kodded: these guys dont know what they have started, especially Canada
I expect morroco and other northern africa teams to use same tactics to bar key players of opposition teams when they are the hosting team
Imagine Nigeria flying to Morroco or Libya, and the immigration authorities refuses to grant osimhen and lookman permission to enter their country citing one fabricated story This is what many don’t know, a bad precedent has been set. FIFA will only end up ruining its competitions. The off the pitch antics had just been emboldened. |

Ppogbae: Did Carragher really say this?
Also, Partey was not denied because of missing paperwork but rather because he has charges against him and is set to stand trial. According to Canadian law, you can be deemed inadmissible even without a foreign conviction. Is partey going to be resident in Canada? How long will Ghana even stay in the tournament, is it not to play some matches and leave? |

https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2065479786869268636?s=20[/quote]It’s high time fifa stop playing the ostrich if they can’t enter agreement with host countries that visa waivers must be granted to participating teams and officials.
If FIFA doesn’t try as much as possible to keep the game apart from politics and state affairs the risk of having another parallel football body will increase. |

yinkeys: Portugal sliced Nigeria though & dominated play Neto & Conceciao sliced us open Fernandes also created space for a hot shot saved by Okoye Ronaldo could have had a sweet header/sitter from a corner kick Eagles struggled to make combinations, interplay The goal Nigeria scored goes to individual efforts of Dele, Maduka & Akor as well as luck/defensive error Can Nigeria hang if we play against S/Korea & Japan ? Eagles were much better than the 4 nil embarrassment they gave us 4 years ago though Can we really hang with the big teams tactics wise? That’s why we need more of these games to improve and all our players must be available. We can’t afford to have a team that won’t be competitive among bigger football nations. We can’t be beating Mozambique 4-0 and freeze against Senegal or CIV. that’s why these bigge friendly games matter |

EElopa: This is the irritation thing that I am talking about. What exactly is the point of qualifying for the World Cup by luck and going there and humiliating yourself? The South African showing today was bad for African football. A team that bad should not be qualifying for the World Cup out of CAF, generally regarded as the 3rd best confederation in the world behind UEFA and CONMEBOL. Look at the nonsense they are doing with underage football in Africa, all modeled towards helping eastern and southern African countries. Very soon if care is not taken, they will take World Cup qualifiers into regionals. This nonsense needs to stop. Madagasca was actually very close to qualifying for the worldcup. Imagine Madagascar vs France; the scoreline would have been historic. I even have a problem with fifa expanding the number of teams to how many now sef 48 competing nations and they may increase it again which will be making the World Cup too expensive to host. The World Cup should be for best of nations competing at a high elite level. 32 nations is ok, even look at Afcon it’s the number of countries competing now that’s making it difficult to find a host country making the likes of Morocco to hold the entire continent to ransom. Common sense needs to prevail at both fifa and CAF level. Let the best of nations qualify just as you have said. The game is becoming too political with all manner of entitlement attitude. Just see a country like the US using their might to deny people entry just because most of the matches are being held in their country. A nation until recently that only started getting more interested in the game. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Goke7: 10:34pm On Jun 11 |
EElopa: CAF needs to adopt a system in which there will be 3 groups of 10 teams. The top 24 ranked teams in Africa qualified for the final rounds. 25 to 54 teams will fight for 6 spots to make it to the final arounds. The top 3 teams in each group automatically qualify for the World Cup. The 2 best 4th-place teams in the three groups qualify for CAF playoffs. The winner in the home and away game qualifier for the intercontinental FIFA playoffs. The goal should always be to have the best African teams in the World Cup. With a South African as CAF president? 😂 |

Napoleon55: So you are basically saying that other first team members like Bassey, Iwobi,Ndidi, Akor and Onyeka should have joined Osimhen and Lookman clubing and partying in Lagos?
The game against Portugal is high profile friendly, two of them should have been there, not clubbing, unless if they actually have a genuine reason not to go with others. The absence of both players yesterday has set us backwards but we are not ready for this conversation yet! There are matches to try new players and matches to refine your squad. |
