expressed his commitment to promoting the interest of all people resident in the state. Meanwhile, Wike has said that funding will not be a challenge in the state government’s commitment towards rehabilitating and reconstructing major roads in Port Harcourt. Speaking during his inspection tour of the East West- Elelenwo-TransAmadi-Garrison road on Wednesday, the governor assured contractors that his administration had taken steps to ensure that road projects are unded. He charged the contractor handling the road to work towards the established completion date, November.

Not seen this report in any credible news media and what was reported was that PMB directed Osinbajo to look into the possibility of using proceeds from the ECA to pay states for projects done on behalf of the FG. Some news media need overhauling.. I was wondering too. The media report is same for most credible news sources that Osibanjo is to head a committee to look into sharing of proceeds from ECA. Surprised to see this from daily independent about a national salary committee and Wike being appointed. Is he the only member? What is the national salary committee meant to do? Funniest part, PDP folks are celebrating like Wike just won the case at the tribunal. This tells that Wike may just be working to get close to PMB, after contributing to Jonathan's failure. |

Amaechi owes wworkers 3 months Pensioners 5mths Timariv 7mths Refuse disposers 4mths So why didn't he use this 7billion to pay his debt. The newly employed teachers are owed arias of 9mths. Amaechi told the world he has paid workers for April while he paid selected banks for match only. I can't tell if such money exist in those banks but if at all they exist why did he not pay workers or hand over properly. A bit exaggerated. Workers fully paid for March. Some were paid April before Amaechi left. Teachers are not owed 9months arrears. The teachers have been receiving 1month arrears with each month pay. Please confirm from teachers you know, the arrears owed should be about 3months or so. Pensioners are being owed 3months. Let's not forget that the man employed massively when a lot of states placed embargo on employment. Who employs 13,000 teachers at a go. Unfortunately, income dropped. At least he was still paying even though it was being delayed. |

With the way he's been paying, am sure Amaechi would have finished paying April salaries by now if he was still around. The payments are being delayed but he was paying all the same. The only month being owed all workers is May. |

Wildrage: Amaechi, who is in a better position to know the precarious state of Rivers economy , proclaimed gleefully on the eve of his departure that the incoming governor would find it impossible to pay workers salaries for months after his departure. He left the states without paying workers salaries for about 2months, the waste collectors were owed about six months and they decided to down tools thereby turning portharcourt into a mass of filthy landscape, courts and judicial offices left to rot away due to almost a year of closure, trans Amadi, Eneka and many feeder rds made totally impassable due to months of neglects and abandonment by contractors, traffic in the city is now almost comparable to that of Lagos. Is Wike expected to govern the state with his spittle? In authorizing the loan, the house promised to attach a breakdown of the details of projects it's intended for so the public can hold them accountable, moreso the loan is collaterized by VATS Revenue due from the federation account. Sd owe ourselves the duty to hold those in authority accountable for what they do with the commonwealth, but we do a big disservice to ourselves if we submit to cheap propaganda by the ill-informed and those bent on undermining the credibility of others purely for mischievous partisan purpose. kipesco: Workers not been paid since April till today. Pensioners not been paid since January till now TimaRiv not been paid since seven months Lawyers not been paid for about a year plus Dustbin carriers not been paid for four months. So tell me how long people will suffer before government go set. If you were in Rivers State you would have been happy if the money is going to be put in the right way. Is the money meant for paying salaries or renovation of roads and government house? Will you give excuses if it was Amaechi who was borrowing the money? How long will Wike continue to borrow since he will not use his spittle to govern the state. There is a general cash crunch, other governors are cutting down the cost of governance, ours is borrowing less than two weeks in office to renovate roads and government house. |

Did you see how he was addressing respected men of the bar today? Yes of course. Same way he was threatening lecturers to call off strike when he was minister. We are not deceived by Wike's antics at all. His unbridled ambition to be governor is the root cause of the problems in RS and part of the reasons GEJ lost. Unfortunately for him, he never imagined GEJ will lose. The fact that Amaechi will be relevant at the federal level is still giving Wike sleepless nights. See him sleeping at a PDP event today.
