PoliticsIs It Time To Have A Female President In Nigeria? by God1000(op): 4:02pm On Jan 16, 2022
Is Nigeria ripe for female president and governors? Men have disappointed us too many times with their abysmal performance.

We've never had a female president or governor in Nigeria but we've had female deputy governors and speakers at the state assemblies.

I believe the likes of okonjo iweala will do great things for Nigeria if given the chance.

Elsewhere in Africa and across the world women have become actively involved in politics.

The inclusion, representation and participation of women in national politics have increased over the years unlike in centuries back when women were not allowed to vote or run for political offices. The first woman, who was not from the monarchy, to get involved in national politics was Sirimavo Bandaranaike who became prime minister of Sri Lanka in 1960. Since then, the numbers have increased from three women becoming national leaders in the 1960s to a total of seven in the 1980s.

The representation of women in politics in Africa is gradually increasing, as women’s representation in politics, increased by fivefold to 22% between 1980 and 2015.
Here is the list of female presidents in Africa

1. Slyvie Kiningi, Acting President of Burundi (February- October 1983)
2. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia ( 2006-2018)
3. Rose Francine Rogombe, Acting President of Gabon (June-October 2009)
4. Joyce Hilda Banda, President of Malawi (2012-2014)
5. Agnes Monique Ohsan Bellepeau, Acting President of Mauritius (March – July 2012 and May – June 2015)
6. Catherine Samba, Acting President of Central African Republic (2014-2016)
7. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, President of Mauritius (2015 – 2018)
8. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the current president of Tanzania, she was vice President under John magufuli who died in march 2021, that paved way for her to become the president.

In 2016 Hilary Clinton came close to becoming the first female US president, but she was rubbed by electoral college even though she won the popular vote.

Donald trump lunched a very toxic campaign against her, the campaign of calumny and character assassination eventually mar her efforts.

Though America has a female vice President now in person of Kamala Harris, but it wasn't easy.

I think it's time we follow suit in Nigeria.

What Nigeria needs is a young, vibrant, focused, one who understands where Nigeria is currently and who has a clear vision of where we should be..who would help direct the course of the present day Nigeria and lay down a stong foundation for future nigerians. One who isnt limited by ethnicity or religion. One who is well travelled and wouldnt be corrupted by any cabal an independent candidate who the masses support whole heartedly not becos they were given 3 cups of rice in the local govt..one who would built strong institutions and will ensure bad eggs are properly dealt with. One who will sanitise the entire spectrum of govt institutions and would be more focused on making Nigeria a producing rather than a consuming country. A leader ready to DIE to bring down any stronghold limiting the progress of the country . That persons isnt Tinubu. Nigerians can choose him if they like cos i would be long gone from here. But would return to buy the wreckage at a discount price if una no gree hear word.
I agree wholeheartedly

The APC leaders will actually vote for Dave Umahi at the Primaries.

We also have the other good leaders like Atiku, Kingsley Moghalu and Sowore in other parties.
I don't think PDP will pick atiku considering he's from north east, both APC and PDP will zone their tickets to south

About Dave umahi, I don't see that happening, he can't even win in his own state.

Nigerians will eventually abandon sowore and moghalu for these old men.

Is not time to keep quite but who are we promoting? It does not matter to me the party our president comes from If Osibanjo trully is a leader even when he is sideline he can contest from another Party someone who cannot take the bull by the horn should not even be our leader.
you are talking as if you don't know how dangerous the political terrain in Nigeria is, Osinbajo is a cautious type, he will consult widely before making any move.

He won't contest if the odds are against him

undecided please you should all save your strength for election, me myself will not this man. But the way I keep seeing thread about him here and there hmmmm, its turning to obsession gradually.
If you have any candidate promote him or her instead of all this propaganda. This is the same way Goodluck Jonathan loss instead of focusing on himself and agenda he start attacking Buhari now the same pattern is occurring, I guess we never learn.
Sometimes I wonder while God create me with peoole like this.
this isn't the time to keep quiet man and it's not obsession, we need to educate ourselves and make the right choices.

What if Osinbajo is sidelined at the party level? That leaves us with tinubu from APC, we need to continue yowling, hopefully it will get to APC leaders

This is the main reason why we have a disaster as President today. Someone who isn’t fit to be a councilor in saner climes or even to collect levies at tollgate. Quota system has destroyed this country.

PoliticsI Now Understand Why Tinubu Is Always Silent On Burning National Issues by God1000(op):
The man has never said anything despite all the senseless and unprecedented killings in benue and across Nigeria including South Western States like oyo, ogun and ondo, he doesn't want anything that will jeopardize his future plans.
He was in oyo state yesterday to commiserate with the government and families of the two traditional rulers that died recently including former governor akala, but he did not visit or say anything when oyo state was repeatedly attacked by gunmen.

You all can see the hypocrisy of the man, it's never about national interest but self aggrandisement and preservation.

He's already gathering support, soon the unthinkable will happen, I'm not a hater of this man oo, but he's not what we need at the moment, unless we want history to continue repeating itself in Nigeria.
