Ironsi by name

Correct... He was jealous that the SW was progressing with Cocoa...

But since he couldn't see the future he thought he was making the right decision...

Six years later (1972) there was OIL BOOM.. The northerners were in power and in control of their OIL because of that decision.

Seun you can't fight any ideology with ban, bullets and violence. History is a great teacher. The colonial masters with supperior fire power could not stop the idea of INDEPENDENCE IN AFRICA. You need a better ideology to win.
The funny thing is that in the case of Biafra, you have a better ideology. Your tribe had once clamoured for it - TRUE FEDERALISM! That is the ANSWER. If you continue on this weak and foolish path of banning, you will end up making nairalanders fanatic about this biafra issue. Even business wise, it wouldn't help you. In a world where social media use issues like this to attract traffic on their site, you choose to do the opposite in the most irresponsible manner. I hope you don't regret this action.

Federalism was abolished by an igbo man in 1966.

I personally think this country should divide. I'm always disgusted by d tripe IgboS spew all over d internet. Why should I have to live in d same country wt them?

I think u should go wt wole Soyinka on this issue seun.

Peaceful dissolution is possible. Ecspecially when everyone is sick of each other as we so clearly are. Pple forget d hausas were d first to bring up seccession in d 60's, after nzeogwus coup. They wanted to leave.

The only problem I foresee wt peaceful dissolution is DT it will be replicated along tribal lines all over Africa. The west will not want DT.

There was no oil boom when they wanted to leave... It was some foreign guys that advised them not to secede.

All fingers are not equal my brother and considering the situation of the country. Those kids are not rich kids and you can see that they are attending public school. How many rich men have their kids in the public schools here? That boy is a true leader

This an unforgettable moment in their lives when they grow old. These kids will become very wise and their love bond will be so tight.

Public schools are meant to set the standard for private schools... Public schools should have school buses to cater for students...

But you're here praising the kids... What if they are hit by a drunk driver or rapists/kidnappers beat the boy up, kidnap and rape them...

Safety comes before anything but most Nigerians are accustomed to poverty and corruption and see this disgrace as inspiring..

Well Mr Learner and Reader, u r not making sense atall only repeating the same thing. What happen during the regime of 1BB or during the so call OBJ confab? R u telling me that North wanted decentralization?

Nigeria was decentralised before (1966) ironsi abolished it and made sure each region's resources was controlled by the federal govt.

If u can't understand that post then there's no point talking about it.

i agree with u but the problem is that u have not
explicitly tell me whether the southern part or the
northern part rejected decentralization of
government.
I believe u don't have to tell me ''go and read ur
history book''. We are to learn. Thank u.

In my comment murtala mohamed wanted to annex the north away from Nigeria during his coup (note: there was no oil boom then).

If you read my comment you wouldn't be saying this.. LEARN TO READ since u want to learn I hate repeating myself.

Let them continue to shout blue murder, instead of looking for ways to boost their earning.
When some people were clamoring for decentralization of power and resources, the North kick against it, thinking that crude oil will continue to sell above the country benchmark.

Go and read your history

An igbo man named Ironsi abolished federalism

"Then came Ironsi's Decree Number 34, which
proposed the abolition of the federal system of
government in favor of a unitary state, a
position which had long been championed by
some Southerners-especially by a major section
of the Igbo-dominated NCNC."

"The original intention of Murtala Mohammed
and his fellow coup-plotters seems to have
been to engineer the secession of the Northern
region from Nigeria as a whole, but they were
subsequently dissuaded of their plans by
several advisors, amongst which included a
number of high ranking civil servants and
judges, and importantly emissaries of the
British and American governments who had
interests in the Nigerian polity."

You sound like a hypocrite. So Nigeria should continue in Ironsi's mistake because it suits people like you whereas when the Igbos declared Biafra, you did everything to undo it and force them back.

did you read the person's (krendo) comment i quoted

krendo:

True federalism and devolution is the only way to secure the unity of Nigeria and its economic future.

He says Igbos want true federalism and I told him Nigeria practiced federalism before Ironsi abolished it. Ironsi's mistake favors only the northerners since most of them own the oil blocks..... The SW built the tallest building in Nigeria without oil money and it was the best economy in the country but ironsi's mistake hurt and affected the SE and SS the most... The SW is still the best economy in Nigeria...

Ironsi was military regime, military cant rule without centralized system, since the country inherited unitary system from the millitary, it should discard it with end of military govt

from 1960 till early 1966 was not military rule, so the unitary system was not from the military...

Again Lai Mohamed has failed to identify the root cause of the problem.

The structure of Nigeria and its governance is the root cause of our problem!

APC must stop papering the edges and implement the last confab report!

True federalism and devolution is the only way to secure the unity of Nigeria and its economic future.

Federalism was abolished by an igbo man named Ironsi...

so your suggestion is i believe, if it wasn't for oil nigerians would have let biafrans go? Or that the biafrans wants to get hold of the oil. And perhaps some countries are behind the Igbos. (For oil)

I also agree that there foreign countries that specializes in destroying developing countries for their oil, it seems nigeria is letting them achieve that.

By either ignoring this IPOB situation and hoping it will go away.

whether they get hold of the oil doesn't matter... As soon as chaos starts in the SE & SS Nigeria's oil prices will drop and the oil will be sold at a far cheaper price to countries sponsoring IPOB and they will tell Nigerians that there is fuel scarcity and sell at high prices to Nigerians.

the SW should be against any refinery that wants to be built in the region... cause its main goal is to pollute the Atlantic Ocean and the SW would have to collect huge loans for the clean up...

From the comments and insults on this topic here alone is enough for me to come to a conclusion that nigerians are not one, all i read here is we, them, the north, the east, the west, igbo, hausa, arewa, how can we claim to be one with all these entities proclaiming individuality.

Lets be honest to our selves nigeria is not one! Its time we quit decieving ourselves.

As long as the oil is there and most of the licenses are given to northerners then it will be hard for the SE & SS to secede cos it will mean the northerners will lose the oil... Even if they secede the oil will bring about wars cos there are foreign countries that specialize in destroying most developing oil countries from the inside...

the Niger Delta has reduced their agitation but this IPOB protest would likely spread in the coming years and the SE & SS will be in chaos... this IPOB is just way to destroy Nigeria from the inside.

They are the same thing don't mind all these noobs on NL gringringrin

You can combine both but reduce your code learning to 1hr or 2hrs per day cos medicine requires hard work, care, focus e.t.c

While

Programming requires hardwork, focus, reading, testing, debugging, sitting and staring at your computer for long hours ,maintaining your sanity when your code doesn't work, more reading and testing to keep yourself updated cos programming languages always have updates. e.t.c

The part of Nigeria dat should be complaining now is the yoruba, reason is dat go to most feed govt offices and the leader's are mostly hausa,go to nigeria embassies abroad and the leaders of these embassies are usually igbos...the yoruba been peaceful shouldn't be seen as cowardness... Igbos keeps blaming other tribes for their predicament.. What's the point in bringing your campaign to south West since u wanna break away Make it in East and let Bh make it in the north, doing something else will actually result in WAR which no one would be ready for...

so you've also realized and seen how marginalized the Yorubas are... I thought I was the only one...
