Any country regarded as superpower must have great economic and military power, US is world's largest economy with close to 800 military bases in over 80 countries across the world.

Soviet Union was a superpower but not today's Russia, we've all been living under such impression till Ukraine's war, this war has exposed Russia's Achilles heel.

UK and France are both UN permanent members as well with global influence.

Nuclear weapons are more of deterrence, I don't think any country is ready for nuclear war now knowing full well the devastation it will cause.
