GozieDiora: First, my assignment was to get a general opinion on this matter and honestly tell me which side has it more. It will always be divided like here but I asked for which side has it more. And not to pick out a specific feature where Java probably has some strength left. Anyway, that's aside.
See, that IntelliJ will do this or that is a great possibility. Everything is possible. That C# will phase out is also possible. But we're talking about status quo. What is obtainable as of today. And I'm saying neither IntelliJ nor Netbeans nor Eclipse have gotten there yet.
Talking about the greatness of open source, have you forgotten what led to this our cool chat? That Microsoft is going open source too. So if you think open source has got it all and can crush competitions, then MS is about to incorporate that strength too into their already powerful status thus making it uncrushable. Do you now see why I say other vendors MUST step up their game if they want survive the blow. They need things to hold on to cause MS language will have it all.
You see MS knows just how to evolve a language and spoonfeed it to the public. See F# that came out the other day is already rubbing shoulders with major languages. They're just crafted in this and that's why competitors much watch for every major move they take.
It's just my stand, not a question of being biased. What do I stand to gain by promoting one language over the other? It's just a professional discussion and we're trying to enlighten one another. MS's decision is a turning point in the IT world so what other topic do you expect in a gathering of programmers? Lol
Good evening jaareh MS that can't compete with APPLE is what u're hyping like this. Java is too much comparison and competitor for C# at this moment and for years to come.. All because of the ANDROID. Its like comparing Barcelona to QPR... |

BornSad: Bro, you asked your question and you went ahead to answer it.
First, VS has every single thing you need incorporated in one environment and that alone is a strength. The Deployment project tools are there. The system integration project tools are right in there. Real life server programming tools are also there. It's a have-one-do-all kinda thing. Like you said, once you have it, you don't have to look elsewhere for anything not even DB or platform related stuffs. Everything is just in there.
Secondly, it very intuitive, very explicit and easy to use. Just click a button and your project is ready for deployment. Just a single button. Developing GUI with VS alignment tools will make you shout next time you use any other IDE. Its revers engineering tools are unbeatable. Software modelling is so easy here. You can easily diagrammatically model your objects with UML and enforce it on your project such that the system automatically reject any OOP implementations that do not conform to project design. A multi client project is easily managed here as a Solution project with sub projects. P2P coding is well taken care of. Real life distant support or co-programming is supported. The intelliscence makes coding a child's play. I can go on and on. The point, you might achieve these with a couple of other tools but is it with same ease?
I didn't say there are some things VS does that can never be achieved elsewhere but that what VS does in a click takes a lot of tools and steps, even wizards, to achieve elsewhere. IntelliJ might get there but it's just not there yet
I'm not hyping VS, it's not my father's property. I'm only being factual. And don't say "in Nigeria" cause VS is known worldwide as one of its kind, check online.
Good evening. Years ago peeps were coding the bullsh*t u're talking about using command line or notepad and a blank paper for the design.. Comparing IDE's is just stupid its about the coders' choice/preference. |

But comparing programming languages is very very weird.. |

100Cents: Because the govt at the centre has refused to give South East water ways, Niger bridge and after how many years just one international airport. You all know the effect of giving Igbos one Seaport ?
Given equal footing, you and I know that no part of Nigeria can match the resilience of the south east.
Oyibo man said it. Even America will know.. Mr. Fash built a bridge and wanted to go on a stupid dream to build another international airport. So tell your governors to build bridges cos the SW has also been deprived of development by the govt at the centre. |

hansad: Bundle of deception. Agriculture can only make you feed well, but not fetch enough local cash or foreign money to build even a rail line from Abuja to Kaduna, or run Nigeria under present unitary govt system. Move over to developed Western countries, there a basket of Banana or groundnut from Third world countries sell for less than one Euro. In any case, there is no part of Nigeria that cannot produce enough food to feed people in its area. Reality is tht once crude oil cash stops coming to Nigeria, today's apostles of one Nigeria shall declare independence from Nigeria - take this fact to the Central Bank. Collynzo9 understands what I meant... Your mistake and the mistake of 90% of Nigerians is seeing agriculture as a food production method... Go through that list again. My point is: without agriculture those things won't exist. |

Priceless24: Lol, I'm a peacemaker(in my head sha). I understand your concerns but our leaders are more concerned with filling up their pockets than the diversification of Nigerias economy. It is painful because most western countries have found ways to almost replace their reliance on crude oil(that's what I meant when I said it's going out of fashion). They are going to rely less on Nigerias crude oil as time goes by and it's going to be drastic if these block head looters do not do something about it. Crude oil will forever be needed it can't be replaced yet.. But the reliance on it will reduce.... |

