Will the president listen, there's serious hunger in the land
Some of these children are not even in school
Is this how leaders in other climes develop their countries? Let's be honest, president Tinubu will not survive six months as president in saner climes.
Children Protest Against Tinubu In Kwara, Call President ‘Thief’ Over Growing Hardship In Nigeria
Dozens of children, mostly below the age of 15 on Saturday, held a protest in Ilorin, Kwara State against the government of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The protesting children are seen in a viral video waving leaves and lamenting the hardship the government of President Bola Tinubu has brought on the country.
The children are heard saying: “Tinubu. Thief. This suffering is enough. We are tired and we cannot continue like this.”
In another video seen by SaharaReporters online, another set of children were also protesting in front of the Emir of Ilorin’s palace. The protesters were also heard lamenting hunger and hardship created by policies of the APC government.
Last week, SaharaReporters reported how a commercial driver identified as Wahab Ajibaye based in Ilorin expressed frustration over the rising fuel prices, saying it had left him struggling to provide for his family.
Despite earning N20,000 daily, Ajibaye said he took home only N3,000 after fuel expenses, leaving him unable to take care of his wife and children.
He said: “I am buying fuel for N1100 and I make N20,000 (daily) but I take only N3,000with me to my house (after work). I am the owner of my car but I am no longer making enough to cater for my children and my wife.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) government will not end well. Nigeria is becoming worse and we pray God takes away this set of current leaders.”
Ajibaye blamed the ruling APC government for the hardship faced by Nigerians, saying, "Their government is bringing more suffering. They're not ashamed, despite many Nigerians cursing them. They should have a rethink."
The first sensible thing I've heard from him in quite some time. Plus he may be under house arrest or incarcerated. I think he's given up hope actually.
He should have rode off quietly into the sunset like every other president who lost. He was told by people who he appointed and other prominent people of his party he lost and it was a fair election, but he refused to listen because of his ego, irresponsible attitude and lies.
Former President Donald Trump said Sunday that he doesn't see himself running for president again if he loses in November.
"No, I don't. No, I don't," Trump responded to Sinclair Broadcast Group's "Full Measure" host Sharyl Attkisson's question about another run. "I don't see that at all. I think that, hopefully, we're going to be successful," he said.
With President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 election, Trump is now the oldest presidential nominee in history as age and mental acuity have become focal points in this year's election cycle.
As he lays out the stakes for the 2024 election, Trump often emphasizes his point by describing the turmoil that has he and his campaign have faced over the course of the cycle.
"I didn't need this. I had a very nice life. I didn't need to go through court systems and go through all the other stuff and run at the same time," Trump told tech entrepreneur Elon Musk during a livestream conversation in August when asked why he decided to launch another presidential bid.
"But if I had to do it over again, I would have done it over again, because this is so much more important than me or my life,"
Trump was also asked about the possibility of Tulsi Gabbard or Robert F. Kennedy Jr., two former Democrats that have become surrogates for the Trump campaign, serving in his cabinet during a potential second administration and claimed that he made no promises to them.
"It doesn't mean anything. It means it could be, but I didn't make deals with anybody," Trump said about when asked about Kennedy serving as Health and Human Services secretary, as Kennedy's former running mate Nicole Shanahan suggested. "It's not appropriate to do it. It's too early."
Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday accepted an invitation from CNN to debate former President Donald Trump on October 23, challenging her rival to another engagement on a public stage in the final weeks of the campaign.
“Vice President Harris is ready for another opportunity to share a stage with Donald Trump,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon said in a statement. “Donald Trump should have no problem agreeing to this debate.”
Harris tweeted Saturday that she “will gladly accept a second presidential debate” and that she hopes Trump “will join” her on October 23.
Trump on Saturday argued it was “too late” to have another presidential debate because Americans have begun casting their ballots in the 2024 election.
“The problem with another debate is that it’s just too late, voting has already started,” Trump said at a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Trump suggested last week that he might be open to participating in a third presidential debate following his September 10 face-off with Harris hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. “Maybe if I got in the right mood,” he told reporters during a stop in California, after previously posting on Truth Social, “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung referred CNN to that Truth Social post when asked Saturday whether the former president would accept the debate invitation.
Harris’ campaign last week dismissed Trump’s announcement that there would not be another debate, with one senior adviser saying the former president “changes his position every day.” The vice president, meanwhile, immediately called for another debate, saying, “I believe we owe it to the voters.”
The October debate would mirror the first 2024 presidential debate in June between Trump and President Joe Biden, taking place at CNN’s studios in Atlanta, according to the network. Trump and Harris would field moderators’ questions for 90 minutes without a live studio audience.
