I stand corrected that we didn't play boring football under Keshi, maybe the football statisticians who have all the records of games played under Keshi can back me up on this.

don't try to rewrite history to suit your narrative, the games we played in the first round of AFCON 2013 were boring to the extent we all lost hope before the quarter-final match against CIV reports had it that the NFF had reserved air tickets for the entire team back to Nigeria before the match against CIV, that's how poor we were then.

Never compare Keshi with those other 2 frauds, Keshi was never a football coward, you could fault him for several things in the later years of his coaching stint but never was there a time under Keshi when we played lethargic and boring one-route football. Rohr and Peseiro really took the bar really low, unfortunately Nigerian fans have been used to rubbish football for so long and accepted rubbish like a Stockholm syndrome.

this is not true, we played many boring games under keshi, in fact we all wanted a foreign coach back then

I'm hearing JPesiro has declined on extending a contract offer and has quit as coach.

Good news for me, argue as you wish but the man rode his luck on pure cowardice football and on the back of sheer patriotism from the boys than any managerial "genius" on his part, his decision to not only play unfit players, but also play the most cowardly display of football ever managed by a Nigerian team in an AFCON FINAL affirmed my reasons why this guy just had to go.

Enough of these foreign journeymen coaches, if we can't get a decent enough foreign coach, then let Amunike (who looks to be the likely candidate to take over the team) step up with Finidi ASAP.

grin The same thing we all said about Stephen Keshi, no surprises. Even Gerhet Rohr started looking like a good coach when he left us, kotinu

The coach may go finally, any serious federation would have extended his contract by now. Am not surprised, anybody who knows our antecedent wouldn't either. I will be more surprised if the nff keeps Jpes, that will be a departure from the norm.

Oga Kog! lol! I am shocked that you believe this POAK suing NFF nonsense.
I am also surprised that in trying to make home your point you are being economical with the truth.

1) The same Paserio released Sadiq and Boniface cos of injuries.
2) The same Paserio decided to change is formation rather than play Alhassan through injuries.
3) The same Paserio rested the same Ekong and Sanusi in matches they were declared unfit to play-- Guinea Bissau and South Africa respectively. Against Cameroon and the final, Sanusi did not play the full 90 minutes.
Finally, at football level there have been numerous examples of clubs/NT playing players through injuries. Many!

However, Nigeria is one of the countries that tried as much as possible to maintain communication with our players clubs to create a thriving environment for them at their various clubs.

The Algerians insisted on having Bennacer though not fully fit and played him! The Senegalese same with Sarr!

I have been trying to avoid this conversation but I think it's time we just ignore all these European clubs and their complaints about injuries, It's natural for them to voice out their frustrations, but that's their business and not ours. Our major concern is that our players will be back from injury in time to continue their national duties just like they do for their clubs, it's all about interests here and we shouldn't allow these European clubs to allow us to turn on our National team coaches and start lambasting them. Jpes got us to the finals, we have already blamed him enough for not winning Afcon now we want to start bashing him again for injuries, what kind of people are we sef, I even see someone suggesting they deduct from Jpes salary for injury costs, is that how low we are as a people?

Which coach in his right senses will drop influential players like Aina and Ekong in any game if they are fit enough to play, is it not justified that they made Afcon 11? Like you said earlier Boniface and even Awoniyi were excluded completely from Afcon due to injuries, why are we not blaming the clubs for their injury and demanding costs too or don't we think we missed those guys in Afcon, abeg let's stop all these blame games. The boys will be back, they just got injured like they also do when playing for their clubs, all this sensationalism is not worth it.

That’s not true. World class strikers are capable of creating and scoring their own chances. If you think I’m lying go and watch fenomeno, Henry, cristiano even drogba will shoot from 40 yards

In addition they are also capable of playing as a striker, midfielder, defender and makes saves as a keeper all at the same time 😜

"Football is a marathon not a sprint". Ironically, this same guy is fond of using the phrase "football is a short term career".
He isn't just confused... he must be doing weed, cus it doesn't make sense for a grown up adult with such exposure as his to use different metrics, criteria, theory and condition on different players just because he prefers the English born players...

Dude just keeps expending his energy to downplay a player even foreign media adjudge as one of the best strikers in the world. Sometimes even when you have a dissenting opinion it's best to keep quiet and let posterity prove whether you're right or wrong but No he wants to form alpha and omega as someone who knows yesterday, today, and tomorrow, real nonsense.

