Originalsly:
African Americans and Africans ... as I see it... those who go at each other or dislike each other are either ignorant or mislead/miseducated.
What does the average AA know about Africans or Africa period? Very little...and the little he knows most likely is what is fed to him by the media...major networks and via movies.
What does the average African know about AA period? Very little.... and the little he knows most likely is fed to hm by the media...major networks...movies and by word of mouth...people who repeat what they hear.
What does the media feed Americans?.... that Africans are poor...always hungry...primitive.
What does the media feed Africans?....that AA are lazy...depend on Welfare... are drug pushers and drug users... are robbers...killers...uneducated... AA women are baby mamas.....baby daddies are likely in prison...like sooo many other Blacks...no doubt...criminal in nature.
Both AA and Africans ..in general...swallow what the media feed them.without chewing...without question....it must be the truth...no doubt.
Then there is the superiority complex question....as raised above...why the complex?...that too many Africans feel superior to AA? It is just an extension of the class discrimination practises in Africa... so why wouldn't the AA be at the bottom of the barrel?...after all...they are Descendants of Slaves...and that is enough for us to feel superior.
Education system in America try its best to keep Black history...Africa out of the system....so Blacks are generally kept in the dark about their history ...not even the Slave Trade.
Education system in Africa .... the Point of No Return is the beginning of ignorance of what happened after to captured Africans...that history is left out of this sysyem.
Believe it or not.... Nollywood (2000-2006) had....had a major impact...positive... on how AA view Africans...served as a window to see first hand...African culture.
And here we are...still wondering why AA and Africans are ehmmm....at war.
Nairaland is a great platform for us to understand each other and bridge the gap...there is a whole lot we can learn right here.

You are very correct..However one must be ready to impact his knowledge to the other..

Africans are always proud and consider African Americans lazy simply because they never understood history and like you said, They got only little informations either from the media or from their parents.

African American think Africans are from the bush and they tend to think they have better life and automatically disassociate themselves from Africa....The thing is just life your life and make good friends, be open and share the little knowledge you know with other people.I have many whites friends today and they used to be racists,I had to teach them what they didnt know and clear the stereotype in their head....Now they eat eba...

Unfortunately,Our government is a useless one...Even with your bachelor Degree from either Private,Federal or state Universities,You still have to at least further your education in many of those advanced countries, in order to get yourself that dreamed job.If you considering the United state of America,Then you should be thinking of acquiring at least one of those two years nursing certificate....

What are your motives for wanting to travel down to Georgia? The country is one of the poorest in europe and Nigerians out there always end up into scamming things....

Lol, the moving back concept is really baffling. Someone's talking about moving back with 30-60 million Naira ($100k-200k). That's a lot of money. How many people can save 60m Naira in Nigeria? How many?

People have failed abroad, people have also been fooled into moving back home thinking it'd be easier. In the end, they lost their way and their only saving grace was that they could realize their mistake and flee Nigeria again lol.

A functioning system is a functioning system! It's complete ignorance to compare Nigeria to a such countries. There are still places in Lagos where you can't drive to. You have to park your car somewhere and walk or else... you'll spend your next salary fixing your car.

I'm not against anyone wanting to move back. As long as they do it for their own reasons without saying untrue things, we're cool. Not even 2m Naira a month can make me move back to Nigeria. I can't deal with stupidity anymore.

I have a friend that ventured into thesame scheme like this idiot.Do you know what people like this guy will do ?? Get multiple credit cards fund and abscond to Africa.

Because they are too lazy to make an honest living.

He keep bragging about American passport,Ask him what he does for a living and where he lives in USA.

I’m way more successful than you think...

There is no point exchanging banters with you...

You’re clearly not making any sense.

How can you be telling that you are successful and you couldn’t even afford a flight ticket to Nigeria since past 6 years that you entered USA ? You need to enlighten yourself and stop hiding on the internet!

Lmao! Ungrateful hypocrites all over the place. Sometimes, no matter how much you try to explain a concept, some people won't just get it. I'll stop trying.

See them talking about saving $100k-200k to move back to Nigeria in the same country where they said it's impossible to save any money due to tax, bills, debts, etc.

I'm glad I was able to leave at a young age grin

You can fool yourselves by talking up Nigeria like it's flowing with milk and honey over there, lmao. Is it not the same Nigeria?

Sit down there and listen to stories of failed people, continue reading things online about losers and keep deceiving yourself with the Idea that everyone is suffering here lol. Your ignorance will only increase.

I shake my head when I think of the barbers, hairdressers, truck drivers, welders, auto-mechanics, plumbers, etc. in Nigeria and how underrated/undervalued they are.

As I am typing this comment, I just thought to myself... I can conveniently walk into a car dealership this weekend and walk out with a brand new 2018 Honda Accord if I wanted to and I'm just an average person with a nice credit score and a good job. I'm only having that opportunity because I'm here.

Oh, and guess what? I tried the Uber/Lyft thing last weekend lol. I made $432 driving Thur-Sat, evenings only. Not bad for a rookie, is it? I spent about $30 on gas, though. I'm already fighting the temptation to make another $400+ this weekend.

I'm glad things are working out for me beyond my expectations. Wherever you are, if things are genuinely working out for you how you want, awesome!

EDIT

Just checked the exact figures, it wasn't 432. It's 246 on Lyft and $201 on Uber making $447. grin grin grin

I mentioned it in my post earlier,They would want to move back not for good intention but it’s simply because they cannot adapt and cope with the society. They couldn’t cope with a functioning system with no fraud, bribery and many other criminal activities!!
