Imran Khan becomes the first Pakistani prime minister to be ousted by a no-confidence vote

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan has been ousted from power after losing a no-confidence vote in his leadership.

The vote was held past midnight after opposition parties brought a motion against him, following days of drama.

The motion was first brought against Mr Khan last week, but he blocked it by dissolving parliament.

Sunday's vote took place after the country's Supreme Court ruled in favour of opposition parties and said that Mr Khan had acted unconstitutionally.

Mr Khan is now the first Pakistani prime minister to be ousted by a no-confidence vote.

Pakistan's parliament will meet to vote for the country's new leader on Monday.

That person will be able to hold power until October 2023, when the next election is due to be held.

Ayaz Sadiq, who is in charge of the national assembly while there are no ruling party members or designated speakers, said nomination papers for candidates should be filed by 11:00 local time (06:00 GMT) on Sunday.

Opposition parties were able to secure 174 votes in the 342-member house in support of the no-confidence motion, the house speaker said, making it a majority vote.

In a tweet, opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan and its parliament were "finally freed from a serious crisis".

Mr Sharif added: "Congratulations to the Pakistani nation on a new dawn."

'International conspiracy'

Mr Khan had said he would not recognise an opposition government, claiming - without evidence - that there was a US-led conspiracy to remove him because of his refusal to stand with Washington on issues against Russia and China. .

He has repeatedly said that Pakistan's opposition parties are working with foreign powers.

The US has said there is "no truth" in these allegations, and Mr Khan has never provided any proof

Let me see how many fronts Russia will fight at same time. With a crashing economy and still having to fund a war.

By the time Putin is done with this war, Russians will be seeking asylum in Nigeria.

Am empty overhyped nation bragging military might with old outdated Soviet Union scraps, with foot poorly kitted hunters called soldiers.

Stationed along Ukrainian boarders for months like all was already planned and mapped out, only to go put up the worst Military invasion in history.

Why the saying that “empty barrels make the loudest noise”, happens to be always true.

Even if Ukraine is conquered today, Russias weakness has been exposed to the universe.

Take away nuclear warhead from them and UGM/ESN will decimate Russias military. Very wack mikitary!

Sending anti tanks and anti aircraft weapons is better than warplanes.

Boris Johnson has pledged to send 120 armoured vehicles to Ukraine, after meeting President Volodymyr Zelensky for talks in Kyiv on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said he made his unannounced visit to the Ukrainian capital as “a show of our unwavering support for the people of Ukraine”.

As well as the armoured vehicles, in a significant stepping-up of UK military support, Mr Johnson said Britain would also be sending new anti-ship missile systems.

It comes the day after he announced a further £100 million worth of UK military assistance, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft weaponry and so-called “suicide drones”, which loiter over the battlefield before attacking their target.

Following his meeting with the Ukrainian leader, Mr Johnson said in a statement: “Ukraine has defied the odds and pushed back Russian forces from the gates of Kyiv, achieving the greatest feat of arms of the 21st century.
