The new German chancellor Olaf Scholz was invited to the white house yesterday by US president Joe biden where the two leaders held talks regarding Russia-ukraine crisis.

At a press conference after the meeting Joe biden made it clear that Russia should have a rethink or face the most severe economic sanctions ever imposed on Moscow.

Germany has agreed to stand side by side with US, America is also threatening to cut Nord stream 2 gas pipelines from Russia to Germany which will affect even the economy of Germany and other European countries as they depend heavily on energy supply from Russia, but this will cripple the economy of Russia more.
NATO has named Qatar as replacement for Russia's energy supply.

The crisis over Ukraine comes as Europe is struggling to deal with soaring gas prices and internal divisions over how to wean itself off fossil fuels in response to the climate emergency.

What is Nord Stream 2?
Nord Stream 2 is a 750-miles pipeline connecting Russia and Germany, with the potential to supply 26m German homes. The pipeline has been completed but has not yet certified by Germany’s energy regulator.


Maybe this latest move by the biden administration will deter Russia from invading Ukraine, it has been estimated that over 100,000 people will die and 5 million people be displaced if Russia invade Ukraine, this has also promted US to deploy 3000 soldiers to poland, Romania and Germany last week.