You are being too fanatical and loosing all sense of rationality in an emotive roller 🎢 coaster.

When I call Mbappe world class it's because he has been top of the scoring charts in the French league for the past 5 years plus that's astounding consistency in addition he does it for France in every competition.

Essentially VO has had one break out season where he got the golden boot, absolutely fabulous. Does it make him world 🌎 class to me No, but Yes on the journey to getting being world class.

He had two good seasons at Seria A not exceptional, he had another good season in French league and a good one in Belgium league.

You said so quickly it's taken him , I would not say that. In my view it's taken him almost 7 years to get to this level, throughout sheer hard work relentless determination and through injury as well. That level being highest goal scorer in Seria A last season.

Football ⚽ is a marathon not just a sprint. Remaining at the top is even harder than getting there.

and 7 years to you is still a sprint? what a contradiction! At this point, it's obvious to everyone that you're confused. The more you talk about this player the more you're confirming his exceptionalism. English is just your problem. You're expecting him to be Methuselah before he can convince you he's world-class. Scored more goals than samuel eto and George weah in seria a.
First african highest goal scorer in Italy. Haha he is approaching legend. Let's be factual

Osi came at a time most have given up we will ever have a Nigerian player up there again. it looks too unbelievable to many that such a player could rise to the ranks so quickly. I mean it was looking as if No Nigerian could never win APOTY again, that's how we have fallen so badly even within Africa, even at Lille, the guy was delivering and he continued in Italy, which European league will he not excel in, and yet someone thinks he's not world-class. Some people have problem o, they say seeing is believing but in Osi matter, the player may need to die and resurrect before they can believe.

we are just playing with our World Cup qualifying chances with this coaching issue, any new coach now will need 4 or 5 games to stabilize especially when he wants to please the fans with a different pattern from what the current coach does, and by then our world cup ticket for don enter voice mail. If nff like make dem no get sense. We all knew how many matches it took jpes to get to where we are today.

If Osimhen was a foreigner, I'm sure some of his critics will worship him.
IMO, one thing that sets Osimhen apart from other crop of talented players we have produced over they years but didnt live up to expectation is his dedication and hunger. You can see the determination in his game anytime he is on the pitch.. that is the mark of a man who knows that he hasn't arrived yet. Missing those chances at the AFCON was painful, but it wont take away the fact that he is an amaing player.

I don't just want to go there initially before one is accused of prejudice, but is it a fluke that a player has all these individual honours below?

African U-17 Championship Golden Boot: 2015
FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Boot: 2015
FIFA U-17 World Cup Silver Ball: 2015
CAF Youth Player of the Year: 2015

Osimhen at club level has 107 goals and 27 assists in 211 games in addition to having a Serie A title, Serie A golden boot and Serie A player of the year under his belt..... If that isn't enough for you to label him world class, then you're just hating.. bad belle, full stop!

Don’t mind him, this is how Yekini was criticised in those days that he has no skills, yet till today he remains Nigeria’s highest goal scorer.

A player returned from Afcon and have score two goals in a row yet he’s not considered consistent in their eyes. phew

Ighalo scored 5 ANC goals and was chased out of SE but when it comes to other players, expectations is different and you will be gas lighted for highlighting any of their weaknesses

you are just bothering yourself, dude is APOTY, go and collect it from him if you think he's not good enough. There is nothing else the guy will do that can satisfy you, did he tell you he wants to be the GOAT?

Oshimen has nothing more to prove to anyone again. If you’re not satisfied kindly ignore him and look up to other players. Scoring in big games or not cannot reduce his validation. Dude has paid his dues for both club and country whether you ask for more or not

You are prejudiced 🤔 and negatively BIASED to the point you are unable to reason.

I asked the contributor to state what Steve McManamum said that he completely dismissed as emotive rumblings.

So we can analyse and balance matters objectively ,there is no player that cannot improve. You need criticism to improve not undue praises and hype.

Osihmen does not need to prove anything more to anybody including Steve, if any top club thinks that he's not good enough that's their cup of tea. For a player who piloted his team to win the Serie A, piloted his country to the Afcon finals and he's APOTY, such a player has paid his dues and does not need any more validation ok?