Collynzo9: Are you serious? So how are the countries that import Agricultural products from African countries and process them into finished products faring when compared to the countries they import from? Switzerland imports most of Ghana's and Ivory coast's cocoa for processing into several products, how are they faring when compared to those 2 countries? As for the employment aspect, by the time everybody is ivolved in agriculture and the prices of products crash as is already the case, many farmers sink deeper and deeper into poverty. Food = agriculture Fashion = agriculture Infrastructures = agriculture Housing = agriculture Furniture = agriculture Health = agriculture Roads = agriculture Maths = agriculture Transportation = agriculture 2.0 Technology = agriculture 3.0 In the beginning, agriculture ruled the world and In the end, agriculture will still rule the world. |
Agriculture › Re: Agriculture Will Replace Crude Oil by GodMode: 9:24pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Collynzo9: Gbam! Proceeds from primary Agriculture cannot build us power stations, bridges, world class roads and other infrastructures, unless we can set up industries where we process those agricultural output into finished products, in that case, it has gone from agriculture to manufacturing. Countries that depend on the kind of ''produce and export'' agriculture many Nigerians are suggesting are dirt poor and survive on foreign aid. Agriculture can do more than what u've mentioned.. Agriculture and manufacturing are related. |
Agriculture › Re: Agriculture Will Replace Crude Oil by GodMode: 9:20pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Ibekau: That's never going to happen because the demand for crude oil is not just based on energy provision, it's by-product are also needed as raw materials etc and also solar technology is not efficient enough for sophisticated energy solutions., rather I think nuclear energy is a better alternative or replacement for power solutions. Best power supply for Africa is solar, wind and waste products... Nuclear is dangerous.. |
Agriculture › Re: Agriculture Will Replace Crude Oil by GodMode: 9:13pm On Dec 02, 2014 |
Collynzo9: Don't mind them, I laugh when they mention agriculture all the time like it will lead us to some sort of eldorad. Prices of Agricultural products are also falling. We need steady power and the industries that come with it. Agriculture can reduce unemployment faster than oil.. Industries won't invest in a country where they can't easily get resources... Agriculture boosts chances of getting resources. |

Romance › Re: Five Reasons Why Guys Should Quit Complaining About Being Friendzoned by GodMode: 6:35pm On Dec 01, 2014 |
MzNelly: Yes, yes, the all-too familiar topic...
For the few majority who have no idea what 'Friend-zoning' implies, let me paint you a picture:
Boy meets Girl, Boy Likes Girl, Boy Asks Girl Out, Girl says: "I'm sorry, but we can ONLY be friends". Boy whines about being 'Friendzoned'.
Typical eh?
Here are 5 reasons why men should suck it up and quit whining:
1. She Has a Type And You're Not it. Yes. You may be the most caring person you've ever known-nice, sweet and gentle(good for you!), however the fact remains that the heart wants what the heart wants. I see guys complain about this but have you ever really stopped to wonder what the girl in question is interested in.....
2. She can't control Her Feelings. This goes without saying. Don't trivialize her feelings by claiming you've been friendzoned. Don't expect her to hook up with you because you talk to her on Facebook late at night. Don't expect her to feel the same way you do just because you've been nice to her. That's prossstitution and that makes you a douche.
3. She's Been Hurt too. Only guys sit down and make up a name of something that is actually...pretty normal. I've been hurt as well, i've liked people who didn't feel the same way. So? Would i sit and lick my wounds or move on? The same applies to the so-called 'Nice Guys' out there. Be a man about it and move on.
4. The Friendzone is an Excuse. It's an excuse for when a guy likes a girl but the girl doesn't like him right back. It's a sense of entitlement. It's the idea that just because a guy gives a girl his time or affection, she's in the wrong for not giving him sexual or romantic favors back. It's a defense mechanism, a way for the guy to make the girl seem coldhearted or callous or dumb for simply acting on her feelings, or rather lack of feelings.
5. Because No Girl Just Wants A 'Nice Guy.' You need to be more than an innocent little boy. You need to be a smart, witty, funny, charming and confident man. Girls don't like 'nice guys' or 'douchebags', they like guys who are real, just like guys like girls who are real. If you think a girl owes you something simply because you're a 'nice guy', then you have a warped sense of entitlement with the females, man.
The friendzone is the ineffectual tool of an ineffectual male. Stop using it as an excuse. There's a girl out there for you but you can't expect it to be me and blame me when it isn't, Capish? your opinion |