Both Vice President Harris and former President Trump received an invitation to participate in a CNN debate this fall as we believe the American people would benefit from a second debate between the two candidates for President of the United States,” the network said in a statement. “We look forward to receiving a response from both campaigns so the American public can hear more from these candidates as they make their final decision.”
CNN’s debate between Trump and Biden on June 27 proved a consequential showdown that upended the course of the campaign. After a dismal performance at that Atlanta debate, Biden eventually bowed out of the race and endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee.
Ugandan president wrote Yesterday, Maama Janet and I welcomed His Excellency Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of Nigeria, whom we took on a tour of the Pearl Dairy Factory in Mbarara.
Later, we travelled to Nshwere, where we commissioned the new St. Luke’s Church of Uganda and addressed farmers from Kiruhura and Kazo at Kaaro in Kiruhura District.
I invited His Excellency to see the capacity Uganda has in milk production and the opportunities available for trade with Nigeria and across the continent in the dairy sector. Trade, through frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area, if put to good use, can be a catalyst for the much-needed political and economic integration.
I thank H.E. Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo for visiting us and for delivering a message of hope so that we can achieve the NRM’s three historical missions." - H.E Tibuhaburwa Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
According to some reports, More than 100 domestically produced drones were deployed in the attack on the depot, imagine what will happen when US and UK finally give Ukraine the greenlight to use their Long range missiles and drones against Russia
We are gradually approaching World war III
I don't want to witness a nuclear exchange between Russia and NATO
Ukraine has blown up a Russian ammunition dump, triggering an explosion so powerful it was picked up by earthquake monitors.
A huge explosion and mushroom cloud was seen coming from a warehouse complex in the city of Toropets, about 300 miles over the border with Ukraine.
It is believed that the depot is used to house North Korean missiles and some of Russia’s most advanced weaponry, including guided bombs, artillery and S-400 air defence systems.
Plumes of smoke rising from the fires were so large that they could be seen from space. The explosions also triggered seismic activity measuring 2.8 points on the Richter scale.
Video footage shot near the depot showed a fireball lifting into the sky so bright it could be seen for miles around, with shockwaves emanating from the blast area.
Russian social media channels showed significant damage to buildings in Toropets, with windows blown from their frames and scorch marks on the walls.
Residents on local online chat groups described villages closer to the ammunition dump being completely destroyed.
One picture appeared to show a house with window frames blown from their fittings into a house overlooking the blast site.
A source in Ukraine’s SBU state security service said its drones had caused an “extremely powerful detonation”. It is not clear exactly which weapons were being stored at the warehouses at the time of the explosion, but Ukraine said they included missiles intended for tactical launch systems and guided bombs.
Russian sources have previously described the storage location of an area of significant importance for Moscow’s armed forces. The site covers an area around two square miles in size, while its outside perimeter is roughly seven miles.
In 2018, Dmitry Bulgakov, a Russian general, said: “The arsenal in Toropets allows us to shelter reserves of missiles and ammunition from external influences and ensure their safety and fire and explosion safety.”
The military site has been targeted by Ukraine twice before, in May and June, according to Astra, the Russian Telegram news channel.
Russian officials attempted to downplay the scale of the strike, claiming air defence crews had repelled a Ukrainian drone attack.
The country’s defence ministry reported that its forces had destroyed 54 Ukrainian drones overnight without mentioning the attack on the storage site.
Local authorities were carrying out evacuations of the civilian population living near the base in Toropets. Schools and nurseries were also cancelled on Wednesday in parts of Russia’s Tver region.
On Wednesday morning, Igor Rudenya, the region’s governor, delivered a speech to camera while explosions were still ringing out in the distance.
Russia’s emergency text message broadcast system pinged mobile phones near the military base, asking people not to publish images of explosions and drones on social media.
Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, acknowledged the attack by sharing a video of the explosion, commenting: “The demilitarisation of Russia is necessary to end terror.”
Ukraine has been calling on its Western partners to allow Kyiv’s forces to use Western-provided Storm Shadow and Atacms missiles for such strikes.
But with resistance to relaxing the restrictions in the White House, Ukrainian troops are forced to rely on homemade one-way-attack drones.
Power outages were announced on Wednesday in parts of the Tver region, local administration said in a statement that followed reports of the drone attack.
Meanwhile, Russian drones attacked energy facilities in Ukraine’s north-eastern city of Sumy, the regional authorities said on Wednesday.
It has been reported that nobody was injured in the attack, but repeated strikes on the region’s energy facilities have strained the system.
Regional authorities said that air defences shot down 16 drones over the Sumy region during the overnight attack.
Ukraine’s energy ministry said Russia’s Tuesday attacks had caused a fire at a power substation in the Sumy region and cut power to more than 281,000 consumers. Power was later partially restored, it said.
